Your sim(s) need to be at the community lot when night falls (7pm) in order for ghosts to appear.

We're still in Feb, so here's my contribution:

From a paysite, but they're free... wonder why?  Wink They look even worse in game, but just in case you're tempted:

378  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Anyone want Enayla's Fanasty skins as Genetics? (Added Normal skins) on: 2007 February 17, 11:50:30
Thankyou for sharing these. I've just recently started using Enayla's fantasy skins and eyes so it's now kind of fun to see what 'flavours' of babies will pop out.
379  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 13, 23:05:59
Why is it that so many people are obsessed with breeding perfect sims? Ugly = variety and I'd rather have that than a 'Midwich Cuckoos' style neighbourhood of idealised conformity.
380  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 07, 13:49:10
The patched version is still running ok for me, in fact the loading times appear to have decreased considerably across the board (initial, neighbourhood and lot). I did have a couple of babies age to be bald toddlers but they miraculously regrew their hair when they transitioned to children. All new offspring have inherited sensible hair/eyebrow colours and look like either one/both their parents. Risky woohoo seems to have struck a bit more often, but that's probably one of those law of average things, a bit like waiting for buses; nothing, nothing, nothing... then 2 or 3 arrive at once!
381  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 03, 14:20:51
Aside from Lucy Hanby now being blonde in my game, they've fixed being able to position/save graves in build mode in community lots - this alone makes the patch worthwhile. Other than that I created a new CAS sim ok, aged up a bunch of sims then let them transition to elder and they had sensible ages (using the age duration hack). I then aged them up to the day before death and grimmie turned up right on queue. There's also been a risky pregnancy (terminated) and two intentional conceptions via ACR, though I haven't run the pregnancies onto full term yet.

The only oddity was the guest list for one elder sim's anniversary party; I invited 3 of their children, forgetting that they were in the sim bin without cell phones having just graduated from college. They didn't make it to the party and instead the game substituted them with 3 zombified friends who I'd deliberately not invited as (in my opinion) zombie apocalypse and anniversary parties don't really mix. Three fights later, everyone had a good time and the uninvited zombies left right on cue at the end of the party with the other guests.
382  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No parent in college cutscene on: 2007 January 31, 03:46:32
In my experience the cutscene only plays for the first child from a household that is sent to college. Any children after that simply go to college, no fanfare, no fuss, no cutscene. I'm not sure whether the 'play custscene once only' is linked to the household or to the parent sims i.e. does it play for the first student in each generation, or once and only once for a given lot?
The LTW is to graduate 3 children from college and I've fulfilled that by having each of the 3 children throw a graduation party.
383  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom hair: How to get one Elder grey? on: 2007 January 29, 23:06:57
Most of my elder clothes have been gathered piece by piece from various sites... the problem is that nobody seems to be interested in making decent elder clothing. The main exception I've found is All About Style (http://www.all-about-style.com) who have some great stuff. There are also some nice pieces on MTS2, Parsimonious, PureSims and Insim.
384  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom hair: How to get one Elder grey? on: 2007 January 29, 22:12:29
my elders MUST have grey hair!  I also insist on my elders retaining the hunch-back look...

