We had to bomb the village to save the village.

I think it's something borked with the installation of the holiday pack.  Especially if it's the first pack.

What do you mean?   Is it something about the pack or something about how it is installed?  The object is there but not visible in the catalog.  Remove the downloads folder and the object appears in the catalog.

I'm sorry I haven't written back sooner!  I've had house guests and haven't been able to get back to you.  I never meant to be rude.

Emma, it was a good idea but it didn't work.  It is not the item that was overwritten, just the catalog entry.  The trees remained trees.  I think I'll just open a Christmas Tree Shop and send them downtown to buy one.  Thank you everyone.

Thanks Toad  but I've been running binary searches until my head is about to explode.  Isn't there some way, perhaps using Simpe, to isolate the identifier used to create the catalog entry and then search for the duplicate?  Does that make sense?  I'm sure this is a common problem, there has got to be a easier solution!

One of my bizillion downloads is overwriting the Maxis Christmas Tree so it no longer appears in the catalog.  I haven't looked for this object in months, so there's no way to tell when this happened.  Is there a simple, straight forward way of finding this imposter or am I doomed to search every damn item?

Okay.  Just call me the dog whisperer.  Thanks for responding
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Just a question on: 2007 September 28, 19:36:08
I've been playing bv about two weeks now.  In all that time, not one dog has dug a hole in the yard, not even the strays.  Has anyone else seen this or do I just have extremely well mannered dogs.

Does anyone know if there is a hack that lets the hydrobots water the vegetable garden?  If there isn't one already, could there be one?

jfade's hot tub hack doesn't seem to be working quite right on community lots.  The sim hops out  of the hot tub, bursts into flames and then runs away unharmed leaving the fire burning behind him.  this fire won't trigger the sprinkler and the fire dept has to be called in.
That's why I labeled it as needing testing. Tongue I haven't had time to play with it in my own game yet, so I wasn't positive that it fixed it. I don't really think I want to make a final version of it now though at this point, considering temperature is basically completely borked anyhow. I'll wait for an awesome version of a temperature fix hack. Smiley

So that's what testing means!  Really, I think I'll hold on to it for now.  At least my sims aren't dieing all  over the place.

Two things:

The waiterfix doesn't work for me anymore since Seasons.

Pescado, you are a tower of awesomeness.

Another request, if you please.  I would like a hack that gets visitors out of the hot tub before they reach flash point and spontaneously combust.  Can this be done?

In the winter season, when sims go to community lots, all the townies are in outerwear.  This is good.  Then Count Whatis shows up in a black turtleneck and scarf.  Not so good.  Being a vampire, its all about the cape.  According to prima guide, vampires can't freeze so why the costume change?

one of my toddlers keeps bobbing up in the air when he autonomously interacts with the puppy.  he floats up to kid height (not adult).

Thanks Jordi.  The teleporter was the way to go.  I rescued him from the twilight zone and added him to another family, like you said.  He was able to come and go to his budiness then without any further problems.  Since he lives alone, his home lot was now empty and up for sale so it was just a matter of having him "Find own place" and buy back his house.  His stuff was gone but he can always buy more.  The wierd thing was, shortly after he moved back home, his car showed up by itself.

Gilbert Jacquet hopped in his yellow sports car in front of his bakery to drive home.  The home lot never loaded, just kept looping so I killed the program.  Restarted the game, the plumbbob over his house is lit and the bakery dull.  I tried to open the home lot but no joy.  When I restarted the program again, I opened a neighboring lot and then clicked on the Jacquet house but the lot still won't load.  Any idea how to fix this?

Okay.  Tried the test fix, salon chair worked properly. Yay!

My guy owns multiple lots, so when he got home he tried check in with all businesses but one manager on another business could not be found.  Since the call worked the previous "night", I'm wondering if the salon fix somehow affected it?  I have the missing manager fix, 10-26-06, and the remotebusiness fix which I think is 10-09.  It just infuriates me that Maxis would release this totally unplayable code.  Especially after the whole fiasco that was the OFB release.

Well, isn't that just special?  Can't reinstall the patch, says it is up to date.  What now?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Ug-no-more don't work no more on: 2006 October 28, 18:29:43
Has anyone tried the barber chair since installing pets?  Mine isn't working properly, no sims standing in slack-faced trance while their buy bar fills up.  They'll take a free makeover alright but nobody's buying.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet collars on: 2006 October 22, 19:07:14
Sizes?  They come in sizes?  How would I know sizes?
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet collars on: 2006 October 22, 13:43:58
Okay, here's what I get.  I was trying this before with a user created mirror.  I replaced it with a Maxis floor mirror and got the option to change the dog's appearance but option 3 where you select the dog collar said I had none.  Just to be sure, I sent old Cyd back to the pet store.  The dog collar catalog showed the first collar in the wardrobe.  I bought a second collar and tried the mirror thing again.  It still showed no collars.  It is like the toddler clothing thing all over.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet collars on: 2006 October 22, 13:23:26
Thanks everyone.  I'll try the mirror thing.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pet collars on: 2006 October 22, 12:00:13
Am I missing something here?  My sim went to the pet store, bought a collar.  The collar went into the sims wardrobe.  So how do I get it to the dog?
