26  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 26, 17:35:40
Yes I did.  I had to add some lighting to a CAS I had downloaded.   I don't know if the new stuff pack was there afterward...Supposedly according to the PR on that Anygame Starter it doesn't affect the game files, but exists separately from them.   So, I guess the best course wouild be to reinstall Kitchen & Bath.    I'll try it next.   Thanks.  K
27  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 26, 17:07:09
I don't know what I did.  I am using the BV nocd ... linked in the SecuRom thread.  But when I first installed the stuff pack, the objects were there.  And the clothing.    Now, they don't show up anywhere.  I can see the folder in the File Manager, so it is still on the computer,  but the objects etc. are AWOL.   Was there a newer BV nocd I should have?  Anyone else have this problem?   I did install the newest CEP,  but even with it uninstalled the stuff pack is still missing.    Any suggestions would be appreciated.    K Shocked
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Sims are freezing in my self created CAS on: 2008 April 05, 03:43:20
I did get the AGS over at MTS2 and have now created some actually lovely little CAS for my various games.    The first ones were too dark,   but some overhead lighting cleared up that problem.  What an excellent idea the AGS!    I am now one happy camper!
Thanks for the responses and help.  K Grin
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / My Sims are freezing in my self created CAS on: 2008 March 12, 15:18:33
I read some warning over at MTS,  but thought it was corrected by now.  BUT!  I made a beautiful CAS screen for my Historical Sims game...and my Sim immediately began freezing to death.  Has anyone associated with MATY written a counter curse for this?   I know I could use one of the "select the EP" programs,  but in that case I won't have access to many many beautiful items to use, since I would be limited to the earliest EP objects.   I can't believe someone hasn't produced a global to correct this bug (there since Seasons) or an object to insure climate control for a CAS.
My aim was to make a specific CAS screen for each of my types of games...using objects from or indicative of the content of the downloads for that particular game.   My first effort for my Historical neighborhoods came out so gorgeous that I am sorely disappointed to have to toss it and start over -- if a cure can be found that is.  Thanks in advance if you can point me in a direction.
I have used the search,  but CAS turns up everything but what I am looking for including messages with "case" "casual" etc.   Too bad it can't read my mind.   K
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trailer trash/ Chav names on: 2008 February 04, 04:01:44
How about Charley,  and Mack?   I very seldom run out of names to suit a neighborhood.   In fact as they come to me I jot them down in a spiral notebook to use later.    Here is what is on my trailor park  listing:  Roy   Ned    Sam    Hank   Earl  JoeBob    Buster    Ezra    Clyde                          Bubba    Willie    Homer    Seth   Delbert  Dwayne   Jess
Those are the guy names.
Then there are the last names:    Cline   Dunn   Dyer    Workman    McCoy   Gunn   Crate   Timmons   Polk    Lamp    Loy
No offense if you know people by any of these names.

Does  Chav refer to Spanish sounding?    Here is a list anyway:  Pablo   Miguel   Jorge   Jose   Roberto   Diego   Salvador   Jaime   Alejandro   Enrique   Manuel   Juan  Vincente

