1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Think of the children! (Bad Parenting in the Sims 3) on: 2009 July 02, 19:08:32
Our kids sleep like the dead so we have occasionally had the quiet nookie with them nearby.

After Hurricane Ike we were stuck sleeping on a mattress on the floor in a room with no doors for 5 months until they finished putting the house back together (our room was the most trashed in the house) and trust me, we did not abstain all that time.

I want my university, pets and apartments back.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Legacy Challenge for TS3 on: 2009 July 02, 18:12:28
I didn't do anything special, I just have two CAS sims that reproduced a lot.  The first 2 children were spawned inside CAS and the other 4 in game.  They aren't perfectly identical but very, very similar.  When I change their hairstyle and/or color they look a little more distinguishable.

Ironically enough the two that look least alike are the twins.  Twin #1 was the only one who didn't get the parents' hair color (black).  He's a redhead.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Legacy Challenge for TS3 on: 2009 July 02, 18:03:26
I always saw the legacy challenge threads and was interested, but it felt a little limited within the bounds of TS2, if only in that the townies were fairly static and CAS sims were banned.  With TS3, I've been interested, but I've yet to actually devote any time to it because of the lingering ban on CAS, to be honest.  EA sims are Fuglier than all belief, and the gene pool is far too polluted with monstrous characteristics for me to get all that attached to a single family of them.  Is there any way to work around the fugly problem?

I understand the rule about CAS banning - in this way, you cannot create say, neat/natural cook sims to have a free servant for the family at every generation - but what about CAS Sims with randomized traits/wants?  Really, only the appearance matters to me.  Someone about halfway through the thread asked if "editsim" was a legitimate work around, but I didn't see any replies to it.  What about using the two "replaced" neighborhoods available on MATY that have the EA fuglies replaced?  It's possible that I'm missing the point of the ban entirely, but I'm sure there must be some middle ground.

This is actually what made the Sims 2 Legacy so much fun for me.  The pairing of my Legacy sim and her townie mate produced hideous offspring, and my personal challenge was to see how many generations it would take to beautify them!

It is kind of disappointing how identical children tend to be to their parents in Sims 3.  I have a pair of CAS in my main (non-Legacy obviously) neighborhood that had 6 kids and the boys all have nearly identical faces.

(Second topic to avoid double post)
Re jaccirocker's "must be married" rule - it makes more sense to me thematically to say that you may only pick an "illegitimate" heir if no legitimate heir exists.   For legal reasons the illegitimate heir cannot inherit over a legitimate one, but if no child of marriage exists then the illegitimate child can be heir.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Donwload not included, so not for Pudding Factory: New Hair CC by Peggy on: 2009 June 26, 18:26:57
I like the hair, but then again I live in Texas, the big hair capital of the Western World.  I will never, ever use the women's mohawk so I am not particularly bothered that it replaces it.

However, if it causes crashes and/or must be purchased, screw that!

(Paysites must die, yada yada).
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is it only my sims, or they all actually like to flirt with anything that moves? on: 2009 June 11, 20:12:10
My sims do not flirt autonomously, and I even when I beat them they seem reluctant.  By the time they're able to marry their loves have turned into elders.

It is actually a bit annoying, trying to find them appropriate mates.

At least the sim with the "flirty" trait gets some actions to use without having to spend months wooing platonically...
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How exactly can you switch households, bork or no? on: 2009 June 07, 17:00:42
I can live with it, although I'd prefer not losing the want progress, it's not a huge deal.

What about losing your family because the game decided to delete it? I hope you're taking measures against that.

Yikes!  I suppose I could copy the family and put it in the library but then all the relationships are gone too, if I have to restore from there.  They really ought to have differential behavior for player created families so that even if they "progess" they don't just go poof en masse...
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How exactly can you switch households, bork or no? on: 2009 June 07, 05:03:44
I had never actually visited "edit town" because to me that sounded like it was just building creation which I hadn't gotten to yet.  I was able to do it without any problem once y'all pointed me in the right direction.  I agree though - horrible UI design there.

I can live with it, although I'd prefer not losing the want progress, it's not a huge deal.  None of the lifetime wants reset but if it is going to "lose track" of things like the "have 10 boyfriends" want (which really should be "have 10 lovers" to keep it gender neutral, but that's another story) then I will just avoid those wants.

