26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are these Pescado hacks still necessary? on: 2008 March 16, 10:32:00
Ohh lovely! I found this thread while searching the forums for the exact same reason... finding out the fate of some Awsome hacks that I had in Bon Voyage and are not in the FT directory.

In fact, I have a few more, and I haven't found anything about them -- so what's the deal with...

commstereofix.package
engagewantfix.package
norandomcrush.package
petsp0-servicecallfix.package

?
27  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seeking a learned opinion... on: 2008 March 10, 11:46:31
A related but different question: I have all the EPs and none of the SPs. I didn't install the second BV patch, and then I installed FT (forgetting all about the patch). Is it pointful/impossible/insanely dangerous to install the second BV patch now? Or is it one of those great metaphysical questions that nobody has yet managed to answer?  Smiley
28  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tippingfix mod: the tipjar vanishes in thin air on: 2007 December 07, 09:04:26
Ha! Found it again. And this does seem like a legitimate instance for necromancy...

Does anybody know if this hack plays nice with Bon Voyage? I'm starting to miss it... (I have nobuskers, but I've started sending Sims to Uni again and the amount of time they waste picking up jars is boggling...)
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anything like NoAutonomyComputerGames for BV? on: 2007 December 03, 10:13:26
Oh, yes... Forgot to specify that I'm looking for a non-awsome hack...  Smiley

(I like to give my Sims a slightly higher level of autonomy than power-idle, and usually the computer lives in the same room with stuff that I want the Sims to have access to...)
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Anything like NoAutonomyComputerGames for BV? on: 2007 December 03, 09:46:24
I am aggrieved by Sims playing computer games all the time. Especially since it's an action that takes time to start and finish, so even if I cancel it they still waste a chunk of time.

I had Inge's lovely NoAutonomyComputerGames, but that is listed as not compatible with Bon Voyage (checked again today...), so no go. Does anybody know of another hack that does the same job, but is BV-compatible?

(I know Monique's computer, but I'd rather have something that stops the autonomous behaviour on all computers, rather than having to use Monique's computers on every lot...)

TIA!
31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Unnamed Object Wants on: 2007 September 27, 08:38:44
Thank you, twistingsims -- it's good to know it's not one of those two mods.

Sounds like it's Eaxis' borkenness then. I can cope -- it just means that my Fortune sims have to suffer. Oh woez. (Evil? Me?) They will be setting up little money-themed shrines in their rooms and praying for a patch to materialize. And the other Sims will be pointing and laughing at them.
32  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Unnamed Object Wants on: 2007 September 24, 20:34:37
Oh, I notice now that there is another thread referring to this same problem here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,6142.0.html. This is from October 2006, and people got "unnamed" wants for OFB crafting benches after installing Pets. No answer is found in the thread though... but I thought I'd point it out.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Unnamed Object Wants on: 2007 September 24, 20:31:55
Me too!

The objects are different, as they are worth 2,000 and 500 asp respectively. Codes: 10098 and 10097.

This has happened today for the first time, after I installed TwoJeff's ACR and SmartBeds yesterday (current updated versions for BV -- ACR is still in testing). However, I *think* it's also the first Fortune sim I play since installing BV, so it may have nothing whatsoever to do with TwoJeffs' mods.

I'd rather not pull those mods because I'm not sure that wouldn't bork things somewhat -- so I'm going to watch this thread and see, does everybody who has the problem also have those mods installed, or not...

(Anyway, this Fortune sim is trying to set aside money, so he's not getting any "buy" wants fulfilled for a while... bwahahahah...)
34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage satisfaction on: 2007 September 15, 10:40:05
Cars now seem to only be for travelling cross-neighborhood to downtown, or for going to work, yes. The drawback being that you have to tell everyone to run to the portal (and hope you picked the right portal), or else they will TAKE FOREVER to get there.

You can cancel the "walk to lot" action and have them run to the portal after you've established which one it is. The "walk to lot" icon will regenerate in the queue and they'll leave.
35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity Clothes on: 2007 July 14, 19:35:22
Find me any maternity mesh, with 9 recolours and I can throw together a replacement set in a few minutes +testing.

