1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 27, 01:43:14
Is TS2 modding over?  My biggest fear is you modders will lose interest in TS2 now, like so many did with TS1 (understandably, mind you), and in time there'll be no more beautiful shinies to add to my game *sigh*

The thing is I got bored with Sims 2 some months ago, that's why I haven't been doing stuff for it lately.  It's not because of Sims 3 coming out.

Yeah, I kinda noticed that, but was trying to convince myself it was my imagination.

Back to TS3.....it is beyond my comprehension that dispite the outcry from the community in the early stages of development, that most players would not be happy if only one playable family could be controlled at a time (while others progressed), they went ahead and did it anyway!

Then again......maybe I ought not to be surprised *snort*

I didn't say I didn't want to touch that scripting per se, but I do have a strong feeling that I don't want to reengage in the hassle I had in sims 2 where virtually everything either of us made clashed with something the other made and I constantly had to field support questions about compatibility.  I can see myself sticking to standalone hacked objects, if I do anything at all.  Maybe it is possible to make a permanent recipe book as an alternative to the disappearing ones.

He lives!

Phadely Phinagler's got my vote for sure!  Have no idea how to pronounce it, but I like it!

*delurk*

There are no memories and no records of "Opportunities" achieved, or anything else achieved.

This is one of the things that bothers me the most. I want memories and I want the photo album back. Those are how I keep my story straight even if I don't write a single word I still have record to refer to.

Same here.  Hell, I create memories in SimPE for my dormies and adults townies/downtownies and CAS adults!  What's the point of them doing anything if there're no memories?  And don't even talk about sims running around living their own lives! Hell no! TS3 just cannot work for micro-managing storytellers like so many of us are.

This is tremendous for my arranged marriage story-lines. Oh dearest Inge, thanks for the update!

PcGeekri, the Conflict Detector tool is showing a conflit with Pesky's 'vacationfixes'....I don't recall the BV version doing that.  Can anything be done about it?
7  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crammyboy's nudist hack v2.07 (updated for Bon Voyage) on: 2008 April 07, 01:23:27
Just thought I'd let you know pcgeekri, that all seems to be working as its supposed to so far.  I got a simmie to build fitness enthusiasm using an old exercise machine - I heard that that was what was borked before the update. Going to see if I can build fitness enthusiasm with yoga and tai chi too.  I'll be back.....

EDIT:  Yup, its working for yoga too!  Good going there, pegeekri!  Thanks!

Heck, I'm so far past 12 that I didn't even know what a BFF was!
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can You share? a few mods by christianlov. on: 2007 May 10, 00:10:53
Actually, he's not Dave at Simsky at all.  I sound this reply from Dave at inSIM:

"Hiya folks,

Nope, I'm not Christianlov ;o). Christianlov is not Simsky, Dave Luv is Simsky
When Elranda emailed me, I thought she was talking about my TS2 mods (because I'm really focusing on TS1 now). In the next days, many players started to ask me about Christianlov's mods, so I was just OMG, is it a joke or what ;o)? Then I found this thread (and other threads refering to this one).

Thanks to all for your encouraging messages, even when they were not addressed to me  This was the first time I got more than one encouraging message per year "

Christianluv kinda disappeared for a couple of months.  Just before Christmas he told us (his thread dwellers) that he was getting bogged down with exams (I thikn he's in university).  Then no updates for a couple of months.  He surfaced to make one or two posts.......and then, poof!  He was gone!  School stuff maybe?

Now that the nudist bits and pieces are updated for Seasons, does that mean we can use the 'lessautonomousfighting' now?
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims missing from load screen pictures on: 2007 January 03, 01:45:08
Defintely since Petz.  THough I'm only noticing it in my main neighbourhood (Plesantview), but not Downtown or uni....and yeah, it's happening even in small (less than 8 member families).  Go figure!
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 24, 20:36:56
Plop.  This is not sounding good for my NVidia.  Like Orikes, I'm curious about what non-Nvidia's people are recommending.

My Radeon is a 9600.

The NVIDIA that I had to ditch was a 6800, which as I mentioned, was orignally on Maxis' "ok" list when OFB came out.  After the they were flooded with complaints, that and a couple of other NVIDIA's were just one day, no longer on their list (no explanaiton) *snort*
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 24, 14:27:07
Don't mean to be the voice of doom and gloom, but I tried all the fixes for overheating (that's one of the things that was suggested to me); went as far as to buy a floor standing fan, take the side of my cpu and have the fan aimed at the inside.  I also found the blank screen problem began to crop up more frequently.  But hey, I'm glad you've found a work-around.

