76  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / M&G install problem on: 2008 December 13, 18:48:48
I'm trying to install M&G and not having any success. I run ZoneAlarm and early on in the install I get a message 'Suspicious Behavior' Electronic Arts AutoRun is trying to install an application to run each time your computer is started - Application: AutoRun.exe Needless to say I deny this after all why the hell should I want EA to be running something every time my computer boots up. (I'll run game code when I play a game, not any other time thank you very much.) The rest of the game then proceeds to install seemingly ok until the check for updates part at which point it tells me there is an installation error and removes the whole thing. This leaves me with a number of questions:

What is this autorun.exe?
Why does it need to run every time I start my computer (as opposed to when I run my game)?
Can I 'safely' install it then remove it from the startup (so that it doesn't run when I start my computer)?

EDIT: removed incorrect info

You'd be better off using the geneticised versions of the Enlaya Pixie skins for a fantasy hood - at least they're well made and look good in game.

Furries are just yuck and the typical poorly textured fare available for TS2 make furry sims double yuck. In reference to the bunny-wolf breeding experiment, I'm not sure that it's any worse than the therapist spawn that almost everybody inflicts on a sim at least once before deciding it was a really bad idea.

if that's first place settled then I offer this as a runner-up: exploded fat morph on the replacement pregnancy meshes as modelled by our own lovely Witch.

I think I'm pretty well done with the building and decorating of this month's lot so I thought I'd stick up a preview shot. I'm converting it to an apartment block with four furnished apartments. I just need to rezone it and test to make sure that all four apartments function ok.

80  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: apartment build guidelines on: 2008 December 06, 20:33:19
Cheers. A furnished apartment block it is then, though it will take quite a while longer to complete and test.
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / apartment build guidelines on: 2008 December 06, 18:40:46
For this month's Eaxis House of Fail I thought I would build some apartments. I've only done this once before and seem to remember spending ages getting them furnished and looking good only to find that wasn't (or very little) furniture there when I moved sims in. So my questions are:

Exactly what furnishings and fittings will be visible when the apartment is rented out?
Does everything in the communal area get saved and loaded for any family to use?
Can I have a private garden for a specific apartment provided it is walled off and accessible from only that apartment?
82  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis house of FAIL: December on: 2008 December 06, 08:34:49
This month's efforts look like some of the best yet; it seems the more yuck the original lot, the more inspired we get. I've gone modern again with mine and am kind of wishing I had M&G so I may do a second lot once I get it installed. I just need to finish the garden and test it.  I love what Floopy has done with the gallery, especially the little bits of indoor garden so will try that in the future.
83  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: Freaky Furries on: 2008 December 06, 08:14:42
This freak's been in a previous More Awful, but it's the only thing I could think of that could come even close to matching that pink... thing.

Behold, "Neugenic Hybrid: Bunny Love."

Bunny-cheerleader cross? Hence the pom-pom tail.

111 Stratford Street looks like a good choice. I'd like to suggest that, in addition to the usual limits, the outdoor tiled areas & garden are kept in situ but should be restyled.
85  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Alien baby born with brown eyes? on: 2008 November 26, 21:53:13
Yeah, I find that a new PT is a necessary addition to the game.  I resisted installing one until my first alienspawn reached the 12 stage and recoiled in horror.  As soon as she went to uni, I 'plastic surgeried' her, and changed parental genetics to those of the new PT.  Hopefully that will keep the fugly away from any of her spawn and stop it from happening with any new abductionspawn.  Naturally, now that I've done all that, I can't seem to get anyone abducted even with TJs higher abduction odds mod installed.

The odds with TJs' hack are still pretty low except for knowledge sims. It might take 2 or 3 nights of concerted effort stargazing to get the UFO to swing by but it does work. Secondary knowledge seems to get abducted just as much as having it as a primary aspiration.
86  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 24, 20:45:32
I've been really enjoying these challenges as they've made me think 'outside the box'. Seriously, I've been just as guilty as the next person of building boxes for my sims to live in and I think the restriction of using only EAxis content has focused my attention on layout and themed decoration.

@Emma: that house looks like a good choice to me.
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Borked alien family trees on: 2008 November 24, 06:31:27
That was the first thing I checked, all PT files are present.
88  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 23, 21:45:07
I'd like to do a smaller lot for a change, say 2x2, as that's what I normally play. Any suggestions?
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Borked alien family trees on: 2008 November 23, 21:25:43
I found out today that pollination technicians seem to missing from various family trees in my MATY Inverted 'hood. I haven't checked all households yet but for those I've looked at so far the 'normal' parent appears while the pollination technician doesn't. They must have disappeared with the second AL patch. I am running Fwiffo's multiple pollination hack which may make some difference, however ACR adjuster correctly lists the father of a newly pregnant sim's child as pollination technician #35.

So, am I alone having this happen to me? Is there some way I can fix the sims so that the family tree is displayed correctly? Ultimately I've no idea who is/was the various pollination tech 'fathers' to the multitude of alien spawn in the 'hood which means I could go randomly assigning them if need be.

