751  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sick of razzle! on: 2006 November 02, 22:01:07
One Sim kid managed to overfeed a bird to death... I was somewhat annoyed, but the family can afford another 400 simolean bird.

Isn't that sort of the point of jfade's new utility?  To bring things up to date with Pets?
753  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to fix a piece of under water road? on: 2006 November 02, 18:54:13
The Mississippi runs down the east border and the Missouri forms part of the southern border.  Lots of water in Missouri!
754  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Groups.cache corruption on: 2006 November 02, 15:30:13
My groups.cache file seems to get corrupted about every other day.

Is it safe to make it read only to attempt to protect it?  If not, can I make a backup copy and copy that over when it gets corrupted?  It doesn't do any harm to delete it, but gah, the wait while the first lot loads...
755  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Three issues, one thread - not at all vague ;) on: 2006 November 02, 15:27:37
Well I haven't used it in a while, but it always did work just like the gypsy - date meter, autogreet, everything...I'll try it out later and make sure it still works as it should. I haven't made any new sims in a while and all my teens go to college and meet their partners there Cheesy

If my Sims haven't met their "double lightning bolt" by the time they're Juniors, I like to have the option to quickly find out who's compatible...

Ok, I need to wake up before posting... Yes, 8 is Scholarship level... brain fart there!

Can you have Dirk invite her over and Propose->Move In?
758  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way to fix a piece of under water road? on: 2006 November 02, 13:25:07
If there's room, couldn't you just put a bridge over the hole?
759  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Student can't move fiancee into dorm on: 2006 November 02, 13:21:41
Even if the dorm is full, whenever you add a playable sim, one of resident dormies frees his room and go away: the only limit is the usual 8 sims/lot, so, you can't ask to move in, but you can always add as many students you want (below the limit) by merging of households.

Also, I noticed that even if you remove the 8 sims/lot limit, with the hack, the limit remains in merging households: you can add more than 8 sims to the lot only with move-in/marriage/try-for-baby.

I'm just puzzled why I couldn't "Propose->Move In" when there were only 6 Sims in the dorm and the Sim being asked was a controllable.  It just fell right out of his queue...

I've had this happen with 2 Sims who drank elixir as teens.  Use College->Rampage to make sure they've got enough points to get a A+ on their final and ignore it.

(after cleaning out the secret society house and selling the items, lol),

I've read elsewhere that this can really bork your game.  Not only is the secret society house now permanently empty in that hood, but other hoods seem to "share" the same secret society house and it's empty in the other hoods too!
761  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: frustrated with baby controller on: 2006 November 02, 13:00:48
I'd actually like them to stop at 6 (scholarship level), but that's my personal preference...
762  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets EP questions... on: 2006 November 02, 04:03:15
I love the way the dogs react when Sims serve a meal.  The minute dinner is ready to be put on the table, they start barking and showing pictures of the food in their thought bubbles.  The rest of the family might be completely oblivious to it, but the dogs always notice.  I guess it's that canine sense of smell  Smiley

I think that's begging, and you should be able to praise or scold it (modifies Eat pet/Sim food learned behavior).
763  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Create a sim and Makeup? on: 2006 November 02, 03:59:00
I just made a Sim in BodyShop and imported him into the game.  Makeup and accessories are much less laggy in BS.

765  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Student can't move fiancee into dorm on: 2006 November 02, 03:51:19
Actually, the fiancee was a controllable who lived in a different house.

Update: The next time I played that dorm, one of the empty rooms had a Dormie in (the one that got booted by the student moving in, lol), the other didn't.  Then I switched to the fiancee's house and had her "Find Own Place."  Back to the 'hood screen and drop her into the dorm with the boyfriend!

Problem solved for that particular situation!

766  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it true thaaaaat...... on: 2006 November 02, 02:27:57
I deleted the Maxis hoods on my old computer and the game played fine.  When you create a new hood, it just takes the place of one of the missing ones.

769  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Student can't move fiancee into dorm on: 2006 November 02, 01:55:11
I have a University student living in a dorm with 2 Dormies.  There are two empty rooms (formerly occupied by other playable students who graduated).  The student was created in CAS and added to the dorm by dropping his "family" onto the dorm, which previously contained 2 playables and 3 Dormies.

The student has asked his fiancee to move in 3 times... before either graduation party when no rooms were empty, after the first graduation party when one room was empty, and after the second graduation party with two rooms empty.  All 3 times, it just fell out of his queue.

No Dormies have moved into the empty rooms either.

I have the awesome nossrespawn and nostrayrespawn hacks.

When the sounds start, try hitting Tab or clicking the mouse.  (You prolly already did this...)

Especially if Front Page Extensions are turned on.  Might as well hang up a sign that says "Come hack my server."
772  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pissing on the porch on: 2006 November 02, 01:38:55
Someone posted in another thread that you can use the Stuck Object Remover to delete the "pee marker" that's left behind when the pee evaporates.  Move the door first, so it doesn't get deleted!

Someone else suggested building a dog run so the dog will be semi-trapped in a grassy area and leave his pee markers there.

Probably the dog had a semi-accident right by the door, and the pee marker just reinforces that behavior.

But if you just take the entire site offline, that would do the trick, wouldn't it? I'd think taking a site offline to prevent infection would be more important than letting pple know that the site is down for repairs.

Yes, you can brute force move your pages to a subdirectory or delete them.  Again, the webmaster may not have the skills or experience to know how to do that.  They also may not have a clean copy on their pc to restore from, so they're going to have to do a page by page cleanup.
774  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it safe to move the reporter into a household? on: 2006 November 02, 01:26:34
I have an evil mascot moved in a family; he acts normally (no more prank obsession and such), but every time I load that household, he is a cow and his personality is resetted to 0 nice/10 playful/etc..
I solved by editing in SimPE: Sim Description -> Other -> NPC type = 0x0000, then open character file and delete all the extra BHAV except init, main and load.

Another trick is age him back to child or toddler, then again re-age in adult. This usually resets the charachter to normal.

Thank you!  I have a Sim married to a Llama Mascot, and the same thing happens!
775  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it safe to move the reporter into a household? on: 2006 November 01, 16:10:50
I haven't heard anything about drivers lately... Are they still missing most of their minds, so if you have them join the family, you can't interact with them?
