51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abandonated & Unconfirmed Mods: Anybody tried these with Pets? on: 2006 November 15, 20:13:54
Inge's Institution Sign doesn't work w/ Pets - it makes the pet carpools not show. If anyone's made an update, I'd really like to know. I use her school hack to socialize my sim teens and now I can't do that anymore. Sad
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics problem, I think on: 2006 November 15, 20:05:00
I do contest eevilcat's assumption that women are likely to get the dregs of the home systems.

I do too. As long as girl knows what to ask for, she's not getting the dregs of the pcs. It's the knowing what to ask for that's the stickler, and when it comes down to that, you'd be surprised at the number of men who're computer illiterate.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My computer doesn't like Pets! on: 2006 November 13, 20:02:40
Why can't you turn your CC on? What does running from Program Files have to do w/ CC enabling?
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: lost my hacks.... on: 2006 November 13, 13:44:57
For more customers, try the customer limit adjustor at SimWardrobe. It does a lot for my sim business.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: dead sims ? on: 2006 November 13, 13:38:28
Wow. No wonder my sims w/ super low energy actually go to bed now instead of being pissy and whining about it for 10 gazillion seconds and then passing out! I'm thinking I like this. Who actually faints when they're dead tired? Sluggish, maybe, but nobody falls lifeless to the ground and and fails to move their ass to the bed 5 feet away.
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 13, 13:27:58
sprog? circuit trainer?
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Binned hair - once again on: 2006 November 13, 13:25:23
I second the use of the binning tool. The thing w/ sharing binning is that pple have different ways they'd prefer to bin, and while I wanted things binned before, now I give an inward cheer if something's NOT binned b/c then I can do it myself w/ the binning tool. Binned things give me extra work b/c it's almost never binned the way I want.

And really, the binning tool's so very easy, and does everything the RIGHT way (although that does kinda work against me, at times).
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: queue interrupts some tasks, why, can it be fixed? on: 2006 November 13, 13:20:45
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,208.0.html

Basically you queue up macro clean and they clean up all that needs to be cleaned on the lot. Very useful. In my experience they tend to go to the counters and sinks and things first, though. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the plates spewing toxic fumes cleaned up first. Kinda kills the atmosphere...
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Robert Kim and mirrors? on: 2006 November 12, 18:52:37
I had the crashing on change appearance due to some screwy custom skins that I made via the SimPE default skintone replacement tool under scan folders. For some reason, defaults made using it just don't work right. The sim herself looked normal enough, but she just kept crashing the game.

Maybe it's something along those lines - a default replacement gone awry or some such.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Finally Got Pets - Pescado Compatiblity List? on: 2006 November 10, 14:52:45
Well, the thing is, as awesome as Pescado's hacks are there are just certain hacks that I don't want in my game. And when it's just a list, w/ certain hacks that lack descriptions even on the site, it's harder to weed out the unwanted hacks that way than by replacing hacks that I've already downloaded.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets Bug and Mod Question on: 2006 November 10, 00:12:44
Ahh. Thanks. Just figured that out myself. So...anyone know what that move in mod does?
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pets Bug and Mod Question on: 2006 November 09, 23:51:43
Since installing Pets, I've been having trouble w/ my sims' cellphones - if I direct my sim to call...sim, his cellphone deletes and he resets. Oddly enough, autoyak options Call Friends/Family are still there on the sim pie menu, even though there is no cell phone. Likely a hack, but I figured I'd ask to see if this is a known issue w/ any mod.

And on a related note, I have a mod from Squinge called Move In - Normal New. Does anyone know what that particular mod does?
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: IE 7.0 sucks on: 2006 November 09, 15:08:33
I'm having issues w/ the most recent version of Firefox. I can't seem to download from forums like MATY by opening the files. It'll always pop up w/, you have chosen to open XXX.zip, would you like to save?, and the only option is save and cancel. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Go into Tools > Options > Content. Click on "Manage...", then scroll down to ZIP. Select it, then click "Change Action...". Click on the "Open them with this application:" radio button, then browse to the .exe of your preferred archive program. Click OK.

Alternatively, do what dizzy suggested, but replace "browser.helperApps.neverAsk.saveToDisk" with "browser.helperApps.neverAsk.openFile".

Weirdly enough, there's no .Zip in the list of extensions under manage. And I'd rather not turn off asking entirely. Occasionally I'd like to save Zips to disk, but w/ sims files I prefer to just open and extract. I'm really liking the updates for this version except for this annoying little tidbit.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: IE 7.0 sucks on: 2006 November 09, 06:37:33
I'm not using IE. Firefox. Furryfox. Whatever pple like to call it.

Are there any obsolete hacks w/ this EP though?
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do YOU Pleasantview? on: 2006 November 08, 22:58:48
Me too. I like the premade hoods b/c I don't have to establish a back-story - it's all already there. I have a hard time caring about my sims if I'm not attached to them via backstory or something. Plus I'm hopelessly vain, and all my sims are perfectly beautiful. The Maxis fugness adds some variety.

Dina and Don Lothario were my favorite family for a long time. They've been inching towards elder stage for forever now, but I always have a hard time letting them actually transition b/c I like them so much. Dina had a whirl w/ Mortimer, giving birth to a baby girl, but when Mortimer caught her cheating w/ Don, she took her divorce settlement and ran. She and Don got married, and Dina decided to strike out and make her own mark in the world w/ the divorce money. Thru the years she's given birth to 2 sets of twins plus another little girl, all gorgeous. Nowadays, Dina's a cosmetics mogul living in a spacious villa with her family. She and Don have been married for ages and neither have cheated once, nor had cheat wants. Not a lot of drama, but they're just sort of interesting day to day. I could go on with them, but really, I'm rambling enough as is.

