1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: DVD base game, digital expansions? on: 2015 April 04, 17:16:27
Hello,
I have the DVD Premium edition of SIMS4,  and have received all patches, updates, packs and expansions digitally.   I bought the DVD version through Amazon even,  but upon registration at Origin  the game appeared in "My Games".   I can begin it from there every time and all new content appears in my game.   Hope this answers the question.   And the original DVD does not have to be in the drive.

I am terrible at searching....coming up with nothing and I know I once had some pre-nightlife cars that were just to look like there were cars but weren't yet driveable.    F-P made a few I found,   but there was once a number of them.    I am trying to make a parking lot look realistic...but unless I make it residential the cars don't stay.   Can help?  Thanks, K
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / GameCopyWorld has a TROJAN! on: 2010 March 06, 21:11:00
All I wanted was a no-CD for The Sims 2,  the base game.   And what I got -- which my virus protection stopped!  -- was a Trojan.    Where is a safe place to get said no-CD for the base game on DVD....??   Please share!

Cry  Huh!     Sad   Thanks Pescado.  I figure if anyone had a chance of knowing it would be you.  And you saw my inquiry.  Thanks again.  Guess I'll just settle for what I have.  Undecided    Whaaaa....K
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can I get Sims2 to use more RAM? on: 2009 December 13, 01:37:43
Hi,
I recently upgraded to 8GB of RAM and Windows 7 64bit.
I notice however that I am limited to 4096 (4GB+) in the game.  Whadda waste.
Is there a way to force the game to use more of what is available to it?
My machine is dual-core.   If I use only one will it use more ram or less?   There is an easy way in Windows 7 to make that kind of setting.
Is there a setting I can use in config?
Please advise...I have tons of CC and wish I could add more,  but even with 4GB operating I still see a 1900+ cache (from the page file?)  It is silly to have this game using a slow pagefile when it could be using the physical memory.
Thanks,   K
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Deleted a maxis mesh! How can I get it back without reinstall? on: 2009 April 20, 04:37:20
Roll Eyes  So here is what I did,  I did this,  I am stupid!  Cry
I deleted a shirt from men's clothing...it was a Maxis shirt,  not CC.  And my dolls,   all male dolls ,  now have no body, just a head floating around like a balloon.    Is there any way to get just the folder or file restored for just the default body meshes (Maxis) ??

I hate to have to do a complete new re-install, but I will if I have to.    Suggestions?   Anyone? Huh

Thanks Seelindarun,   it was reading these latest posts that got me spooked that and that business in the FT patch.  OK.  I feel better now.    Have the noDVD standing by.  Reloading.  Thanks again.  K

Hi,
I just completely uninstalled my Sims2 games and am going to reinstall.  I read through this thread and I am kinda alarmed.  I have dodged Sucky-Rom so far, on this system,(after it completely destroyed the USB's and CD writer on my old one)...I am reading of people getting it from just an install??  AND the latest FT patch info looks very threatening.   Do I need to patch if I have Apartment Life?

"Updated SecuRom version to resolve an issue where some players started their game through the launcher or clicked on the game executable, but never saw the game splash screen on monitor and fixed emulation problems players were experiencing. " WTF!

Am gonna clean up my system and await an answer.   I have the no-dvd from gameburnworld...will that dodge this industrial virus?  Please advise before all my cautions in the past go up in smoke along with my game system.   K

Hi,   Well the AL no CD is only my second one ever.    And I am now confused.   I downloaded the No CD from GameCopyWorld for AL with the patch.   The original No CD exe was some 44K in size...44,738...The new downloaded exe for AL with the patch is only 6,288Kb in size.   Anyone able to explain to me why?  Shouldn't the size be relative?   Is it the correct one?   Is this safe to use?   What about the patch would have resulted in a vastly smaller exe?    Did it or no?    I will hold off on patching and applying the No CD until someone can get back to me.   Thanks in advance.   K

Does anyone know why the Clean Installer would call all the objects "hacks"...turns them bright red in the listing?  Are the objects doing something that I should know about?  Some buried programming in them,  like spyware?  Or calling home...to let EA spy on my system.   Call me paranoid,   but they are getting way out of line.   Please advise...K

