26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots not loading in OFB -- possibly related to ReNuYuSenso Orb? on: 2006 March 05, 16:08:44
Spambi,

Yes, the ReNuYuSenso Orb will cause the lot to hang and not load. Load the lot in debug mode and when you get the error about the orb, just click delete. The lot will load fine then.

If you put a new Orb on the lot, the game will load fine. It's just the orbs that were placed in NL that give a problem.
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Babynapping is back! on: 2006 March 04, 15:20:37
When I had that happen to a toddler, and she was unselectable and acting like a baby, I exited and went into SimPE, where she was in fact shown as a baby.  so I aged her up to toddler there and then loaded the game again.  This time she appeared by the mailbox as a toddler, and selectable.

That was my original idea, but SimPE hasn't been updated for OFB Sad At least there was a round-a-bout way of getting it done in the meantime.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Don't they play their own game??? on: 2006 March 04, 03:43:44
Another issue is that if a ReNu You Senso Orb is on your lot, it won't load in your hood or Uni.

That essentially takes 90% of my families out of play. Maybe more.

So far my "gamplay" tonight  has consisted of waiting for the game to load, waiting for a lot to load, alt-tabbing out when it doesn't load, shutting down w/task manager, then doing it all over again.

Boy, this EP sure is fun.   Cry

If you open the lot in debug mode, you'll get the option to delete the Orb and then the lot loads fine after that. And if you put on back on your lot, it will open fine the next time.
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Babynapping is back! on: 2006 March 04, 01:26:32
Thanks all.

I decided to be brave and for the good of all simmers, save and exit to see what happens.

Went back into the lot, toddler was acting like a baby in front of the mailbox. Sims could not select her. I really haven't used boolprop (only a few weeks ago I learned some of it's power in figuring out I had a hidden career that was screwing up my game).

Had to quit out and install my first hacks back - InSim Dest edition and Merola's Mirror. Used the mirror to make the "baby" selectable and then used the select age to age her up to an adult. Once she was an adult, I had the option to age her back to toddler. Saved and returned to neighborhood.

Finally, I went back into the house, the toddler was back to a toddler and finally selectable.

I think I might start a test family in a new neighborhood and see if it was only the reporter who can kidnap or if anyone can.
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Babynapping is back! on: 2006 March 03, 23:28:14
 Angry

Couple has a home based business. Toddler wandered into the store area and asked the reporter of all people to pick her up. When I closed the store, the reporter walked off the lot with my toddler! Her picture is no longer shown in the household.

What should I do? Quit without saving? Or if I save and come back in, do you think the baby will be back where she belongs?
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: simdad won't go to work on: 2006 March 03, 23:24:30
I just had this issue. I also had it with NL so it's nothing new. I wish the mother could have said to the husband - "go to work, I'm staying home".
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 03, 20:05:14
The only issue I've had with the game so far is the ReNuYuSenso Orb making lots not load. Thanks for the suggestion to run in debug mode and delete.

I'm going to start putting hacks back into the game tonight (especially the phone hack. My poor Sim was trying to run his business and his darn cellphone kept ringing with the "You never call me" messages).
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So Who Has OFB, Then? on: 2006 March 02, 22:33:05
My copy arrived today. I've been spending a good portion of the afternoon going through my hacks and checking to see if they've been updated or not.

I'll be putting the game on later tonight and we'll see how it goes.
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So Who Has OFB, Then? on: 2006 March 01, 18:00:14
Mine should be here tomorrow. Figures since I'm home sick today Sad
Well if it will make you happy, I will pray that you are sick tomarrow too. Smiley

Oh that's quite ok LOL. I just want to get rid of the bronchitis cough NOW (yesterday would have been better). But maybe tomorrow I'll still be a bit "weak" and have to leave work early Wink

I hope my copy arrives tomorrow (preordered from EA)

I'm going to back up my EAGames folder, remove my hacks folder and have at it. If the game plays ok, I'll start adding things back in just to see.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 21, 15:41:36
I have on several occasions. I use to keep a subscription up at TSR and other various sites. Not now though.

I'm thinking about doing a one month at a couple of other sites that have some items I'd love to have.

39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 16, 14:01:59
Do you remember the Sinclair?

Got me on that one LOL! Punch cards were a bit before my time as well. We had the 8" drive for converting info from our PC to a client's Mini. Finally the client got rid of the Mini and no more 8" disks.

That's pretty interesting about the first computer. I didn't know that.

And when the program files were on tape!

We still have a 9-track tape drive at work. Here's one for you... do you remember 8" diskettes?
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 16, 13:30:19
I'm glad you found it.  Now that you have removed it, is everything going like it should?

Everything is working great. Thanks for asking Smiley

(and I had to giggle about the three-finger salute. I'm definately old enough to have been using computers before Windows and when computers had big red switches on them).
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 16, 02:44:47
I found it!

