TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Reporters not reporting?
|
on: 2006 March 07, 01:56:32
|
As if OFB didn't have enough annoyances, right? So, I found the Reporter on my first business lot that I've opened, writing away on his clipboard. I think, "Okay, the Prima guide claims that the Reporter only needs to gain 100 Customer Loyalty points (enough for the first Star)." So, I go over and Dazzle said Reporter, he gains a Star, and immediately decides he wants to check out. After checking out, he leaves. End of story. No Good Review, no Bad Review; he just leaves. This is really frustrating me, as my business owner keeps rolling the want to win a "Best of the Best Award." Plus, I want to plant a few of those awards around the store because, according to the Prima guide, Sims who view them will gain a jump-start to their Buy bar on the next item they browse.

It would make more sense if sims rolled a want to gain a talent level!
They do actually. One of my sims wanted to get Silver in the robotic skill, then Gold after he got silver. What I'm planning on doing is having a few people with Robot shops and have them just sell their equipment to everyone else. Not everyone has the talent to build a "sentient" electronic being. This would almost be a feasible idea if not for the fact that none of the crafting workbenches can be marked as "For Sale."

Uh...maybe I didn't explain what I was saying clear enough. After you move the gravestones to the community lot, you need to exit your Sim's lot (saving) and load the cemetary in Edit mode. Trying to visit a cemetary with Sims to move gravestones will not work, as no data on the community lot is altered when visiting with a Sim. You have to enter it directly from the Neighborhood screen.

Instead of moving a gravestone to a Sim's Inventory from the home lot, simply click on the stone with a Sim and select the (I think) "Move All to Community Lot" option. Then select what lot you want them on, save & exit, and enter that lot so you can position them accordingly.

Can't you just not develop one of the required skill for advancement. That would leave the sim stuck in his job.
Forgot how to read, didn't you? while having plenty of skills and having aquaintances?
That's basically the whole point: mistymage doesn't want to have to leave one skill at a certain level in order to do that. Take Cleaning for example. Some job levels that a person might want to let their Sim hold have a low Cleaning requirement, but that person can't stand Sims that clean slowly and inefficiently. Thus, this person would have a use for such a hack.

I don't agree that expansion can't help but make the core game easier. For example, if downtown Dates consumed real time instead of producing a time-warp that takes place instantly, they would be pretty much like any other aspiration raising social activity. New objects don't have to be better, just different. It would be easy to fix this (without having 2-4 hours suddenly disappear for any Sims still at home). After you send your Sim home from a community lot (either a date or just on a lot), the game could remember how much time that Sim spent there. When you return to the home lot and that amount of time has passed, then that Sim would return home. In the meantime, you could still make sure the other Sims in the household were passing time like normal while the Sim that went to a comm. lot is still "at" the lot.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Continually changing chemistry

Nightlife's Chemistry system was designed with the intention of allowing couples who had already "earned their wings" (i.e. they were in love/engaged/married) to stay together easier by making it impossible for them to have any negative Chemistry.
Note: This is according to the Prima guide. We all know that the Prima guide isn't always right...

Since when could you not meet Burglars before Nightlife? I've been able to meet them anytime I wanted (when they showed up, anyways ) without any problem at all. All ya' gotta do is wait until the cop puts the Burglar in to the car and walks in to your house. Before he reaches your Sim to do that "Hey, you helped catch a known criminal" thing, you can click on the car and open the rear door. You'll then "meet" the Burglar and be given some daily and lifetime relationship scores in the 20-30ish range.

Check to make sure you don't have Post Processing enabled (boolprop enablePostProcessing true) and especially make sure that you do not have this cheat inserted in your userStartup.cheat config file. Starting up The Sims 2 and loading a neighborhood with Post Processing enabled originally corrupts your graphics and the game must be restarted with the cheat off in order to correct the problem.
Entering a neighborhood and then enabling Post Processing, however, does not produce any ill effects (that I've come across, anyways.)

I've hardly had any popups with firefox. Such a big relief. Popups are so annoying. Funny, I haven't had one popup with IE since I installed Service Pack 2 when it came out. But seriously, SP2's built-in popup blocker in IE works pretty well. And, contrary to popular belief when it first came out, SP2 is not bad for your computer.

Dunno, I've had issues with some previous versions of Firefox and Macromedia Flash, says it's installing then doesn't. Not everyone runs their PCs the Microsoft way you know...
'Tis one of many reasons why I don't want to try FireFox. It seems to be incompatible with a lot of things I use on a regular basis, like the Flash Player plugin for example.

PS - You'll need a MacroMedia Flash Player to get the full effect. Any internet user whose browser does not have Flash installed deserves to be smacked. There's no reason not to install it and it comes pre-installed in IE with XP now...
