401  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Oops! You broke everything! on: 2006 June 02, 22:36:58
It sounds like you've actually spawned a break inducer using boolprop...  The good news is that you can spawn a break suppressor the same way which does help a bit.

Although, I would suggest the moving out and moving back in.

This is probably what I did, in messing around trying to fix the husband.

It's a house made by me, so this is actually my fault, not Maxis'.
402  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Oops! You broke everything! on: 2006 June 02, 20:05:43
I just moved a Uni student back home with her new husband, and now the house seems to be possessed. If anyone uses the computer, dishwasher, piano, or any sink just once, it breaks. I tried buying replacements of all these things, but they keep breaking. Any ideas what could be causing this, or how it could be fixed? I previously had to delete the husband, save, and return to him in front of the mailbox because no one could interact with him, I think he's cursed  Roll Eyes.
403  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Does this only happens to me? Clean-up dishes problem. on: 2006 June 02, 20:01:16
I have exactly the same problem, but it's only on one lot. The only thing different about this lot is that I used the roof slope cheat. I didn't play the Sim at all before it happened, she was just plunked onto a yard with a phone, but she was seen visiting various Nightlife community lots. When I finally built her a house and played her for a day, the dishes were uncleanable, unclickable, invisible to macrotastics. I tried selecting visiting Sims with Merola's mirror and telling them to clean, but they couldn't see the dishes either.
404  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 05:33:10
I see this want all the time on dates, and I'm tired of seeing it too.  That's the main reason I took out no road pillows and put in Monique's no autonomous pillow fighting mod.

Does that mod kill the wants too?
405  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 04:16:57
Nope, they want to pillow fight no matter who they date. Pillow fighting doesn't clog their wants slots, I don't have problems getting other wants like woohoo to spin (usually), I'm just sick and tired of even seeing the pillow fight want.
406  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 03:58:47
I'd really rather not resort to that, I'm fine with the Nightlife neighborhood that came with the game. Shocking after the joke that University buildings are. I just don't want to see the stupid want.
407  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 03:50:12
Oh, I do play to the wants I like, and can most often avoid the pillow fight want. But I hate even seeing it there. Some wants that others dislike, I don't mind much (like the tree/shrub/plant wants), but this one is a pet peeve of mine.
408  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 03:22:35
Well, most of my sims have their dates at home at the moment as I don't have a Downtown attached to this installation, so I suppose it's a natural sim thing after a quick roll in the hay to have a pillow fight!

Funnily enough, the only sim I've every had to roll the want to study for two majors was a pleasure sim!

It would be fine if they only wanted it in bedrooms, but they want it in clubs and restaurants and probably rock quarries.

Lucky you, my only pleasure Sim at University so far has made me really hate the aspiration. Even my romance Sims want to do homework and write term papers, but all she ever wants to do is stay home from class, play computer games, and go on dates. Okay, so she's like I was when I was 19, but I don't really want to re-live that  Roll Eyes.
409  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 June 01, 03:01:58
Forget pleasure Sims, my fortune Sims want to pillow fight on dates! All my Sims do, regardless of aspiration and playfulness. It's quite annoying, and reminiscent of the instrument want spam that TwoJeffs so kindly burninated.
410  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Pillow Fight Request on: 2006 May 31, 23:24:52
If Sims didn't want to have pillow fights in the first place, they would roll better wants replacing that stupid one. It's a totally ridiculous want: you go out to a nice restaurant or club, of course you always want to have a pillow fight, right?

I would also love a hack preventing Sims from wanting pillow fights, or just replacing that want with a simple "play with".
411  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Your Favorite Default Replacement Skins? on: 2006 May 31, 00:18:35
I use Helaene's skins and Crammy's penis mod - works fine.

Same here. I use Helaene's 1111 set too; the eyes aren't really as baggy in-game as they look in some screenshots. I like the hair amount on the males, and I actually wish she'd put a bit of arm hair on the females. I don't know any woman who waxes her arms  Tongue.

I love Enayla's art, but I don't think "realism" has ever been something she's shot for. Her males are very feminine, and all Sims made with her skins look like they're wearing makeup and lots of baby oil. I'd use her skins for a fantasy kind of thing, but not for boring bourgeois Sims.
412  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dormie controller? on: 2006 May 29, 01:28:09
I could have sworn I didn't have that hack. How did that get in there? Oops Roll Eyes.

I didn't notice this as being different, because I didn't know Nightlife made dormies invulnerable in the first place. They just seemed to be behaving the way they always had in University. Heh.

I've tried filling a dorm with lots of playables, but I get really bored with that many playable Sims in a dorm. Also, I do like the concept of dormies; it's the execution that's severely lacking.
413  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Dormie controller? on: 2006 May 28, 20:40:03
Does anyone know of a hack that makes University dormies actually take care of their basic needs? I'm tired of dormies who pass out all over the place, pee in the street, and go into "fun" desperation when there are plenty of fun items on the lot for them to play with. Even some kind of hack making all their basic needs besides fun and social stay at 2/3 full at all times or something would be great.
414  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ummm...are these the best she can do? on: 2006 May 28, 19:51:21
Look people, if we look beyond Mr Number 3 blue hair and his awful expression here, I thought he have pretty nice features compared to Mr Number 1 and Mr Number 2.
Nothing too drastic. Mr Number 1 have big nose and Mr Number 2 have a big mouth.