Handy thing this notebook!  Cheesy
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Question on: 2008 January 30, 19:32:55
Thanks for the input.   It looks like it probably will be the 3870 (hope it will be available, guess they are in high demand.) My tech wants me to try with the Intel graphics on board,   but my processor is only going to be 1.6 per core,  dual core.   So I doubt it.
All I can do is wait and see.  At long long last, I guess I will have my new hardware Friday.   What a messy trip this has been!   I now have four computers,   this old Win2K that I use for the internet, downloads mostly,   the old XP being renovated with mobo and case, and a brand new Vista machine that isn't going to get near Sims or much else, that I use for records, and finances. Of course, the fourth is my husbands machine used predominantly by him for e-mail and solitaire.  That one has had NO problems.   I won't even network these, after the problems I had with my game machine...with a suspected "intruder".   Someone was definitely sharing the system.    And my scanning programs never found a thing.    I also changed ISP's suspecting maybe it had something to do with roadrunner...some security issue there.    If it wasn't for Sims,   I would be tempted by now to just write checks and keep all my records on paper.     Angry              Thanks again for the help.  K
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graphics Question on: 2008 January 30, 00:54:03
I don't know if this is in the right place,  but I know the caliber of some of the folks on this board, so probably I will get a good answer. My tech and I have (two months since that computer broke down---probably due to SecurRom---) finally decided to outfit my game machine with new case and mobo.   I had a Radeon X850XT in the old case, but it won't work with the new mobo, since it needs an AGP slot.   My birthday is coming up and I am considering getting a PCIe graphics board for the new system, for better graphics support for the game.   I don't play any of those run, jump and shoot games,   just Sims,  but without an adequate graphics controller, you end up with flashing blue and red lights...and so on.   My OS is still going to be XP,  the new board has dual core, but can't be to sure yet of the clock speed.   And my monitor is only a year old,  but isn't digital...even though it is an LCD flatscreen.  Given all the above,   who can suggest a PCIe graphics controller board that will handle the Sims at least as well as the Radeon did.   I know some of the Nvidia boards have been causing crashes and it doesn't seem that issue has yet been resolved.   So I wish to avoid them.   Money isn't much of an issue, like I said my birthday loot will cover a good chunk of the expense.   I guess anything up to about a $400 board would be good.   Help?  Anyone?   Thanks,  K
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 November 29, 22:19:46
Hi Again,  On with the saga.  Have a new Vista machine en route,  no Sims goin' on that one darnit!    Set up the broken machine with the disabled USB's as a standalone just for Sims and ripping my music.  Sneakernet is a PITA,   but better safe than sorry.   Thanks to all you intrepid folks, for all the comfort and support.   No SecuRom.  Followed the instructions (once i understood them) and all is well.   Not that it probably matters at all now since the damage was already done to my USBs and that borked machine is going no more online. Thank goodness my hubby is all love and understanding!  The minute it looked like a mobo failure he said buy a new one,  and then when it wasn't he said buy a new system.  He is such a love.   That is my reward for not crabbing about his hunting trips.  Heh heh heh.   More Sim time for me, right?   My sympathies to all the kiddoes that will have (and have) problems and no money or support. K
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 November 27, 13:53:31
Uh folks.  I feel like such a n00b....Never used a cracked exe before.    There is a 3kb file with the Fairlight file,  that is named fltdox.  Does that go somewhere?    I still don't have a standalone set up for the game...awaiting my tech at the moment to see if he can recover my USB capabilities.   I got a lot of tips from BleepingComputer.com,  seems I did have an invasion.   But since the computer has been wiped, unless it is connected to the Internet, I probably won't have those scarey weirdnesses (death to all nesses)   anymore.  They suspect I may have caught something "in the wild" and gave me a routine to find it...if it ever happened again.   So far, this eight year old Win2000 system is looking secure.
BTW guys, thanks for all your help and kindnesses (that one we can keep) ... What a great site!
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 November 26, 03:18:13
Hi, I too have had lots of computer weirdness since the spring, and it kept getting worse.  My tech said he suspected a rootkit, and then I found out about this Securom stuff.   Well, long story short,   I am now waiting for service on the machine because my USB's are malfunctioning.   Once I get either restored USB function or a new computer, I am setting up the game system to "stand alone"...no internet connection.
For the first time I have downloaded a noCD crack from the link http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/sims2bonvoyage.shtml
but I have read enough of these threads to be confused.   The first entry from Pescado was clear enough.  When i reinstall my game and EPs etc, before the first time I start it, put the noCD crack in place of the .exe ... got that.  But there is stuff about torrent and Yasu and Daemon and I don't know how that all applies ... Is the noCD all I need, will I still have the CD in the drive?   And the link above has two files,   I wasn't sure, so I picked the second, is that for the BV patched game?  I never in my life expected to go and get a noCD for anything, but I have been through HELL since April,  if anyone is interested I can list 8 very weird things I experienced that convinced me someone had unauthorized access into my home network.  Any advice vis a vis the noCD and which one I need would be very appreciated.  K
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Installing on an external harddrive on: 2007 November 25, 20:17:43
Hi,   I ran several versions of the Sims2 on external drives.    By moving the My Documents folder there.  Unfortunately,  I seem to have burned out my USB ports in so doing, when I made a backup of my neighborhoods and download folders.  But the game does run fine with the EAGames on an external drive.
It won't prevent Securom from getting onto your main hard drive though, since Securom installs into the registry.  And that means whatever it does it is in position to do it.
Sorry!   For me too.   I am sure that SecuRom (from SONY no less...and since the CD rootkit case---what was EAGames thinking?)  had something to do with several security issues on my system, like permitting popups I had said no popups...and I have read that it will turn off virus protection and firewall protection.   So once I get (A) A new mobo,   or (B) a new computer whichever system has the Sims will be a standalone system,  not on the internet, and definitely not used for banking or my checkbook.   I had eight weird things go on on my computer,   from a possible "rootkit"... and once I completely reformatted and reinstalled my operating system,   as soon as the Sims was on there (and yes H&W stuff has it too) the weirdness started up all over again.  So that answers some of your questions and I have a lot of questions of my own about this copy protection from SONY...whatever its name!  K
37  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Medieval Townies & Base Game NPC's for all. on: 2007 November 02, 21:36:51
Hi Mim,   I too have been struggling with a Victorian neighborhood, a Medieval neighborhood and a Wild Western one.   So many anachronisms!    I found the Hexameter wagons,   a carriage,  and a really well done horse as well as a bicycle over at MTS,    but I have a real heartache with the NPCs from BonVoyage.    First of all,  I have the hack done by someone that just makes all lMaxis cruddy clothing dissapear....except BonVoyage stuff.   Guess we are all awaiting SimPE.    The RPC not revert thingy by jaxnad just doesn't function.    I can change the NPC clothing with the rack,    but there you are with the bellcaptain in his modern dress.   And the generated people show up in resort wear.   I like BonVoyage for my other games...I have external drives set up for multiple MyComputer setups....so just uninstalling does not appeal.
Its a shame that Paladin hasn't continued with his NPC changer.   I sent off a message in the forum,  but I guess it is a dead issue or no longer supported.  It worked quite well for the NPC's in the early EPs.
Also there are tons of western, victorian, and medieval outfits to use,  as well as hairstyles galore. My next effort is to convert the taxi and maid and repair cars in SimPE when we see it again, to substitute them with wagons.
I find your postings here interesting.    And I can't wait to see what you do with the victorian theme.   How are you handling the anachronisms?   Any advice?
I found the latest version of jfades Wranger helpful.  It makes the custom clothing townified.  Really cuts down on the number of wandering townies in wrong garb.    Hopefully, when jordie gets around to updating the get rid of Maxis clothing and hair thingy, that will stop happening.  Thanks and good luck with your project.  :-*Thanks J.M.    I will add that cheat to my sheet of cheats.   I had the debugger on the lot, while my Sim was there and got a lot of options from it,  but nothing that would have got her unstuck!   Thanks again.  K
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / I want to enable build/buy on commercial lots on: 2007 October 31, 02:24:32
We used to once upon a time have a hack for this.   Anyone know if there will be one updated for BV?   Is there a safe alternative to use meanwhile? Seemed this was the best place to look,  but key words I used didn't turn up anything.  I have a keyword disorder.  Thanks, K

