Have you tried just building the house and then building up the terrain around the back of it? I don't know if this would actually work, as I've never tried it, but it seems like it should.

You have a Dell? That's your problem, right there. Wink I take it you can't even do one of those disc-scan thingies, because Windows won't even start?
53  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't Delete Some CC Types in CAS on: 2008 June 06, 02:00:12
I have this problem, as well, and only have EPs up to BV and SPs up to H&M. Alas, I have no idea what causes this or how to fix it, but I am interested in the answers, if anybody knows them.

I don't use most of the crapware that comes on Windows PCs, especially when it creates Windows errors when not even in use, as happened with my last IBM-compatible buying experience. Bundled Mac software is quite useful to me, however, as it is design-related, and I do freelance graphic and web design. Also, any given Mac OS is waaaaaaaay less buggy than any given Windows OS. That's the real reason to buy a Mac, IMO. Unless you're the OP. Then you need MOAR RAMS!
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OK so the BV glitch got me on: 2008 June 05, 20:12:54
Well, the Macs are much prettier. Wink
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OK so the BV glitch got me on: 2008 June 05, 19:57:02
Yes, but Windows machines don't come bundled with all the nifty goodies that Macs do. I don't use my computer just for gaming. The bundled programmes that are standard with a Mac would cost hundreds of dollars in upgrades on an out-of-the box IBM-compatible PC. Plus, I had already bought lots of Windows games, and didn't want to replace them all with Mac versions, which are distributed by Aspyr, which is notorious for not patching in a timely manner.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 05, 08:17:00
I just installed the very latest CEP today, and don't recall seeing a 'choose toilet stall' option. I'll try it again. Thanks!

Edit: Yep, the option-box was already ticked, but I haven't played the game since installing the new CEP. At last, I can have public toilets that aren't green. Yay!

They killed Venusy! Bastards!
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 June 05, 03:36:47
I have a very simple request. I just want the damned toilet-stall recolours from BV to work. Before BV, I already had numerous recolours that worked quite well. After BV, not so much. I'm getting really sick of decorating all of my public restrooms army-green to match the now-nonrecolourable stalls.

61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OK so the BV glitch got me on: 2008 June 05, 03:07:20
Well, considering that there is no patch available for Mac, as of yet, then this would be Aspyr's fault. Aspyr is notorious for late patching (or none at all). WinMac™ FTW!

I've been having interweb problems, as well. It's been storming here. Storms and DSL don't mix.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Official patch not working? on: 2008 May 29, 21:51:01
Don't ever patch a game or install a new EP with a no-cd crack still in. That's why your installation of Uni borked.

Is it OK to install a stuffpack with the no-CD crack of an EP installed? I really don't want to go through the hassle of changing and re-changing the .exe file just for a stuffit pack, but I will if I have to.

So, leave your original Sims2EP7.exe the way it is (don't change filename).  Patches and updates simply insist that the original start file is called "Sims2EP7.exe".

Install your no-cd crack as "Sims2EP7crack.exe".  Then point your shortcut to that file.  That way you never have to bother changing when you update.  What's in a name?  That which we call a no-cdcrack.exe will start the game as well if it were called anything else.  It would start the game if you called it "ronnie.exe".

I know how to install a no-CD crack. I have one installed at this very moment. My question was, do I have to disable the no-CD crack in order to install a stuffpack (I think my phrasing was perhaps a bit odd)? When installing a new EP or a patch, one is required to disable/remove the no-CD crack and then install a new one that matches the current configuration. I know that I won't have to install a new no-CD crack after installing a stuffpack, because I'm not doing anything to BV, but will I have to disable my no-CD crack before installing the new stuffpack, and then re-enable it afterward? I wouldn't think so, but I just want to make sure.

Edit: Nevermind. I get it now. Reading comprehension FTW!

I wish there was a mod that allowed me to set daily / weekly / quarterly payments up, where i could choose from say a percentage of the funds in the house, or set a certain amount that would need to be paid off, in 10, 20 or 30 installments.

Kind of like a loan, except I dont want the sims to recieve the simoleons first, I just need them to pay of the loan.
The rest of the mod would help with me emulating taxes, something that could help keep the amount of dough in my sims families down to a more fair level. I already have a strict policy of items only being sold at OFB businesses, and at highly elevated costs, to make sure nobody becomes filthy rich in the first generation.

