Seasons and custom 'hoods

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Having got tired of all the Maxis EA NPCs I've removed them from the main game/sub-hoods as per the instructions for building a custom neighbourhood. This all works great. Now I've got seasons, do I have to restore all of them before installing the new EP? I'm hoping it's standalone and won't care about what's gone before, but you never know... If I do have to restore, will it bork my new custom hood? (I've been playing it while waiting for various hacks to be patched for seasons.)

You mean you edited the templates that are in the Program Files\EA Games\ directories?

If so, I didn't remove mine (I use my empty ones, of course) and Seasons installed just fine. The ONLY installer that has ever complained about them was the OFB patch, because one of the things the patch was fixing was an occupied house in the OFB sub-hood. Normally patches and EP's have no reason to mess with the template neighborhoods.

In any case, EXISTING neighborhoods have NOTHING to do with the templates in Program Files. Once a neighborhood is created, nothing that you do to the templates will matter (unless of course you then add another sub-hood to the neighborhood). The templates are only used when a neighborhood is being created or a sub-hood added. They are not used in any other way.

I haven't modified my templates, but I did notice that Seasons added two Maxis families to my otherwise pristine custom legacy hood.  I was so offended - since I went to considerable trouble to burninate the default townies/NPCs and make new ones and only have one family that I made in play - that I used the Tombstone of L&D to kill them all.

I've since discovered that those same two families have been added to all of my hoods (all custom and all differently themed).  Even if I was the kind of person who'd play with them, which I'm not, I can't imagine that I'd want to play the same families in three different previously-established neighbourhoods.

It's just so RUDE.

Before you create another custom hood, you might want SaraMK's cleaned up G002 template, found in this topic

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll brave installing seasons this weekend.
