26  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Decustomized and Updated Maxis Official Objects/Clothing (Updated 2008-04-22 on: 2008 April 22, 18:57:43
Thanks a lot for updating those objects. I have a little problem, though. I very stupidly downloaded and installed some of those objects as bundles, that had to be put somewhere in the gamefiles. I think I got those files from the peasantry as well.

Stupid me just canīt remember wherever I put those files and they must be overriding yours I put in the Download folder, as my GLS TV does not display the FT options.

I know this is not really related and very much my own fault, but I would really appreciate it, if someone has an idea, where one would have put those bundles in the game files, so that I can remove them. Feel free to just point and laugh as well.

Wow, that was fast. Pushing the thanks button now.  Cheesy
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Does anyone still have the FT patch? on: 2008 April 17, 17:31:52
I just got freetime and should be able to patch without problems, as I havenīt created clothes, obviously. Unfortunately the patch is no longer available and I canīt find the critical fixes for the aspiration confusion. I guess they got taken down, because the patch provides a fix.

Maybe I am just blind and the fix is still here somewhere, but if it isnīt did someone save the patch and is willing to share it with me?
29  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Object error from batch creating dormies in FT :( on: 2008 April 14, 23:57:33
I got an error when trying to create dormies as well. I have nothing after seasons and townies could be created without a problem.

Seems like batch creating dormies is just borked. However it is possible to create YAs in the YACas and turn them into dormies on a residential unilot with the teleporter shrub. I populated my uni that way.

Itīs not that time consuming as you can create 8 dormies at once and you can tweak anything if the clothes or hair option are too horrible. Itīs also a big plus that everyone can have a different last name, as only the YACas is used.

31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasonal Age Project: RFC (Request For Comments) on: 2008 April 07, 21:04:12
I have a neighbourhood in which every season lasts three days and I feel that the seasons are still very much there to experience. I adjust the season length with the weather controller. When the season changes, I immediately select for it to only last three days.
I play it pretending each day lasts a month instead of a year. Started this, because I had a couple I really didnīt want to reach elderhood. Everyone around them did, though and it started to feel strange.

I tried playing with a day being a week in realtime, but it was way too slow for me. I freeze the pregnancy with insim, so every stage will last three days. Everything is in sync and I love it. The long pregnancy really bothered me, because siblings were always too far apart. The toddler stage still is kind of annoying. Especially as my toddlers always start to run out of wants. After about 20 or 30 days toddlerhood, they start forgetting, who their parents are and only have wants for skills. The fourth slot is usually blank. Also taking care of toddlers gets really repetitive, as there is so little they can do.

I wouldnīt want to adjust the length permanently, as I donīt play my other hoods like that. Sometimes I want things to happen faster. If I play with normal time, I just let sims be pregnant only for a day. As the uberlong gestation period really is very annoying.

Did anyone else who is playing with very long lifestages have problems with the toddler wants?
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Replacing Sidewalk tiles on: 2008 April 05, 05:24:54
Thatīs strange, that the tutorial is gone.

Anyway you just had to replace a line in the game files. Make sure to make a backup before you do this.

C:\ Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Scripts and open the file called floorPatterns.txt. I donīt remember what you had to change, but I am adding my floorPatterns.txt so you can just replace yours.

This will enable the sidewalk tile to show up with the selectable floor tiles. If you want to add street parking on a lot just delete the sidewalk tile on the edge of the lot on the other side on the street. You have to have moveobjects on to do this. Until you replace the sidewalk the driveway and extensions will be turned by 90 degrees.
33  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Buymode Gone? Fixed on: 2008 April 04, 21:14:55
That started happening in my game lately as well.

At least I think it did. What I am experiencing is when I open buymode the sorting by function tab is empty. I can still choose the tab that sorts by room and everything is there.

The problem resolves itself after sometime. I thought it was some weird glitch. I didnīt update the game in any way since seasons.

I can also force the tab to come back when I use that eyedropper tool, or whatever it is called. The thing which selects the exact object in the catalog, that you clicked on.

35  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have a quiet, happy baby in Seasons on: 2007 March 26, 20:26:07
No cry babies fixes obnoxious nice & shy sim crying in irrelevant situations.

Yes, I realised that when I finally read the manual, after reading about the bug here and wondering why it was still an issue. Anyway I am still glad to have it, as the constant crying of mean grumpy adults was very out of character and I didnīt even know there was a fix for it.
36  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Help! I broke the shadow render or something... on: 2007 March 26, 19:33:12
I had this happen with the Pleasantīs house from the merged neighbourhood I downloaded. I first thought, I had somehow screwed up my lightning, too, but my other neighbourhoods and the other houses in the merged neighbourhood still worked fine. So I assumed it was just a glitch. I didnīt check back in the Pleasantīs house yet, so I donīt know if it has resolved itself.

