Collections and Downloads folder
« on: 2008 February 04, 06:09:33 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Are they interchangeable?

Yesterday I accidentally put a package file that's supposed to go into the Downloads folder into Collections folder and left a collection file in the downloads folder (it's a furniture set that comes with a collection file, but I didn't see it and just put it in the downloads folder). Both of them worked. Roll Eyes

Collection files have always worked from the downloads folder, so I have no idea why some creators get their panties in a knot shouting at people to put them in the collection folder.  I didn't know it worked the other way, but I'm not surprised.  Many files work from odd places.
Not all files work in all places.  I once renamed my downloads folder to _downloads while working with a temporary batch of files, and all the meshes still worked, but no other CC showed up.

Oh well. If I had known that collections files work from downloads folder that'll make it way less cluttered. I wonder why they all warned us to put them in the collections folder too. Maybe they don't know that they work from downloads folder, just like me. I don't think there's any info out there about this.

I only knew because Gwill told me Cheesy It is so much easier to leave collection files in a folder with the whole mesh set rather than piddling about seperating things. And the Icon thing? I never put the picture icon in my downloads folder and it still shows up as it was made.

Usually if you download a set and they include a colletion file, they give you a tiny picture to put in your collection/icon folder. Usually with the site logo on it. I never put that in and the collections always show up with the correct little logo thing in-game.

Oh, that icon. I guess they're embedded in the file itself then.
