26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Transferring downloads from backup folder to the active one on: 2010 September 26, 00:02:59
If you are talking about the downloads folder for store items that will not show up by just placing the items from the old downloads folder to the new one.  You would actually have to have the dcCache folder from your old install.  Then all of your old store items will show up.  If you are strictly talking about the Mods folder those should not have to be "installed".

This could be the issue.

If you didn't make a backup of your Sims3 folder before uninstalling and you are missing all of your store items, then you would have to get all the .Sims3Pack files and reinstall those.  If you downloaded them from here then you need to follow the process for decrapifying them, etc.  If you actually bought them from the Store then you can go online and re-download and install from the store.

I gave you $40 today, hope that helps.  I've used this site for a long time so it's the least I can do.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: McDermotts can't return home from France on: 2010 February 15, 04:30:55
Oops!

Yep, there is a .dbc file in the DCCache folder. I thought that you meant only in the game files under Program Files, namely Mods.

Maybe it is because she is pregnant and it won't let her travel and then it gets confused.  Falconpunch the baby and then try letting them go home.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 04:46:41
What about Riverview?

Riverview loads fine for me.  No problems at all.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 04:19:10
I patched the game and copied the contents of DCCache folder into Mods>Packages, modifying the Resource.Cfg to accept .dbc files and it looks like everything is showing up and the game is running.  Thanks for figuring this out so quickly Pescado!

What all did you have to change?

First I went to the directory where the Sims is installed and changed my resource.cfg to be like this:

Priority 501
PackedFile Mods/Override/*.package
Priority 500
DirectoryFiles  Mods/Packages/... autoupdate
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Hair/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Skins/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Decor/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Accessories/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Clothing/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Build/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Patterns/*.package
PackedFile Mods/DCC/*.dbc

Then under the Mods folder I created a folder called DCC.

Into that folder I copied all the .dbc files from the DCCache folder.

Everything loads and all content is there.

EDIT:  Must have hit enter at the same time as you, sorry for the duplicate entry.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 03:30:24
I went back into the game and some of my downloaded objects are there but some are missing.  When I copied the dbc file over was I supposed to delete it from its original location?

EDIT:  I am definitely missing my content.

NEW EDIT:  Got it!!!  Copied all the dbc files from the cache and now all my content shows up and the game runs smoothly.  Thanks everyone!
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 17, 03:06:28
I bought both the base game and WA.  I used the launcher to install the patches and I downloaded the new version of AM.  Everything loaded up and ran fine except some items are missing.  I am going to try the dbcache thing and then I will let you know if everything shows up.

I had no crashes at all.  It went smooth.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 Released - CAW Out on: 2009 December 17, 02:38:01
Okay, so I found out what happened to all the .Sims3packs. The EA launcher, and the game itself, no longer correctly reads them. Anyone, most noteably TSR, who relies on them, is now fucked. A workaround exists, but it involves DARK SORCERY and ELDRITCH ABOMINATIONS, so that's right out for TSR. But I fixed it.

Link broken for AM Test

What is the link for AM Test, I have forgotten it.

Wow, I've been experimenting with building walls around my rabbit holes but never would have thought to put them underground! Frackin' brilliant. I would love to download it to check it out in-game, but the link appears to be broken.

So what's up with the super secret door? I am not awesome enough to figure out how that was done or even what it is.

Just right click the link and choose save target as and it will download.
36  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: No more wishes... on: 2009 July 22, 19:04:44
I have one Sim in one household that has had a total of 2 wishes and shes almost at the end of her teen years.  Everyone else in the family gets tons of them.
37  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 20, 14:43:52
Well the versions of Indie Stone and Awesomemod that work together are out now. Grab both and make sure you do not use the Indie core file, just the Indie mod one.

Note that Lemmy posted a updated version of Indie Stone that (supposedly) fixes the popup issue with Wolfruns here: http://www.theindiestone.com/lemmyandbinky.com/Sims3Mods/IndieStoneMod.zip.

As of this writing that version had not been uploaded to MTS yet, but you are probably safer always getting your file from that link as it's their site and will always have the latest.

Can't wait to go home from work so I can give this a try.  I've been waiting for this, at least until Pescado builds his own Story Progression Mod!
38  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Story Mode on: 2009 July 17, 18:54:49
I used Indie last night for the first time and I was surprised when it married two guys and moved into their own house.  That was great!

Really? Wow that's pretty cool. Especially since I've hear a number of people complaining about the lack of that with Indie.

Now the real test is if it get them to adopt on its own without any player intervention. Hell, if it does that I might even switch over to Indie more often.

I'll keep my eye on them and if it does have them adopt I'll report back.  I noticed it when it first said Cyclone Sword (sp?) was dating some guy last name Boyd I think, then it said they married, then they moved into a house together.  So I'll watch them off and on without selecting them, and see if it progresses.  Cyclone is an elder and Boyd is a YA.

40  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 14, 14:04:39
I agree about the elders.  My town has all elders.  If I take my YA anywhere there is no one to talk to but elders.  They do die a lot.  I took him to the public pool yesterday and, of course, elders everywhere.  I watched as the Grim Reaper came twice to take two of them while swimming.