I was able to sell my NVIDIA to a friend.  It gave no problems with other games; it was just TS2 (after I installed OFB).  I was a firm believer in NVIDIA, but after I invested in a Radeon, I was astounded at the quality of the graphics in TS2.  I had no idea the water (ponds and pools) was so amazingly reflective!  Certainly 'more awesome' (lame pun intended)
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 24, 01:25:31
Had problems with my NVIDIA card as well; except I'd get a blue screen.  Tried everything, including updating drivers, back-dating them, adding more RAM.  Eventually came across some threads in various forums where others were having issues with some series of NVIDIA cards (Maxis actually quietly removed some of them from their "ok" list that had originally been given the green light.)....Finally, bit the bullet and bought a Radeon, and have not had a single problem since. THe issue disappeared immeidately.

That path is true for OFB only.
Always use the path of your *last* install.

If your last XP/SP is Glamour, use the Glamour path. For Family Fun, use the FFS path. And for Pets, use the Pets path.

Other paths are not read by the game.

Cool!  Thanks, that's what I thought, but I wanted to be absolutely sure.  Thanks again!

Syberspunk, the readme file says to install this to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open for Business\TSData\Res\Wants is that right for Pets? Should we still be installing to OFB wants or to the "Wants" subfolder in the Pets folder?

erm...  it's a painting...  it counts...  the problem?

Seriously, no conflicts at all, it doesn't change anything, it just counts things.

And it also has nothing to do with the inSImenator.  It's a completely different modder from the creator of inSIM, who's hosted on that site and also posts at ModTheSims2.

Mine are getting the want to talk to themselves too!  And my neighbourhood is very new.  1st gen.

We feline types are drawn to the cooooooooool places.  I'm here at MATY all the time, I jus' don't talk much!  Me? Not talk much? Can you imagine?!!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 00:33:26
I've got a female child who just started spinning wants of being friends with herself and wanting to talk to herself...

no handhelds are owned by anyone in my n'hood

So your issue just started cropping up too? (btw, not many of my Sims have handhelds either, and the prob is coming up in ones that don't).  Hmmmmmmmmmm........

(Aside to SleepyCat: Great to 'see' you here Sleepy!  Happy New Year!)
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 00:22:58
Speedy response there Zephyr!  But I have TJ's NLNohandheld&MP3 autonomy fix (wasn't it a nightmare playing without it while TJ updated the mod for NL?!!)...which includes the fix for the befriending yourself prob.  Unless some other mod is overriding that mods fix of the issue.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............all my recently added mods are from here, so I'm at a loss  Huh

I had a major issue with NL for the first few weeks of owning it, and ended up with such a fubar'd game that I did a complete reinstall and started with all new families and everything.  So I'm really only now getting down to the business of playing NL and noticing the problem.  It's not the end of the world; I mean the want eventually goes away.....I just hate not knowing what's causing it.

But thanks a mil' though, Zephyr.  I can always rely on you to respond.............You rock!  Cheesy

Ok....so maybe I've read about this somewhere, but for life of me I can't find the thread.  What's with Simmies wanting to be friends with themselves?  I've got all of them wanted to do this.....and some romance ones wanting to flirt with themselves.  Is this a Maxian muck-up?  I really hope it is, and it's not a result of any of my can't-play-without-them mods.  Is anyone else getting this problem? Am I the last one off the ship? Does everyone already know about this and they're just ignoring it?  Is there a fix?
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Another possible romancemod problem? on: 2005 December 28, 21:09:17
By my recollection hot tub whoo hoo on a public lot never counted for public whoo hoo even in the base game.  Lord knows I nearly killed some of muh Simmies trying...........they had fun though!
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying/Planning Outfit Crash Problem on: 2005 December 05, 01:52:14
Well, it seems as though it's my neighbourhood that's flummoxed.  After a fresh install (and making my objects.pakages read-only) and replacing all my downloads, I had no problem in any of the default Maxis neighbourhoods.  But upon replacing my backed up original neighbourhood, the problem cropped up again.  It's defintely not the actual bodyshop files, because on one lot they'll appear all black and crash the game, and on another they display fine and can be purchased/planned without problems.  So at this juncture I can only surmize that somewhere along the line, I managed to corrupt my neighbourhood's clothes buying/planning feature.

My last hope is, I have a back up of my neighbourhood from my pre-NL install (just uni).......I'm going to do another uninstall; reinstall....replace my uni neighbourhood, and if it runs clean, I'll leave in my little un-corrupted Simies and then reinstall NL.  It means I'll have to re-build all my garages and driveways, but if I can save my neighbourhood it'd be worth it.

I've been playing Plesantview since September '04.  I've got a ridiculous number of Sims living there.  Perhaps my probs are related to over-population.  Well.......I guess I'll find out soon enough.  I hate giving up, so I'm off to try the above as a last resort.

Thanks again guys for your advice.