I figured it had to have been in one of my Misc folders. Sure enough, there was an Education career hiding in my Misc from Installed Houses folder. Definately not on purpose.

Thanks BlueSoup, Zephyr, Angel & Anelca for pointing me in the direction.

And I thought I was so careful when reloading my downloads too.  Roll Eyes
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 15, 22:53:27
I tried Disabling/quitting/enabling/quitting/entering neighborhood.

Each and every lot I try to access (even in build mode!) get a JobData-Adult-Athletics #677/#312/#235/#223 Error: Invalid Constant. I had to "Delete" in order for the houses/lots to load. Once in, the game plays fine.

I'm at the point of either doing the folder shuffle or removing my downloads and reinstalling.

One other thing I haven't tried - I only play in Pleasantview. Maybe I should try Strangetown and see if the errors happen there too.
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 15, 15:56:23
I have all the expansions plus the stupid Holiday pack (and I have pre-ordered OFB too).

I loaded the game last night with the organized downloads folder. Turned on Debug mode and loaded "my" house, which is one that would just hang and never open.

I got an error with the Sports job, which was weird because there was nobody in that house who is in that line of work. I reset the error and the house opened. I was missing carpet and the kitchen table and chairs reverted back to defaults. The girls bedding changed back to defaults too.

I turned debug mode off and played for an hour or so with no issues. Saved and exited to the neighborhood.

Then I tried to open up a different house and it hung and wouldn't open. Guess I shouldn't have turned debug mode off  Roll Eyes Had to force shut down the game.

Then, I went into my logs folder and there were a BUNCH of logs created last night. Something with lighting, audio and even an Excel spreadsheet.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 14, 20:48:47
Have you got a lot of hacks installed?  Some hacks are rather fussy about loading order and have to be loaded after other hacks in order to co-exist.  Since everything loads in alphabetical order by folder and then file name (this is apparently why some creators stick a "z" at the beginning of the filename,) putting stuff in separate folders could trip you up by causing, say, a file in a folder named "Bug Fixes" to load before one in a folder named "Global Hacks" when it should have loaded after.  I had to rearrange some of my subfolders for this reason.  Just a thought.

All of my hacks are lumped together in a "Hacks" folder. That is probably the only folder that didn't change.

Edited to add: I'm leaving work shortly (yippee!!) and will give the ideas here a try. At risk of my lips, I'm going to say I love it here  Grin
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 14, 17:43:46
Have you tried starting the game in debug mode?

Now for a totally stupid question - how do you start in debug mode?
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Why would my game blow up with an organized downloads folder? on: 2006 February 14, 17:11:30
So, after a week of organizing I was finally able to play.

I get to the neighborhood view of Pleasantview fine, but when I click on a house it never completely loads. I have to give the three-finger salute to quit out of the game.

I've tried different houses. One time I actually got into a lot, but time was frozen. The Sims were frozen.

I deleted the Groups.cache and it didn't make a difference.

In order to play, I had to move my backup copy of my unorganized downloads folder back and everything loads up fine.

Ideas anyone? Maybe I have a bad download. Gosh, the thought of moving one subfolder at a time back is giving me a headache. Maybe I need some of the Massacre day alcohol Wink

edited to add - I've run CleanInstaller to check for duplicates and removed all duplicate files. It didn't help.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Thanks to JadeElliot, I'm organizing my downloads folder. But, I can't identify on: 2006 February 12, 21:33:42
Well, why not run them through clean Installer - that often lists things by Creator or site.

If the creator doesn't put their name in the .package file, Clean Installer can't tell me.

Last night I gave up and just MiscObject, MiscClothes, MiscGenetics all of my remaining unidentified items.

THEN I went onto installing premade Sims and Houses.

Today I actually get to play and see how many BLUE items I end up with and need to have SimPE fix for me.  Roll Eyes

Thank you thank you!

I realized I miscategoried gigge prefixed items too.

When I would go on a downloading frenzy, I would sometimes forget to bookmark the site. I totally forgot about Sage Sims.

(and at first I was going to ask who "FA, FE, ME" were until I realized they were Female Adult... Those were All About Style.
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Thanks to JadeElliot, I'm organizing my downloads folder. But, I can't identify on: 2006 February 11, 04:00:18
The downloads with a "mat" prefix seem to be bedding. Downloaded 3/05

The downloads with "tp_ts2" are clothes (swim suits and pj's). Downloaded 3/05

"em" are a shawlneck something-or-other. Downloaded 11/05

Maybe tomorrow I'll remove my download folder and just install some of these items so I can get screenshots. I've been working on this project for DAYS now and I'm afraid to play before I'm done.

Lyall - I have a couple of Katherine things too. I think they are still awaiting "processing"  Cheesy

I really appreciate all the help.