Took him to the restaurant and the Grim Reaper showed up there to take another.

Doesn't the game generate new families?  Where do they go if it does?  Every night everybody in the entire neighborhood moves out.  I run storyprogression move in but the next night they all move again.  I'm getting so sick of elders.  I think I will kill them all off and make all new families.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims finding new routes for walking stand still for hours. on: 2009 July 14, 13:34:28
Have you noticed the following:

Two Sims want to have a conversation so they walk all around the house to find a place to face each other?
You tell a Sim to call someone and they walk through 3 rooms to find a place to use their cellphone or better yet always go in the bathroom to use the cellphone?

And don't even get me started on more than one Sim using a flight of stairs.

But all in all in my game they do work it out everytime without getting stuck, just the useless running all over the place to get in position.
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Suicidal Sims on: 2009 July 13, 18:37:09
I had a sim get frozen twice without anything texture-related, and my computer didn't seem to be straining at all.

Both times she had just finished teaching a toddler to talk and got stuck cross-legged on the ground, needs dropping and life continuing around her as normal.  Didn't move at all.  The toddlers struggled a bit but were unable to escape the interaction/gorgon stare until I used resetsim on their mother.  After that everything was fine.

I haven't had any other sims get the same problem with toddlers, just her.  But she is an evil daredevil, so I figured she hated her kids and was trying to have a who-starves-to-death-first staring contest.

Oh my god, I just sat here and almost peed myself laughing, as this post just struck me so hilarious!
43  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 11, 18:14:48
I'm still using the mod from 7/1/2009 and I don't have the move out problem at all.  I deliberately did not update when I saw some of the problems happening.  Since it does not occur on this version doesn't that imply that something must have been changed since this one that caused this to happen?
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Making Playable Ghosts on: 2009 July 04, 14:10:32
My Sim was at a restaurant and had befriended an elder there Nancy Landgraab and while they were talking the Grim Reaper came and she died.  He was mourning so I took him to the graveyard and chose Manage the Dead, and in there was her tombstone, so I took it out and put it in his inventory.  He already had the opportunity from the Science Lab.

So I took him to the Science Lab and had her brought back and she returned as a ghost and she was walking around at the Science lab.  I thought she was going to be human again.  So I left her there and returned home and thats when I noticed it had added her as a family member.  Ugh!  So then she started hanging at my house and causing problems.  So finally I found she had her own tombstone in her inventory so I clicked on it and it had the option to return to the Netherworld.  So I chose that and she vanished from my family list and I thought I was done with her.

Now she appears everynight haunting the house!  How do I get rid of her?
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: No money for you! Higher bills in three flavours! on: 2009 June 28, 00:01:28
as well as lower the amount of forced interaction for autonomous same-sex lovin' actions.
Note that this particular setting is GLOBAL to your entire neighborhood and permanent, meaning once the level of directed homosexuality crosses that line, anywhere, in the entire neighborhood, all of your sims will become bisexual. An interesting quirk is that there are not, in fact, actual gay sims. All sims are heterosexual by default, and if you attempt to change this for any sim, ALL sims become bisexual. It's really very warped and backwards compared to TS2, and it is recommended you not attempt to change that until the exact results have been researched thoroughly.

Are you saying that since I have some gay Sims in my game now the entire neighborhood is bisexual?  Or are you saying once the entire gay population grows to 10% then everyone becomes bisexual?

47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambrosia on: 2009 June 17, 13:15:35
Had you already gotten the announcement it was his birthday that day?
The same thing happened to me so I exited the game and had my Sim eat a Life Fruit before eating the Ambrosia so she still had a day left.
After her days were reset to the beginning of Adult she continued to age as normal.

No, it hadn't announced it but what you say makes very good sense.  I've since moved way on beyond that point but if it is the day of their birthday i think eating the life fruit first then eating the ambrosia would have worked.  It was obviously the day of his birthday but the system had not announced it.  I've noticed that the game usually announces that their birthday is approaching but it doesn't tell you on the day, unless I am just missing it or I forgot it.

Edit:  Grammar Error
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 16, 15:17:42
Drag and drop them in there?

I'm not quite that stupid that I wouldn't have tried that.  When dragging and dropping to the pond I just get a circle with a slash and they go back to the inventory.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't finish Omniplant Opportunity on: 2009 June 16, 15:09:31
Same here.

The deathfish are kind of lame once you get them mounted, but the robotfish are pretty cool. I just wish you could feed the death flowers to the omniplant. I love those creepy little guys.

I like the deathfish better Tongue. I grow them to stock my pond.

Oh, btw - can you stock a pond with salt water fish, too, or will they die?

How do you stock the pond?  I have a pond at my house but it won't let me add any fish to it.
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hidden Items on: 2009 June 16, 13:06:02
My sim is a mad scientist now ( level 10 Science career ) and now he can experiment on some objects. Sometimes make a couch look better, it gets a glowing circle around it or it catches fire when the experiment fails. Other objects start to make music or a annoying sound. But it can also improve an object, like a fridge can hold more items, and a shower cleans the sim faster.

The only thing my level 10 Scientist can do when she "Experiments On" something is make it give a good mood to people who walk by.  I have tried it on the fridge and the stupid Gnome that moves around.
