sorry assholes.  i pass spell check except for a few typos and the technical words.
maybe you should try getting a comp sci degree?  oohh..  comp sci.  that might be
too difficult for you.  computer science.   that of course uses words more then one
syllable...  so you may not get that either.

good to see you!

i lost my computer, strangely although it passed every diagnostic we gave it, it randomly
crashed,.  ii was using a laptop then and the little tiny screen bugged me, and it was
too slow.    just got a rocket powered new machine with 2 gig of memory for the
graphics board.  8 gig, and i have two terrabyte disks.  i remember when having a
terrabyte of data was something only huge mainframe like computers had and you
had to use virtual disks to make it seem like one disk.

oh yeah i had to upgrade my graphics several times because a new expansion would
crash without opening.  several of your minions called me a moron but hahah, the
upgrade to video board fixed it both times!
.

also i was dead sick, you remember im disabled with only 10% of my diaphram. well
we had the worst pollen summer here, i was actually watching   TV!!!  i had 5 sinus
infections and im just getting over the winter stuff now.

ive got linux on the laptop too.  its not unix but...  and i got a unix overlay for the
pc.  its called mks and i managed to get an old copy for $50.  are you interested?

ages ago i got the links for the preorder bonus objects.  now i got rid of the link years ago and now my bonus stuff is missing.   also, when i last did this seasons was brand new some im wondering if ther eare more someone could kindly link me to?
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: game run problems, with no saved data.. huh? on: 2008 January 13, 03:02:57
i posted some secondary questions after the first issue.  which was posted in timewise order from when i first got the game,  which is exactly the most useful format i found in my proffessiolnal life.  had you read this you would have noted that i had removed entirely the custom data folder.   and i again specified that i had removed ALL the custom data in the second post.  all in most vocabularies usually means ALL.  which means custom hacks and download directories.  if you want to play games with petty insults thats fine.   now if you dont want to answer, thats fine.  be aware though that a senator's rank on a game bulletin board does not automatically impress someone who made their living for twenty years doing unix administration, system debugging and programming in the real world.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: game run problems, with no saved data.. huh? on: 2008 January 11, 00:53:07
yes its just H&M.  i double checked by reinstalling  back over bon voyage after upgrading my video driver.   still causes
game to halt at black screen with arrow cursor.  nothing in logs at all of interest, it starts reporting things.. and
thats all it wrote.

i thought of the video driver because oddly enough, thats what used to happen with body shop and my chip.  or
rather the earlier behavior where it would get an hourglass and then just die.   eventually they fixed bodyshop
for that intel chip,  and things were good through pets until i got to seasons and celebration.

yup, new folder entirely. not a hair from anywhere.  unless..   i made modifications for custom stairs in the
game portion of the system.   i could try removing those....

well, thanks for the attempt. i might wait around and see if anyone else reports an issue though.  its a nvidea geoforce
5200 card.    if there if something wrong with the stairs or the card i would think someone else might have noticed the
same thing.  its especially odd because you would think a 'stuff pack'  would put less new requirements on the system
and the graphics then the whole bon voyage expansion would.  yet its definitely H&M that hangs...

what DOES H&M stand for, anyone?

and are they EVER going to fix the 'find your own bed bug'?   inge's hacks are getting further out of date..    the
clothing controller vase no longer works either and that was my best way of making sure everyone didn't wander
around all day in their jammies.   i used to set it for 'everyday'  and put one in every hallway and then people would
change out of pool/gym,work/jammies/underwear as soon as they came in without having to worry about getting
all the modified doors.    is there anything to replace this now?
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: game run problems, with no saved data.. huh? on: 2008 January 10, 23:05:30
data means all data.  everything.   the entire custom directory was moved aside and started with all new virgin stuff made by the game.

yes, my computer is capable of playing the sims2.    the requirements of the game are quite low and the game actually will barely play on a computer with those requirements.  note that i said that i was playing the sims all the time before.   mine is far more powerful then the requirements and played up to pets with no more problems then people normally have with all the bugs, except for the problems caused by having a graphics chip.  then, as i said, after i got the chip changed to a board i was able to play the celebration and seasons just fine.   this indicates that the computer is capable of playing the sims2.

duh, i deinstalled.  that was not the question.    anyone can not play the sims and then not have a problem. i dont need a bulletin board to figure that out.

after some experimentation,  right now i can run up to bonvoyage just fine, at least with virgin data.. yes all the data.   its just when i put the h&m pack back on after that it causes the game to just disappear with no visible sign of anything, including an application crash.  i get the hourglass, and then it goes away.  nothing of interest in the logs either.

