51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Screening maternitywear? on: 2006 December 31, 18:44:51
notveryawesome, I have the squinge mod that states specifically that it does include everyday.  I haven't had any conflicts with the awesomeness, yet.

miros, I'll get back to you.  I'm going to create a test hood and just go nuts.  So far the most reliable of the daytime clothes has been the exercise gear.  It always shows the bump...
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Screening maternitywear? on: 2006 December 30, 05:27:53
Is there any easy way to discover which clothing items work with the various "wear any outfit while pregnant" mods?  I have been buying stuff via the clothingtool to see which show the bump and which don't, but my poor simmies are going to go broke - and have a *seriously* bloated dresser - if I continue with this method.  CAS and Bodyshop aren't much help either, but I don't know if there is any way to load a preggy mannequin in Bodyshop, since I don't use it much...

Any suggestions?

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I'll have to do that!  Maybe some casual woohoo is the cure for her...  I had her two obnoxious teens move out just as soon as dad split because all they did is mope and cry.  She never did teach Angela to study because they'd piss each other off just being in each other's vicinity.

Hmmm...  Maybe it's time to create a Rudy Valentino for the Sims 2.   Cheesy

I find nopetobsession really helps, and have you also tried rerolling their wants with the lot debugger?

I have the latest version of nopetobsession, and it doesn't seem to help with my game.  My downloads are few, and I have only a couple of non-awesome mods (breastfeeding, longerburningfires, and noquitemployees).  I just want to murder Mary-Sue Pleasant because I don't WANT her to have twenty cats now that she's kicked Daniel to the curb...

I get stuck like this with certain sims.  They can be any aspiration, and roll up endless strings of "get a puppy" AND "get a kitten" AND "get a puppy/kitten" AND "play with some stupid stray I've only seen once" etcetera, etcetera...

What about self-pregnancies via Tombstone?  Do they muck up stuff as well?  Or is it worse if it's a sib?

Thanks everyone for some very informative and well-reasoned answers.  Grin
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Antivirus Programs on: 2006 December 21, 13:48:05
At the risk of being burninated for being an ignorant fuckwit, I'm going to ask a question that is weighing heavily on my mind lately...

What antivirus programs are the best?  I have used Norton for years at the recommendation of a good friend.  S'ok.  But it's getting more and more expensive, and it's bugging me that I can't shut it down from task manager.  (I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and have Roadrunner internet access if that info has any bearing on anything.)

I tried McAfee and loathed it.  When I try to research antivirus programs online, all I seem to call up is tons of propaganda from each company, and people bitching randomly about whichever one they just uninstalled.  Hard to judge by that.

Thanks, miros (and Jordi)!  I just don't use SimPE for much of anything, so I had most of the options hidden/closed...  working now!
61  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: More hidden music in Pets on: 2006 December 20, 04:30:21
How hard can extracting be?
1. Open SimPE for Pets.
2. Click the Open button.
3. Browse to the package (path given earlier in thread. Use "Open in Pets" if you don't know where your Pets is  Roll Eyes).
4. Right-click the "mp3 or xa Sound file" resource(s)
5. Choose extract.
6. Choose path.

Hardly rocket science…

Apparently, I am an idiot.  I can get SimPE as far as #4, but when I try to right-click, no menu pops up.  So I can't choose extract, or any other option, as there aren't any options.  I DID reinstall SimPE to see if that could have been the problem, but it wasn't.

I can find the "mp3 or xa Sound file" listing ok, but that's as far as I can go.  Crap.  I would have loved to put these on my mp3 player to confound my co-workers.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crammyboy for females? on: 2006 December 17, 12:32:35
Ah.  Hadn't thought of that.  When I was using them, I hadn't yet removed the blur, so I never noticed the effect.

I got onto Paradise Sims ok.  http://www.paradisesims.com/  Their default nudes are what I'm using right now.

There are also these from Mermaid Cove:

64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Neighborhood without Subhoods on: 2006 December 17, 12:02:40
See, I knew that moving sims from main 'hood to main 'hood (like Pleasantview to Veronaville) was bad, but I didn't know that the effect was the same moving them from a subhood to the main one (like Pleasantview's Bluewater to the main Pleasantview).

Crap.  Good thing I asked.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Neighborhood without Subhoods on: 2006 December 17, 06:16:03
I am restarting a Pleasantview, and would like to have all the residences and select businesses in the main 'hood.  I want all of the premade families, too.  Which would be the proper way to do this?

I currently have an unplayed Pleasantview with all the subhoods added.  Do I:

* Package up all the businesses and occupied houses in Bluewater Village, kill the whole neighborhood, and install the packages in a fresh Pleasantview without a shopping district added?

* Add a Bluewater to my newly installed Pleasantview, shove everything in the shopping district into the houses and lots bin and move them over to the main 'hood?

If I generate a downtown and a shopping district, move what I want over to the main 'hood, can I then delete the two subhoods without losing sims?  Do downtownies (like the Master Vampire) have to live downtown, or are they in the game once they are created, even if you delete the downtown?

