826  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: AutoYakYak Macro Phone Caller (10/25/06) on: 2006 October 29, 02:14:28
I've recently installed pets and I've downloaded the moreawesomethanyou-pets.zip folder today, so i assume all of my hacks are current ones.

I don't have the option to call friends/family, so is there somethinh I'm missing here?

ETA: I'm obviously losing my mind because I always thought to get the option you clicked on the phone, not on the sim?? Unless that's a recent change, in which case I should either read more posts and/or keep off the booze (or get on it more perhaps)  Tongue

Apparently, Maxis bunged up the code inside phones, so the option had to be moved to the Sim.

Hm, uh. Well now I'm confused. I thought I saw the phonehack.package and the talk module thing show up in there seperate from this Phone Line thing. I'm sure I had the latest phone hack installed.

Here's a question: If I downloaded MATY houses that included older versions of MATY hacks that I already had installed, would the old versions override the new ones? That would be a bad life.

I can't get Clean Installer to work right now. I assume because the game is running.

Sounds like the Phone Line thing came from somewhere else.

Either they'll overwrite, or they'll try to coexist.  Coexistence is bad.

Yes, you actually have to quit the game to run Clean Installer...

I believe phonehack is strongly recommended, if not required.

You're right... Echo did the playpen, the sandpile and the wading pool.  Atavera did the floor blanket.

And your files install with the name the creator gave them, not Maxian created random hexadecimal digits.
831  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted: Pets Custom Content Updater Program! on: 2006 October 28, 18:13:23
Next bright idea...

Could you add the ability to "OFB-ize" refrigerators and stoves?
832  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: can i make dogs stop peeing on sidewalk? on: 2006 October 28, 18:09:53
Yeah, with Echo's floor blanket, they don't need her to put them to bed... My toddlers would happily sleep on the floor even without the blanket if it meant the stupid nanny wouldn't put them in the crib when they gotta pee!
833  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Error Log RE: phones on: 2006 October 28, 18:07:38
<snip>It's probably really simple to use too, isn't it? Everyone point and laugh hard. I welcome it.

Yes.  You install it and it hooks itself to the extension for .Sims2Pack, so you just double click the file the same as the Maxis installer.  Then the magic happens -- It shows you what's in the pack and lets you check and uncheck each item individually.

If it's a lot with custom content, I install just the lot into "Teleports" then separately install the custom content into another folder.

Gah, I can't imagine not using the Clean Installer!

Show I just thunk your head into the wall and save you the effort of doing it yourself later?
835  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: can i make dogs stop peeing on sidewalk? on: 2006 October 28, 17:48:43
I'm so tempted to lock the nannies out of the house...  Now that toddlers can eat pet food, I might try it!

Have you ever seen them drinking from spoiled bottles? They always throw up after that (and immediately smile as if nothing happened). Maybe you have Inge's bottomless bottle or another hack which takes care of bottles lying around before they go bad?

My niece's baby had such bad gas problems that he felt better after throwing up, so he'd barf then get this big happy smile and laugh.

That sounds very cute and adorable, though.

Who are you and what have you done with the real Pescado?

He's been sent to Tongo as a cash mule.
838  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighbourhoods have disappeared... ZOMGPETZ. on: 2006 October 28, 08:29:06
Assuming I can get the stupid game to run more than 2 times in a row without corrupting that file so I can make a backup.
839  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation on: 2006 October 28, 01:16:00
What about creating a new hood with the "New Hood" button?  Guess I need to do an experiment here...

BTW, I'm getting more and more corrupt Groups.cache and Accessory.cache files since installing Pets... so if your game suddenly quits loading past the first splash screen -- just delete those and all will be well!

840  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sims teleporting to lot when called via cell phone on: 2006 October 28, 00:04:16
Nope, there's been discussion of the problem in the autoyak thread... lots of people have the problem.
841  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighbourhoods have disappeared... ZOMGPETZ. on: 2006 October 27, 21:36:31
BTW, I had a "game quits immediately after the first splash screen" problem again, so I just deleted the groups.cache and accessory.cache files... and the next time I played, I had the horrid long load on the neighborhood and another horrid long load when I clicked the first house.

Guess I need to burn some of these gazillion backup files and delete them...
842  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: AutoYakYak Macro Phone Caller (10/25/06) on: 2006 October 27, 21:32:25
Did you have an available, non-occupied wallphone? That's kinda necessary for the menu to appear without a cellphone.

Yep, both houses, tried both the basic ivory one and the new black one from Pets.  Tried putting in two wallphones (same and different types); didn't help.

Still works for me. Nuked a baby, fast-forwarded until glow faded, still 300. Grew it up, still 300.

Ok, the dice gods must hate me in multiple games this week.
844  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Grrr to Maxis prudishness on: 2006 October 27, 21:25:52
Only if you're trying to merge this thread with the necrophilia thread.

Kill 'em, then mate with 'em, then eat them.

I suspect they didn't want to upset the people who "just recently lost the dog they've had since they were a kid."
846  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Adopted old dogs die immediately upon adoption? on: 2006 October 27, 07:10:24
That would be silly -- when you adopt an Infant, Toddler or Child, they're always at the bottom of their age range.
847  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: AutoYakYak Macro Phone Caller (10/25/06) on: 2006 October 27, 07:08:00
I'm having the problem that if more than one Sim lives on the lot and the extras don't have cell phones, only the first one gets the "Call->Friends" menu item.

I noticed it first on a lot with 3 Sims.  The first Sim had a cell phone and could Call->Friends.  The second Sim didn't have a cell phone and couldn't Call->Friends, but was able to after she bought a cell phone.  The third doesn't have a cell phone yet and can't Call->Friends.

I then moved their younger brother in; he appeared at the bottom of the row of icons.  He didn't have a cell phone and couldn't Call->Friends.

In a later session, he found his own place and moved in with two graduated but not moved out students.  The game placed him at the top of the row of icons for that house.  After his move, he could Call->Friends.  The Sim previously at the top of the list had a cell phone and could Call->Friends.  That Sim's girlfriend did not have a cell phone and couldn't Call->Friends.

So it seems that having a cell phone or being at the top of the icon row allows the Call->Friends menu.

No, I'm not having the Sims teleport in when called.
848  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: some minor jumping and a phone issue on: 2006 October 26, 23:22:53
I have a problem with cellphones evaporating.

They came over to my game!

Seriously, some of my Sims have two, when I'm sure they didn't buy a second one!  It works out; I just drop one on the ground and stuff it into another Sim's inventory.

Okay, now I want a hack to allow a Nana to replace the Nanny.

Me too!
850  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: killablevisitors need upgrade on: 2006 October 26, 22:48:59
Is this why the Sims endlessly loop on trying to use the toilet and throw an error with solid red Bladder motive?