I'm with you on that one and although the Maxian take on sim elders is extreme, it does clearly distinguish them from the other age groups. My attitude has changed since using the age duration hack, before that 30 days of shuffling platinum elder was too much. I do like the idea of old ladies with 'rinses' where they have a hint of colour added to the grey; that way you get an idea of how they were in their younger days. It would mean a lot of work fixing everything up though. I point blank refuse to have them wear the default elder clothes and it's taken me quite a long time to track down a good elder wardrobe - big granny pants and saggy bras, no thanks!
385  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: The Fight Club: Now With More Shinyness on: 2007 January 29, 13:45:31
I've been using the assault rifle from simwardrobe to keep the zombie hordes at bay. Once in a while I'll let an uber-zombie on the loose on a downtown community lot just to cause some mayhem, but on the whole once a zombie's turned 3-5 sims then that's their death warrant signed. Playable zombies tend not to last too long; once they've made enemies or turned everyone on their lot then it's curtains for them. The entire apocalypse was seeded from a single (badly) resurrected vampire who was completely pants in a fight until he'd regained his body points from the electro-dance-sphere/swimming. After that there was no stopping him. I also make it a policy for playable sims to build up 4-6 body points as children/teenagers, posssibly more if it fits in with their LTW, likewise any townies who marry/move in. I am considering supplementing the zombie apocalypse with a rash of cowplants as they will eat both zombies and live sims.
386  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How many sims? on: 2007 January 29, 13:11:54
I'm curious as to what a 'typical' number of sims for a large, played over a long period of time neighbourhood is. I've played both Strangetown and a custom neighbourhood a lot and (with all EPs installed) they're both about the 620 sim count and still rising.

[I'd like to know as I'm seriously considering writing a standalone family tree display tool as I've got so hacked off with trying to keep up with who's who in relation to everyone else. The potential maximum number of sims will have an impact on my design. I spent several hours Photoshopping family trees at the weekend and they're out of date already, so I plan to write a utility that will scan the neighbourhood of your choice then display the family tree(s) in a sensible fashion. That's a starting point, I can already think of additional features I would like to add, but not having touched a compiler in 3+ years I'll try remembering how to walk before I run.]
387  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom hair: How to get one Elder grey? on: 2007 January 28, 21:54:12
I've just binned a load of custom hair and found that a lot of them don't have grey versions. Does this matter? What will happen when the sim ages? I'm guessing they will revert to a standard Maxis hair that does have grey, but am not sure. I suspect I may have to go back and add grey versions <sigh>.
388  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dr. Death and the recalcitrant cow plant on: 2007 January 28, 21:46:58
The sim milks the plant and drinks the elixir of life straight away. They get an extra 5 days of life per milking and a memory of having drunk the sim that was eaten.
389  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: becoming the popular sim on campus? on: 2007 January 25, 22:54:16
The sims gets a custom memory which can sneak in under the radar if it that sim didn't have a want to be 'big sim on campus'. I've found that most romance sims achieve it after I started using ACR and installed double beds/hot tubs in the dorms.
390  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: tracking family trees on: 2007 January 25, 22:42:24
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try the Photoshop option first as I already use that to modify screengrabs of the neighbourhood view in order to track my lots and who's living in them. I'll also take a look at that Brother's Keeper software as it says you can enter at least 100 marriages for each person and at least 75 children for each marriage which means it can probably cope with Sims2 woohoo madness. I did try some other genealogy software before but it couldn't handle the convoluted sim relationships.
391  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / tracking family trees on: 2007 January 25, 15:52:20
Can anyone recommend something to visually represent sims family trees? I'm trying to get my neighbourhood organised and would like any easy way of figuring out who is related to whom, what generation I'm up to etc. The 'hood was originally used for a very successful black widow challenge so there were a lot (20+) of first generation siblings and I reckon I'm on 5th generation now. Numbers have been reduced a bit with the introduction of zombie apocalypse/assault rifles but this is balanced by the triplets/quads mod. At the moment I've got a roughly drawn chart that completely fills a piece A4 paper and I'm loathe to try an redraw it by hand if I can do it on the computer. I did have a look at Sims2DB which looks great but doesn't seem to play with Petz yet.
392  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dr. Death and the recalcitrant cow plant on: 2007 January 25, 15:33:19
I've also experienced snuffling cowplants. I had an (ex) townie with way too many children so after they moved out he used to invite them back home. They'd spot the cowplant and go for the cake; he got a lot of elixir of life that way! I found that the cowplant wouldn't eat sims that had recently moved out, it would just snuffle them instead. I wonder whether the cowplant maintains something similar to the sim-sim daily relations that decays over time apart. I used to make sure that they'd been gone a reasonable length of time before inviting them back over, that way they got eaten, not snuffled.
393  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: any inventory management in seasons? on: 2007 January 16, 23:57:34
I would like to have the ability to organise clothing be body type as well. I can just about manage spotting the difference between normal sims, athletes and bodybuilders but have only got the default replacement Warlokk meshes as I know figuring out which clothes belong where will be impossible with the others. Actually what I'd really like is some sort of customisable system so that I can organise it the way I want. Being able to add a description (that is meaningful to me) would be ideal. Having sub-folders would help a lot too as it takes forever to scroll through all the available clothing in CAS/buy mode.
394  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dedicated Buttocks Proposal on: 2007 January 14, 21:57:00
My contribution is on it's way, I've sent it to the credit card account as I'm on the other side of the pond. Can I have the girlie equivalent title please?
395  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it Just Me, or is this Community Stingy About Sharing? on: 2007 January 06, 11:01:14
I think the biggest problem is time. Good, user-friendly, technical documentation takes a lot of effort to produce. I've contributed a single tutorial to MTS2 so far and that only got done because I was off work sick for a couple of days and bored. I found that most of the information I needed was already out there but tucked away in various tutorials/threads, odd other bits I figured out myself or already knew. I also find that a lot of the info seems to be step-by-step 'how to do X' with no explanation of the bigger picture. As a programmer I've always wanted to understand why I'm doing something and how it works, not just blindly follow instructions.

