TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any opinions about my plans for game renovation?

I have the same problem using LD's more deco slots, but there's an easy workaround. Tapping 'm' on your keyboard will 'unstick' the wall hanging and make it behave normally again. Or you could just move the deco-affected object out of the way for the time being, place the wall hanging, and move it back.

I don't think I even remember how the skies looked pre-seasons. Fake edit: Never mind, I googled base game screenshots, and - it's true - the old skies looked much better. Why would EA mess with the sky to make it look shittier? Was this supposed to be a feature?

Actually, my families see playables from the hood all the time when they're on vacation. I thought this was normal, since I use clean vacation templates and haven't created any locals/tourists yet. After reading this thread, perhaps my game's just borked.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why the hell NL keeps uninstalling UNI?

I had the same problem with Seasons. Every time I installed it, my game registered OFB as 'uninstalled' even though the folders and everything were still intact. Someone else could probably offer you a better solution, but in the end I just reinstalled everything from scratch.

Much search-fu, but skillz were phail. Thank you. I must be old. I can't understand this. But I'm not old. Search-fu (n.): derived from kung-fu. "Fu" refers to skill, therefore 'search-fu' would = search skills. (synonyms: google-fu) Phail (adj.): bastardization of 'fail'.

I've never seen that guy before, but I don't see what's wrong with the spawn. Those sims have character. I wish my sims looks half as neat as the guy on the left. The weirdest thing that happened to my sims genetically is that one sim had such thin cheeks that her teeth stuck out the side of her face all day.
Yes, I know! I took one look at the male spawn and thought he was adorable, in that warm, big brother bear sort of way.

So, wait - you have the hack installed, but your adult sims continue to make BFFs? Or are those just the BFFs they made before the hack was installed (or from whence they were children)?

Yup. The 'good/bad' marriage memories are borked.
Also, does anyone else have problems with Sims returning home from work (via walking) randomly? They get the 'so-and-so has missed work today' message, but their work performance bars don't actually drop. And they don't get paid either.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: When I installed Bon Voyage, my OFB EP went missing

Yeah, that worked for me the first time I installed BV - my NL didn't show up, so I just reinstalled it and bypassed the launcher. But now I can't even install the missing ep without the error message, which rolls everything back. ...on another note, I think my base game CD's missing. Time to crack out the torrents.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / When I installed Bon Voyage, my OFB EP went missing
|
on: 2008 January 27, 01:04:07
|
Not-so-Brief backstory:
Ordinarily, I only play with a few EPs installed (Base, Uni, NL, BV) to cut back lag. When I read plasticbox's play style/rules thread, I decided to do something similar with my game. I uninstalled Bon Voyage and loaded the OFB + Seasons discs.
Everything ran smoothly with the first two EPs, but when I tried to install Bon Voyage again, I got the updater error: "The Sims 2 is not installed or improperly installed on your machine. Please install or reinstall The Sims 2." And the installation rolled back.
So I uninstalled SSN and OFB, and reinstalled those, and reinstalled BV - this time, when I got the error message, I opened the task manager and ended the 'updater' program. Even though the installation didn't roll back, and I have all the necessary files to play my game, my computer didn't really register BV as 'installed'.
I thought, Whatever. It won't hinder me from playing my game. When I booted up Bon Voyage to play (not using the launcher), my 'Add Business District/Neighbourhood' button was grayed out. All the OFB functions were missing.
So I closed the game, opened the Bon Voyage launcher (the one that tells you which EPs you have installed) and looked for OFB. It was registered as 'installed', but the Bon Voyage icon was grayed out.
So. Um. WTF? What can I do to 'fix' this without having to reinstall everything?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: default/replacement face templates

Well - I'm not sure if this is a tip per se since it's kind of friggin obvious, but make sure the face proportions for both genders are similar. I once came across a problem where the female cheeks were too chubby and the males' were too hollow, and whenever I tried to slim down the female in CAS, her male children would always come out looking like they were sucking in their face or something.

Also when putting jewelry on a sim in CAS, when I wanted to remove earrings the sim wouldn't get updated so I had to finish the sim and then bring her back into CAS to see if the jewelry had actually been removed or not. I have the same problem. Also, whenever I edit my Sims in CAS, my game slows to a crawl if I try to fix their makeup/glasses/jewelry (basically, anything under the '4' category). The earrings are non-removable once you've created the sim, which is just stupid. *Shakes fist at EAxis*

I had an incident where my toddler grew up smartmilk'd and got an IQ of 369 instead of the usual 300 (as shown in the Lot Debugger). This never happened before, so I labeled him the neighborhood genius. If my game resets with this mod intact, will his IQ reverse back to 300?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Play Style: The Nitty Gritty
|

I've never tried Legacy families before, since my neighbourhood usually ends up in a BFBVFS before I get to 3-4 generations. I tend to just delete the hood, and start over. I used play with testingcheats enabled, and it's come in handy more than once. However, the cheating gets a little easy after a while, and I downloaded all the "harder grades/jobs" hack to make the game a tad more realistic. Nowadays, I play with the fight club and zombie apocalypse hacks intact. University's actually fun to play now, where your sims have to juggle their studies, social life, and stay on their toes to survive. I even created a greek house called the 'Resistance', in which their task is to train new members to defend against zombie attacks. I play with all of the macros, especially during university and business hours. To be honest, I've gotten a lot more incentive to play the game ever since my zombies turned brainthirsty.
