26  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 14, 01:58:00
When a new SimPE is out I'll try to make an actual clean stealth neighbourhood and vacationhood.
Oh, I would love you forever for that ... Grin

I just got done with my new vacation townies. I let the game spawn new ones (way too many though), then decided which ones to keep by summoning them to my home lot one after the other and closely inspecting them. They were dressed appropriately using christianlov's clothing rack, given random personalities and so on, the usual stuff I always do with townies. Then I deleted 2 the extra vacation locals and tourists, 55 sims to be exact. My neck hurts and I'm tired, but finally my neighborhood is neat and clean.

And if the game spawns new vacation sims when I load a vacation hood next time (because it detects there are too few) I'm gonna uninstall this crap and wait for the update of notownieregen as well as your empty templates! Roll Eyes
27  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Redundancy *CRITICAL FOR BVp0* on: 2007 September 13, 10:31:02
@adammc: That error message has nothing to do with your tour guides - it is caused by the new expansion pack you installed. SimPE can't handle it, so it will throw some weird exceptions. Quaxi and his team are already working on the new version, so better don't touch your neighborhoods with the outdated SimPE until the new one is released! Wink
28  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 13, 10:25:00
And the 'stealth' people? They're added by the stealth neighbourhood. Look in the V001 folder in the neighbourhood templates. It's there, and will add itself whether you like it or not. They're an EAxis screwup.
No, they're not. I deleted the Maxis stealth people after they were added out of their V001 folder, just like I had said earlier. What I was complaining about were 60 - 70 NEW tourist townies that the game had to spawn since I had deleted the old ones. I had thought the game would spawn only as many tourists as needed (with notownieregen), but notownieregen doesn't work for tourist townies yet. Cry

EDIT:
Upon further testing, using SimPE 0.62 (yep, the Seasons one), and opening the .neighbourhood files AFTER the characters are gone, it's actually editable. It's just very finicky and yells at me. But at least it works.

EDIT Mk. 2:
And created a worse BFBVFS. This time when adding the files. Good thing I made backups.
Oh no, I'm really glad that you were able to undo those changes with your backup ... Shocked
29  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 12, 02:24:01
When I did it my idiotic way (deleting the .package files that the sims were contained in...) the locals to the region DID have their actual vacation-ish skills. The slap dance, the chest pound in three lakes, specifically. Just their clothing was wrong, and the hairstyle.
You're talking about the newly spawned local vacation sims, right? How did you spawn them? Did the game spawn them by itself or did you use the NPC and townie creator?

EDIT: I'm seriously confused now. I let the game spawn new vacation townies (it did this by itself after I had deleted the character files using InvisiGoth's method), and those new vacation townies DID know the correct greeting. One of them even performed Tai-Chi by herself. When I tried to convert a normal townie into a vacation townie it didn't work though. What's the sense of this townie and NPC creator-thing then? Huh

Anyway, I'm glad that problem is gone. It still annoys me to no end that the game spawned something like 60 or 70 new sims when loading up a vacation hood for the first time, even though I have notownieregen installed ... Angry
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need Help With These Hacks on: 2007 September 11, 20:40:46
I'm sure you'll find enough information about every single hack using the forum search here ... Wink I just did a search for shoonobreakgroup, just out of curiosity because I didn't know what that hack does, and I found the answer within one minute!
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Jump bug and movie bug in college house (logs) on: 2007 September 11, 15:18:59
Did you update "antivacationactions"? It was updated a few times since it was initially posted, so you might have an old version which caused the jump bug! Cool
32  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 11, 01:01:01
So, if the locals get deleted they don't regen with correct outfits? How about the behaviors... the gestures of the region and such?
As I posted earlier, a newly spawned local vacation sim didn't even know the proper bow for his region (Asia). He was spawned with regular clothes - I can handle that, I can move him in and change it, but I have no idea how to make him behave like the local he's supposed to be! Huh

Quote
I haven't played a ton yet, I've been too busy building my own vacation locales, but it seems like I'd see 1-2 locals/lot with the rest being regular tourists without special outfits... is it possible your game just hasn't seen fit to generate locals yet so you're only seeing tourists, hence the randomness of dress, or have you confirmed that they're actually locals?
My game autonomously spawned like 50 tourists after I killed most of the Maxis tourists off, and they were all dressed normally. When a local vacation townie is created via the Townie repoman's gun he/she also looks totally normal though ... Sad

Finally, count yourself lucky that SimPe even lets you get as far as seeing that they don't have pics - on both my comps SimPe barfs out about a gazillion errors (Warning: Sim Found Twice type of stuff). If I get through all the errors there's a bunch of gobblygook - the BV sims don't seem to register (empty family infos, etc.) and my playable families show unknown members and stuff. I'm hoping it's not truly that screwed up and that SimPe is just not reading it right. Sigh, I tried to sign up for the QA about six weeks ago but never got a response... wish I had it now, I think there's a version out there for testing.
When I signed up for the QA I never got a response either - I noticed I was admitted when I was suddenly able to see the QA subforum. Have you logged in there and checked if you can see it?