My offering this month is a little more traditional than modern with a fully landscaped garden and off road parking for one car. The cursed fireplace has been moved to the extension and I'm just living with the fact that it has a brick chimney stack. There's a swimming pool at the back and a large greenhouse. The original decking has been incorporated into the balconies and terraces at the front/rear of the property so is much nicer to look at. It should comply fairly well with awesomespec as it has a separate kitchen, easy access one desk and a suitable place for dumping bills. The living area is all downstairs and bedrooms/hobby activities upstairs. The magic wand was waved so it comes in at ~102k. I moved in MATY Inverted's latest couple (Kylie Giggy & Jupiter Lowbart) to test and it plays just fine.

91  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: November on: 2008 November 09, 20:15:30
I am working on this one and trying not to be too modern so have something sort of traditional modern instead. My only bugbear is the fireplace, or more specifically the chimney flue, so I've a couple of questions:

- do we have to use the same fireplace that it came with?
- is there anything in the game that can be used to disguise/alter the appearance of the chimney, especially where it pokes out the roof?

The red brick looks really ugly against my new colour scheme so I need to either hide it or blend it in. I've had a dig around build mode but have been unable to find anything appropriate.
92  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 November 01, 18:39:55
No, you choose Eevilcat, I loved your entry this month.

Thanks, but I have almost nothing to choose from as I don't have any of the EAxis 'hoods installed. The only one I ever really played was Strangetown and that's long gone so I was hoping that someone else would step in.
93  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 November 01, 15:42:34
As the 1st is here, is somebody going to start off a thread for November? Emma?
94  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 October 27, 10:20:03
Thanks guys, I've added an alternate mediafire download in the original post... and here: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=293267ffc45b6ab9d2db6fb9a8902bda

I didn't realise there was such a strict download limit with the other hosting service.
95  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 October 26, 20:56:40
Thanks Witch. I love those new windows as they fit in well with the modern style that I tend to favour. I think next month I will force myself to rebuild something along more traditional lines for a change.
96  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: October on: 2008 October 26, 15:06:22
I might have started this one early but it's taken all month to get round to finishing and testing it! I ditched the original platforms and replaced them with something a little more in keeping with the restyled house; the telescopes are on the same level as the original. (Now posted in the correct month's thread.)

The main living area on the ground floor is fairly open plan with a separate kitchen to prevent visitors stealing your chilled goodies. There are two bathrooms on the ground floor and a separate study for depositing homework. There's also a table in the entrance hallway for plonking down bills.

On the first floor (2nd floor American) there is a master bedroom with en-suite, children's bedroom and nursery as well as a bar/socialising area.

Above this is a sports/relaxation level with mini-gym, sauna, hot tub and sunbathing area.

I used all EPs + GLS/FFS/H&M/Ikea/K&B stuff packs.

EDIT: old mediafire link was broken, so reuploaded with new link http://www.mediafire.com/file/mjmmm3ionzq/Curious Remix.Sims2Pack

I'm having quite a lot of fun with this one so far. It's yet another modern design and it's mostly done, just finishing off really. I've done away with the old platforms and reworked them to fit into the new design. The top floor is still on the same level as the top platform.

98  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Fail: September on: 2008 September 29, 22:26:08
I finally found the time to have a quick install and test of this month's house. It uses all EPs and thanks to AL sports a nice new set of windows as the originals were from OFB so had defaulted to a bright shiny red rather than blue. I think I prefer the new look. Testing has been very brief - moved in a new family and checked that all the facilities work. Cost is ~73k after wavimg the magic wand.

The house has been transformed into a sleek, modern des res.

Front with pet-proof fenced area and parking for one car.

Rear with plenty leisure facilities - separate gym, fishing pond, covered hot tub and swimming pool.

Original features retained and incorporated into a modern design.

Outside Gym, toilet and shower included.

Ground Floor - entrance hall with desk for bills, large study with one desk, dining room with separate visitor proof kitchen and lounge.

First Floor (second for Americans) - double bedroom, child's bedroom and nursery plus plenty balcony space for stargazing.

Top Floor - for future skillination

Outdoor hot tub & swimming pool - plenty cover to stop the neighbours spying on you.

Required EPs: all, it was saved from AL. Required SPs: FFS, GLS, H&M, K&B, Ikea. I'm not sure that I've used something from each but I'm pretty good at random mix 'n' match.
99  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Enabling Build/Buy In Apartments on: 2008 September 29, 12:16:45
I assumed that by enabling both base and sublot tools that changes would be propagated. When I checked the other occupied apartment it did have the newly extended architecture so the change must have propagated at least some way. It's an idiotic limitation as I constantly tweak the structure of my lots.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Questions about landlords on: 2008 September 28, 21:39:53
Going back to the original comments on pacing landlords - I found the easiest fix was to make selectable which seems to trigger a 'Leave' action and they head for the door. I then immediately set them back to unselectable and they depart ok and return to their landlordly duties next day. Force error didn't work, it just sets them back in the same pacing loop. The problem seems to occur a lot once they become friends with your sim(s) and hangout after work; it's usually their actual apartment he gets stuck in.
