51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twins in OFB on: 2006 March 28, 03:58:19
The Prima Guide tells that eating Cheesecake before conception is supposed to "increase" (by 100%, lol) the chances, not after conception.

I just finished testing this. I had my female Sim eat Cheesecake before she did Try For Baby with her spouse and then I froze both their motives, stuck them on Procrastinate, and fast-forwarded to the 3rd trimester. I tossed another Cheesecake in to one of their inventories, let the birth happen, and she had a single kid. I reloaded, let her take a bite of Cheesecake, and voila, twins!

I guess I hoped too much that Maxis and Prima would agree on a game's "features"...
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twins in OFB on: 2006 March 28, 02:53:09
I hate creating test Sims specifically for these purposes...I guess I'll make her look nice so I can just toss her in the townie pool when I'm done instead of deleting her and leaving an unlinked Sim reference. 20 minutes, maybe...
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Twins in OFB on: 2006 March 28, 02:46:22
Twins are determined on conception, guys, not birth. Cheesecake is supposed to work so that if a Sim does Try For Baby within 1-2 hours after eating it, there's a higher chance that there'll be twins.

Eating Cheesecake after a Sim is already pregnant shouldn't be doing anything...  Undecided

Townie Aspiration Level does not change at all while on dates. You can watch this by playing a date through its entirety and just before it ends, use Debug Mode to make the townie selectable. You'll see that the Aspiration Level sits at neutral pretty much all the time. It will only change once the townie is moved into a household and made playable somewhere in the neighborhood.

Did someone say Cheaty?

Exactly how arcane is the code for inventories, anyways? Is it highly prone to make a BFBVFS?
56  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Offer Cheap: Don't Give Away My Store! on: 2006 March 27, 02:12:29
No one has experienced the problem I mentioned above?
57  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Offer Cheap: Don't Give Away My Store! on: 2006 March 26, 15:41:57
This could be useful to me, but oddly enough, it doesn't matter. The "Offer At" Sales interaction never works correctly in my game, no matter who uses it.

If my Owner uses it, the Buy bar on the affected customer will rise and then fall back to its original level about 5 seconds later. Even if the interaction would have made a sale (where you hear the "ding"), the customer never picks the item up and ultimately the bar falls back to near-empty. The same thing happens when any Employees use it on customers.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMD or Intel? on: 2006 March 25, 23:00:35
Once again, it's not really worth it at all. Take an nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX. If you had one of those, you would get beautiful framerates in pretty much every single one of your games (given the rest of your computer is up to snuff). Would it be worth it to SLI two GeForce 7800 GTX's? No. There won't be any noticeable difference in performance, and that's all that really counts to most gamers.

Now, it might be cheaper to SLI say, two GeForce 6600GT's together and the performance would be improved, but then those 6600GT's would get outdated in less than 6 months and newer games wouldn't have the same smooth performance on those older cards.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Split-Level Interior Foundations on: 2006 March 25, 21:44:34
The split-level foundations work fine for me. Connecting stairs work, furniture works...Maybe you have a conflict somewhere?
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AMD or Intel? on: 2006 March 25, 16:20:57
SLI isn't worth the money. It's pretty straight-forward, really. You get more bang for your buck with one video card in one PCI-Express x16 slot than you do with two video cards in two PCI-Express x16 slots that are now each running at x8.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Shop till you drop on: 2006 March 25, 00:45:47
Of course not. Given that the game probably wasn't even gold when Prima "finalized" its guide, Maxis probably took it out (or *gasp* screwed up their coding).
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How is the new OFB patch working for everyone? on: 2006 March 23, 00:23:54
I haven't installed the patch at all, but I guess that's because I haven't had any problems with vanilla OFB.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help needed - coffee or bar business at home on: 2006 March 19, 22:35:20
The Espresso Bars and Juice Bars all work perfectly on my Business lots (Community only, anyways). I assigned a teenage employee I had to one of them and customers were paying just fine. Even Mrs. Crumplebottom, who isn't really a Sim, paid.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone encounter the black neighbourhood when making a new one? on: 2006 March 19, 21:24:26
The only time I've ever encountered a black neighborhood is when I enabled post-processing before I tried to enter one on the game's load-up. Apparently neighborhood view doesn't like post-processing that much. Debug mode makes this happen sometimes too, which is why I removed them both from my userstartup.cheat file.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Sales Employees! on: 2006 March 13, 00:56:02
The problems you just mentioned aren't even the worst of it. Several of my Sales employees (who have worked themselves up to a Gold Sales Badge at this point) keep unnecessarily using Dazzle and Hard Sell when either 1) the target is close enough to buying that Basic Sell would do or 2) the target is in a bad mood/has low Customer Loyalty and thus doesn't accept the interaction.