And just for the hell of it, fuck EA for screwing up my neighborhood. I just know I'm going to BFBVFS trying to get rid of the crappy characters I don't want.
You could try the method Invisigoth posted a couple of posts above yours - I tested this yesterday, and my neighborhood is still alive ... Grin
33  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 September 10, 18:44:31
I thought the correct clothes were available from CAS or bodyshop.
Yes, they are. It's no problem to create a CAS sim that looks like a vacation townie - I'm just curious how I can transform him into a vacation sim who behaves like one! Wink

I made a townie out of a MATY sim, and gave him a job just like you.  When he fell in love with a playable and moved in, he had an entirely different job than what I set him up with.

So I'd say you're probably wasting your time as far as jobs.  I think they keep the skills you set, though -- I don't think those reset.
Oh, that's weird, because I experienced the opposite thing! Cheesy I always create my townies just like MissDoh said, creating them in CAS and then making them into townies with the shrub. I always give them jobs and randomize their skills, and when they move in with my playables later they always keep their jobs. I write everything down in an Excel table, this is why I'm so certain about this ... Wink

I can confirm your statement about the skill points, though - they never reset in my game either. Grin
34  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 10, 11:59:28
There is a workaround that I have tested to remove all of the unwanted character files that the Bon Voyage stealth hood puts into your game. Pescado taught me this in chat the other day, so he gets full credit for this. I am merely the messenger. I have tested this and everything seems to be working fine so far.
1. Back up N0XX folder. Pay attention to how many suburbs you have attached (suburb01, suburb02)
2. Go into the game and enter the hood. The stealth vacation hood will be created. You'll see somewhere around 60 new character files appear (ZOMG!)
3. Exit the game
4. Go into N0XX folder and delete everything except for Suburb0X (the newest, in my case this was suburb03.package). Replace everything with the backup.

When you add an actual vacation subhood it will add another 14 or so characters. I have NOT TESTED this, but in theory it should work. The only changes that you would make would be to NOT replace the LOTS folder from your backup and to NOT delete the vacation0X.package. I am going to test this a bit today, but I cannot guarentee that it won't break your hood. You might want to do the second part on a test hood before actually attempting it on a hood you care about.
Thanks a lot for posting this! I tried this last night (including the second part with the three vacation subhoods), and I haven't had any problems so far. My normal neighborhood loaded properly, and I could enter one of my families and play. I'm a bit reluctant to send them on a test-vacation though because antiredundancy and notownieregen apparently need to be updated because the game spawns excessive tour guides all over the place as well as tourist townies (in a first attempt I killed the Maxis tourists off, but I restored my backup when my game created around 50 new tourist townies on its own ...) Shocked
35  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 September 09, 22:31:12
Is there a way to spawn new vacation townies who are dressed in their proper clothes? I nuked all the ugly vacation townies as well as tourists by moving them in (via the shrub/cat) and then killing them with Rodney's death creator. Then I tried the Townie and NPC creator to spawn new vacation townies (it's not a tree anymore, now it looks like the repoman's gun), but they always came up with normal clothes. So I had them move in, change their appearance with the clothing tool, made them into townies and then into vacation townies with the repoman gun townie creator. From that time on those townies walked around in their fancy clothes, but they didn't behave like real vacation townies - they didn't know the proper bow, for example. So I'm not too sure if this method works correctly ... Huh

It would be great if someone came up with a better idea how to spawn correctly dressed vacation townies - until then my sims won't go on vacation anymore ... Cheesy
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: Plant sims on: 2007 June 11, 10:26:23
Has anyone seen the Ideal Plantsim wandering around his/her lot? A friend of mine took this picture when she noticed that strange guy appearing on her lot:

In the picture he looks human, but when he steps into the sunlight he turns green and looks like the Plantsim he's supposed to be.

Is this a bug or a feature? She swears she hasn't been messing around with cheats ... Cool

Reason: bye
Does you know why? Or other ways to get the mod?
You can get it here:

38  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Zazazu's face replacements on: 2007 May 17, 17:52:48
Zazazu, I'm so sorry for the trouble you had to go through. I know how annoying it is when people accuse you of something you haven't done. When I released my templates on MTS (thanks for linking to my thread, I'll do the same for you in a second! Grin ) one person claimed I didn't make the faces myself. I told her/him that was not true and I had made them all by myself, and that I found it quite impudent to accuse me of this - but the person obviously didn't care. I was never even told whose sims I was supposed to have stolen, so up to this day I have no idea what went wrong in that person's head. Roll Eyes

Anyway, your faces are great, and I hope tons of people will enjoy them once they have seen their new pretty townies and NPCs! Grin
39  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: [TUTORIAL] Customizing Christianlov's Custom Skintones Selector on: 2007 May 05, 15:25:00
Thank you so much for this tutorial - I didn't know it was THIS complicated. Shocked I had been playing with the idea of fiddling around with SimPE myself in order to add some new skintones to the painting, and now I'm glad I didn't do it. I think I'll customize my skintone selector paintings right away, thanks to you!  Grin
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm sure everyone but me knew about this Maxis Hair for Male Sims. on: 2007 March 25, 12:54:57
This is just the hair from Andy and Lucas, nothing else. Also fixed it so that it no longer resets to the default hair when switching colors.