thanks for the dxdiag.  whether its the graphics card or not,  checking it and then upgrading the driver is a good thing for me to check and i couldn't remember the name of the program.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / game run problems, with no saved data.. huh? on: 2008 January 10, 22:02:51
i hit a wall awhile back trying to install the seasons..   and it wouldnt run.  not even when i moved all my data aside and started it with allowing it to make an all new save directory.   since i had a dumb graphics chip i figured that was the problem.   and i was burnt on playing sims all the time so i took a break.  so while computer was in shop for something else i had a graphics card installed.  now all sorts more stuff runs.  i got the seasons on and the celebration pack.   they run fine with no data, and im slowly adding my stuff in.  but im behind.  i load the h&m pack and ...  wont run.  not even when i move my stuff aside again.   im playing with deinstalling it and trying just bonvoyage..  i  loaded bonvoyage and actually got a cursor..    but maybe H&m is dragging it down. so like.. what is it?   is anyone else having this kind of problem?   i mean i'll click on the game and it quits without saying anything.  highly annoying.

whats the name of that thing i run again to find out my graphics card? i forget now but i think i got nvidea..  it was one of the ones maxis supports intentionally.   xconfig..   something like that?

thanks in advance for the help.

i got all the stuf.  that was well, AWESOME.  thanks guys.  i thank you and my little simmies thank you!
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / hidden stuff for preorders and other like things on: 2008 January 08, 13:00:35
i got the link here once for all the free and preorder extra maxis stuff up to the pets release.   is there more since then? i'd appreciate knowing how to get stuff if its there.  thanks in advance... Shocked
11  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2006 December 08, 07:48:45
maybe it IS a space issue, the action is dropped then respawned.  i'll try to change the bathroom and see if anything changes in that house.

You see, IF I were to place a bookcase in a corner, and then stick a potted plant imediately in front of it, then click on the bookcase and tell a sim to "Read Book", it would fail, because the bookcase cannot be reached. The action would be dropped. If I did the same thing with a toilet and a potted plant, and tried to tell a sim to use the toilet, the same thing would happen. The action would fail, it would be dropped from the queue, and the sim would go and do something else. Now this has nothing to do with hacked objects or the configuration of any of them and their abilities to "co-operate" with each other, it's simply that a "route failure" SHOULD result in the action being dropped - whether that route failure is due to a locked door or a plant pot in front of the clicked object shouldn't matter... the object is inaccessible, the sim fails to reach it - the action is dropped.
The "route failure, drop action" behavior tends to be rather irritating when sims drop actions because of some temporary obstacle in their path, such as someone else's fat ass. Some of the more forceful objects are thus programmed to retry the action immediately until it succeeds. Failure is not an option! DAMN THE TORPEDOES! FULL SPEED AHEAD!

The bottom line: Bathroom Uses You is meant to supplant the necessity of locking bathrooms at all, since any casual pest wandering into the bathroom is forcibly commanded to sod off and punted to an alternate docking port or the waiting queue.

Except you people insist on running these silly "apartment blocks" which the game architecture is simply not designed for. There is simply no really good way to reliably recognize mutilated house configurations like this.

i hope this post gets noticed, its been some time since anyone posted.  although im using the newest directors cut version, my cat attempting to pee in the toilet has gotten caught in a loop, the ring around the pee icon refreshes/expires,  and the cat gets taken away for starvation.  neither deleting the tp or the toilet will break the loop, nor exiting and re-entering the house.  i dont have any hacks unfortunately to unlearn the pee comand.
Are you using a custom terlet other than the Pets Flushforce? Pre-Pets Custom Terlets may not be pet-enabled.

not a custom toilet no.  and im pretty sure ive had cats use it before okay.  just this cat in the one house, and its not a custom cat or anything.    for the other kind person, no i dont think it was animation failure, although the animation got funny at the same time.  im suspecting that the animation was just interupting and looping back with the same code problem.

its better though, i was able to undo the toilet learning with christopherlovs learner by setting the value to the negative end.  because its functon was to 'learn' i forgot about the negative end.  if you want me to i can try to recreate this, force error and send the log to you,  if i knew what address to send it to.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dogs, maids, tubs and beds. on: 2006 November 24, 02:26:34
all the canada border states yes.  but not central park...   except for that bill.  which was supposed to be real btw,  i got it from some defenders of wildlife material.

Last time I checked, PA, MD, WVA and VA weren't border states, and we have Timber Wolves here. Some of them have been bold enough (along with some coyotes) to come into the suburbs, too.  There was a rash of small dogs killed by either a wolf or a coyote in Arlington VA late last year and early this year, and Arlington is right across the river from Washington D.C.

