251  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fix my choppy game on: 2006 September 30, 22:56:17
1...I don't really think so unless they are corrupt somehow..eyes are very small files and your system is definitely on the higher end of performance, so it should make no difference at all. I have a ton of eyes in my downloads, and those are the least of my worries measured against some of the high poly game objects I have Smiley

2. As long as you don't change their appearance and/or save before you exit after testing, the eyes will stay the same
 Smiley

3. You could try changing where your virtual memory is stored if you happen to have another harddrive or partition on your system, as long as it is as fast or faster than your main HD...That helped my game out a lot.
Possibly, you could try updating your graphics card driver to a more recent one, but be aware that sometimes this makes things worse if the new driver is in beta form or unstable.
252  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Hat Stands For Thinking Caps & Noodlesoothers on: 2006 September 30, 05:39:15
I love these stands....
I am, however, having a slight issue....Every time I cancel the action of putting the thinking cap away (say if I want them to go to work and just drop it on the ground) I get an error message, and I end up having to reset the sim.  Do you have any idea what could be causing this sort of error?
I'd gladly take the errors if I can keep the stands....They will stay in my game for eternity and beyond!
BTW, I have all eps, ffs and glife.
253  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Thou shalt not bounce...Taming the camera on: 2006 September 29, 21:54:18
Thanks for the comment Smiley
Are you talking about doing it just from one angle so that you can have at least one area where you can zoom?
There have been times that I've had lots that, no matter how much I smooth them, even if I do so completely, I still had this annoyance.  Does doing it from the road fix that?
On one lot in particular, it was completely smooth, but had a ton of roof bumps where when I tried to smooth them and build walls, it kept giving me the "can't level terrain" error, even though the ground below was completely smooth.  Also it had a bunch of fences and stairs, which I thought was on of the reasons it bounced.  It seemed like everytime I moved toward the fence, it once again sent me into the heavens, lol.
Thank you again for the advice Smiley
254  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I could have sworn I saw this...Jail Ban hack? on: 2006 September 29, 20:47:39
Lovely, lovely and lovely.
Thank you!
255  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Thou shalt not bounce...Taming the camera on: 2006 September 29, 19:15:04
Okay, I have been living with this annoyance for so long....and I think I'm ready to beat it down with a little help from someone more versed in the bible of sims than I.
There are certain (many) lots that are nearly impossible to navigate and zoom in because the ground in uneven, or for any other architectural differences which make this so.
These lots are many times beautiful to look at, but impossible to play..
I wonder, is there any way to change this?  Perhaps by editing something within the camera files?   I don't care if I go through walls or the ground, lol, as long as I can play these lots without being thrown into the heavens every time I tried to zoom into the house. It's as though I hit a wind tunnel and am suddenly thrown over the house.
Does anyone have any idea how to change this?  Or am I forever doomed and restricted to using these lovely lots for decoration only?
I don't wish to move mountains....Only to drill a whole through them!
Thanks for any advice!
256  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I could have sworn I saw this...Jail Ban hack? on: 2006 September 29, 18:29:19
okay, thanks Inge...I read about that global hack and wasn't sure about compatibility either, so I have downloaded TwoJeff's visitor controller along with your institution set.
I know TwoJeffs said it would work without any setup....Does that mean that as long as you have the visitor controller in your game, and give each "confined" sim a token, the game will auto-ban them from any community lot? Was the visitor controller specifically modified to seek out your tokens?  At first I thought I'd have to, at least, put a painting on each community lot, but when twojeffs said there was no need for any special configuration, I wondered if it was as simple as placing one of your jail/institution tokens (little cds) in the sims inventory.
That's what I took the information as, but still haven't worked with the configuration yet as I'm still in the process of building the Janpanese style home, but intend on having it setup by the evening.
Thanks so much for all of the advice....I still can't get over how very advanced all of these mods are....mind-blowing, really.

EDIT: Oh wait, I am probably getting the paintings hack and the global "adjust/visitors/ban from lot" hack.... If I'm correct in being wrong Wink then the visitor controller is separate from the paintings and has a different way of finding the (Inge's) tokens and auto-banning....That would make more sense to me, but initially caused an overload in my puny brain. Please correct me if I am wrong or perhaps, give me a pat on the head if I am right.

257  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I could have sworn I saw this...Jail Ban hack? on: 2006 September 29, 06:38:45
Wonderful, thank you very much for that info...
That should work perfectly. Smiley
258  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I could have sworn I saw this...Jail Ban hack? on: 2006 September 29, 05:03:01
Oh, thanks for that!  It's not the visitor controller, but it is the jail token hack from simlogical I was thinking of. I'm browsing through now to see if there's a way to block sims from appearing on community lots.
I'm not actually using it for a jail, but for my house of Geisha Girls.  It just looks too weird for them to be roaming around and bowling in their kimono.  Roll Eyes
259  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / I could have sworn I saw this...Jail Ban hack? on: 2006 September 29, 04:50:41
I thought I had read awhile back about a hack that would disallow certain sims from appearing in community lots.  Something like a way to ban sims who are in jail from suddenly escaping and appearing in a community lot to fart and prank.
Am I imagining this?  I thought perhaps it might have been just a request I read about, but I thought someone had actually made the hack.  I searched all around the forum for "jail" but come up with nothing.
Can anyone confirm whether or not I am insane? (and possibly send proof in link form if I am not?)  Roll Eyes
thank you!
260  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Automatic daily changing of clothes on: 2006 September 29, 02:08:57
Nothing to keep you from changing out of the uggo clothes. =p

