26  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Life Stories - Get the Stuffeths here! on: 2007 April 03, 12:44:42
*snip* So, after several frustrating hours yesterday, I threw up my hands and admitted defeat.  I was toying with the idea of uninstalling Seasons and trying the tutorial again on my next day off, but I don't think I'm quite THAT desperate.

Same here, the Lots would not open importet from LS to Seasons.
But now i have them convertet yesterday in OfB and now they work fine even with Seasons. Should i pack them with  wallpapers and floors applied ? Or is it better downloaders do this themselfes.

I know that I would prefer them with the floors/walls applied, but would be insanely grateful just to get them. *farts hearts at Havelock*

I would LOVE for someone to package the houses and (especially) the businesses.  I had a day off yesterday, finished the scenarios in SLS *yawn*, and prepared to transport the neighborhoods to TS2 so that I could package all the lots for other neighborhoods.

Wouldn't load.  Kept crashing.  I printed the instructions so that I was sure I was following them precisely.  Nope.  Soooo... I reinstalled SLS, plopped the COMPLETED neighborhoods I  had archived back in so that I could take screencaps of the businesses at least, or draw floorplans, or something...

Only to find that Vince's neighborhood was locked again, and I couldn't get back in without replaying Riley's Story.

Hell no.

...waits for someone to come up with an even simpler solution.  Stamping your foot and waving at the computer would be good  Grin

Hmmm... If that would solve all my sims-related problems I would be all set.  Stomping my foot and shaking my fist at the 'puter is my default setting, so I would have discovered this loooong ago. *heh*
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lord of the Pack? on: 2007 March 06, 08:55:21
I've only noticed one wolf with the glowy eyes per hood; maybe your game has generated more.  For me it's always the same one.  When he visits during the day, his eyes don't glow, though.  I've never enticed him to nibble during the day, so I don't know if it can be done.

You're welcome. Smiley
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lord of the Pack? on: 2007 March 06, 08:42:50
They aren't named "Lord of the Pack", and actually use the same name list as pets.  In MY game, they are usually named the most inane and/or "froufy" names on the list.  (In one hood, I have a tiny little white lapdog stray called "Alpha" and the LOTP is named "Fido".  Go figure.)

The way that you can tell they are the LOTP is the glowing eyes after dark.  The ones whose eyes glow are the ones who can "nibble" and make you a were.

31  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Weird Blueness in Seasons on: 2007 March 04, 11:14:55
Sounds like a texture problem... Are you running in a window? If so, try fullscreen and see if that helps.

Nah, I'm running it in fullscreen mode.  (Window mode leaves me vaguely nauseous for some reason.  That was one of my primary gripes about SLS...)

EDIT: The wierd blueness seems to be connected to the night time view of Downtown.  If I switch it to daytime, the blueness disappears.  So my neighborhood view seems to be screwed up.  Hope it's not a BFBVFS in the making.  I don't have enough $$ for a computer upgrade.
32  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Weird Blueness in Seasons on: 2007 March 04, 10:03:06
It could very well be my graphics card, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

When I load neighborhoods with Seasons installed, some of them are partially flooded.  Veronaville has sprouted a second canal, and the shoreline businesses in Bluewater are underwater.  The water is higher and blocky and sometimes changes radically whenever the view is rotated

IN ADDITION, When I added a downtown, all the roads and terrain decorations are overlayed with a dark blue color.  It's dark, but transparent, so you can faintly see the tree details and the cars zooming around on the roads.  This effect occurred with several different Downtowns, but not with any Unis or Shopping Districts.

I have reinstalled, put hacks in, taken them out, etc.  No difference.

Eh?

34  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / A Very Simple Question on: 2007 February 25, 12:45:29
I am contemplating a new neighborhood.  I want to drop selected Maxis-made characters into this new environment.  I know perfectly well how to adjust their interests and personalities to match the original characters, but not how to recreate their appearances.  From searching the forums, I know that I need to clone a sim so that he shows up in CAS, but I have no idea of how to do this.

Something so (apparently) simple, yet I am clueless.  Anybody?
35  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Life Stories - Get the Stuffeths here! on: 2007 February 25, 12:20:09
Thanks for this.  I'm excited at the prospect of more walls, too!  I'll keep checking back.
36  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repositioning Occupied Lots on: 2007 February 19, 10:22:20
However, I have noticed a tiny problem when moving any lot around.  If the ground level is different, even by a little, there will be an aqua line at the lot boundary.  This isn't a problem when all your lots are perfectly level, but most of my neighborhood terrain has gradual terrain changes.    And I hate that button that makes your lots level.  In most cases, it makes my lots look like Scrabble tiles.

My neighborhood view looks like hell because of my graphics card, so it doesn't bother me.  But I can imagine it to be a nuisance to others...
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Casual Romance Issue on: 2007 January 30, 11:38:07
If you're not getting the casual options, it may be because one of the sims in question doesn't have a token.  Check under the "tokens" option and see if there is an option to add a token to a sim.  Otherwise, in my game at least, all sims with more than a minimal/negative relationship score will have casual options.
38  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: reformatting on: 2007 January 30, 11:33:35
I'm confident about everything except the secondary dvd drive.  He just couldn't explain to me exactly what he did to my computer and why...

