NEVAR FORGET!

I can't help but notice that you, The Wife, and me are standing in the sunlight.  Isn't that bad for our health?
52  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Propose/Marriage borked in apartments on: 2009 March 02, 21:00:09
I ran into an error a little while ago while playing some pre-mades in Belladonna Cove.  I tried to get Timothy Riley and Vivian Cho married, but when I had him propose marriage to her it threw an error on her.  They got married, but Vivian and her toddler wouldn't move in.  When I tried to Propose/Move In it threw the same error.  I ran into this problem before, but I haven't played apartments in a while, so I just forgot about it.

I'm going to try a community lot marriage to see if that works.  If not I guess I can just move everyone out to an empty lot.

Error log attached.
53  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack Requests? I'd Like a Newspaper Fix... on: 2009 February 24, 13:44:35
What's gotten annoying is that the paperboy/girl will hike all the way to your front door now and plop it down instead of at the mailbox.  And any walk-bys who want to read it will do the same.  A nice little "feature" that came with AL.

I seem to recall old newspapers attracted roaches.  I can't be sure though.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims 2 and Windows 7 on: 2009 February 24, 13:34:12
I've never really used 98.  I know people who've used 98 SE and said good things about it.  Guess I should've clarified.

My first computer had ME on it.  Oh, the horror...

ETA:  The machine I'm using now came with Vista.  Getting XP was the easy part (ARRR!).  Pumping it full of drivers so it would install on a system that didn't use the old IDE drives was the PITA.
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims 2 and Windows 7 on: 2009 February 21, 18:38:16
Considering the pattern Windows OS's have followed over the years 7 may become the new XP.

Windows 95 - Sucked
Windows 98 - Good
Windows ME - Sucked
Windows XP - Good
Windows Vista - Sucked
Windows 7 - ??

Only time can tell.  But if the pattern holds....

Of course, it could mean you're already dead too.  Be prepared for that shocking twist there at the end.

Okay, so I guess I'm getting into this L&P now.  Just wanted to go through some of this Alala Sims stuff.

Young Adults are on the game.

Does this mean Uni got rolled into the TS3 base game?

The hair customization has no limit. We can do high-lights and give different tones to every part of the hair using different colors.  The RGB System of colors is used to the colors of Create a Style. Once that you have created a style you can apply anywhere, like hairs, clothes, furniture, wall and floor.

This is kind of neat.  Should make for some interesting genetics.

Finally we have lots of accessories for our Sims, like shoes, socks, gloves, earrings, glasses, rings and bracelets.

Proper shoes and no sandals.  I approve.

58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 February 03, 16:10:19
Yes.  This differed from the FFVII strategy though:

1.  Equip one character with Knights of the Round + HP Absorb.
2.  Equip all characters with Mime.
3.  Chain cast 5+ minute long summon spell
4.  Huh
5.  PROFIT!!!
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 February 02, 19:27:54
Is there a patch that adds a mouse control to FF7 for PC? I once tried to get into it, good recs and all, but a keyboard-only fighter RPG? You gotta be kidding me.

It's a turn based game.  It's not that hard to play with a keyboard.  The big dragon will wait patiently for it's turn to come up after you've told your characters to hit it with their swords.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I need computer expert help here. on: 2009 January 05, 15:32:27
I would pass on the soundcard at the moment if budget is an issue.  Damn near all mobos come with on-board sound nowadays anyway.  You can always get one later when you save up more money.  Or be cheap like me and get an SB Audigy from Wal-Mart for $20.
61  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Apartment Hack: Now For Non-Fat Gwilly People! on: 2008 December 30, 17:22:56
And besides, can't you shift click on the door with testingcheats on and still basically move into a fully furnished apartment for free with this hack?
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romantic greetings and departures between friends? This cant end well... on: 2008 October 14, 15:25:05
Sims generally have to be in the same room to catch a kiss or flirt to react with the slappage.  Woohoo seems to be the only thing that triggers lot wide telepathy.

Greeting gropes aren't romantic.  In at least they don't cause crushes/fall in love.  Or cause jealous reactions.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romantic greetings and departures between friends? This cant end well... on: 2008 October 14, 15:18:43
It happens when the sims in question have two bolts or more.  What's annoying is that when teens do it they'll get the First Kiss memory too.  So you've just wasted that special moment between two high school sweethearts on a fugly townie they bought home from school.

