Party guest abducts baby

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I had a household with 2 adults and 5 children, and I ran a birthday party for one of the kids.  During the party, I noticed that the guests were taking care of the noisy larva, which seemed convenient at the time, since the adults were either sleeping or dealing with the guests.  I pretty much ignore babies until they go yellow or start yelling.

The next morning, after 3 of the kids are off to school, I glance over at the Sim list and suddenly realize the baby's missing entirely.  My best guess is that the party guest who was changing, feeding, etc. the baby simply walked off with it.  Exiting and re-loading did not restore the missing baby, though the family portrait still shows it.

I think the parents are secretly happy.  They both wanted a daughter and got a son instead.

I've read that if you merge a Sim into the household, the missing baby will reappear and be back to normal.  You can then move the merged Sim back out.

I might try that.  Moving didn't work - the baby showed up in the move dialog, but not on the lot after the move.

Apparently it doesn't - I suggested trying that when someone else had the same problem and it didn't work.  Someone else then posted the solution I listed above which apparently does work.  Resetsim seems to be mostly for getting Sims out of stuck actions.

Through a stroke of bad luck, I actually got a chance to test this myself today.  Merging a Sim in then moving them back out resulted in the missing toddler appearing near the front door.

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

It happened to me yesterday, at birthday party for one of the twins the other one was kidnapped. The odd thing is, the guest who took away the baby also moved out from the neighborhood. The baby was on the relationship panel/family tree yet.
As I had no neighbor to merge in, I found an odd solution for this problem. I moved out one of the parents and the baby showed up on the selection screen. Right away the other parent went visit and asked to move back in.
The awful thing is the baby turned to a kid when I went on visit and I missed the whole toddler cycle. He got the loser trait as well. I guess it fits him.