If you ask me, Mr Number 1 is cowplant food. Look at his nose. Do you want kids with that nose?!!  Cry

Number three's eyes are so far apart, they're about to fall off his head. I've had experience with big-nose Sim genetics, and they can be overcome. And actually, as Sim male noses go, neither one nor two are that bad. #4 is definitely the winner though.

For dormies, I force semester parity with twojeffs' phonebook, and move them into a separate lot after graduating. Then my Sim calls them to move in. If you do have a Greek House, you can ask the guy to move in after he's a full member, and he'll become playable.
415  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ummm...are these the best she can do? on: 2006 May 28, 11:33:15
Numbers one and two could become acceptable with different hairstyles. Also, young adult male Sims often grow into their noses a bit as adults. I just went through something similar with a legacy Sim (story on my website), cringing whenever I looked at her college boyfriend, but now that they've been married forever and have two kids, I'm finding him quite adorable.

As for Bachelor #3... you could make an uglacy!

Now there's a guy who's studied Byzantine History  Wink
Hey, you know the saying: Those who fail history are doomed to repeat it.

Cheesy Yeah, unfortunately, humans don't really seem to learn much from history past the end of the semester. Plenty aren't even capable of lasting out a semester. My last history course, a large portion of the class, mostly history majors, were absolutely shocked that they were actually expected to read the textbook.

Who's ever seen a blue nut?

well, if you kick a guy in just the right place....

Or if it's really cold in the water.
418  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: For Those Interested: Soccer Sims Stuff@ TS2.com on: 2006 May 27, 02:02:53
Hideous soccer outfit and a hideous flag. I could do better texturing than that, and I'm not above average in the texturing department. Yuck. Sims playing soccer would be cool, but that is just total crap.
419  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House Layout? on: 2006 May 26, 02:50:25
MistyBlue, that's a great design. Where did you get all the plants?
420  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House Layout? on: 2006 May 25, 09:41:59
I am curious about this "Sims don't like stairs" thing. I've never noticed that in any way, shape or form. In fact, if I don't want visitors going upstairs constantly, I have to make sure the environment score downstairs is better than that upstairs. Even then, they'll go upstairs very readily for anything they want, whether it's socializing, playing a game, going to the bathroom, playing with some toy, whatever. They don't seem to differentiate between house levels at all.
421  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House Layout? on: 2006 May 25, 08:11:27
My real life house floor plan isn't entirely convenient or comfortable for me either, I'd still hate to live in a house like that though.

What I don't understand though is this:  Gali likes her house like that, fine and dandy, I don't, also fine and dandy.  Why is there always this spate of "you must play like I do, it is the best and only way"

I don't care how she plays, but I very much disagree with the idea that it's the only way, which I thought was implied in her saying, "You can build thousands of house-layouts in the game, pretending to copy the real-life ones, on which you exclaim "Wow!" - but they are not comfortable to the sims. Period."

They are if you know how to tweak them, period. And I wouldn't be able to wrap my mind around a lot like hers -- doesn't mean her lot is "wrong", but it also doesn't mean that it's the one right way. Maybe I come off as grouchier about it than intended because I don't use smilies much.
422  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Why are my teens getting "mismatched" LTWs? on: 2006 May 25, 06:48:52
The only reasoning I can think of is that they want to meet people, but with a Romance aspiration I can't see why they would want to meet aliens!

It's the probing.
423  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Jitters on: 2006 May 25, 06:46:25
I cloned an espresso maker for my Sims that gives more energy, less fun, makes them need to pee more, and is non-autonomous. They get jitters from it after about half a cup. I think it's directly related to just how much "energy" is in the coffee.
424  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House Layout? on: 2006 May 25, 03:46:36
You can build thousands of house-layouts in the game, pretending to copy the real-life ones, on which you exclaim "Wow!" - but thet are not comfortable to the sims. Period.

There are thousands of real house layouts that don't work for Sims, quite true. But there are thousands that, with a little tweaking, work perfectly for them. I don't think the layout in your screenshot would work for my Sims for one second, and I wouldn't want to look at it.
425  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House Layout? on: 2006 May 24, 21:33:46
Basing Sim houses on real house plans works nicely, though Sims often need larger hallways. I use the same method as MistyBlue, basing the size of the rooms on windows. Also, all my Sim houses have at least 1.5 baths, and I give them a second full bath as soon as I can afford it. Basically, one full bathroom per 2 Sims works well. Rounding up, so 3 Sims get 2.5 bathrooms. I give the half bathroom the most convenient location for guests and the best environment score, so they'll prefer to use that one.

Stairs are fine, especially if you place two staircases when you expect many Sims to go up and down them a lot, but Targa's elevator tile mod is awesome. I've never, ever had Sims who had any problem whatsoever using stairs. Basements, porches, second floors, third and fourth floors if you use Targa's mod -- they all work fine, though paging through floors to see what all your Sims are doing can get annoying if you have a whole lot of Sims on the lot.

I always put the master bedroom on the first floor, and don't bother with a nursery for toddlers and babies. The crib can go in the parents' bedroom, and the changing table can go either in their bedroom or in the parents' bathroom. No one should have to go up and down stairs to deal with babies, it really throws things out of whack -- I learned this the hard way the first time I played the game and had twins with the first pregnancy Tongue.

To get Sims to prefer the front door, always make it the first door you place when building a lot. Ditto with the front staircase and porch. J.M. has a hack that helps with this too, the FrontDoor hack.

Huge lots are a serious pain in the butt. They're slow, and Sims take forever to traverse them. The biggest lot I use when not playing some kind of challenge that demands a bigger one is the largest medium lot. Gali's setup would give me conniptions.