Brandi caught the eyes of a hot, young (albeit somewhat stiff) bachelor w/old-money roots. Despite her bevy of kids, he was enamored, and promptly married her. He's kinda vanilla and boring but for his businesses, which rake in a whole lot of dough. Brandi, having all this money, proceeded to indulge, particularly in food. For the life of me I could not get Brandi to lose her weight and keep it off. So, she's staying fat. Her hubby likes the extra flesh though, me thinks.

Except for Dustin, both her boys are kinda loose, despite not being romance sims. Beau started dating Lucy Burb and then cheated on her w/ Cassandra & Darren's daughter. Ethan (the Brandi clone) promptly swooped in and swept Lucy off her feet. Of course, Beau then got furious at both of them, despite being the cheater! He then attacked Ethan, and now they both hate each other. Of course, after a few days of dating, now Ethan is starting to have wandering eyes. All that drama w/ Lucy and now he wants to hop into bed w/ one of the Lothario twins.

Cassandra is married to Darren, and she's sort of weird in that she runs around in her victorian house in victorian gowns and meanwhile is a scientist. Her kids are surprisingly good looking - Darren has good genes.

Jennifer Burb also runs around in Indian dress. Aside from her daughter's drama it's the only thing that makes the Burbs interesting.

Alexander's also engaged to a gorgeous young debutante. She's arty and intellectual and doesn't care for looks - which is why she's w/ Alexander. I was hoping she could defug the Goth line, but alas, aside from a rather handsome Jewish-looking kid, all the other kid combos (using the insim) are pretty damn fug. Still - Morty's Jewish! I could run w/ that as a storyline.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Finally Got Pets - Pescado Compatiblity List? on: 2006 November 08, 18:44:18
I haven't seen a compatibility list for Pescado - has anyone written one? Or is it that all hacks either work or were updated?
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BitTorrent clients on: 2006 November 08, 18:29:15
Azureus is kind of a memory hog though, but it's pretty easy to use and has lots of features. For my older, crappier machine I use BitTornado.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone have Simcribbling's skintones? on: 2006 November 07, 17:08:59
I do use the Shiny Sims skin and eye replacers and LPTL's hair texture replacements, but now the eyebrows really stick out, especially that one annoying style that looks like knitted wool.  Angry

Hair Texture replacements? Care to point me in the right direction?  Wink

And I actually kinda like the slightly fuzzy Maxis eyebrows. They look pretty good on certain sims, and the best on kids/toddlers - a perfectly plucked arch just looks weird on these stages. The other two are pretty bad, though. But I haven't found a good set of eyebrows yet that works on all sims.
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone have Simcribbling's skintones? on: 2006 November 07, 01:20:05
I'm back w/ pictures!

This is a serious Maxis fug which would've been previously unredeemable, but now squeaks by thanks to Louis's skintone.

Another Maxis fug who's a manager for one of my sims. Aside from new eyebrows and hair he's 100% Maxis. He's using Peggy's amazing new skintones, and topped w/ the abs on that thing, he's surprisingly good looking.

Yet another Maxis fug, but using Enayla's light skintone (w/ reduced shine), she's surprisingly elegant.

And this dude isn't exactly a Fug, but look how much hotter he is w/ the Peggy skintone!

And okay, so the CC skins can't quite fix the neanderthal faces. Those go straight to the Cowplant. Tongue
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: IE 7.0 sucks on: 2006 November 05, 21:02:20
yes, I tried firefox but heard that is was not as secure as IE.   I dunno Huh

What? Someone told you IE was secure? You shouldn't be logging advice from dolts, ya know. Wink
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone have Simcribbling's skintones? on: 2006 November 04, 18:56:19
I don't even go that far... I usually just give them different hair styles and some blush, and their giant frog mouths and horse eyes suddenly become much less noticable.

Less noticeable, yes, but still fug. When I say these skins unfug, I mean they REALLY unfug...they're like extra strength scar makeup for the Sims - except more natural looking.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone have Simcribbling's skintones? on: 2006 November 04, 18:40:53
Basically the ones I know of without the borders are Maxis and any simple recolors of Maxis eyes (ie they still look similar to the cartoony Maxis ones), Lyran's, a set that SimderZ did and Shiny Sims. If anyone knows of anymore eyes without the borders let me know please!

Rosesims has a set of 4 "contacts" that are fabulous - more fancy than Lyran's, but still w/ the maxis eye borders. It sucks that there are only 4 colors, b/c I think they'd make great defaults, and I haven't had time to reccolor anything.

And on CC skins, I think one of the best things about them is the serious, serious defugging it enables, w/out any makeup at all. I've had sims whom I previously considered unredeemably FUG, turn up and surprise me w/ their attractiveness/un-atrociousness, using CC skins as defaults. Heck, even the exterminator surprised me w/ her un-fugging, and everyone knows how ugly those exterminators look. I'll try and get a picture if I can, but the difference is remarkable.

I've found Peggy's recent "special gift" skins to be amazing for defugging purposes, and in fact it was the one thing that made me cave to my only TS2 subscription, ever. And Enayla does a great job in making healthy looking light skins. A lot of times light skins can look deathly pale, but she makes hers look amazingly porcelain. Of course, both these skins required MAJOR editing on my part to get them to my tastes - decreasing the oil-slick shine on Enayla's skin of course, and getting rid of the belly piercings and lipstick and nailpolish, esp. since I mostly use CC skins as default-replacements. But once they're fixed, wow are they effective!
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: If this is a glitch I hope it is never fixed. on: 2006 November 04, 04:22:33
Wow, Chee-z, your sig's mesmerizing. I can't stop watching the little thing go around in circles. Lol.
