TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Walkbys Walking Pets - The Pets Won't Stop

I've had cats who follow me when I go on walks. I never could get my cat to accept the harness and leash I got for her, though. I once saw a guy on the subway with a cat; he put her on the seat next to him. She didn't seem to like it much, but she was obviously used to it.

I was going to say anything with leaves is de facto to tasteful to be whore-y, but then there was that nipple dress KGDebus found.
I want to be a judge. kewian called me a whore the other day; that must mean I am qualified.
Actually, that sounds more like kewian is qualified. Since she thinks she knows what a whore is, and all. I can't imagine anything more disturbing than the little girls with boobs, either. But I bet it's out there. The Peggy buttcrack teenager is a close second.

I've had only three sets, but my very first Simpregnancy turned out to be twins. I had no real idea how to play the game at the time. I'm surprised everyone survived.
The secret to twins is to really not want twins, I think.

Yeah, I bet those Sim U professors are the kind that even bring donuts and candy to the exams.
My experience is that the professors who bring food to exams give the toughest exams. Being nice to students isn't incompatible with teaching a challenging class. Being a Sim is, though.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2?
|
on: 2007 March 29, 02:23:15

I can't remember the last time I had an accidental death in the game. My problem with them is that they are all so stupid, not that they occur often. I wouldn't mind life being a little more hazardous for Sims, I just object to having Will Wright's personal fears about fire projected onto my game, especially in the form they take in the game. And the running with scissors, and pool death, and Sims playing instruments till they starve to death. Dumbness. I think a lot of it is laziness on part of the programmers and developers.
There is so much potential in the game, and instead we get spontaneous combustion from working out.

About the 20-something comment: I've read lots of reviews of The Sims, and if EA/Maxis is going by reviewers, they could very well think that what people like most about the game is Sims dying for stupid, random, unrealistic reasons on a regular basis. My problem with the deaths isn't that they happen often in my game (they don't). It's that they're highly stupid. Causing a flaming inferno while cooking an omelet doesn't happen, and if someone does set something on fire accidentally, they don't stand there screaming about it waiting to burn to death. I caused a kitchen fire when I was about 10 and knew to get the baking soda, for crying out loud. I am also not terribly fond of the game designers' sense of "humor" in a lot of areas, because calling it sophomoric is an insult to sophomores.
This game is also a relaxation and "escape" for me. Especially in the building of houses that I can't currently afford, and the manipulation of my little people so that they enjoy their little lives. I am a (usually) benevolent goddess to my pixel people. Some of us are Utopian players, some of us aren't, and there's nothing wrong with either style.
Anyhow, I have nothing against giving my Sims a good scare now and then, and am going to buy them a scarecrow now. It's too bad it doesn't do something more interesting. Maybe it could be possessed around Harvest time or something.

I don't know why this would happen, but have you tried uninstalling in the order in which the expansion packs came out? Try re-installing Uni, then see if you can uninstall OFB, NL, Uni, then the base game. Just a guess.

But when someone says: "my wish is his command", he declares that he rules the other person, and can manipulate him to do whatever he wants. That's very romantic, isn't it?
You've never seen Labyrinth, have you? Yeah, but, but, Bowie, ya know? I LOVE the labyrinth, though I would'a tossed the kid and lived in the Escher castle with Bowie. *drools*He's super-sexy, but any relationship where the guy says "fear me, love me, do as I say" is one which I would run from screaming, probably changing my name and moving to another state. Now, if he gave the kid back and dropped the whole bossing me around schtick, we could talk. Speaking of Bowie, I saw an interview with him in which he talked about how hard it was for him to come out as completely straight. He'd been part of the whole 70's bisexual New Wave thing, then realized later that no, he really only liked to boink women.

Death to all Galis.
Hmm, you know, I just had this thought. Do you think an appropriate torture for Gali would be to turn her into a zombie, melt her on the Uni surgery machine, and then DRESS HER IN CARLA NIVEN?!?
No matter what you will do with my poor sim puppet - I won, showing everyone, that you hate to be "point and laugh" stock...but don't care to point and laugh at others. That's the ultimate Pescado's justice... That he doesn't like to point and laugh at others? What? You're missing a word or three. I agree with witch, except I think you should give gali gray hair.

Disgusting but true, roaches make me cry. My simmies have user-directed OCD because of this. Even simulated roaches give me the creeps. I grew up in Detroit and my family inadvertently rented a house that had a problem. As soon as we moved in, we were looking for somewhere else to be. The Orkin man was our best friend for months. So when they cry about the roaches, I understand. Crying about the dead, who aren't schlepping around their houses and crunching underfoot at 3:00AM? GTFOI!
I lived in New York City, in an old apartment building. We kept the place spotless, and there were still roaches crawling up through the sink. I now live in Florida, where there are roaches outside. I have never been even remotely tempted to cry because of the existence of some bug in my vicinity, and no, I still don't understand it at all, nor do I think it's realistic, even if there are a few people in the world who exhibit this strange behavior.

What I hate about mourning is that it's invariably at the wrong time. Sims ignore the actual death completely, then hours or days later they stompinate a queue with sobbing. I wouldn't mind the Grim Reaper stompinating other actions, but no, they'll autonomously do other stupid crap like play cops n' robbers right in front of a grandfather's death scene.
Sims also seem to care more about roaches than the death of family members. Who on earth cries about bugs?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What makes a nanny good at their job?
|
on: 2007 March 14, 19:35:27

I was hoping just to tweak a value or two to make her more included to bathe kiddies and do housework.
You want her more likely to do housework? All my nannies ever want to do is housework! They regularly put a meal in the oven, then stalk all the way across the house to empty a potty, or scrub a sink. The only competent nanny I've ever had was high outgoing, nice and playful, and low everything else. As for bathing kiddies, Sims have two settings: obsessive and ignore. Ignore is far better. I like to get the kid fed and bathed before the stupid nanny comes, so the stupid nanny doesn't have to interact with it at all.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom envy
|

we all know that sims like to party in the bathroom They really do. I'm doing the Insane Asylum Challenge. I've built them an enormous day room with everything the challenge allows, and where does everybody end up? In front of the single solitary toilet that's supposed to serve eight people. But it's not that they're lining up to use it; they're having pillow fights or playing red hands. Oh, sure if I wanted to have a pillow fight, I'd head for a 3x4 room instead of a room with space to run around in. Stupid sims. Does anybody know WHY they love the bathroom so much? I don't have this problem. Perhaps your bathroom's environment score is too high.