I am sure it's sacrilege but I actually like the story progression and seeing what mischief they get up to when I'm watching another household.  It may get annoying with particular sims that I have a master plan for but for others I'm finding it quite amusing.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / How exactly can you switch households, bork or no? on: 2009 June 06, 18:36:41
I did do a search and didn't find the answer I was looking for so here's a new thread, sorry if somewhere using bizarre language I didn't think of it was already summed up.  But here goes.

I started a family.  It spawned many children. Eventually it was too big (Cool, so I moved two of the adult offspring out on their own, and one got married.  Total # of sims in family 1 is now 6, in family 2 (active is now 3).  I want to switch back to family 1.  I don't care about lost wants or anything like that (well, I *do* care but I am choosing to accept that suckage for now), I just want to switch active households.

Is there a way I can do this?  I can't find any UI to support it, the only thing I can think of is trying to invite someone from family 1 to move in and then seeing if I can move all but 1 other adult sim into family 2, then moving them out again elsewhere and setting them active.  This is however kludgy and annoying.

Is there a better way, oh people of awesomeness?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Seasons: other types of seeds than tomatoes? on: 2007 July 25, 03:55:25
Maybe I just haven't played the new EP enough yet or maybe this is an artifact of my having a custom neighborhood or maybe it's just that I'm dense but I haven't been able to figure out how to plant anything besides tomatoes in my garden plots.  What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

PS.  I don't mean trees, I have those, I mean seeds in the garden.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Car woohooing and date wants questions on: 2006 November 28, 22:35:06
*grin*  I'm female and there is a difference between fucking and making love, and it ain't passion.
There is plenty of passion in both, in fact, I would argue that fucking is pure passion, done raw and "dirty" for the purposes of gratification, regardless of any emotional ties between the participants.  There can be, or may not be, depending on the circumstances.

Whereas "making love" has a whole bunch of emotional stuff rolled into it by the nature of the words.  A one-night stand is never "making love".  It's fucking.  However, a married couple may fuck or make love depending on their mood and their personal tastes.

Personally, I prefer fucking, even with my husband.  "Making love" conjures all these cheesy soft images of very vanilla and boring sex.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would this be possible - hack for random NPC ages? on: 2006 November 15, 23:22:32
Yes, I'd definitely rather have it be random than have to manually set it myself.  Given that it can be done manually in SimPE, how hard would it be for someone who already knows how to create hacks to create a hack for it?
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Would this be possible - hack for random NPC ages? on: 2006 November 15, 05:45:30
I have no idea if this is possible but it seems reasonable so I thought I would pose the question.

One thing that annoys me frequently is that when my Sims marry (or otherwise invite to the household) NPC Sims, they are always at the very beginning of the age spectrum for their age group.  So my original player Sim always dies first (unless I use the elixir of life, which I don't like to use at all, or unless I make sure the original player Sim is very unhappy when he/she becomes elder).

What I was pondering was the idea of a hack to randomize the actual age in days of NPC Sims when they become player Sims, to be somewhere between the ends of the age range.  This way, some NPCs would be playable for longer than others, but it would add some realism to the game.  (If Mary Sim was dating Goopy for eight days after she became an adult, it seems silly he would still be at the very beginning of the adult range).  I know it isn't feasible to track actual NPC age since they pretty much stay the same age until they become controllable, but to randomize their exact ages at that point seems like an interesting compromise.  Note that the age "group" would remain unchanged -  Goopy is still an adult, Yvette Dalton is still a young adult etc.

Alternatively I'm just going to start making my sims drink elixir when in the red and hope it ages them a bit.  But I like the hack idea better.

What thinkest thou awesome modders?
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / pet bowl whine on: 2006 November 07, 16:53:56
Ok, the pet bowl is perfectly symmetrical.  It's circular.

How come then, can it have a preferred direction, and if your bowl happens to be pointed toward the wall, your poor cat will starve itself nearly to death before you figure out that that is why it is ignoring the food bowl?

Grrrrrr....