If youīre finding a cause for this please share. I didnīt add any costum content to that Pleasant house. So all the objects, walls etc. were Maxis.
37  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I have a quiet, happy baby in Seasons on: 2007 March 26, 19:26:32
I have had plenty of babies in seasons, all of which never ever cried if their diaper wasnīt full. I installed all of Pescadoīs seasons hacks dumply without looking at the manuals of every hack and had just assumed nocrybabies was a fix for that issue.

I just now RTFM and realised this is not at all the case. By now I have put back in squingeīs breastfeeding hack, which would stop this behaviour if it is caused by low social, as breastfeeding increases social. Maybe bathing does, too? At least it does so for toddlers. I hardly ever bath my babies.

However I had a babies, when I played the Riverblossom Hood without any hacks, but Pescadoīs and they didnīt cry either. And the Ottomas twins were hardly ever cuddled. Does this bug not appear in every game?
38  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: New Pets Patch on: 2007 March 24, 17:46:05
I donīt really understand the way patching works. If patching an older expansion pack has no effect, how can these bugs be fixed in my game?

When a seasons patch comes out, will these fixes be included? Some are really pets related, like the birds and womrats fixes. How can these be included in seasons patch? I mean people can have seasons and not have pets. I donīt really understand how the code for birds and womrats can be included in seasons?
39  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hair today, gone tomorrow on: 2007 March 22, 11:22:05
Thank you! That is really good to know. Iīm glad I didnīt delete them. I really like the way the genetics work in the game and didnīt want to use messed up sims anymore.
40  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hair today, gone tomorrow on: 2007 March 21, 23:52:23
I have this happen a lot, too. Iīve not used any of those sims, because I was worried, that even I could fix their appearances in CAS, their genetics might still be borked. Mainly because when I select new hair in CAS, the maxis eyebrows wonīt show up automatically.

Does anyone know, if fixing them in CAS will also fix their genetics?
41  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Question about number of character files on: 2007 March 20, 02:28:57
Thank you angelyne! I should have done a search. I actually had read this thread, but forget about it again.

Myros: I did try again and the same thing happened. Only this time I got only about 50 more character files on top of the 150. It seems to be connected with the empty template, though. The pet adoption agency in the Riverblossom Hills, which I let create all the seasons and pets characters worked fine. I guess Iīll use the backup.
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Question about number of character files on: 2007 March 19, 21:37:42
I have a question about the character count. I hope this is the right place to ask. I use all the clean templates and am forever grateful for them, because playing the same sims over and over in every neighbourhood sure gets boring. I donīt have installed the empty Pleasentview, but renamed the N001 template to N001-bak.
I also have all of Pescadoīs no respawn hacks, meaning: no stray respawn, no townie regen, antiredundancy, no ssrespawn, no dormieregen. I hope I didnīt miss any. I have all eps and the first holiday pack.

Now, I created a new neighbourhood to see if everything works, before I loaded my own neighbourhoods after installing Pets and Seasons. I installed both at the same time, so the last time I played my neighbourhoods was with OFBp2.
The newly created neighbourhood had an empty character folder. So I assumed everything was working fine and loaded my costume hood. Everything went fine for a while. A wolf was visiting one of my lots, but I thought this was okay as wolfs seem to be considered npcs. I donīt want any strays.

The problem occured, when I let one of my sims try to adopt a pet via phone. The game paused for a long time. I thought this was, because the pets in the adoption pool had to be created and waited. Unfornutaly after being frozen for a really long time the game crashed. Afterwards I looked in my neighbourhood folder and saw, that the game had created about 150 new character files. I didnīt create any sims or pets myself. So my question is, if a 150 character files, could be the right number for the pets and seasons npcs (with antiredundancy) and the pets in the adoption pool? It seems like a really big number to me.

Any input would be appreciated. I backed up my hood before the installation of course and would like to know, if I should use the backup?
43  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Face Templates - Testers Wanted - Update: 14 & 15 uploaded [09 March 2007] on: 2007 March 18, 19:42:38
Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you, abelle!  O_o  I expressed myself very poorly there.  The genetics in a CAS Sim won't change, and if you design a Sim to look a certain way at a certain age, they should look that way as they grow up.

What I mean is...okay, have you ever noticed that when you make a Sim and age them up and down in CAS, the features that look really nice at one age can become weirdly distorted and more noticeably Maxian at others, requiring you to adjust them and make a lot of compromises to get a Sim that looks nice at all ages?

One example that particularly comes to mind is face thinness: make a kid in CAS without the overly plump Maxian cheeks, and then age her to Elder, and she'll wind up looking cadaverously thin.  Adjust them so the Elder looks normal and then regress her to a toddler, and she'll be bloated.  This is because the game is using the face templates to help it figure out how to change the features from one age to the next.  (Drives me up a bloody wall, incidentally.)

