76  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loading Game Stallout - help please on: 2010 August 05, 03:18:42
I do understand, and you are right - 99% of the time it is a dumb mistake. I actually expected to be treated much worse by you lot than I was.

And it turns out my mistake was fairly routine. I had missed updating one of Twallan's mods, and that was causing the issue.

Oddly though, the game would load fine with the outdated Twallan mod installed, as long as awesome mod wasn't there. Put them in together, and boom.

Updated to Twallan's latest version of MC and woohooer, and the game is loading fine.

Which is another very common, very dumb thing people who come here do. They come to complain it's Aweseomemod causing the issue and are certain all their other mods are up to date when in fact they are not.

Nearly all of the many, MANY Speshul Snowflake threads and posts about the same damned thing, their game stalling purportedly due to Awesomemod turn out to be either the wrong resource.cfg, having it placed in the wrong directory or running some other outdated mod (usually Twallan's). The remainder of issues not related to those two main causes are generally not patching and/or not getting the latest version of Awesomemod.

No matter how intelligent or different from the rest someone thinks they may be, it all boils down to the fact that if it's working for everyone else (among the non-tard population) and it's not working for you then YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. You either fucked something up or forgot something.

We all fuck stuff up from time to time. The difference is while some of us would do obvious things like troubleshooting 101 (if you are going to accuse a mod of causing your issue then you might want to test with ONLY that mod) and just keep working to figure it out on our own, a Speshul Snowflake starts a thread about it, asks us to tell them what is wrong and do their troubleshooting for them even though a whole mess of other Speshul Snowflakes already did that and the information is already there.
77  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loading Game Stallout - help please on: 2010 August 04, 07:24:55
In reference to the original poster's issue: game loads fine, but loading a new or save game stalls with a sliver to go on the load bar; I'm having exactly the same issue.

Patched to the latest, with WA and Ambitions Installed.

Everything installed under the Documents\..\Mods\Packages method

Reran Delphy's framework, everything looks good.

Load the game without Awesome Mod - works fine, loads right in to save game.
Add awesome mod and the cfg to the Packages folder:
 - game loads, but completely stalls with a sliver to go on opening a save game or a new game

No copies of the modded .dll anywhere, but I highly doubt that is a factor, as the base game loads.
Windows Vista 64, 4 GB RAM
No sign of any ScriptError reports
Running the game in a window, so no sign of hidden crash errors or alert windows.

Let me know if there is anything else I can provide that might help.

You're doing it wrong. Go back and re-read the help section at Mod the Sims on Installing Sims 3 Package Files: Setup & Files (the new way).

It was more or less a reminder to anyone, but I wasn't sure if your preparation process included decrapify of not.

Of course then if you don't decrapify the lazy Mactard pirates will whine.  Roll Eyes

On those shirts/posters, I don't know if EA made them for Livenation or Livenation made those themselves but they are seriously the laziest effort of any objects in the store by far. A BBS noob could easily make similar content in very little time by slapping some random image on the net into a shirt or poster in TSR Workshop.

Compare those to say something like this where the creator took real movie posters, remade them with with actual sims and put the text in Simlish and the lack of effort is apparent. They stick out like a sore thumb and do not fit the game environment at all, not to mention the fact that they are charging people for what is essentially advertising.

I am sure there are some people out there who want them, but I won't be downloading everything EA posts no matter what the quality simply because it is EA.
79  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loading Game Stallout - help please on: 2010 August 03, 17:09:26
And this, in a nutshell, it exactly why I recommend everyone, particularly the technically and memory challenged types, setup their mods the new way in My Documents without the need for the dll file at all.

I'm sure the memory challenged will still come back with every patch though and complain it isn't working when they in fact forgot to backup their files when they installed a NOCD crack. Some things never change.
80  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 August 03, 15:54:26
It should be noted yet again that Pescado (you know, the person who created the tool) has said the following regarding decrapified files and the sharing of them: (the key part is enlarged for emphasis)

NEW UPDATE
Can now compress and decompress Sims3Packs directly.