Download Here  Wink
Wow, great, thank you! *hugs* Out of curiosity I installed Andy, Lucas and Paolo last night - phew, those are really BUTT ugly. I'm always happy about variety, but not in that bad way ... Shocked
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm sure everyone but me knew about this Maxis Hair for Male Sims. on: 2007 March 25, 04:28:22
How can I extract only the hair of those sims? I don't care for additional archetype faces or clothes, I'd just like to see the hair in game. When I open the SIMS2PACK file with the Clean Installer I can check all the lines where it says "hair", but I don't know if that also includes the mesh. Each one of those recolor files is only 2 KB which seems quite small to me ... Huh
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Adoptions Gone Wacko on: 2007 March 23, 22:36:25
I've had a similar problem when I was trying to call the gardener one day. I had emptied my neighborhood before starting, so there weren't any gardener NPCs around. When I called the service a new gardener SHOULD have been created, but it wasn't. Instead, my sim jumped off the phone and still no gardener. Huh

It worked for me when I spawned a new gardener myself (via the NPC & townie maker tree) and called the service after that. Maybe you could try that with your social worker?
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a safe way to alter age duration? on: 2007 March 10, 03:59:11
I don't think it's updated for Seasons yet, if it will or needs to be.
I'm using both hacks by Inge (for pets and humans) in Seasons, and everything works fine - I don't think any update is needed here! Grin

EDIT: I just read at dinnerbell that Inge's hack doesn't seem to be compatible with plant people. Since I'm never playing those fantasy creatures anyway I hadn't noticed yet, and personally it doesn't bug me. Wink
44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Something won't let my sims go to work on: 2007 March 07, 11:55:53
It was an outdated version of harderjobs.
Really? Shocked I guess I should check out updates for the hacks I'm using more often ... Undecided *slowly sneaks away and dies of shame*
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Something won't let my sims go to work on: 2007 March 06, 07:54:15
The same thing happened to me too, although I don't have that career wants-hack by Squinge. I solved the problem by taking out hacks I thought might cause the problem - basically all work-related hacks. It took me several attempts, and it finally worked when I took out "harderjobs" along with a couple of food-related hacks. So I figured "harderjobs" was the culprit, but J. M. Pescado said that was mere coincidence. So now I think it was one of the food-related hacks, although I seriously don't know what food has to do with going to work ... Huh
46  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Face Templates - 3 Complete Templates uploaded [28 Jan 2007] on: 2007 March 05, 13:03:55
These aren't showing up in my game for some reason.  I downloaded the full set vilia provided and deleted the CAS thumbnails file (though it isn't just the thumbnail that's not working, it's the whole template).  I tried taking them out of a subfolder and putting them directly in the downloads folder, but to no avail.  When I go into CAS, I still have the fugly maxis templates.  Anyone have any ideas?
Did you delete the "cigen.package" file where the thumbnails for the CAS faces are stored?
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Infertilityville on: 2007 March 05, 02:04:46
Or adjust the risky pregnancy odds. I couldn't make my sim Try For Baby with a townie, so I upped the risky odds to 67%. Actually she still hasn't tried for baby since I installed seasons. I moved him in tonight so we'll see how it goes.
Are you talking about syberspunk's "Risky woohoo" mod and/or the ACR? Or is there a different way to adjust those odds? Huh
48  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Pets) on: 2007 February 24, 17:07:13
Make townies, and then use the Teleporter Shrub to turn them into Downtownies.
Thanks, I'll do that! Grin I noticed the same thing happens when I create NPCs via the NPC and townie tree. So what, I'll just wait for my game to create the NPCs when needed. Wink
49  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Pets) on: 2007 February 24, 16:38:40
Thank you for the great tutorial! I just followed your instructions and set up a fresh and clean neighborhood. I even downloaded some new CAS faces and was getting ready to create some downtownies via the NPC and townie tree when I noticed a strange thing: When I create downtownies the game seems to spawn some "premade" faces which look totally different from my CAS replacement faces. In fact I even recognized some of the "standard downtownies" being spawned. How can that happen when I deleted all their characters and replaced my CAS faces with prettier ones? Are those ugly downtownies somewhat "hardwired" in the game? Huh

I think I'll switch over to making normal townies for the moment - they ARE using my CAS replacement faces. Grin
50  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Generated Townies have mismatched skintone on: 2007 February 24, 09:46:32
You could take out your Enayla defaults and replace them with another default skin set. It would be interesting to know whether the black townies have black bodies then, too ...  Huh