(I've always commented my code/used sensible variable names etc, but I've mainly worked in teams - if it's well-written you don't get bugged by 'what', 'how', 'why' questions every five minutes.)
396  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Zombie Apocalypse: BRAIIIIIIINS! on: 2006 December 30, 00:10:22
Thanks for the info, that makes sense. Does this affect teen-teen interactions as well? The first teen didn't display any desire to eat her teenaged sister's brains either. In fact there seemed to be a lot more 'give friendly hug' interactions going on and she rolled up a fear of running away.
397  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Zombie Apocalypse: BRAIIIIIIINS! on: 2006 December 29, 19:06:09
I've been having much zombified fun with this over xmas and can recommend the SimWardrobe assault rifle for keeping undead numbers down. I did notice some weirdness with teen zombies though. If a young adult/adult/elder is zombified they pretty well immediately start displaying a taste for brains and start attacking an appropriate nearby sim. A couple of playable teens that were zombified at community lots just carried on acting the way they did before and are/were on good friendly relations with their family. However, as soon as I sent the first teen to uni, she turned into a slavering brain eating zombie just like the others. Are teen zombies meant to not want to eat brains?
398  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: can i request a hack?? if so... on: 2006 December 22, 15:32:13
Thanks for the heads up on the 1-tile pet beds. I'd been avoiding playing the household that just had 3 kittens as it would have involved some major building work to accommodate the additional sleeping arrangements.

In the real world though my cat is perfectly capable of taking up an entire king size bed!
399  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Floating Simkids on: 2006 November 24, 21:23:36
I saw it happen today for the first time. I noticed there was some weeds at the back of the house so sent a child to pull them up. When I checked to see where they'd got to I found them floating in the air while filling in a hole that some random pooch had left behind at the front of the house.
400  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 23, 23:38:05
Is it just Sims2 that causes the problem? Or does any game that is processor/graphics intensive result in the same blackout?
My only experiences of this have been hardware temperature related - I've seen both CPUs and graphics cards overheat to the point where the screen blacks out. Check out the nVidia website forum and their support - I think they have a temperature monitoring feature built into their drivers. You might need to run the game windowed (add -w to the shortcut command line) so that you can keep an eye on the temperature monitor. This should give you a pretty quick answer as to whether it's an overheating problem.
Another thing to consider, is whether the PSU on you computer can provide enough power - check the wattage rating compared to the requirements of your new graphics card versus your old graphics card. You might need to upgrade the PSU as well if it can't supply enough oomph to power the entire system (including fans) properly.