EXPERIMENTAL "DECRAPIFY" OPTION!
Invoke with "s3rc -fD" (fixonly, decrapify) OR "decrapify" (drag/drop FOR TARDS). Should fix all busted s3packs that don't install correctly in the launcher, like those old TSR ones.
Caveats:
1. Permanently and irreversibly alters the target package/s3pack. Due to the type of damage involved, the game will see the decrapified object as a seperate object from a non-decrapified object. Any saved game that used these objects or skins will be broken as a result, but...
2. If you decrapify objects, you must decrapify all of your SAVED GAMES (.nhd & .packages in your .sims3), PRESETS (userPresets.package), and LIBRARY.
3. DECRAPIFIED saved or exported items containing CRAPIFIED content will malfunction in a non-decrapified install.
4. THIS PROCEDURE IS EXPERIMENTAL!
5. decrapify exe requires s3rc exe to be accessible on path.

THEREFORE:
Do not share decrapified packages, only share original unmodified packages.
"decrapify" not available for Linux, because Linux users are not stupid enough to need it and can just use -fD by hand.

Also, I think you will find little interest in those band T-shirts and posters as they are cheap 5 second cut and paste jobs. Likewise for any non-game content such as images you can put on your BBS profile, Windows wallpaper and whatnot.
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Where to find GOOD custom worlds? on: 2010 August 03, 15:16:30
Surprisingly, the BBS on the official site has some good ones. The one that stands out in my mind readily is one called Neverglade. Pretty damn impressive sculpting, painting, and planning.

EDIT: Neverglade can be found here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/191704.page

Hmm, I went to that link at the BBS and saw this gem in that thread's replies:

Quote from: BBStard
Okk then
im also wondering how to use this "mediafire" dowload side. im totally stuck and it pretty confusing! can u tell me how ?

That makes our tards look like Einstein.
82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: My sims won't stop staring at eachother, help needed. on: 2010 August 03, 07:38:57
I havn't tried taking them out, was hoping I wouldn't have to lol.

ALWAYS test without CC before posting. We can't read your mind, and have no way of knowing which mods you're playing with. As Zazazu pointed out, something is likely conflicting or out of date.

The noobtards never do. They are either lazy and expect us to tell them what is wrong and how to fix it with minimal effort on their part or they stubbornly think they know what the cause is so they refuse to do basic common sense troubleshooting to rule things out and know for sure.

Seriously, how fucking hard is it to just move your cc out temporarily and try running the game? You can even just drag the whole My Documents/Electronic Arts/ folder to the desktop temporarily and try running a clean game. In the time it takes people to post and wait for replies they could already have done this and rule out a corrupt install or save.
83  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 02, 17:05:02
As far as I know, the DLL thing is still required, so it's not a question of new or old way.

Actually it isn't. That was the whole point of the EA way.  If the package files are in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods or some subdirectory of it then the exe recognizes them without need for the dll.

According to EA's patch notes for 1.12/2.7/3.3:

Quote
Placing Mod packages into the Mod folder is an officially sanctioned way to bypass assembly signing verification. The Resource.cfg file must be placed in this folder in order for the modifications to work correctly.

Also Mod the Sims in their help section explaining the differences between the old and new way notes:

Quote
With patch 1.12, EA has added support in Sims 3 for .package file content, allowing us to place it in a specific folder in Documents rather than Program Files, and simplifying the process by no longer requiring the d3dx9_31.dll file for script/core mods.

Anyway, I don't have the d3dx9_31.dll in any of my Sims directories at all in either Program Files or My Documents and have been running all my package files just fine including Awesomemod since installing Ambitions.

Re: J. M. PESCADO WILL YOU MARRY ME?

I think the Mrs. would have something to say about that. One could always attempt to engage her in mortal combat, but the odds of winning such an endeavor are not good.
85  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 August 02, 07:43:51
can i add new features/tuning files to the awesome mod package file?

Stop spamming. You already started a Speshul Snowflake thread for this.

Technically speaking, since Pescado's usage policy is "meh" you can, however if you don't have a good knowledge of coding good luck.

If by some miracle you managed to do it, you would also then sadle yourself to be responsible for updating your Awesomemod variant for every patch, expansion and stuff pack that comes out.

Hope you've got lots of time on your hands.
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 August 01, 22:10:28
I'm on a mac but I'm illiterate when it comes to more advanced techie stuff.