True, true...but that would not protect me from the trauma of seeing those uggo combinations of neon orange rave vests and plaid grandpa shorts.
It's a horror, I tell ya.
261  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Slim System Bed on: 2006 September 28, 19:47:48
okay, gotcha....Thank you for the clarification.
262  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NoTownieRegen Question on: 2006 September 28, 18:27:30
That's a hack that I anxiously await.  I had the stupido headmaster over and made friends with him, and the next time I tried to get my sim into private school, I got a new headmaster (who, btw, looked exactly the same as the first one with only a difference in skintone and hair color....unbelievably uggles as well, lol) This happened just one day after the other one was generated.  Angry
263  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Slim System Bed on: 2006 September 28, 18:23:47
Might I ask....WHat is the Slim System Bed?  I searched here but found no reference to it other than this thread....
264  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Automatic daily changing of clothes on: 2006 September 28, 18:07:37
Oh, yeah...eamethyst, that's true..
I would hate to see that happen.  I don't know if it'd be possible to exclude Maxis content from the list of outfits...
I never thought of that, but have wished for this type of hack for quite some time.
But, I don't think I could endure the ugly Maxis outfits...
Too bad you can't delete clothing from your inventory.  Then it would work out just fine.
265  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby Love and Sibling Rivalry on: 2006 September 26, 23:17:04
I've actually had children who's want is for a new family member, and when the baby is born, the relationship is in the negative.  That, I just don't understand! lol
I always wondered if the reason tnat children dislike the new baby is sort of like how it is in real life....The child is jealous now that he is no longer the baby.
I dunno, but all the info here is very interesting!
266  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / recolors with no meshes on: 2006 September 25, 23:50:02
i'm wondering if it's possible to find recolors that don't have meshes...searching the threads on sims 2 categorizer yielded no results on this.
when the sims 2 first came out, I had no idea that you had to first delete all recolors to get rid of everything connected to the object mesh.
so, i'm guessing that i have a bazillion unconnected recolors now, lol.  Roll Eyes
can anyone suggest what i can do to find these, either by using sims 2 categorizer or another method?
it would slim down my downloads folder by quite a lot, i'm guessing!  Cheesy
it'd be great to get anyone's input on this.
thank you kindly!
267  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Talk by phone sitting or relaxing. on: 2006 September 07, 22:24:35
Was the baby hovering in mid air or something? That would be an ugly thing, indeed...I've seen it happen.  Shocked
268  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Talk by phone sitting or relaxing. on: 2006 September 05, 21:15:49
I've always wondered why this wasn't an option as well....Like the tv where while relaxing in bed, or lounging on the couch, you have the option to watch it.  It'd be awesome to give the option to "sit and chat" when you click on a chair or couch.  Or have the option, while sitting to "call sim"(with the cell phone most likely, unless someone made a hack that actually made the sim get up, grab the phone and sit back down.)
That'd be a super addition since I make me sims talk for hours once a week to keep relationships in good standing...and by the time they're done, they're comfort level is usually dreadfully low...although i don't really care if they're comfortable or not. Wink
269  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Glamour Life Bed on: 2006 September 05, 21:10:12
LOL! That's very graphic indeed....I am now traumatized by the image you have burned into my weak and easily swayed brain.
I always wondered, though, if the hot tub made a difference...Now I know, but wish, perhaps that I didn't.
270  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB problem on: 2006 September 05, 21:06:09
Angry I hate this as well, lol.  It bothers me to look at my sims skill info and see "unemployed". lol
271  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Website for Male Sim Clothes? on: 2006 September 05, 21:03:49
Here is a link to some of the free athletics from sims connection. I believe the other set is pay?
I use these in my game.

272  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TUTORIAL: Merging the Maxis neighborhoods. on: 2006 September 05, 07:30:00
Great, thank you for the info, Sara.  My second neighborhood is actually empty and I wanted to merge it with my populated neighborhood simply because the custom neighborhood I used is way to big (in terms of actual size, not population.)   So, in doing this, I was hoping to eventually be able to move all of my existing sims (or future sims) into a smaller hood that won't drain my cpu like my existing one does.
My populated hood that I'm going to try this with has a downtown, university and shopping district.  If any of that may screw things up, let me know.
I'm going to attempt this within the next couple of days though, and I'll post my results.
Your help is much appreciated!
273  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TUTORIAL: Merging the Maxis neighborhoods. on: 2006 September 05, 05:12:05
Thank you very much for this tutorial Smiley
This may be a completely newbish question (though I've played with simpe a bit with meshing and neighborhood alterations), but is it possible to use all custom neighborhoods rather than any of the Maxis ones?  And if so, are there any unique steps to this method? I was assuming that rather than opening the Maxis hoods, I could just open custom hoods in replacement, but then I failed to trust myself in doing so without asking, lol.
Obviously I'd do all of this only after backing up my current hoods...in case you wondered if I even knew that much. Wink
thank you for any advice!