It seems like a fairly straightforward procedure, and I have all my installation discs in order.
39  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Insane loading time on: 2007 January 30, 11:29:22
Use SimPE's Abadoned Mesh Tool to help search for meshes you have no textures for. Deleting hairs, clothes, and objects in game or in bodyshop do NOT delete the mesh as well. So you probably have a butt load of those just hanging around.

Ack!  I did not know that SimPE could do that.  Could you tell me where I might find that option?  I can wander around in SimPE for hours, getting nothing much accomplished...  Not an intuitive tool.
40  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / reformatting on: 2007 January 29, 10:27:55
I'm planning to reformat my computer for the first time, and I have a fairly detailed set of instructions.  However, I had a friend install a dvd drive several months ago, and I'm wondering if I'm going to have problems.  He set it up to be the "master" of my original drive, and he said he had to fiddle quite a bit to get it working correctly.  (He's also unavailable for "tech support" right now...)

Am I going to reformat my 'puter, only to have my main drive FUBAR'ed?  Nothing else on the machine has been altered except software, but I'm still askeered.
41  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: #@*$$@%#!!! Stupid portable hard drive on: 2007 January 13, 15:49:45
<whine>But it was less than a year old...  I feel like such an ass for buying this $120 thing that was essentially disposable.</whine>

Is there any way to make them last longer?  Should I just burn everything onto disc and access it from there?  (Can't install more memory into the 'puter because I just can't  Undecided )  I don't want to go back to wielding a huge binder of cd-roms, but I'll do what I have to.  What a colossal PITA.

Errr...  Pescado, what do you mean by RAID?  Another acronym?
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / #@*$$@%#!!! Stupid portable hard drive on: 2007 January 12, 21:11:29
I have two Seagate portable hard drives - one is 160GB, the other is 80GB.  I didn't know any better and defragmented one of them, so I expected that it's screwed up...

But the other has just puked on me.  It shows up under My Computer, I just can't access it.  Occasionally it makes a high-pitched bleep.  Last night it took an *age* to transfer files onto it, but I thought it might just be because it was getting full.

I've never been sure exactly how to treat these.  I know not to defrag them, but I assumed it's ok to do a disc cleanup on them.  What the hell did I do wrong and how can I fix it?

With her pigtails neatly laid to either side.

(The videos, which we were shown in high school, did not disturb me in the least.  It's the illustrations that are freaking me out.  Kids should be taught this stuff.)

Holy crap!

Trust it to the Germans to get right to the point.

Why do those people have no noses?  Leprosy?

edit:  Syberspunk, I guess you and I had the exact same reaction at the same time...  *hee*
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: business blockade on: 2007 January 09, 17:33:24
Bathroom Uses You takes care of the bathroom sims, as it ejects any sims not currently USING the facilities.

As for those who mill at the front desk, try putting a video game or pinball machine near the back/middle of the lot.  For some reason the sims on my comm lots seem more attracted to them than any other object.  It keeps them out of the way, and they don't seem to get as pissed off as the sims waiting to use the dance orb.  Of course, then they'll obsess on those objects for hours and hours.  But it keeps them out of the way.
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what exactly triggers a reporter visit? on: 2007 January 04, 12:25:17
I've been having a problem getting a reporter, too.  There is an option on the BRU to spawn one, but I couldn't find one even after I did that.  I have a level seven business that has never had a reporter visit.  (I only play one or two businesses at a time, because it's too much like RL otherwise.  I work in retail.  Yay.)
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Removing unwanted software on: 2007 January 04, 03:25:33
I got rid of a whole bunch of stuff like that.  Didn't use it, didn't want it.  Was told that it was just a part of Windows, and if I didn't want to use it, just IGNORE it.

I wish I hadn't done it.  Everything still works, but when I use my software management program, it has wierd holes and invalid stuff where the Windows stuff had been.  Bugs me worse than the actual unused stuff did.  Sigh.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Screening maternitywear? on: 2007 January 01, 13:26:31
I don't use Squinge's pregnancy clothing mod, but I do have a pregnancy replacement package. It uses Cassandra's dress and the NL vampire dress, so those are both pregnancy morphed as well.

*frowns*  I thought I tested those, but they didn't work for me.  Next time I go in, I will test 'em again.

I wish I knew enough about skinning to just make my own maternity clothes...
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Screening maternitywear? on: 2006 December 31, 22:56:08
*grin* YW!

Happy New Year, everybody!  Hopefully this year will be an improvement over last...  (We're having shrimp marinated in garlic, ginger and balsemic vinegar in a couple hours, then going to bed early.  I feel so old.)
50  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Screening maternitywear? on: 2006 December 31, 20:45:36
Well, I did a test.  Of the Maxis clothes, there were a few things with a pregnancy mesh.

TOPS
v-neck and scoop neck sweaters with three-quarter length sleeves
v-neck tees with lace on the shoulders
raglan tees
strapless top
button down shirts with rolled-up sleeves (the second set, not the first)

These are a moot point, though, since no Maxis pants have the pregnancy mesh.

OUTFITS
sundress (the kind Angela Pleasant begins the game in)

FORMAL
halter dress with striped skirt
gypsy dress with layered skirt

It also works with all nightwear except the slob pjs, the silk pjs, and the longer nightgown.  It works with all the athleticwear except the ones that I recategorized from everyday.
