Good idea, and thanks so much Smiley
152  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Global Props File on: 2007 February 04, 02:48:49
A bit ago I messed around some with my Global Props file to start the game in debug mode and such. I made a backup, changed the lines, got tired of debug mode and wanted to switch back.

Point is I can't remember where I put my backup file... so I'm kinda stuck here. Aside from feeling marvellously stupid I kinda need that file back so I can get out of debug mode.

So if anyone with pets installed would be so kind to just give me a copy of their (unchanged) global props file, I'd be very grateful. It can be found in the following directory:

Program Files --> EA Games --> Sims 2 Pets --> TS Data --> Res --> Config

The file is called 'globalProps.xml'

Much thanks if you'd help me out on this one.
153  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rating stuffs, on: 2007 January 18, 15:22:39
I only rate the stuff that looks/works great in-game (I'm very picky) and I only comment if I happen to feel like that at the moment. Otherwise it's just snatch-and-use to me.
I don't have time to go comment and rate on everything; I've got better things to do. Such as actually play the game :p
154  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: i'm asking this sheepishly, on: 2007 January 05, 16:26:32
As said, Lyran's re-works of Louis' skintones are really nice.

Other default replacement skintones I've seen around are Enayla's (you have to be able to stand a lot of glossy, shiny effects on your skins though) which you can find at MTS2 and Rensims' (at their own site).

155  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Maybe a silly question... on: 2006 December 17, 13:48:22
... but can computers be affected by cold?

I've noticed that when my computer's cold (it's in my bedroom and I sleep with my windows open, so it can get quite chilly especially in winter) it has problems with running properly. The screen blacks out at random (and comes back up after a while - time varies) and if it's having a particularly hard time, it'll reset at random.
When the room's heated up however, I don't have any difficulties at all.

So is there a connection between temperature and computers functioning? I know a computer can overheat but I've never heard of it getting undercooled... And what can I do to prevent it? Dressing the case in a blanky seems really silly but if it's the only option I'll have to endure people looking strangely at me.
156  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Expansion effects on regular play on: 2006 November 28, 15:34:12
The thing I like best about Pets, strangely enough, is the new loading music. I hated the previous, semi-electric, annoyingly boppy ones.

Pets for me personally is the best expansion yet. I don't play TS2 that much, but I do like to fiddle around with some of its more interesting aspects, like trying to make custom content, models, and now pets. You probably have to be as wacky as me to love the fantastic amount of customising you can put into your pets. I've spent hours just seeing what I can do with all the options.
157  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question concerning IP addresses. on: 2006 November 25, 13:51:48
It's not an AOL block, but as all users claim to come from the same country, a shared ISP would be likely.

Thanks a lot for the explanation, I guess I'll have to use different methods to get some sort of 'proof'.
158  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Question concerning IP addresses. on: 2006 November 25, 13:24:10
As the title says, I've got a question concering IP addresses.

We've got a case of suspected multiple-accounts/identity forging on my boards. Sadly I don't know enough about IP addresses to be absolutely certain of a case of multiple accounts.
What I want to know is in how much an IP address has to be similar to come from the same computer/network. I know IP addresses can change (right?), so how will I still know if it's the same place the activity is coming from?

What I've got is three suspected accounts (though two are more suspicious). All three start with the same two series of numbers. Only two start with the same series of three numbers (but the first account hasn't seen much activity lately.) The last numbers differ, however. I've noticed that at least the 2 first series of numbers stay the same, though I'm not sure about the last two.

Any help would be appreciated, and I hope I've been clear enough in my question.
159  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why do so many people's male sims look like women? on: 2006 November 21, 13:34:23

I prefer women that won't break in half when I hurl them into a wall.

I always knew you were a romantic.

I'm with the guy/girl who suggested it might be because making male models more feminine makes it easier for females to relate to them. Also, the influence of anime on the gamer world is not to be underestimated.
I've got a feeling too that the applauders of the 'pretty boys' or 'girlie boys' (note that they're always called boys, not men) are mostly to be found in the age category between 12 and 15. (I've never met one over 15, at least, if I'm wrong correct me.) And around that age boys simply haven't developed the more typical male ruggedness yet.
Another reason might be that historically seen, women have always been seen as more aesthetically pleasing than men. So if you would want to create a beautiful male, it would be easier to make his features more feminine to please said aesthetic feeling.

It's quite difficult to portray 'beauty' in a bunch of pixels. Attraction for me has much more to do with how someone carries himself than pure looks. If you're confident and happy with yourself, it shows, and that sparkle has more charm than a porcelain doll does. I tend to fall for very extravert men, so I know for me that's at least a factor.
I also don't like pretty boys. I prefer my men more in the 'rugged' category. Sean Bean is really quite handsome, but my favourite 'celebrity' (can't believe I'm using that word) must be Ray Parks. Not immediately a shining example of beauty, but he's got that thing going that keeps me interested.
As a matter of fact, I vaguely recall my first movie crush being Jeff Goldblum in the first Jurassic Park. Attraction doesn't have to make sense, apparently.
160  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Firefox died on me on: 2006 November 21, 11:43:39
Thanks! I did that, cleared everything out and reinstalled, and le fox is running smoothly again. I'd skip around and do a happy dance, but somehow that feels too undignified and I'm sure Pescado would scalp me for it.