Are there any people on Mac who are remotely literate when it comes to anything techie and who also give even half a shit about the Sims? It doesn't seem like there are.

I will give you credit for at least attempting to work on a solution though, which is more than what the rest of Mac users who play this game and want to leech the store items from here have attempted to do.
87  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game Freezing w/Awesomemod on: 2010 August 01, 19:50:09
I used the Easy-Patch Downloader to force LAA. There have been lots of reports that the game's 2GB RAM limit has caused excessive crashing.
Worked like a charm for me.

There's that and the whole DAP nonsense too. Addressing both are probably worth a shot.

Hi everyone, just a quick question please...I have been out of the sims 3 loop since august last year due to my pc dying a painful death and losing all my saves Huh anyways I just now got my new pc and latest ep and would like to redld all the store content but would like to know if there is something knew I need to know about for all these latest updates and if there is a place on here that I can find it all together for dld instead of having to search through all the many pages Roll Eyes I mean I would do it if I had to but just trying to save a bit of time so I can get into my game to create which I haven't been able to do in so very long Sad So can someone help me please? Grin

hugs, Tazz

Not sure when you left and if this was the case then too or not, but in a nutshell, now you need to decrapify those files. See here. As an alternative to created the batch file that post goes into you can also decrapify a mass quantity of files using JFade's Compressorizer. However, after you do that make sure you go and get the newest version of S3RC, add it to your Compresssorizer directory and overwrite the existing file as the one Jfade uses is old.

For getting all the files again, there are several people who maintain directories on file sharing sites archiving them all and you can find them if you look around here a bit, however that requires a lot of clicking and usually waiting for those services to let you download each file one by one.

It's probably easier to just get a comprehensive pack of those files via torrent. The annoying thing with that though is that they all claim to have everything but are almost always missing something or other.  Undecided
89  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 August 01, 15:35:39
I'm trying from the launcher,so now that I know that doesn't work,I'm still idiotic...
Thanks  for replying, any idea how to make AM work though?

Going out on a limb here, but uh don't use the launcher?  Roll Eyes

Alternately if you absolutely insist on needlessly launching your game from that bloated, buggy piece of crap, go back and REREAD WHAT I SAID THE FIRST TIME. There is a way but it involves searching on your part. I am not going to do everything for you. Also, if you do it and then come back at a later date and complain that you can't patch I will point at you and laugh.
90  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 01, 15:25:33
Also, did you pull out the d3dx9_31.dll files out of the Game/Bin directories? I don't know if it makes a difference if you do or not, it does for some.
If you remove this file, your game no longer works. Put it back, making sure it is installed in your latest game version's game/bin directory, which normally means "all of them", since at one point each of them was probably your latest game version.

Which is why I like the new way better. Don't tell people who are obviously already confused to do it the old way. It's one more thing for them to mess up and it just needless complicates things. Plus with the new way, they won't come back after the next expansion and complain it isn't working when the cause is they forgot to copy the dll over to the new directory. Tongue
91  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM not running on vanilla? on: 2010 August 01, 15:18:55
Look just do it the new way. There's one less file to fuck up and I don't think people who don't know what they are doing should be messing around the Program Files areas anyway.

Move the mods folder and everything under it to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3/

Delete your old resource.cfg

Get a new resource.cfg. Put it in the My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3/Mods folder.  Make sure it is one specifically for the new way. If you aren't sure, open it in notepad and check the directory paths. If any reference the mods folder it's wrong.

Make sure your game is patched to the latest, version 1.14. I can't stress this enough. The new method for installing custom content does work for the base game but you absolutely must be patched up to version 1.12 or higher for it to work.

For more detailed info with pictures and a link to a new resource.cfg file go to the Mod the Sims help section here:

http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

If you having a Speshul Snowflake kind of day (life?) and you can't make sense of the Mod the Sims info or just can't get it to work there is an installer that basically does everything for you here:

http://www.customsims3.com/smf/index.php?topic=2420.0

Lastly, remember that while this is the place for support of issues directly relating to Awesomemod, if you are completely clear that Awesemod is the cause and have tested with only Awesomemod and no other mods or custom content to narrow that down, this is not the help desk for how to install mods in general for Sims 3.. There are plenty of other places better suited for that so next time take your ass to Mod the Sims.

