26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WooHoo and Baby wishes - meh on: 2009 July 17, 20:35:43
This actually has an explanation: NPC sims don't have a want controller, normally, as the game is programmed to purge their wants when you switch out. If you have AwesomeMod and have selected them at some point, they will keep their want controllers when you switch away and WILL be able to roll and fulfill wants. Otherwise the game will purge their wants and not generate new ones.

Will giving lots of different NPCs want controllers add a massive overhead to processing in game or is it failry efficient? I'd prefer to flesh out my NPCs a bit as they are possible relationship fodder for the legacy family.

Cheers, I grabbed it again from mirror3 and it's the right size now.

Is there any particular reason why awesomemod has almost tripled in size? 3.5Mb to 9Mb from the previous version to the new one is quite a jump.

Stretchy toddler - sat watching TV with his older brother and did a Reed Richards impersonation every time he attempted a conversation. Methinks the TV chat code doesn't check for viewer age.

31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EDIT: Futher FUBAR. Damn, EA. You really fail this time. on: 2009 July 05, 22:51:13
I was going to tag this post onto the end of my borked phones thread as I've had the exact same thing happen again today with my newly restarted legacy and it looks to be the same problem.

As before I dealt with all the homeless families using 'runstoryaction Move In Household', but this time at the start and the game seemed to play fine for several hours. I then checked for and rehomed 3 more homeless families that had materialised (presumably one family for each career in the legacy household). Shortly thereafter the legacy spouse got promoted to the top of the athletic career and coincidentally the whole UI/contacts interface was FUBARed with the game unable to resolve his contacts (all/work) and left clicking on a sim in the UI to select them also stopped working. Selecting a sim by right clicking them in the game still worked and the UI could resolve the show family filter on the spouse contacts so household members were ok. Trying to have the spouse phone a sim to chat/invite over resulted in an error similar to yesterday but other sims could use their phones okay. I'm running the latest awesomemod and the only other mods I have are: HP's detailed male/female skins, no mosaic and the peen meshes for adult/elder males.

This has been the second showstopper/probable BFBVFS in 2 days so I'd like to get to the bottom of it. Deleting townies might solve the resulting problem but that's like taking a sledgehammer to crack a tiny nut; I'd rather it was fixed at source. (Pescado - I can upload the whole save game if that helps.)
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Borked Phones on: 2009 July 04, 15:20:00
I thought that might be the case so I'll trash the game and start the legacy again making sure that I home the homeless first.

EDIT: just checked the previously saved version of the game and it's probably borked too. Is there any chance that a floating/homeless household with a single baby could cause the problem? Can the game cope with that scenario?
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Borked Phones on: 2009 July 04, 14:18:26
My phones appear to be borked since giving the homeless sims in my legacy 'hood somewhere to live as I get an error when trying to phone sims to chat or invite over (see attached file). There also seems to be a related problem resolving the list of known sims in the UI as I get an entry with a red thumbnail and no name. If I click on it I still get the chat/invite over options and it looks like it may be a work related sim, possibly a boss from one of the career paths. Is there any way to track down and fix the problem sim? I'm happy to delete them if need be. The bug seems to affect all sims in the household.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where are all the townies? on: 2009 July 04, 13:25:01
The familyFunds command appears to have changed in functionality as it now simply sets the family funds to the amount you specify regardless of existing funds. Using +/- before the amount is now setting the fund total to zero. It also doesn't appear to distinguish between families with the same surname as my legacy family had their funds reduced to 40k in the course of fixing some of their homeless rejects.
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where are all the townies? on: 2009 July 04, 07:38:57
Cheers Zazazu, it was a bit of a marathon but now all the homeless are homed. For some reason the debug console now only remembers the previous command so there was a lot of typing to do.

You need to have 'EnableDebugCommands' enabled in the awesomemod configuration to be able to access runstoryaction. Without that all you can do is listhomeless and familyFunds.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Where are all the townies? on: 2009 July 03, 20:01:48
It appears that the lack of townies problem is escalating. I went the edit neighbourhood just to see who exactly is there and it looks like only about 4 households have any occupants, all of which are elders. One of them does have 3 kids but that is only because they were fathered by a spare resident  in the legacy family. There also doesn't seem to be any sign of the other four generation 2 spares that I kicked out of the legacy household, one of which also has a baby. The generation 2 sims I kicked out are still on the family tree but don't appear to be getting any older whereas the generation 1 spares aged up and died at a rate consistent with the legacy household. So how do I locate the spares that were kicked out and get them to age? I sort of assumed that kicked out sims would automatically move in somewhere but am wondering if lack of funds due to awesomemod is preventing this.