So I did run in windows and lost all ability to edge scroll.  Changed it back.   My neighborhoods are all too big to now be able to scroll.  Yow!  Mostly it cut down on the ability to follow my sims when in the lot itself.  No edge scrolling is not very efficient.  And I did have it turned on...it just wasn't functioning.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Access Violation Crash on: 2008 July 16, 01:48:19
Hi,  I don't have SecuRom and I do have the no-CD crack, every EP up to FT.   And the same thing has been happening to my game,  for no evident reason.    There is NOTHING in the log that tells you Access Violation that gives any hints.  What I hate is that the neighborhood stands a good chance then of being corrupted and lost.   Just went through that.  Same deal.   The last time I got that crash I hadn't added any new DL, CC or hacks of any kind to that game.   Other time I traced the problem to bad or corrupted CC in some cases.  In others, investigating turned up nothing.  This was the first time I had the error and had installed no new content.  I am suspecting some kind of memory leak...I have three GB of Ram and it seems it had used an awful lot of it.

Thanks folks for revisiting this subject in this thread.   With the recent unpleasantness with my lost neighborhood,  at times the screen would lok  up   and I had no option but to do a very chancy  powerdown reboot but hitting my off/on button.   Since control alt delete wasn't responding with the game screen locked in.    From now on I'm running -w.   Already changed it.  Thank you all again so much! K
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Losing Whole Neighborhoods on: 2008 July 10, 19:30:06
Thanks for the pointer Pescado!  You are the man!   (Hope I got that right....)
I remembered from working with making CAS!  that I could take any lot and change its file name to a cx file.  So I have all the houses.    And fortunately I had renamed the neighborhood template for my neighborhood to the same name,   so I can rebuild it from snapshots.    I had managed to get the families into the lot catalog/lot bin already.   This particular neighborhood had an owned hardware store,   a home business junkyard,  with dog...(cranky brute!)  and a lot of very nice things like a golf course!  And a men-only club.    I had spent a lot of time and it really aggravated me when for no apparent reason it acted up.   I wish the txt file that we are given in the log had some clue as to what tripped.   It would be a great deal of help at times like this,   but for all my studying it,   I can find nothing that tells me anything of value.   Oh, well.  Maybe in Sims3....That will be a year old before I chance using it, once someone has cracked it to reduce the EA/Maxis interference.    Copy protection my butt!   K
BTW,  I have tried to just copy the file straight from the Neighborhood folder into a new neighborhood,  but it wasn't placed.  The lot bin is as close as I have been able to come.

Yes, I did try to open it without any CC.   The test bed I refered to has no CC.    That is where it opened,  but again crashed on trying to enter a lot.  All the elementary steps I know have been tried.   Is there a way I don't know about to regain just the populated lots?   No one has produced a program to isolate lots and salvage them,  when the game doesn't permit packaging them.   Sad  I could clone my people through SimEnhancer,   But it seems their homes are destroyed.    Hasn't anyone else had a problem like this?   K