Ooohhh... I think I will, soon as I get the time to look for some. And of course I can do some of the testing...

(Or if it's not too transcendental maybe I could do it myself given instructions, but if you say it would only take you a few minutes then I might just take advantage of that instead...)
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Friends and Birds on: 2007 July 13, 10:24:42
Indeed, no relationship flags are wiped at death: the dead sim does not show in the panel, but the mutual flags are recognized anyway. Friends, best friends, lovers, etc are all counted even if dead. They count for simultaneous loves, too, and the friend/best friend flag is wiped only by the regular relationship decay.
I call bug, because it causes issues in gameplay (sims with the fear of falling out of love, cheating widowers, etc.).

Yep. On several occasions, I've had the message "X and Y are no longer best friends" when Y had been dead for a while. So it appears that the relationship decays as normal after they're dead -- and until it has decayed, the dear departed is still counted as a best friend.

(Hasn't happened in a while now: it's possible that some hack I've installed stops it happening, or otherwise that it simply didn't have a chance of happening.)
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity Clothes on: 2007 July 13, 10:20:53
I prefer maternity replacements.  I change replacement sets from time to time; I've made a bunch over the years.
This is my current one: http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=238590
Ohh, that sounds like the ideal solution! Do you know where one might find more? (Either yours or by others)
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inventory box on: 2007 July 09, 09:55:27
I've tested the produce packing station. It works well. Sims can indeed unpack the box, and the fruit goes into their inventory for normal use.

For the original poster, Paladin also has a ton of shelving units, which as it happens I've just downloaded for the purpose of storing items in the basement/attic... The largest one can hold 10 separate objects. You'll find them at the link that was posted above, under Sims2 / (Objects, I think) / Furniture.
39  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Widow can't remarry on: 2007 June 30, 09:21:37
Ok, so I checked and the widow had the memory of her husband's death. I tried summoning Leod anyway, and he dutifully appeared, waved buh-buh and disappeared again with the message that he'd died on another lot. This didn't fix the problem (and at that point I didn't expect it to).

So I tried the lot debugger and there was no appropriate option. Considered coming here to whine about it, then had a brainwave and checked the FTP listing, and lo, the debugger had been updated since I'd re-downloaded it a few days back. So I re-downloaded it again, installed, went back and the option was there (I would thank Pescado but he might not appreciate it). Used the option and lo, it worked! (Leod still showing as Sophie's husband in the family tree, but the Propose-Engagement option is available -- which I assume is the intended correct behaviour.) Life in Riverrun can go on!  Smiley
40  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Widow can't remarry on: 2007 June 30, 07:53:28
Thanks for all the answers.

The widow is a Maxis creation, but it's not Denise Jacquet, it's a Sophie (probably a townie originally) who married Leod McGregor in Bluewater (and is now called McGregor herself, so I don't remember her original surname).

Her intended is a born-in-game Sim who has never been married, and I have already moved him in with her (through the Neighbourhood since he previously lived alone): the "Propose" actions weren't available before he moved in, and aren't available now. (Propose-Engagement isn't available either.)

I was quite happy to let them live in sin, but he keeps hitting on every skirt he meets (with ACR) and that's not at all what I want, so I wanted to add a "committment" flag to curb that a bit...

I will check if she has a memory of her husband dying; then I'll try the lot debugger (didn't know of this option) and/or Marhis' fix, and we'll see...

Another thing that I noticed after posting is that she didn't have a "Try for baby" action when relaxing with him on their bed now that he's moved in with her. That is even more annoying because I want more babies in that family, and I assume it's related to this. I'll try things out and report back.
41  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Widow can't remarry on: 2007 June 29, 18:38:42
I have the marriage-postmortum hack installed, and in the RTFM it says that "the surviving partner may remarry as usual". However, now I have a widow in the game and the Propose-Engagement interaction doesn't appear, either from her to her intended or vice versa (they have 100% and are in love, as well).

