Xmas Tree Glitch?

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I have just puchased Happy Holiday Stuff for TS2. I read on a thread ages ago that the trees included can catch fire if left on. Well I set the tree on fire. The Fire Department came and put it out, but it looks likes its still on fire. And the best part? Nobody gives a damn! They walk past it, no alarm and I can still interact with the item. But I can't go into build/buy or save. Any ideas?  Huh

Hrm. Usually you're still allowed to enter build/buy mode when there are stuck fires. Have you tried forcing an error on it?

I want to know if it's normal not to be able to turn the tree on ever again after it catches on fire.

I think it's perfectly normal that the tree won't turn on again after it's been on fire.  The thing that surprises me is that it doesn't look burnt afterwards.

It's annoying though. The things catch on fire at least once a day. Having to replace the tree every day if I want to see the flashing light effects is kind of a drag.

Carrigon has a hack to prevent the tree from catching on fire:

Here I thought catching on fire was the entire point of a Christmas tree. Why else would you be hauling a flammable, dried out thing in and then wiring it with live electrical cable?

While you're at it, be sure to put the dried out tree next to the fireplace, and surround it with cardboard boxes wrapped in paper.

Or, better yet; use real candles instead of electrical (like I did this year). Pretty!