92  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 31, 21:37:06
The game won't load without the disk,so I'm still idiotic...
I tried to install it in program files and documents,it just doesn't seem to work.

Are you trying to run the game from the launcher (ie the icon the game installs by default on your desktop)? If so, that would be why. Awesomemod does not disable the CD check on the launcher so you will either need to run the game directly from the actual game or episode exe file or get a cracked file for the launcher. The latter is not recommended as it causes problems patching later on. You can backup your files but many people forget to do so.

If you are launching straight from the game exe and it's still not working without the CD then Awesomemod is either not installed right or you turned off the CD Check disable in the config. I'm assuming the former because by default the CD Check is disabled and you would have had to actively go out of your way to change that.
93  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can't replace with newer version of AM on: 2010 July 31, 17:29:02
No shit I have fucked up, I didn't say I didn't. So I came here to find some answers. God it must be your PMS time of the month.

Turns out I didn't install it again with Delphy's mod installer thing. I thought I know I did but maybe that was with the old one.. I don't know.

BTW, don't forget your tampon.

Yo asswad. You don't need Delphy's installer to install the damned thing. That's only for clueless tards who can't figure out how to do it on their own and need some program to hold their hand and do everything for them.

For the record, that Monkey Installer has also been discontinued and does not the support the new officially EA sanctioned method to install mods. That method consists of 3 steps,

1) Under /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ create a Mods directory and under that a Packages directory (you can create further subdirectories if you wish).

[This next step is where most tards fuck up]

2) Create a new resource.cfg in the Mods folder with the correct paths not referencing that folder or download one that explicitly states it is for the new version.

3) Place (the latest, duh) Awesomemod  /My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Mods/Packages/ (or a subdirectory).

You're done.

95  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Missing body while bathing/bathing in shirts? on: 2010 July 29, 22:20:43
Awesomemod has a bodysnatch command which I think will just snatch their facial structure without the other garbage onto any other sim of your choice and then shred the original sim. Worth a shot maybe.

Out of curiosity, what ended up being the offending item that caused all this borkedness?
96  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2010 July 29, 17:45:11
I believe there's no proper workaround for macs when it comes to decrapifying. Sharing the already decrapped files has is only a partial solution, as the files seem to bork somewhere between computers and the internets. I'm using a mini laptop with XP to decrap my files, it's a bit slow but does the trick. The other option is Boot Camp.

Dos emulators could work, but looks like no-one has really looked into it.

As it would require far less resources than emulating Windows, one would think it would be a better solution.

Alternately, someone could ask Pescado for the source code to S3RC/Decrapify or use the existing source code for Peter Jones' S3SU that extracts packages to compile a utility that either decrapifies on Mac or extracts Sims3Pack to package on Mac.

Pescado even says in his post for the SR3/Decrapify utilty:
Presently available in Windoze edition, until the designated Mac tester can figure out how to compile it for Mac.

And that was over a year ago.

I guess I don't understand the mentality. I would rather be resourceful than to have to ask people to do things for me and then have to keep coming back and doing it every time a new set it released.

98  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 July 28, 17:08:16
Fuck off, Capstard.  If you "don't want any trouble," learn to write a proper sentence and don't double-post.

Isn't it interesting how we had BOLDtard and cApStard appear around the same time?

At least BOLDtard had some nerve, however misplaced and fucked up it might be.

cApStard on the other hand is all 'please, i don't want any trouble, i just want free shit handed to me already neatly converted without having to get off my ass and search or use any tools, then i want to be left alone to be annoying as fuck in peace.

Hi all,

Does anyone happen to have championship dreams in package format?

any help is appreciated.  Wink

Is there some problem with Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extractor or Peter Jones' Sims3Pack Unpacker or markjs' Sims3Pack Extractor?

And before you cry 'WAHHHH but I'm an entitled princess a Mac user!' Windows emulators for Mac do exist. If they are too resource intensive for your system you can always get a DOS emulator and decrapify them then install it via the launcher.

If that's all too complicated for you then either buy the damned things from the EA store or deal without it. As Pescado said elsewhere, we are not the help desk for incompetent pirates. If you are going to ARR something then you should learn to be resourceful.