New York is a border state, though, so maybe the wolves will find their own way to Central Park.

well im pleasantly surprised to find out there were more wolves then i thought.  of course i realize now its been a long time since it was news that they were in the border states, so maybe ii shouldnt be too surprised.

well i screwed up that reply.  its an old glitch.  i saw it happen as far back as uni.  im not sure why you didnt see this before.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Adopted kids losing grades on day of adoption on: 2006 November 24, 01:19:50

Is this a glitch with the new EP? Because pre-Pets this didn't happen.

Thanks in advance for any help/funny comments you may post.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Confusion (dumb pets questions) on: 2006 November 24, 01:18:17
Do any of you have pets not fullfilling their needs to survive? I had a cat that wouldn't lick itself, although I was watching it day and night to praise if she even attempted to do it- nope she went waaay into the red, every other cat ran away from the smell. And I had one dog alone at home he refused to eat (from 3 different full bowls) and almost died! I didn't know of the cheat then, but the owner got home just in time and commanded him to go and eat. Maybe the dog was upset at being home alone? (social bar was green, by the way)
Pretty realistic to me Smiley

yeah i had a cat not eat, but it got taken away.. well i quit without saving until i was able to get it to eat.  im not sure its a pet specific bug.   the other day a child sat there in pee desperation complaining, while there was a free bathroom ready to use.  i think its just a sims bug in general.   best to use the control pets cheat so you can make them eat a little easier.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lot Debugger and Macrotastics box - recolorable? on: 2006 November 21, 15:11:40
thats the one thing inseminator does that i miss in your hacks, pescado.  the ability to spawn the hack object at need instead of buy catalog.   not that im complaining about my free supply of endless fine hacks.  i'd just like to point out that spawning them would be even more cool.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 21, 15:09:10
I've got a feeling too that the applauders of the 'pretty boys' or 'girlie boys' (note that they're always called boys, not men) are mostly to be found in the age category between 12 and 15. (I've never met one over 15, at least, if I'm wrong correct me.)

Well Im 19, and I wouldnt touch a "manly" man with a ten foot clown pole.
Personally I think it has to do with the degredation of the Y chromosome, or as was mentioned before: humans have been steadily evolving toward a more "feminine" state for some time

well im 50 and the only one i'd retouch was a manly man... he just had an iq of 180 or so.   he was drafted into post ww2 cleanup in the islands, you just didnt survive without becoming manly.   but i will say though i think that sadly, female is the original trait, with the y chromosome the damaged copy.  though i have never figured out how it evolved, crocodiles develop sex according to nest heat..  i dont know about all reptiles.   although susan ivanovich said it first in babylon5, i consider 'testosterone poisoning'  to be a real if untreatable condition in some men (but not all manly men).
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default pet breeds on: 2006 November 21, 15:03:33
Well it seems to be working perfectly Smiley no more deformed maxis pugs and shiba inus

i dont know that much about dog breeds, but the shiba inu face was totally messed up.  it should look foxlike.  and the heavyness of the husky is innappropriate.  they are showing a malamute, built for heavy lifting.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dogs, maids, tubs and beds. on: 2006 November 21, 14:58:11
In Soviet Russia, you do not use bathroom, bathroom uses YOU! BUY has no problems with handling cats now.

i just had a looping problem with a cat peeing, although it had peed okay before, in a soviet bathroom i mean.  i had to unlearn the behavior to break the loop.  but the last posted change to the bathroom hack is long ago.  i used the directors cut for pets....
21  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2006 November 21, 14:54:42
ive seen mine use the shower for hygeine in pets, maybe its another hack causing a problem?  for the cat problem i found christianlov's learned behavior controller can allow you to set the value of the command to use the toilet back to zero, which stops the looping problem with the cats, although presumably the bathrooms arent working at optiomal value with a cat 'client'.

i have noticed a potential problem.. normally stuff in mydocuments is reserved for CC.  i went to my untouched breeds folder and found it full of breeds, which must then be maxis breeds.   which leads me to wonder if they could then get overwriteen at some point if you replaced them with your own breeds.  for instance if they changed the model for a pet breed themselves.. hm, they have overturned my world putting maxis defs in mydocuments.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NL bug with pets? on: 2006 November 20, 21:34:29

25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / NL bug with pets? on: 2006 November 20, 21:24:42
at least this is the first time this happened..  i get one of those calls from a random stranger to go out.  i chose the card shack, a point because its not that big.  well im not sure wether im getting a single invite or an outing, but there is not one blue plumbob marked person there.   i spend some time checking around...  no blue plumbobs.  i give my sim extra time to run into anyone and pretty soon ive played cards with a whole LOT of people, still no blue plumbobs.    and then when i finally get home i get a message from the caller that i stood her up and never to call back.   did i miss something here?