Inge at Simlogical has a mortgage shrub that you can place on any residential lot, which subtracts funds from your sims' household. I've never actually used it, so I don't know exactly how it works, whether it's a percentage or a set rate that you decide upon, but it might do what you want. Monique at MTS2 has an automatic payment mod that allows one sim to pay another sim, either daily or weekly, for a set amount. I've been using it for a while, with excellent results. I have a landlord sim in each neighbourhood who gets filthy rich while the renter sims stay just above the poverty line.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Freetime Patch is out on: 2008 May 29, 16:38:55
Not only did they break a bunch of stuff, but they RE-broke a bunch of stuff. For example, pets scratching cribs/cots when in use has been a problem since Pets, and was fixed with a Pets patch. The same problem occurred with BV (and maybe Seasons too - I don't remember), so this means that they re-broke it when BV was released. And now they've broken it yet again. It's turning out to be as bad as the recurring piano borkage. It seems like EAxis is borking and re-fixing the same fucking dozen or so things with every EP. Obviously, they spend absolutely no time on R & D or QA - they just churn out the EPs and SPs in order to turn a profit, not caring if the products actually work, or not. Oh no, testing their merchandise before releasing it would make too much sense! [/rant]

Edited to fix typo.

ooh.. that's a first! I never saw one of mine here, wowsie, one of my pixies made it into the laugh-at forum! She's a bit vexed you all are making fun of her outfit, I hope she doesn't spell you. You know how faeries get when they're mad.
As for Arthelope's alien dress, hey, didn't you know.. on thier planet, that bit of fashion is all the rage! Wink

I wasn't necessarily making fun of the dresses, themselves, when I posted them. It was the wonky meshes (most of which were not made by Parsimonious) that I complained about. Parsimonious generally does a good job, even on their meshes, but the hand-swallowing is a particular peeve of mine, so I tend to NOT use outfits that are very voluminous.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 May 28, 17:23:53
The problem with installing ready-made families from the Exchange is that, if any member of the family has met any other sims from outside the family (or been gossiped to about them), then they have a memory of those outside sims and/or a relationship with them. When you install the family into a different neighbourhood, those other sims that they've met aren't there, and this can corrupt the sims' memories, as well as all kinds of other stuff, eventually leading to a BFBVFS. Don't do it. Ever.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nuke Attraction Bubbles? on: 2008 May 28, 17:13:27
I believe that Paladin at SimWardrobe has a 'no attraction reaction' type hack. Perhaps this would be of use until Pescado releases his new shiny.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Skin Problem.. HELP! on: 2008 May 26, 21:38:37
I think you're right, Sagana. I had totally forgotten about that. The only time I had a weird skin like the OP has reported, it was due to a custom skintone that wasn't Uni-compatible, and I'd placed it on a YA sim. In that case, I don't know what the OP's problem could be, except for a corrupted game-file, as somebody else has you suggested. *headdesk*
71  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! May: Clothing Meshes of the Damned on: 2008 May 26, 21:31:44
Oh, I agree that many of the Parsimonious meshes look good in-game, especially with nice textures, but the hand-swallowing could become problematic for picture-taking and such, and that's why I included those particular meshes in my post. The frond and alien dresses are just weird, though (the meshes, that is). There's a reason why Maxis dress meshes are always skin-tight.
72  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! May: Clothing Meshes of the Damned on: 2008 May 26, 21:12:15
This one came from Parsimonious, and is based on a mesh from 2-for-u. The fronds around the neckline poke through walls, as well as any sims in the vicinity.

This is also from Parsimonious, and is based on a mesh from Bipsouille. Please note the strange bending at the middle of the skirt portion of the dress.

Yet another jewel from Parsimonious. It is based on a mesh from 2-for-U. Notice how the sim's hand is swallowed by the skirt.

The following are meshes created by various people at Parsimonius. All of them manifest that hand-swallowing phenomenon, or in one case, sleeve-swallowing.

I really wish this contest included hair meshes. I have one for twiilek 'hair' that pokes through sims' boobies.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Skin Problem.. HELP! on: 2008 May 26, 18:35:09
It's probably a custom skin that is now missing because your Downloads folder has disappeared. Didn't you make a backup copy of your DL folder?
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crediting Custom Content Creators-- without knowing hardly anything. on: 2008 May 22, 01:18:08
If you use the Clean Installer to view your files, you'll often see more information about each file than just the generic filename. There's generally a description of the object, as well.
75  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Community lots crashing after minutes of arrival on: 2008 May 21, 00:33:16
Do you have TJ's old Visitor Controller installed (the hacked Lady on Red paintings)? If so, they won't work with the most recent few EPs and must be removed, or they'll cause community lots to crash.