I've had to stop hiring Sales employees and reassigning the ones I did have because they were making my business lose lots of Customer Loyalty Stars.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Car dichotomy on: 2006 March 09, 21:45:53
Wholesale Mode doesn't make a damn bit of difference regarding products for sale. It is basically an easier way to place objects without having to subsequently mark them as "For Sale." If you'll take notice, when you place an item straight out of the catalog and mark it "For Sale," you are refunded the difference between the catalog and wholesale prices. If you mark the same item as not "For Sale," the same difference that was refunded to you is now deducted.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Burglars... on: 2006 March 09, 03:54:47
I haven't seen a Burglar at any of my Sim's lots since I installed University. They just don't come anymore. I guess my menacing mansions scare them.  Roll Eyes
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 09, 03:52:03
But see, that's not all the Prima guide says. It claims that you need 100 Customer Loyalty points gained by the Reporter in order to get a Good Review. Obviously, if the Reporter is newly-spawned and is on his/her first visit to your business, 100 points gets you his/her first Loyalty Star. Now, think about it: When you get this first star, wouldn't it tip you off, "Hey, I just got 100 points, where's my review?"

Anyways, another Reporter came by the floral shop a day later and gave me a Good Review. Apparently you can't get a Good Review when the Best of the Best Award is awarded.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 08, 03:46:34
If you buy an object while not in Wholesale mode and then mark it as "For Sale," you are refunded the difference between what you paid for the object and the Wholesale price. Just watch your cash next time you do that and you'll see what I mean.

So, a Reporter finally did his job. So well in fact that my newly opened floral shop got the Best of the Best Award on the Reporter's first visit while the business was still Rank 0.  Roll Eyes
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Kids, Mrs. Crumplebottom, etc on: 2006 March 08, 01:08:07
Mrs. Crumplebottom is a retard in my game. She'll pace the sidewalk in front of my businesses for days on end, yelling at people and knitting. The only way I can get her to leave is to have my two playable Sims (husband and wife) make out, on which she promptly steps inside the building to whack the husband with her purse. After that, she'll leave after a few Sim hours...  Undecided
71  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 08, 00:58:37
If the reporter leaves and you get do not get a good or bad review, it meant you got a "meh" review that was neither good nor bad.

So we're to assume that the Prima guide's info concerning the Reporter and how many Customer Loyalty points he/she needs to gain is BS?
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 07, 04:09:23
Question: Where is this "star 10" crap coming from? Last time I checked, customers only had 5 slots for positive Customer Loyalty stars...

And, although I appreciate the input that people have been having regarding the Reporter working in their game, that doesn't really help me now, does it?  Undecided

EDIT: D'oah...you meant Business Level 10...  Cheesy
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I thought that patch made cemetaries possible on: 2006 March 07, 04:06:59
My only idea is that it could be a hack conflict. Gravestones appear just fine on community lots after I move them using the "Move all..." interaction and enter the lot in Build mode.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Reporters not reporting? on: 2006 March 07, 02:02:11
Well, the Prima guide mentions an invisible "Shopping" want that all Sims now possess and the goal of a business owner is to not complete satisfy that want. Apparently a Sim whose Shopping want is nowhere near filled will get larger starting bonuses to their Buy bars than one whose Shopping want is almost satisfied. Perhaps the Reporter I had didn't have much of a Shopping want in the first place? I dunno.

I had another Reporter on another lot earlier today who gained three Customer Loyalty Stars within 3 hours, stayed for the other 2, and still left without giving a review.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Object Crafting: Do we really have the time? on: 2006 March 07, 01:59:48
My interpretation of the Prima guide's explanation was this: Skills don't directly affect Talent-related tasks, but they instead give a boost to Talents by allowing the associated Talent with each skill to be improved faster. A Sim with full Body skill, for example, will improve on Restocking twice as fast as a Sim with no Body skill, or rather, he will gain Talent Badges in half the time that the no-Body Sim will.