 Grin Roll Eyes

OK!
I get it.
Actually I was quite serious, cause I support lots of creators out there.  So it was a compliment to these guys if nothing else.
When I decide someone is deserving of support,  I always look for the pay link,   and if I don't find one I always ask.
I guess because I have done some (very lame) creating and I know how painstaking and time consuming it is if you are trying to turn out quality ...  so since I can, I do my best to encourage those more talented than I.

Thanks for the heads up, to those of you who answered my inquiry nicely,   and to the rest.... Tongue

41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what is an overpopulated neighborhood anyway? on: 2005 November 17, 03:30:49
In case anyone is still watching this topic,  boy you folks really kicked this one around.    I noticed in my Sim Enhancer there is an option to kill off specific SIMS and that includes NPC's .... I haven't had to do it, my neighborhoods are pretty barren.   I develop a few Sims at a time and then move on to another neighborhood.   Just to let you know that there is a tool to use.

42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Naming My Downtown-Need Help on: 2005 November 17, 03:24:34
Hi,  I have had a lot of fun naming lots of neighborhoods.  I guess from reading lots of names pop into my head...Like Palcareeda.....
How about Connorstown?    Upper Medford?     Lake Chatelaine?     Mineonina?    Mount Agratop?    Chambersburg?    Take most any combo of letters, alternating vowels and consonants and stick a 'ville   or a   'burg    or a   'town   or a 'ton  on it and voila...there yah go.

So maybe you won't make fun of me, or you might.   I see there is a link to a Pay Plus site.  And I wanted to join...to support...to encourage...and to have an inside track to beg for some stuff we are all direly in need of.    However the Pay Plus site keep saying the URL is not on that server.   So are you still collecting and is there such a site in existence?    I love your work BTW and also that of Crammyboy...Big admirer of Crammyboy...

So what is the scoop on the pay site?
