I spent 2 days downloading this bloody thing and now I can't install it. I'm getting an error message like so:

>SetupNew\setup.cpp(140)
PAPP:
PVENDOR:
PGUID:
$15.0.0.498

I am decidedly unawesome, so could anyone shed any light on what may be going wrong here?

This is caused by trying to run the installer with winRAR, stop that! Extract it.

Actually, no. Read my next post. But I appreciate your "can-do" attitude.

Update with my problem, just in case anyone was having the same problem:

I downloaded the fixed setup exe and it works fine now. One of the downloads had a corrupted version, and of course, that's the one I chose!

4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Urgh; AL townies breeding like rats! on: 2008 September 12, 10:44:06
Please forgive my stupidity, but I am still not 100% sure about how notownieregen should be working from now on. I don't want any townies in my game at all, but even with a clean template, the game is generating new random AL townies. Is there any way to stop them breeding completely? I have about 65 character files, with 1 CAS playable - seems pretty high since someone else said they only have 21. I'd uninstall this piece of crap expansion, but I just want the ceilings, dammit.

Motion Sickness update - Windowed mode helps a lot, for some reason. I've made it to tribal stage...now I've realised that the game is actually kind of boring. So, all that effort to get it working for me and I don't think I can be bothered completing Civilisation stage *shrugs*. I guess I'd like to ask those who've played it through, does it get any more exciting?

RE: My motion sickness - thanks for the tips. Haven't had a chance to try anything out yet, but I will fiddle around with it later tonight. Are there camera modes I could have switched accidentally? I didn't even know that was an option. I haven't touched the settings button, I've played the game straight, so let me know if there's some other way I could have toggled something I shouldn't have toggled.

The problem for me is more that the camera jerks around everytime you turn so it can always behind your creature, rather than just remaining static. When you're looking for creatures to attack and things to pick up, you do a whole bunch of turning around - it's too much for my weak stomach to handle. I remember having this problem with Tomb Raider back in the day and thus never finished that game either Sad

Scrolling the view right back so that I'm playing from a birds eye viewpoint diminishes the effect somewhat. However, the birds-eye viewpoint doesn't scroll back far enough for me to have a good view of my surroundings. Also? The movies at the end of stages are done with a "rotating camera" effect, so there is no rest from the constant movement. I actually feel sick just thinking about it now. *chunders* Hopefully any camera cheats I find will fix it up. I'll keep you posted.

I've been playing for a day now and I have a problem - The Creature Stage gives me motion-sickness. I like the game but I can't play it through because the camera moves around way too much. I need a static "birds-eye" view type camera or I start dry-heaving. It's like watching Cloverfield all over again. Anyone else having this problem? Any remedies? I can haz Camera hacks plz?

Oh, OK. Well, that's a relief then (or is it?). Does the breadfruit tree cause the neverending dark and stormy night though?
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 28, 20:44:20
My bork isn't actually in an apartment lot but in another sims house I was playing. Since installing AL, there is a thunderstorm every 5 minutes. It doesn't matter what season it is, it's just rain and thunder constantly. I don't think I even had any snow during winter, but I might not have been paying attention as it took a while to realise something was up.

Even worse, my sims house has been touched by god as I have a burning bush in their front yard. My tree that was struck by lightning will not stop burning. I even deleted the tree. And guess what? The burning animation is still there. So now, it's an invisible burning tree. Thanks, AL. My game is so much better now with this feature. Roll Eyes

now that the objects mostly been fixed   can someone work on the hair  so my poor elders can use it  Huh

Yeah, this. Thank God I did not part with any cash for this unfinished crap or I would be pissed.

11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Editing FT "Hobby" Lots? on: 2008 March 09, 02:51:47
Is this possible? For starters, the shower in the male bathroom at the art/craft hobby lot has been placed in the wrong direction so it's unusable. *grrr* But it would be nice to customise a little or make one from scratch. I'm not familiar with any cheats that would allow me to do this so talk me through it gently. Cheers.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hair Randomizer? on: 2007 June 17, 12:01:41
Really? I always seem to end up with that ugly maxis shaggy-over-the-eyes cut on all my females, no joke. Yes, I know I could always cheat, but it kind of defeats the purpose of unlocking the showbiz career. *sigh*

My custom townies have generated with binned hair so that's not a problem, I just need more variety on my born-in-game sims.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hair Randomizer? on: 2007 June 17, 11:51:07
I'm just starting an Apocalypse challenge and the thought of generations upon generations of sims having crappy Maxis default hair is making me twitch. I don't mind not choosing the hair, I just wish it didn't always end up being the same crappy hairstyle all the time.

Is there a hack, or something I can do in game (that's not technically cheating) to randomize what hair my heirs get?
14  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 May 14, 21:19:40
Just so I can make sure - I definitely replaced all the folders in the tsbin install path as per the tutorial, but are you saying I need to do the same with the N001 folder in My Documents as well? Because that one I didn't do. *edit* sorry, reread your answer and I understand now. Must have missed a step with the expansions.

Does anyone know which expansion the gieke family in the bin are attached to? That would explain which expansion I missed a step with.

*baaah* Thanks for taking the time to help, much appreciated.
15  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 May 14, 09:58:19
OK, another person here trying this for the first time and having weird things happen. I set up my neighbourhood last night as per the tutorial and everything seemed to work grandly. I only had 36 character files, no more. Today I finished off naming my townies and nuking the family connections in SimPE. I am not very experienced with SimPE so I thought I'd mention it just in case I've buggered something up at that stage.

So, I go back into my hood and start adding my subhoods. I'm lazy and don't want to build new ones, so I've added the Maxis hoods (downtown, bluewater etc.) My understanding is that now I've added the blank templates, these shouldn't generate any new townies, right? Well, I now have 119 character files and there are 2 families in my bin (Gieke and some twin one. Jason and Jane?) and I noticed some Gilscarbo chick taking a stroll past my house. Where did they come from all of a sudden?
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxoid Sam trusts the Feedback forms as little as we do? on: 2007 February 17, 13:21:02
*de-lurk*

I just read Maxoid Sams blurb and to me it seemed to be saying "Don't trash the game on a public forum where potential buyers may see that it's riddled with bugs". Maybe I'm just too jaded by EA releasing broken games year after year, I can't believe anything they say anymore.