Angry  When I lost Starling Springs a few months ago,  I tried and tried everything I could think of to get it working again.  It would load up just fine,  but if I clicked on any lot there the game would crash.   This happened for no discernable reason.  I finally was able to package up my houses and put them on an empty new neighborhood screen.  There weren't any people there yet.  So oh well!   Now the same thing has happened to a populated older neighborhood.  It was fine then the next time I went to it a few weeks later, the minute it tried to enter an unpopulated commercial lot, to work on it,  the game crashed.   When I tried restarting it crashed before it got to the neighborhood screen.   I moved the neighborhood folder to a test bed and it started but still crashed when I tried to enter an empty lot there.   I restarted it and tried to package up some of the families like I had been able to in Starling Springs,   but it crashed at the point where it should have said the package was located such and such where.
I have tried to put the neighborhood folder into another game,   I have several,   and got the same reaction....crash crash crash.    I took out all the suburbs and snapshots and managers.   It started up,  but the first time I tried to enter a lot crash.
I have all the EPS and SPs except TeenStuff ,, Ikea,  and FT.    When SecuRom raised it's ugly head I began using a crack (after I lost an entire computer to it) Anyone have any magic solution to recover this neighborhood.  I had a few families there and some really Pretty homes.    All the elementary stuff like deleting the cache etc. have been no help.   Is there something I could change in the game files themselves,  like a corrupted sg,   and where could it be?   Thanks for any and all help.   I hate losing an old neighborhood let alone the 24 or so people I had living there.   K
19  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 02, 23:55:43
Thanks so much to you all for working with these things.   I went to TheSims2 site to see about that Apartment EP...Skipped FT,   but I really could use help with multiple dwellings.  Well, I logged into the SimsStore to see what was being offered.   When I read that you had to install two other programs to download and use this stuff,  I sighed and shut it down.   I have had a computer destroyed by SecuRom...USB's burned out, CD drive borked...all the standard Sony technology destruction.   So,  here I am for the first time in my computing life using a crack...and will have to wait for the Apartment crack before I buy that.... It's a shame that they are using this tactic now to get this program onto people's machines.   I'm wondering why...and why be so adamant and forceful about it?  Could it be more than just a way to copy-protect?  Are they farming out cycles and resources from Sims players equipment to interested parties?  All kind of conspiracy theories play in my head.
Long story shortened...right after I backed out of their "fantastic deal"  I headed to MATY and sure enough the wonderful Pescado Patrons were on the case.  Thanks for fixing the Maxis crap and for sharing.   I for one have no complaints, this site and the people here have been GodSent.    Love you all,   K

YAY!   Was a broken worn out drive.  Have a brand new DVD/CD writer on the SATA bus and it is just fine.  Now I learned not to use the Anygame until updated.  Thanks for that tip!   All is restored and good to go.  Thanks for the help!  K Wink

thanks, Morriganrant.   Did that, I mean install as administrator.  And I did search for anything on this box saying Securom.   And it doesn't appear to be on here.   I probably just wore out the DVD/CD drive.    This week should get it worked out.
Thanks again.  K
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 27, 22:34:14
Pescado,   Did SecuRom install itself on this system when I installed the Kitchen & Bath?  I didn't run the game from a disk, I thought the Stuff Packs were okay, since I used the nocd crack to run the game after I put the stuff pack in.   It had better not be on this system, since that was the reason for the nocd to start with.
Maybe the drive is just that old already...6 years at least.  Have the tech coming out this week and he will have to take this thing away again and make it work!    K

P.S.   Of course, back in October when my system failed big time...no USB,  bad mobo etc.   SecuRom was on there then.  Maybe it damaged the CD drive then and it is just showing up now.  Everything else is new except the DVD/CD drive.   I knew at the time I should get the new one in.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 27, 03:42:17

Tried the disk in my Vista system.  It worked fine.  So the disk isn't bad.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the drive.  No dice....
Went into regedit (fearless ain't I?)  Took out all references to K&B and Kitchen & Bath Interior etc.
No dice...
Tried a music CD....It was recognized, but said it couldn't play it.  To clean it and try again.
The second music CD I tried just said it couldn't be read.
So...even though I can write to it and read the file names and even get a few of them to download...I would have to conclude that my CD drive is borked.
Got a call into my tech..."Bring me out a new drive!"   If a  new drive should happen to fail...then I live without my K&B.
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 27, 02:42:05
I'm on XP.  Emptied the temp files folder.... Read through the articles...No upgrades show up for the CD Drive at windows update....AND I used this disk to install K&B originally.    I also was very careful to take to nocd out and re "exe" the original BV program file.     I haven't tried the disk in another computer.   I guess it would just give me a message.  I will try that.  I guess the disk could have mysteriously contracted a damage from the first install to this attempt.   The message is still "Not a valid Win32 file.   Weird.   K
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Kitchen and Bath Interior Design completely vanished! on: 2008 April 26, 18:05:24
I hate computers.     Angry
So the disk won't start.    So I uninstalled K&B....and the disk still won't start.    Computer is claiming the autorun isn't a valid 32KWin program.  What is that about?
So I can't reinstall.    Bummer!
Any further input?  Do I have to take Sims completely off to start over?    If so I may as well reformat while I am at it.    This is turning into a real crock of yuka!
I have restarted the computer a couple of times,  but whatever the problem is that isn't correcting it.    I am real tempted to just forget about the K&B all together.  $20 down the drain!. K
