Installing patches before mods are updated

This is an almost daily occurrence in my dorms.  I'd move sim-Trepie out if he wasn't such a fire loving daredevil.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What's the best way to handle memories? on: 2013 April 29, 16:15:54
I just cut it off at the source.  No need for a mod when its right there in the game options.

I just use Fraps. Nothing can go wrong with that  Undecided

Because recording giant .avi files totally helps too.

German Deer Godless Heathens!!!  80's work out clothes are the ONLY work out clothes.

7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Lag, what could I upgrade. on: 2012 June 16, 03:32:51
I have the exact same card.  It runs well enough without having to sacrifice too much.  I knocked the view distance options down a couple of notches and that was all I needed.  That being said you probably got it for the same reason I did.  I was looking for a video card on the cheap and found it on Newegg for $60.  So, no, it's not the best card.  And yes, you will want to save up for a better one.

HDDs can be a bottleneck too. When I was researching parts for my new PC, I discovered a lot of the new HDDs are labelled 'green' and often run as slow as a notebook/laptop drive i.e. 5700rpm. I don't game with any less than 10K rpm and the faster read/write can help with the over all system. In my old machine I had 2 smaller HDDs and put them in RAID 0 which helped keep my now 5 year old machine up to the task for a lot longer.

I predict they will try to phase out the HDDs we have now in favor of solid state drives in a couple of years.  Then we can all sit around and laugh about how HDD's used to be clunky devices that had moving parts while we watch our computers boot up in five seconds.

Does "Yew need moar RAMZ" apply when you already have seven gigs of it?  How much more do I need?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Sims 2 Vs. The Sims 3 on: 2012 February 01, 08:28:10
If you enjoy games that crash a lot for no apparent reason then TS3 is for you.  Playing this game is like holding a bottle of nitroglycerine while in the middle of a large crowd.  Eventually someone is going to bump into you.  And no one will be happy with the results.

Also, TS2 runs about a million times better and faster.

So by trolling the place you saved it?

This makes the ban seem highly ungrateful.

Most AV programs come with an exception list.  Try listing your crack in that.

In any case I've found something else to annoy jezzer with than Apple products.  I'm going to go and play me some TS2!!!

I would try a /fixall first.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Please help me fix this BS on: 2011 May 13, 06:29:31
Shutting your computer on and off adds more wear and tear to it than leaving it on.  The only time mine turns off is when an update requires a reboot, I'm going to be gone for more than a day, or when the weather is bad.  As for Macs and Apple in general, I would totes have one if I could afford it.  I like using something different every now and then.  This is why one of my computers is running Ubuntu.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Graphic Glitches with Windows 7 [SOLVED] on: 2011 April 27, 05:39:56
Is your video card supported?  I don't see it on the list of supported cards on the TS3 Readme.

Which shouldn't be much of a problem, because I'm trying to run TS2 Wink.

Oh, snap.

Ah, duh.  I'm so used to people posting about the current game that I didn't even notice.  How are things back in 2008?

19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can my game be better if I upgrade my machine? on: 2011 February 14, 01:02:16
I'm sort of in the same boat now.  My old machine blew up and I'm using a new one I bought some time ago but never got around to setting up till now.  It's got seven gigs of ram (Vista 64bit) and a quad core processor so I don't think I'll have any bottleneck issues there.  But it has ye olde PCI-E slots.  I know the new PCI-E 2.0 cards are backwards compatible.  But is it worth dropping the money for one if I don't have PCI-E 2.0 slots?  The regular old PCI-E cards are hella cheap on NewEgg.

My sim used to just run to the gym in Bridgeport because it was right across the street from his apartment.  Now he insists on using the subway terminal on the apartment lot to get to the subway terminal across the street on the other side of the gym.  This is very annoying.

ETA:  On the other hand, my toilet hasn't broken 20 times in one week.  So I guess this is some improvement.
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 November 30, 04:57:22
and he does nothing except work and collapse on the floor.

This appears to be a problem with everyone.  It's frighteningly common for me to switch to another household and find everyone passed out in a puddle of their own pee and starving.  There's a couple in my current Bridgeport stuck in an eternal "Tour City Hall" with "Expire" in their queue.
22  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM is Borking Vampires. on: 2010 November 29, 23:06:33
I was fully prepared to go on a blood sucking rampage until I found out you have to get friendly with the victim and then ask them if you can bite them.  A bear doesn't ask you if it can eat you before it eats you.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Newly-placed lights won't light up. on: 2010 November 29, 17:08:30
I find toggling black lights on for the entire lot and then toggling them off fixes this too.

The red splashes are very unfortunately placed on the crotch and buttcrack!  Cheesy

FIRECROTCH. That outfit wants to be worn on a pink scooter, methinks.
