Baaaaaaahh!!!

(I've been anticipating these.  I've decided that a freak storm has decimated Pleasantview, and several cloned families are moving to Hurricane Country...)

@zazazu - Believe it was Insim...  I was asleep last night while I was playtesting.  Undecided  Lately I've had to work long past the point at which I go to sleep.  Then I get home and I can't fall unconscious for at least an hour.  But my brain is 95% asleep.  It's kinda odd.

Not particularly.  Old versions of Insim loaded in a BV game have a known tendency to disable, disallow, and other words beginning with "disa-" the beach related activities without generating error messages.

The new updated version of Insim does not seem (should I add "in my so far magically problem free game"?) to cause difficulties.

*hee*  I meant that it was kinda odd that I can be asleep and still *do* stuff.  The fact that an outdated mod causes problems doesn't seem wierd to me at all.  Especially since BV seems to have changed a lot of stuff around.

Well, I went through my downloads folder with a fine-toothed comb.  The awesome hacks I just install all at once, but I have BaseGame+NL installed in my slower computer and one of my other hacks was the NL-only version from my other setup.  How did that get in there?

So I downloaded the newest version of the hack and Werewolf Dad loped out of the back door, galumphed down the sand, and stepped daintily into the water for a swim.

I am still mystified why it was only that ONE sim, and not anyone else in the neighborhood.  But I seem to be back on track.

5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim can't reach the beach... on: 2007 October 05, 04:22:13
If I tell him manually to "go", he reaches a certain point, where the sandy beach meets the grass (in his backyard, he has a beach lot) and he stops, jitters a bit, gets a routing thought bubble (Can't get there, moronic goddess person!) and goes to do something else.  I can teleport him to the beach and tell him to dig or build or sunbathe  or whatever, but he can't get back up to the house, and he can't go into the water.

I have only a few hacks, and only a few are unawesome.  I had the new insim, but took it out.

I have tried unflagging his teleport token and taking his memory in my QA version of SimPE, but that didn't work.

Macrotastics comes up in his queue, he stops, jitters, and it disappears.

For the record, I have all the EP's and the GL, FF, and Celebrations SP's.

I originally posted this in the sandcastle hack thread, but thought I'd also put it here.

I have a house with 3 adults, 1 child.  Everyone can get to the beach except Dad.  He was a werewolf, and I thought he might have something stupid like hydrophobia, so I cured him of lycanthropy.  Nope.  I tried leveling the bumps to the beach.  No.  I tried forcing an error on him.  Not that, either.  Everyone else has no problems at all.

It may be significant that he is the only one that learned how to teleport while he was on his honeymoon.  *shrugs*  I feel kinda bad for him.  He used to swim and beach comb a lot.  The icon comes up, and he sometimes can walk a bit, then it seems like a fence is blocking him.  I've tried manually routing him, but that doesn't work.

UPDATE:  I tried nuking and fixing every damn thing on the lot via the lot debugger.  No go.  I also noticed that he wiggles a bit as he reaches his "limit"  (about where the grass lawn begins turning into sand).  Then the icon disappears and he turns to go do something else.

8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Life Stories Restart on: 2007 June 25, 16:07:56
I played Life Stories when it first came out, then removed it from my computer when I was done tinkering.  I have since bought the nicest laptop I could afford.  When I tried to install the Sims, it told me that it wasn't compatible with @*%$# Vista.  But LS will run on it.  (I LOATHE Vista, btw.  I wish I had the know-how to wipe the computer and find a copy of XP to stick on there...)

Soooo...  Is there any way to trick LS into thinking I've completed the two scenarios without actually having to do them again?

Try here:

There should be some directions here.  It took me a while to figure it out, though.  Once I did, it was easy.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The eternal search... on: 2007 May 17, 14:02:31
I use Spookymuffin's wonderful defaults.  There are all Maxis skintones, plus chocolate, bronze, and extra dark.  There are zombie, alien and werewolf default replacements, as well.  They all have nipples and pubes, thank God.  I have the blur disabled because it pixellates them from head to knee, and that just bugs me.  Barbie bodies are vaguely disturbing.