That is good to know. I did notice, that the toddlers I created in bodyshop and CAS were looking strange, when I aged them up there. I didnīt know, that the facetemplates played such an important role for ingame born sims though. This is another reason to have good facetemplate replacements. I canīt wait for these to be finished. I feel like I have been following this thread for a year. The finished templates look amazing though. Well worth the wait.
44  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Face Templates - Testers Wanted - Update: 14 & 15 uploaded [09 March 2007] on: 2007 March 17, 09:32:41
Actually, they will probably make a difference.  Sim DNA is derived from the parents, but as I understand it, unless you've got the faceBlendLimits variable set to 'off' in your userstartup.cheat file, the face will be somewhat "normalized" to the face templates as the Sim ages.  I believe this is designed to prevent even worse grotesqueries from happening when two badly matched faces are blended in a child.  This is why you'll see CAS-designed children with highly customized, realistic faces, or children of adult CAS Sims with such faces, appear more and more "standard" with time--their features are being gradually returned to Maxis norm (or whatever face templates you're using.)

Please tell me this isnīt so. I want to sims in my game, whom I spend days creating and I aged the sims I made in Bodyshop down to toddlers in CAS. I want them to grow up in the game, but I want them to look exactly like I created them once they are adults.

Am I understanding right, that my sims I spend so much time creating will end up looking like a facetemplate once they are adults? And is there anyway around this? I donīt really want to turn faceblend off, because of all the ingame born sims.
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Overheating has gone too far!! on: 2007 March 12, 05:41:59
I realised that the attic is no longer considered to be inside as well.  I had to build a roof, delete the roof walls that were higher than regular walls, use regular walls and put a small roof on the top of the regular walls, because they were of course not lining up with the roof anymore.

I am not sure, if that was clear, but I think, walls that are created when using the roof tool are no longer considered walls. That would explain why you got light snow, because the roof was there, but no walls. That means it is considered outside, but covered.

I actually like this change, because if you wallpaper the attic, the wallpaper will no longer reach up to the roof.

ETA: This does definitely not affect houses without a foundation. I have played several of those and they work fine.

I just realised the change in the attic, because I wasnīt able to place a lamp without moveObjects on. The message was "must be placed inside". That was always the case when the attic wasnīt enclosed by walls all the way, the only difference is that the walls that are created by the roof tool are no longer considered to be proper walls.

The houses in Riverblossom Hills that already have an attic are build the way I described. You can see that the roof has two parts when you click a story up. Itīs only a little annoying, that I have to redo all my older houses. I used an attic in nearly all of them.
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves, Max all Skills LTW and Eggplant Juice on: 2007 March 08, 16:45:57
The serve option has nothing to do with the quality of your products, I believe. It depends only of the amount you have stocked the juicer with.

You should have the option at the latest if you have six times of what is needed for a single glass of juice. Maybe even with two er three times the amount needed for a single glass. There are different reports floating around.

I didnīt count, but I could serve eggplant juice, when the juicer was fully stocked with mostly eggplants. Just try it out. The most you should need are 12 eggplants stocked in the juicer to serve eggplant juice.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Werewolves, Max all Skills LTW and Eggplant Juice on: 2007 March 08, 14:51:50
Your eggplants donīt have to be thriving (mouthwatering quality). I have only ever had tasty eggplants and always got a skillpoint. For them to be tasty the plant has to be healthy though. Iīve never tried making juice from bland eggplants, so it is possible that you donīt get a skillpoint for juice made with these.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about Teleporter Shrub plus on: 2007 March 08, 14:28:17
I always find all townies etc. after looking really hard. It can be easy to miss a name. Especially if you have a lot of townies and because without a mod you usually get the same names again and again.

The real reason Iīm posting in this thread is to ask, if the shrub is still safe to use in Pets and Seasons. I recently installed both and donīt want to play without the shrub. I didnīt get any errors, but there could be things going wrong without me noticing.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Serious pet bug, please help on: 2007 March 08, 14:18:32
You donīt happen to have an outdated version of the risky woohoo mod by syberspunk in your downloads folder, do you? That would cause that error.

I was really stupid and installed my old version. I installed Pets and Seasons at the same time. I have been very careful and backed everything up to disc, started without any hacks, installed the empty templates for both before loading my custom hoods and started playing without any downloads etc. Then after installing the official pescado seasons hack I played for two days and really missed the risky woohoo mod. I thought I give it a try and installed my old ofb version. Embarrassed

Now I donīt dare to install the pets version, as Iīm not sure itīs seasons compatible. I really hope syberspunk gets seasons soon.

You donīt even need to use a bare lot. Just donīt save after you tested on one of your lots. When you are finished troubleshooting and your content is back in downloads, your lot will still have all the cc, as you didnīt save it without it.