Toddlers will spontaneously cuddle puppies, it is WAY cute!
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: False cheating bug? on: 2006 October 23, 13:25:38
Just an update for anyone else having this issue that getting that twojeff's latest fix did seem to cure it.  Yay!
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: False cheating bug? on: 2006 October 22, 05:49:37
I just downloaded ACR a couple days ago but I'll doublecheck that you haven't updated it since then... ah, you have!  Ok, I will get the new one then.

Thank you!
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: False cheating bug? on: 2006 October 22, 04:31:53
Is the romance mod pets friendly?  I thought I saw that it wasn't.  Ah well, I will add it back in and see what happens
(Along with nobabyharassment because not having it is driving me insane.)
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / False cheating bug? on: 2006 October 22, 04:26:48
I had thought that the "false cheating" bug was fixed by the drama mod (met self?) but apparently not since I downloaded JMP's latest version of that mod today before launching the game and am still getting this freaking bug constantly since I installed pets.

Basically what happens is a Sim 1 who has a crush or is in love with another sim 2 thinks that sim 2 is cheating whenever 1&2 have a romantic interaction like a kiss or a hug, and then they end up slapping each other and becoming enemies.

I had never seen this before Pets but now it is really interfering with my ability to play the game Sad

Is there a Pets compatible mod that does actually fix this problem, or was my assumption that it was the drama mod correct but that mod just not working.
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: First Major Bug found with Pets on: 2006 October 20, 15:14:24
I moved the hacks that were supposedly error-likely into another folder (under The Sims 2 but NOT under downloads) and the game still picked them up! (I was still seeing naughty bits and the phone was wonky beyond belief)

Before I logged in the next time I moved that folder completely outside of the The Sims 2 path and then the hacks weren't in the game anymore.

However, I did experience the bug the OP reported.  I just exited without saving.  I'd never actually had that happen before so I was trying to figure out which mod I will want to fix it but I'm unclear as to whether JMP has upgraded it yet.  If not, I shall be patient.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets + custom careers & majors - anyone tried yet? on: 2006 October 19, 17:55:12
Thanks a bunch for that link, I don't usually go to that site so that was really helpful.

Luckily I don't have huge amounts of hacks - except for the censor, careers and majors all of my hacks are Awesome.

I will probably take them out and just readd them later.  Luckily (?) I am very careful about binning files I download so I can find stuff easily and all the careers and majors are in their own folders.

Thanks again, you rock!
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Take your baby to work day on: 2006 October 19, 13:15:11
My grandma sim was feeding the baby when I sent her to work (in the car)... and she took the baby with her!

It came back when she did (reappeared laying on the ground next to the car), but had stinky diapers all day.

Bizarre.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pets + custom careers & majors - anyone tried yet? on: 2006 October 19, 13:11:54
The topic pretty much says it... has anyone tried using any custom careers or majors with the new E.P. yet?

Also, IIRC if you delete the custom careers & majors and then start the game, any sims who had previously been assigned the removed careers & majors will either show up as "unemployed" or "undeclared" until the packages are returned to the downloads folder - is that correct?

(My copy should arrive today or tomorrow, but I would rather avoid having to change all my sims' careers and majors before I install it... if I can just remove the packages and readd them after install that would be much nicer.)
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I've done it! on: 2006 October 18, 17:45:37
Moral sims?  Where's the fun in that? :p

I live a pretty moral life, the Sims is an opportunity to live vicariously and be naughtier than in real life Smiley

Most of my sims go through at least 3 lovers in their lives.  Not all, of course.  Some do still marry the childhood sweetheart so to speak, and once married my Sims rarely divorce... but there are a number of "playboy" sims in my hood, not just the romance ones for that matter.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Running a Sim Brothel on: 2006 October 18, 17:17:25
In what way is the casual romance mod conflicting with LizzLove's bed?  I have been using both together for awhile now and hadn't noticed a problem.

My brothel has 3 LL beds set to autonomous on but pay attention to preferences and also a hot-tub for non-autonomous.  I had an employee once (a male to service the ladies) and he did indeed get it on with them autonomously.  The controlling sim is the primary lady-of-the-night though.

It was annoying to have to boot out married family sims though, I might try raising the prices and relying on dazzle as someone previously suggested.  The nice thing about autonomy though is a  lot of time the customers entertained each other and I still got paid for it.  Kinda like a hotel that rents rooms by the hour Smiley