I'm really hoping that she does a plantsim replacement!
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sc4 templates - i can has? on: 2007 May 17, 13:38:04
I use DinkyLots, too.  EasyQuad has a pretty straightforward grid.  And the little bit of variation in the grid allows a bit of flexibility for a slightly bigger park or business.  If you think about it, most cities have a few odd street or larger block.

Here is a link to the nude clothes I use:

http://www.paradisesims.com/

It's on the "nudes" page toward the bottom.  I didn't link directly to the page because of the legal stuff.

Ahhh, success.  Followed the same copied set of directions, but this time it worked perfectly.  Don't know what I mucked up, but it must have been something.  Sad
14  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 May 04, 02:29:30
Back from work now.  Doublechecked.  Yup, the right one is renamed.

*sigh* Other things aren't working now.  Time to start over again.
15  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 May 03, 21:24:47
Thanks for the quick reply, Jordi.  I'm ripping my hair out right now.

Actually, I do have antiredundancy, and I even checked to make sure that custom content is enabled properly.  It is.

I renamed N001 to ".bak"  When that didn't seem to work, I zipped it altogether.  That also didn't work.
16  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 May 03, 19:14:00
I followed this tutorial scrupulously after doing a clean install, and still got all the original Pleasantview townies and 3 of every damn NPC...
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Terrain Paint Tool on: 2007 May 02, 16:17:23
*shrugs*  Since this seems not-uncommon, I'm not gonna worry about it.  I don't mind it's absence, I was just worried about a possible asplosion.  Smiley
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Terrain Paint Tool on: 2007 May 02, 03:55:08
Yes, I have Seasons.  I *think* my feeble video card just can't handle the cc that I added this week.  I try so hard not to shop, but I caved in and aquired an object with a custom animation.  (It's very naughty, too, but not at all Awesome, I'm sad to admit.  Although the Hack Conflict Utility says it's acceptable.))

My computer can't handle the snow tool, either.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Terrain Paint Tool on: 2007 April 30, 14:27:32
I just noticed that my terrain paint tool isn't showing up.  I can click on any of the radius sizes and USE the tool, but the little white circle/arrow thingy doesn't appear.  So I have to kinda work blind as I slop the stuff on.

Sign of an impending BFBVFS?
20  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Apr "More Awful Than You" CC Treasure Hunt: Whore Clothes on: 2007 April 22, 17:14:39
TaWanda, thanks for the link.

Parsimonious has some great stuff, but my sims aren't quite that flamboyent. *grin*
21  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Apr "More Awful Than You" CC Treasure Hunt: Whore Clothes on: 2007 April 21, 16:42:03
This thread is the sole source of humor in my life at the moment.  You guys have found some amazing stuff.  Nothing I could dredge up even compares in "quality".

It has, in some bizarre way, whetted my appetite for the grossly inappropriate.  Anybody know where I can find a well-made set of cut-off shorts with the buttcheeks hanging out?  I'm in the mood to torture Brandy Broke...
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Empty dialog boxes on: 2007 April 20, 12:33:46
Thanks, that fixed my problem.  Unfortunately, another has popped up.  Will this madness ever end?  *sigh*
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Empty dialog boxes on: 2007 April 17, 04:00:18
I recently did a reinstall, and patched Seasons.  The first time the rep from the Garden Club came over, a dialog box with her face appeared, but the box was empty.  All other pop-up boxes, such as "Ginger has gained 1 skill point from reading" and "the sprog has school in 1 hour" appear correctly, though.

I was so freaked out I exited without saving. *headdesk*  I should have greeted her and seen what happened...

I'm tempted to just re-install again and see if that helps.  The only garden hack I have is "perfect plants" (not "perfect gardens") and there were no flowers on the lot, just 4 baby tomatoes and a pine tree.

Well, thank you anyways, Rainbow Tigress, for the info.  (And many thanks to SaraMK as well, if she's reading this thread...)

I wish that I had more time (and money) to spend on this game.  I'm grateful for the people with the expertise AND for the people who are able to point me in the right direction without pointing out what a moron I am.

(The more I learn, the less I know.)

EDIT: Errrr... could somebody give me a link to aforementioned lots?  I can't seem to find them.  *hangs head*