So thanks, thanks very much. Have a couple of baa's.
161  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Firefox died on me on: 2006 November 21, 10:56:50
I run Hitman Pro regularly, but I'll clean out my system again just in case. Didn't find any folders related to firefox in the Userdata folder.
I cleared out the entire mozilla map after uninstalling (as it leaves some components still there), but that didn't help. Note that the fox was borked before reinstalling, too, so I'm not sure that's the issue.
162  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Firefox died on me on: 2006 November 21, 10:41:41
Hmmh I'll give it a try, but I'd really like fuzzyfox to work, too. It's got all my bookmarks, for example. And I'm used to it and I'm one of those horrid stick-with-what-works persons.

Some updates: Safe mode doesn't work either, and before it freezes it displays the line 'trying to connect to nl.mozzilla.start.com'.
163  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Firefox died on me on: 2006 November 21, 09:00:29
As the topic title says, Firefox died on me. Last night it was working perfectly fine. I log off my computer, start it again this morning, and it won't work.
What happens is that as soon as I double click the icon (or the .exe file in the program directory), the window does open, but freezes immediately. On some occasions I can see it open and make two tabs (?) and then freeze.
The same happens after a complete reinstall.

I really don't want to be stuck with Internet Explorer, as I abhor it. Any ideas? I use the 2.0 version incase that helps.
164  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any benefit to being a doofus? on: 2006 November 14, 14:01:25
I've got a genious, agressive cat who's got a strong relationship to the female sim of the household. She used to live alone and adopted him (He'sa former stray called Grimalkin, not bad for a game that issues townies called 'Goopy'), then after a while married a male sim.

He can't stand the guy :p He's always pouncing him and trying to eat his food, it's rather hilarious. One of the nicer side-effects of the 'mine' stamp, or just a game coincidence, I don't know, but if this cat was a sim he'd be an Evil Mastermind.

Anyway, while he's a genious he still runs around crazily a lot. As in, almost 70 % of the time. I think that's really got more to do with hyperactive/lazy than with genious/doofus.
165  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 13, 22:16:11
Lot debugger saves the day. Pescado once more proves his awesomeness.
166  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 13, 18:57:48
Ah, thanks much Jordi!
167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Missing Aspiration Points...WTF! on: 2006 November 13, 18:51:43
On a sorta-related subject:

One of my sims fulfilled her LTW in college. When she graduated I let her move back into the main neighbourhood and got her in a lot, but when she got there, she wasn't perma-plat anymore. Her aspiration decayed like any other sim.

Any ideas?
168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Let's Talk About Spyware, Baybee on: 2006 November 12, 16:48:57
Google toolbar extension is not in the add-ons. Damnit, why must my comp always be 'different'  Angry

Thanks for the info anyway.
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Let's Talk About Spyware, Baybee on: 2006 November 12, 14:35:03
How'd you get that rotten google toolbar to disappear from firefox? It's been bugging me for a while and now I heard it's spyware, I'd love to be able to kick it off my browser.
170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flashing Blue Accessories on: 2006 November 12, 13:35:23
I had the same problem. When I sent my sims to the mirror it was fixed untill I reloaded the lot, but it seems that after using Pescado's clothing tool the problem is now permanently solved.

ftw = for the win = something like 'is the best'.

I'm tainted by socialising in certain online circles, I'm afraid.

Edit: I have yet to come across a page that didn't display properly in Firefox.

Sunairsims doesn't, for one. (At least it doesn't for me.) I just stopped going there 'cause I hate to use IE ><
Fuzzyfox ftw.
173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Safely bringing in a preplayed family... on: 2006 November 10, 15:34:08
Just zip the 'hood and copy it to the neighbourhoods folder, then go vice versa when she gets back home again? Seems to me much less time than having to clean out stuffs with SimPE.

Or maybe I'm just st00pid and overlooking something here.

The least Maxis could have done was make it so there's a Dog Grim Reaper, like there is in Family Guy.

I second that. If Terry Pratchett can have a Death of Rats, I want a Death of Dogs/Cats!
I never liked the invulnerable toddlers anyway. That's no realism... though I did chuckle at that statue of the old lady where the description explains why toddlers can't be burned.
175  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Small Neighborhood Terrain? on: 2006 November 09, 20:08:07
I never really considered downloading custom terrains 'till this post - thanks guys! Now I've got a few that will actually be playable for me without having to get agitated about having to scroll for ages to find a house and cursing the abundance in trees.

Digital Femme: that's a nice pair of jeans, good work Smiley