Can you even delete a subhood once it is created?  My brain hurts.
66  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: I fixed the clipping on one of Rose's pay meshes... would anyone like it? on: 2006 December 16, 05:59:23
*blinks*  She charges money for stuff that is that graphically inferior?

That takes balls.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Satisfying baby want on: 2006 December 12, 01:34:00
Speaking of memories and parentage, etc, just last night I had a couple get married with all ten of their kids present. These people have always lived together since the first time the mom was pregnant, and have been engaged for "years."

But when they tied the knot, all the kids got the "Father joined the family!" memory. WTF? That's so dumb.

Yeah, I got a version of that when I started playing the Caliente household.  Dina (who had been married, for cripe's sake!) succumbed to Don Lothario and got the "had very first woohoo" memory because of the encounter.  Nina, who was already sleeping with Don, also got a "had very first woohoo" memory when she hopped into bed with him.  Very annoying.  Now I have to figure out how to safely change memories in SimPE...  Heh.

Thank you for doing this! *baaaaaahhh*

I have the base game + everything installed and it's working great!

Thank you, Morague.  Smiley
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More Maxis "Morality" on: 2006 November 21, 12:24:50
At the risk of offering myself up for further ridicule, I did a survey of my downloads folder...

Clothes (no meshes) 23 MB
Genetics (no meshes) 2 MB
Hacks 2 MB
Makeup 400 KB
New Mesh Objects 1 MB
Object Recolors (no meshes) 78 MB
Walls & Floors 4.5 MB

Total 111 MB

Experience has told me that anything much larger causes my game to lag and freeze.  I'm hoping to get a new graphics card for Christmas, and try to keep my software and drivers updated.

I'm grateful for what I have, though.  After my last 'puter died, I was out of luck for a while. *shivers thinking of the withdrawal symptoms*
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Everybody loves Lilith! on: 2006 November 17, 12:17:57
Thanks for the info, Gali, but I'm even meaner than you.  My sims aren't allowed a handheld or an mp3 player, because it annoys me when they just stand there and amuse themselves.  I want them to amuse me by colliding haplessly with their environment.  Tongue

And thanks for confirming that this is normalesque, Pescado.  I was skeered that I was headed for a BFBVFS...
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Everybody loves Lilith! on: 2006 November 17, 05:04:53
I moved Lilith and Angela back in with their elderly mom Mary-Sue after they graduated from college.  Dustin and Dirk came with them.  Unfortunately, both Dirk AND Dustin seem to be crushing on Lilith.  Who is NOT a romance sim.  Angela is being totally ignored by her fiance, who is following Lil around like a puppy.

I thought it was just Angela's shitty attitude about her sister coming back to haunt her.  Karma, right?  But now I've noticed something disturbing.  When Lilith walks through a room, Dirk and Dustin's thought bubbles hold her face and cascade hearts.  But so does Ang and Lil's prepubescent brother (Mary-Sue's self-spawn kid)!  And now Angela's crushing on her twin sister!  Who she's furious with!

So Lilith appears with cascading hearts in the thought bubbles of
1. Dustin (her fiance)
2. Dirk (her ex-boyfriend, who she no longer has any bolts or hearts with)
3. Her child brother Bruno
4. Her twin sister Angela (who LOATHES her!)

I have no unawesome hacks except for ChristianLov's pet teleporter and pet behaviour modder.  My install is fresh since getting Pets.  But something is going on here...
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More Maxis "Morality" on: 2006 November 16, 19:38:15
Logically, I can't see how the game would differentiate between potential wedding wear and normal formalwear.  But this game can be just plain strange.

Uh...it doesn't. As of OFB formal wear and wedding wear are one and the same. Before they get married you have to plan formal wear to a wedding dress of your choosing. And Squinge has a hack that allows your pregnant sims to wear their normal planned outfits. You don't have to hack anything. Just d/l this: http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=7238

*sigh*  Yes, I know.  I DO realize that I was being paranoid delusional about my game not allowing preg sims to wear white dresses.  It was merely a coincidence.  I concede, already.

And perhaps I should have corrected my grammar and said that I it wasn't important enough to me to use a hack - either Squinge's or anyone else's - because I try to limit the size of my download folder.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More Maxis "Morality" on: 2006 November 16, 16:07:41
Well, I guess my paranoid delusion has been pretty much busted.  It just irks me that I can never get decent wedding pics. *grimaces*  I have no patience with Maxis maternity clothes, but it's not really important enough to me to hack it.  My computer is wimpy.

Logically, I can't see how the game would differentiate between potential wedding wear and normal formalwear.  But this game can be just plain strange.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More Maxis "Morality" on: 2006 November 15, 12:45:46
All of them?  It wasn't even the "real" wedding dress with the gloves, it was just a whitish one.  I don't often use the "real" wedding dress, but I do like light colored ones for weddings.

Silly of them, I think.  Lots of people irl get married after the woman gets knocked up.  And they DO parade down the aisle eight months pregnant in a big fluffy white dress...