Any solution?
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 16:38:30
Lana, the thread about TwoJeff's adult/elder age hack has the most complete information on these values that I've been able to find, both by TJ himself and by others -- including specific discussion of Inge's hack, in fact. It's longish but worth reading.

(From memory, elders have 2 lines but there are then 4 or 5 lines further down that determine the aspiration bonus; and the very last values are for PlantSim age categories. But as I said, it's worth reading the thread, which has all the details.)
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 12:58:10
Ugh, it seems I can't edit my posts.

Anyway, looked at RetardoLand now (I usually ignore it), oh dear. Sigh.

And I meant to edit my previous post to say:

"And now it looks like the reason the forum didn't help me is because my SimPE was misbehaving -- or possibly my computer is haunted, or sunspots interfere with my brainwaves. Or I'm just caffeine-deprived. Or whatever. So forget about that...  Embarrassed"

No squingicide needed at all
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 12:27:05
See what you've done now? You're going to drive Inge to squingicide.

What's Squinge to do with this, poor thing?
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 12:21:21
You need to be in Plugin View.

Click on BCON on the left side and then Tuning on the right side.

On the bottom you will see a bunch of stuff, which will be conveniently labeled...

That's what I had done, except nothing whatsoever appeared in plugin view, so I assumed there wasn't a plugin that could handle this and/or I was doing something wrong.

Then I tried it again, and had the same result.

Then I searched for instructions; then I posted; then I read your replies and tried again, and this time it worked. I swear I didn't do anything different from the previous times. I think SarahMK has Seekrit Remote Helpdesk Powers  Cheesy

Thanks again everybody...
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 12:09:06
LOL Inge! The "not posting more than once" is simply because I don't have any of your hacks (apart from this one now)... The "uninformative" referred to that specific thread, I don't know about the rest of the forum... but I find forums hard to handle anyway, so I have a low tolerance. I didn't mean to diss  Smiley
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 June 26, 11:25:08
After reading an old thread on this forum, I've decided to try Inge's age duration hack (found here http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Aging.htm). It needs to be modified in SimPE. In a discussion thread, Inge says that once it's open in SimPE it will show 2 columns: labels and values.

I've opened the file in SimPE and the only way I can see anything at all is in the Hex editor, and it's extremely confusing. The comment about "2 columns" seems to refer to something different from the hex editor.

I've done a search and while I found out that some people here use this hack, I haven't found specific instructions: could anybody tell me how I should go about modifying it?

Many thanks in advance.

Note: I didn't ask on Inge's forums because (a) I don't want to have to create Yet Another Login that I will probably never use again after this; (b) The thread in Inge's forum has been there for a long time but it is not very informative; (c) People here are very helpful and knowledgeable; (d) There is no "d"; (e) I like it here  Wink
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Third Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 25, 16:38:42
*sigh*
Ok, has anyone successfully bred kittens/puppies since this patch? India's attempts at zombie outreach have been curtailed because the zombies aren't as drawn to dogs as they are to puppies, and try as I might...no chimes. I've tried 12 times now, different parent combos, and nada. It could be sadorandomness, but it's a bit coincidental.

I have the latest (3rd) Seasons patch installed, and I've bred dogs not once but twice. Well, the puppies aren't born yet, but both times I got the chimes.

Note that I have installed Monique's hack for breeding animals who aren't friends, but I don't think it affects breeding success once the dogs retire to the privacy of the doghouse, only the initial "shall we?" interaction  Smiley (But you never know, I haven't actually looked at the code.)
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Creating a Custom Name List on: 2007 June 12, 20:43:29
I was unaware that there would be a need for different male and female last names.  Is this just my anglocentricism showing through, or is there much need for different surnames by sex?

The one that springs to my mind is Russian. Ulanov/Ulanova, and so on. Statistically, there must be other languages that do the same...
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second Seasons Patch is out.... on: 2007 June 12, 15:53:09
I installed the patch with no problems but now my userstartup cheats file doesn't seem to be working. Anyone else have this issue?

Mine works -- both the "defaults" section (like boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true, boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true, etc.) and the alias section (like alias snap "boolProp snapObjectsToGrid"). No idea what your problem could be, sorry, just giving my data point...