This has gotten crazier with AL.  What with all the "Greet" interactions happening on the community lots.  If they have bolts they'll greet with a Smooch instead of the usual handshake.  In my Pleasantview Don Lothario got snogged by four different women while out on a date.  And none of them were his date.  Tongue
64  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Game is Bork, but I'm pretty sure it's not my fault. on: 2008 October 05, 16:24:20
I would've put it on a floppy if, you know, I had a floppy drive.  :/

Besides, I have a mountain of blank cds and nothing to do with them.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Game is Bork, but I'm pretty sure it's not my fault. on: 2008 October 05, 15:43:49
I had a stick of RAM go bad on me recently.  So here's what I would do:

1:  Download Memtest86+ and burn the ISO to a cd.
2:  Reboot computer with the cd in the drive.  This may require you to go into the BIOS setup and set your cd drive to boot before the hard drive.  (get techy husband to do this.  you don't want to mess willy-nilly with the BIOS)
3:  Let the test run for a few minutes.  If you see errors pop up then you have some bad RAM.

Now comes the fun part:

4:  Open your case and take out all but one RAM stick.
5:  Turn computer on again and let Memtest run for a few minutes.  If you see no errors take out the RAM stick and put another one in.
6:  Repeat step 5 for all of your RAM sticks.
7:  Take the RAM stick (or sticks) that had errors and throw them in the trash.  Put the RAM sticks that didn't have errors back into your computer and close the case.
8:  Enjoy your game with slightly less RAM.
66  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Enabling Build/Buy In Apartments on: 2008 September 29, 13:17:58
I used aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled False to replace some spiral stairs with an elevator in one of the EAxian apartments.  (The Sentinel one I think).  This was before I moved anyone into it.

Had to use all three cheats later on to add room dividers in a bed room to keep twin toddlers from waking each other though.

68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Permanent Suntan or Sunburn ? on: 2008 September 21, 13:57:38
Oh, by the way, suntans last about 5 days  Grin
That's what I was thinking, but like I said...it's been a couple months since I've played a beach lot, or even just visited one.

My findings seem to be somewhat random.  Or maybe I'm just imagining things.  I've had some sims loose their tans after three days, while others kept them longer.  And using lot debugger on those with the longer tan didn't work.  So apparently they were still supposed to be tanned.

I've only ever had one sim get a borked perma-tan.  It lasted for half of her adult life before I did anything about it.

Just discovered this one.  I guess EAxis got tired of everyone yelling and screaming for toddler to toddler interactions.

Anyone else notice the extremely small text in the dialog box when you have to name a baby now?  I find myself leaning close to the screen now to see if it's a boy or girl.

My nearsightedness, let me show you it.

71  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: An Apartment Building on: 2008 September 02, 15:25:41
Yeah, big rooms and big roof are big.  But in my limited building experience I've learned it's easier to deal with too much space than it is deal with too little.
72  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Nudist Hack V 3.1.4 (Updated *20080830*) on: 2008 August 30, 13:10:07
Well, had one minor issue.  Had a sim woohoo with another sim in his apartment and the other sim later woke up to went to her apartment naked.  I assume since it was the middle of the night there was no one to see her so she didn't bother to change.  Next day when I made the guy go over to visit and knock on the door she made the gasping sound, realizing she was naked and changed into her clothes.  After that I couldn't interact with his and she wouldn't move.  Finally had to delete her with moveobjects on.  She came back onto the lot in her work clothes and I was able to interact with her then.

I tried doing the same thing again in another apartment to see if I could recreate the bug or whatever.  This time the guy left the girl's apartment and went back to his naked.  But when she knocked on the door the next morning he was fully dressed and nothing appeared to be wrong.

So, aside from that one little incident there appears to be nothing that will mess up your game with this mod and AL.
73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 29, 16:34:15
So, yeah.  Being the very observant guy that I am, I just noticed this happy little button down in the corner of my screen.

Now the EAxian apartments can has ceilings.

74  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 28, 14:20:46
I've got the same mailbox bug someone else mentioned on the first page.  I was paying bills just fine with the new apartment mailbox until the mail carrier came by and put a dining coupon in there.  Now every time I try to get it out the sim resets.

Tried deleting stuck bills with the lot debugger, but it only deletes bills and not the coupons.

Log attached.