EDIT: I've found that if I invite round the generation 2 spares they appear to be the correct elder age and that the grim reaper turns up that evening to claim them. I'm guessing that there is a problem with them being updated while in 'kicked out limbo'. I'm not sure what is going to happen to the now motherless baby who I assume is now actually a teen, YA or adult.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Where are all the townies? on: 2009 July 02, 12:09:51
I thought I'd give the legacy challenge a spin to get a better feel for the game but seem to be lacking in townies to act as potential mates for the heir. The legacy is running in Riverview so I don't know whether it's a problem with that particular 'hood as there were plenty townies in the other 'hood. Most community lots seem to be deserted when I send my sims into town or there might only be one or rarely two other sims at most. I'm wondering if this is related to running Awesomemod with the no parthenogenesis option enabled as it might just be the game isn't producing new sims as the old ones die off and that this is becoming apparent now that I'm well into the second generation. It looks like the only new sims are colleagues in the career paths of legacy household sims so I've been picking off the single ones for my sims but there are not many to choose from. Any ideas or suggestions?
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Problems with game grinding to a halt on: 2009 June 22, 21:26:51
Ah, that's ok. I tried wading through the mountain of posts about awesomemod but am still playing catch up as installing the game was delayed until after completing my degree. I wonder if it might be possible to shift the lag back to say 2am as sims are usually sleeping by then while they're often still active at 1am.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Problems with game grinding to a halt on: 2009 June 22, 21:11:16
Since installing the more recent awesomemods (dated 21st and 22nd June) I've been experiencing problems with the game grinding to a halt. Graphics are being updated e.g. sleep animations continue to play but the game time appears frozen until it decides to lurch into action again. The hard disk light is on when this happens but other applications like furryfox are running quite happily. It seems to happen around midnight in game time and will freeze like this several times in a row. It looks like the previous version of awesomemod was 13th June and that worked fine.

41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 14, 13:45:05
It is not clear to me how you accomplished this feat, and I've heavily explored the Athletics skill, but I will add some more sanity traps.

I just had another look at the error log I posted and realise that it probably applied to a 3rd sim who was at home working out on the weights machine as I'd set her exercise mode to 'push it'. Maybe the game had unloaded some of the not currently in view home lot content including the exercise machine so it was referencing an unloaded object. It's the sort of object management fuck-up that could easily happen.
42  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD & SCRIPT HACKS: CRASH ISSUES THREAD on: 2009 June 14, 11:36:21
I got the crash to desktop on load after installing awesomemod+framework. I followed instructions to delete the cache files and added the enablescripterror.package file to the install. The game then loaded okay and I started playing. Two of the sims went to work and I double-clicked their picture to check their work activity. The first sim selected ok, the second selected and gave me the error below. I can still select another sim then reset the error and continue playing. Is this ok in the same way that it was ok to reset certain errors in TS2 and continue? Awesomemod is the only addition to the game and I'm running the retail exe windowed via a direct shortcut.

43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: My review of TS3. What I liked, don't like. on: 2009 June 09, 21:14:19
I finished doing degree type things yesterday so finally got round to installing TS3 today and managed to get in a few hours playing.

Likes:
Build mode interface.
Having to work at relationships and get a sim's partner in the mood to woohoo.
The option to do different things at work/school which seem to generate different opportunities.
CAS - separate shoes.
The Sim/Map switch.
Food doesn't last forever in the fridge.

Dislikes:
It feels very slow, not that there's anything wrong with slow I just like to speed up gameplay to suit my taste.
The pudding factor.
Maggot babies.
Baby and toddler care is a bit too easy - fetid nappies added to gameplay in TS2 so why take them away?
Lack of transition animations - not cut scenes - the sudden jumps from one action to another jar.
The way EA appear to have made a concerted effort to remove the need for CC beyond their patterns.
The game doesn't stay paused when you save.

@Witch: I didn't think of Kelly Osbourne and instead opted for a morbidly obese Paris Hilton.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What would you call a Sims3Pack editor? on: 2009 May 25, 21:57:27
Sims3Packinator or Sims3Packerator a la Rohina's suggestion would work.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: No censor hack for TS3 on: 2009 May 25, 11:09:11
Now all we need are some decent skins, detailed female mesh and a CrammyCock v3 to make it worth using.

[Seriously though, I'm being quite hopeful that a lot of the stuff I expect from TS2 will be in place or close enough by the time my finals are finished and I dare to install TS3.]
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Good, the Bad, and the Randomly @Toaded on: 2009 May 20, 18:02:45
Modability (including creation of CC) is probably the one feature that has contributed most to TS2's longevity so I'm stunned that EA could have gone so wide of the mark on this one. I did suggest ages ago that they might go down the route of licensing a tool for the creation of CC and this would certainly fit with that. Does the digital signing effectivlely replace GUIDs for uniquely identifying content? I expect that EA would rather be in control of the master database than let a third party do it as in TS2/SimPE.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Image hosting recommendations on: 2009 April 05, 20:01:45
My Photobucket Pro subscription is about to run out and I discovered that they've hiked the price up from $25 to $40 for the year. This combined with the less than favourable sterling to dollar exchange rate makes it a big no thank you. I'm looking for alternatives that are reliable and have no advertising - hence the willingness to pay for the service. I mainly use this for Sims images so I'm not bothered about being able to post smut therefore no pr0n limitations are fine.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: TSR Privacy Violation on: 2009 March 31, 21:16:27
I just love that, in all of this, the party line from TSR is ,"Oh yeah, we were hacked a few months ago. Must have been them."

If their member database had been compromised in any way then surely the members should have been informed about the breach at the time and advised to change their password(s). Smells like a steaming pile of kermit flailing bullshit to me.

I love the period style Witch.

Looks like my effort will be late again, it's built but not tested and I'm not sure when I'll get the chance perhaps at the weekend. Can we have a smaller lot next time please?

Hopefully "today" is still the 28th by MATY time. I've reworked the house completely into a fairly upmarket one bedroom  property with guest annexe, swimming pool, sauna and barbecue area.
