When you uninstall Pets, the game tries to be helpful and delete all your Downloads and 'hoods, even though you intend to reinstall Pets without the patch.  I classify this under Stupid But True.

All your neighborhoods are in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods.  Custom lots (anything in the Lot Bin) are in My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/LotCatalog.

The Unknowns are stuff like the Grim Reaper and the RC car.

Cassie is much cuter now!
154  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clothing equality mod - adult clothes for elders, buyable maternity and work on: 2007 February 22, 06:38:24
It's possible that the custom age flags didn't get copied over into the new outfit.

You'd need to open the file with SimPE and check the age.

Lemme find my notes...

0x01 Toddler
0x02 Child
0x04 Teen
0x40 YA
0x08 Adult
0x10 Elder

So if you want an outfit to be available for YA, Adult, and Elder, you set the age to 0x58, the sum of the three hex numbers.

I'm not sure why it happened other than Murphy blessing you.

You know in the Neighborhood Browser where it says "Backup"?  Did you do that?  If so, you can get your 'hood back.  If not, sorry.
156  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Attack *Pool - Controller - Weird option on robot building station on: 2007 February 22, 05:40:46
I suspect either option would produce an error, so you might be able to get an error log and figure it out.

I guess he's a virgin because you took out those Mystery Sim memories....  You see the mystery sim has a very worthwhile purpose for his/her existence!  Cheesy

Nope, he was still an NPC when she invited him on a date... I just checked his wants during the date, and there it was!
158  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: ZOMGPets Job Fixes: Because Maxis Screwed The Pooch Again on: 2007 February 21, 18:21:55
Get this.  HarderJobs is your own decision.  Skip the patch.

Ah ha!  I'll just have to kill Deloris by other means... she's nasty anyhow and has about 3 enemies, including Donna.  I kind of like Janice and Blanca so I won't burninate them!

The repair guy is a virgin.  Chelsea Cheeze, the tramp wife of Chester, the Grilled Cheese Sim, asked him out on a date, and he promptly spun up the want to WooHoo for the Very First Time.
161  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Changing Tooltips on: 2007 February 20, 21:38:24
I believe you just open the file in SimPE, select the CTS (Catalog Description, in case I screwed up the abbreviation), and type in what you want.
162  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rolling a Want for a Specific Major on: 2007 February 20, 21:26:54
Once you give them the major they want, you can then give them economics or another major of your choice.

Option is not available.

If the problem is, that the options are not showing up... make sure you are using the proper controller, whatever flavor you were using: noage, notype, or norel.   The default one has all those restrictions, which is the one I personally use, but for testing purposes, I artificially alter relationship scores via debug mode or InSim.  If the controller you are using has a relationship dependency, I think sims have to know and at least be friends with the person in question.

I'm using the default controller.  In the 3 cases where the option did not come up, both Sims were adults and married, with relationships between 90 and 100.

In the two cases where it did appear (and I used it): Major and Paula were engaged, but not married when he asked her to die of old age.  I think Donna and Marshall were engaged too.

One quibble about the RTFM in the first post... what's the no-type-check version supposed to do?

Ok, interm progress report.

1) Sidney Scrapingby asked two Dormies to Grow Up (one plain graduate, one Cum Laude), Major CumLawde asked one to grow up Summa Cum Laude.  Their wants and memories seem to be normal (or like those in played graduates).

2) I decided to age up the 3 borked Grow Up victims to get rid of them with mixed success.  Donna was able to ask Marshall (Grown Up by Donna Dropout, but not moved in) to Grow Up then Say Goodbye Forever.  Major was able to ask Paula (Grown Up by Major as a YA and moved in) the same way.  Neither Dudley nor Donna was able to ask Deloris (Grown Up by Dudly Dropout, moved in) to Grow Up.  Sidney was not able to ask Janice (Grown Up apparently normal graduate) to Grow Up; Major was not able to ask Blanca (Grown Up apparently normal graduate) to Grow Up.

I haven't tried any other Adult->Adult requests, nor any YA->YA requests.
165  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots that used to be on uneven terrain. [Solved] on: 2007 February 20, 07:44:36
How bad is it to corrupt the terrain? I mean, assuming that you could actually get an uneven lot to be placed?

I think under certain circumstances, you'll get a gap where two irregular lots can't reconsile to being next to each other.  Would you want to look "behind the scenes" if your neighbor relandscaped their house?
166  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repositioning Occupied Lots on: 2007 February 20, 07:24:12
Maybe you could export the terrain resources, place your lots, back up the hood, and replace the original terrain?  There's a tutorial around here somewhere...

Another trick is to take a 1x1 lot and repeated place it next to a giant hole in the road.  Eventually, the hole will fill in!
167  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rolling a Want for a Specific Major on: 2007 February 20, 07:19:04
No, it seems to be how quick you can make them reroll their wants (by satisfying them, not the Lot Debugger).  Most of my born-in-game Sims end up as Math or Physics majors because they're Knowledge Sims.  Grown up Townie teens usually want Poli Sci, Literature, or Drama.  Sometimes it seems aspiration based, sometimes it's skill based.  I use Community Lot Skilling, so they usually have a decent amount of Logic or Creativity.
168  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rolling a Want for a Specific Major on: 2007 February 19, 13:41:15
Some Sims just never do (and end up Philosophy majors by default).  I think the trick is to roll the wants as many times as possible in the first Sim day or two.
169  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I want a silent loading screen on: 2007 February 18, 06:30:40
Looks like it; just get the file from the EP of your choice.

BTW, I think the OP wants to clean out her downloads folder; she just doesn't want to listen to the stupid music while she does it!
170  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downgrading a graduate? on: 2007 February 17, 17:29:53
When you're looking at the Sim Description, click the Uni tab and change the semester number to 1.
171  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Application must terminate while playing instruments on: 2007 February 17, 17:13:36
Could you have an outdated No Busking hack?  Those usually jump, not crash tho.

Is there a controller for the custom guitars?  Maybe that's missing or outdated.
172  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Life Stories Hack Compatibility List. on: 2007 February 17, 17:10:04
If you have "inventories," you can stuff the food in there and the Sims will eat them one serving at a time via Macrotastics.  Especially handy if you have preggo ladies on the lot!
173  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Transferring neighborhood to a different computer? on: 2007 February 17, 13:14:01
Every single file inside the N001 folder has to be renamed to N004.
174  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downgrading a graduate? on: 2007 February 17, 12:48:46
I'd go in and delete the memories of Complete X Year, Graduate, Diploma (token), etc. after making a backup copy.

Here's SaraMK's directions on how to prevent the ugly premade Townies from showing up in every hood:
