26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Question About Order of Installation & Patching on: 2010 September 22, 01:57:46
Because it was fun to make fun of you. Pure and simple. Mwahaha.
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Question About Order of Installation & Patching on: 2010 September 22, 01:36:06
Hehe, yes slightly... or perhaps mightily. That's why I'd like some help.

Perhaps, and correct me if I'm wrong... but perhaps, well could it be that you might be too retarded to help me out?

'Scuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin..

Edit: How strange it is, but while I was reading through the "Ambitions: What's borked" thread, I ran into a little thing that I think you might be interested in seeing... I know, it's hard. I hate to be the one to break it to you... But, you very well may be just like me.. I'm sorry, truly sorry. (Note the word *cielings*, in case you still aren't sure how it should be spelt-ed-ed.)

On the contrary, I was enjoying the CAS music, there's some cute new general town/cas/etc music in this one.

Did anyone notice the logo on the load screen is ridiculously off center? <_< This is pretty Borked to me. I'll be updating my Sims 3 Load Screen mod to work with this for sure.

I can CAST floor edges...but not cielings. :\
28  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Question About Order of Installation & Patching on: 2010 September 22, 01:19:08
I've been searching for some information on this for a greater part of the evening.
There is a lot of information on this, per say, but none of it really in one place and none that actually answers the exact questions I have.

It would be great to have a clear and concise explanation from some smart-arses... oh, I mean, smarties like yourselves who have been around for awhile.
I've been slightly out of the loop, so I've gotten a bit behind.

What I'm wondering is this:
I have seen the posts concerning order of installation, but with the "stuff" packs, I'm still unclear.
What order should one install everything to date that is out and should any of the patches be installed in between installs?

When I say everything to date, I mean:

The Sims 3
TS3 - World Adventures
TS3 - Fast Lane
TS3 - High End Loft
TS3 - Ambitions

1. If I install them in that order, will I be safe from harm? (I remember how touchy TS2 was about order of installation)
2. Also, should I be installing any patches *in between* installs?
3. And, lastly, is the 4.2 patch preferable as opposed to any of the others available?

I've tried to clearly map out my questions to allow for the least amount of work on your part. If someone would be willing to answer those questions, I would be most grateful.
Thanks guys, for any help.

I don't know if this has to do with either one of these or the mix of them, but has anyone else noticed that custom sims almost never come out into town?  It's almost as if I used the old TwoJeffs Painting (from Sims 2) to block out all custom Sims and allow only Townies...I'm assuming it's one of these mods since I used to see my sims in town prior to using them but I'm just not sure which is doing it. Anyone have a similar experience?
30  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Install 1.3 update or not? on: 2009 July 31, 21:36:30
Many people, myself included, are simply waiting and researching the patch before we install it. This is not an uncommon approach.

Exactly what I was going to comment.  I am just waiting for my main mods to be updated.  My issue now is that my version of Awesomemod is expiring....and it's the most recent version from 7/23.  I'm surprised, again, that no one has mentioned that little problem.  Guess either way, if I don't update or I do update, I won't be playing come tomorrow. Unless all the modders have updated by then.....

Oh dear.....

As for the hair on my teen Sim, it's the same hair her mother and uncle have so it's easy to tell apart that family from others. Smiley
It is a funny hairstyle which is why I like it.  I can't stand the ridiculous ponytails that are available and I like anything that's unsymmetrical and strange.  Grin
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What, in Heaven's name, is up with traits?! Scary Pic included on: 2009 July 30, 06:34:43
Hey, not bad at all, Doc. Definitely an improvement on her.

Question....where is Adele from?  I thought she was someone's Sim but seems now like maybe she's a character?

Woohoo for non-fugly sims!  Here's an update on my fugly little girl sim.  She grew up nicer than both of her parents and I'm satisfied that genetics are pretty decently done now.   Roll Eyes I'm even more surprised of her appearance as an adult than I was of her appearance as a teen.  She's on of the nicer looking female Sims I've seen, in fact. Who would have known?  Except for Ashkitty, that is....

Yes, that's what I wondered....The thing is, the previous version isn't available for download for people who haven't patched so far.
35  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Install 1.3 update or not? on: 2009 July 30, 00:02:53
Surprising after reading this entire thread that no one has asked....
Is the new version of Awesomemod backwards compatible for not-yet-patched games?  Or is it even useful for people who haven't updated to use the new one?

Those piercings looked like a great idea until I got them into my game.  They really look terrible and should be redone to, at least, make them silver.  They all look black.  Cry

OpiumGirl, it was Kyna who linked to the wiki, not witch. You should change your info in the first post to reflect this.

Ah yes, apologies. Thanks for letting me know, I have amended my initial post.  Thanks to Witch....for nothin'.  Roll Eyes
39  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 25, 22:16:31
Wow, came back and everything was under way.  Wiki sounds fantastic and huge thanks to you, chaos, for jumping in even though you weren't too sure about it at first.  Much better than a text file, thanks to Witch.
Coolness.

Edit: I've edited my initial post to account for the new info and a link so people can go directly to Wiki if they so desire. Smiley

I am looking forward to your series.  I hope you'll continue.
I never did understand what the "wandhere" was for, even in Sims 2.  Now that it's for Sims 3, I'm more confused.  How does that help you with the cost of the lots?

41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 24, 03:54:45
Grandparents are automatically set: mark Sim B as Sim A's parent, then mark Sim C as Sim B's parent. Presto chango: Sim C is the grandparent Sim of Sim A.
Uncles, cousins etc. work the same way: make the normal family connections. To mark Sim D as an uncle of Sim A, just set Sim D as the brother of Sim B.

I know. That was exactly my issue. Both Sim A's parents are dead, no tombstones anywhere, so I can't give them any grandparents. The Sim being added to the family tree must be the selected sim. Which sucks. Or then I'm wrong, which sucks too. Halp  Undecided

I'm not sure I understand this first quote....how do you "Mark Sim B as Sim A's parent"?  Is that with Awesomemod, and is there a way to mark Sims as siblings?
42  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 24, 03:40:15
Oh if only we had a wiki which had a page on AwesomeMod.  That would be ideal for such a project.

LOL, good to know...Hey, in my first post, I definitely asked for a link to something similar, I just never expected to see anything.

Wait, were you being facetious like I think you were?  Sometimes I can't tell...
43  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Manual or Help Text? Anyone? on: 2009 July 24, 03:37:36
I think your idea is a good one, but I'm not really sure how to go about it either.  Of course, starting a new thread would work, but then we don't know all the answers, I'm sure.  And, even if we could find all the posts which purportedly clarify things, we do not have the power to move them into this new thread.  Also, what would prevent people from posting new (and sometimes redundant) questions in the thread being created to clarify, so it would need to be locked.  Therefore, a moderator would have to be involved to move the appropriate posts into the thread, and then lock it to prevent anyone from "muddying the waters", so to speak.  Thirdly, Pescado would likely need to review the posts to make certain the facts are correct, because no one knows better than him on the subject-matter.

However, as you said, it would certainly make it easier for people to see if the question has already been answered before posting, "eh-hem"!  I would be happy to compile this into a file which could then be downloaded, complete with LOLcats and Trogdorstrikesagain, et al.  Maybe even include some waffles and pancake bunnies ...!  Oh, and Grammar Cats - I love the Grammar Cats!  And Cheese with some "Whine"!  The file could then be updated as Pescado evolves the mod.  We'll see if there is any interest on the part of the moderators and Pescado.

It might save a lot of aggravation that seems to be rampant here.  Well, illiteracy does get annoying after awhile, especially from people who really ought to know better. It seems some of them are doing this JUST to be irritating.  Either that, or they really are 12.  And even then they should be more literate than much of what I've seen.  Ugh!  Then again, this is the most posting I have ever done on any Internet forum, so I'm not used to it.  Can't say that I disagree with those who have been here a long time on just how tiresome it can/has become.

On the other hand, sometimes I find it very entertaining to see the reactions and the ensuing "MOAR Fight".  It seems that almost every day there is a new "prisoner" in Retardo-Land!  I don't know whether I feel sorry for them or am on the verge of joining the attack, but, on the bright side, I LOL a lot more these days!  In any event, I digress.  Tl;Dr Tongue

Yes, you're right about the thread being a relatively difficult thing to accomplish for any non-moderator.  That's why making a file for download would be the preferable way unless, of course, (on the off chance) a moderator would wish to take on this project.  So, a good place to start would be to ask Simius for permission to post the tips he/she put together (which was kindly make upon my humble request) in this document and then get to gathering more tips into a document.

If anyone wants to share some sort of tip or small tutorial on anything, it'd be awesome.  I don't mind putting this together with the help of you, coconnor, and anyone else that wants to do some research or gathering of information or even posting of tips.

Edit: Ah, just notice the last two posts above...Yes, Chaos, if you have the tips together, that would be awesome for all of us.
44  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 24, 03:28:32
Cheesy funny thing, I wanted to share:

Rick's "no intro" (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=342922) prevented my crash issues. Since I installed this package, I had zero crashes. No advertisement intended, just wanted to share.

Voodoo. Somewhere, sometime you shall once again experience a crash though it seems to be gone. Voodoo. I've had the same experience....long stretches but every once in awhile, it crashes.  It's not nointro mod, it's voodoo.
45  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 24, 00:02:54
You can control shift click on sims not under your control and edit them in the CAS which includes adding traits. It's an EA debug command and not officially supported by Awesomemod. It can be kind of buggy sometimes so use at your own risk. In my experience it mostly works, that's how I set up my 'nannies' in nanny outfits and get rid of unpleasant traits for someone who is watching your kid like slob.  Roll Eyes

Slobbish Nannies, huh?  Guess I have to watch more carefully when those sitters come around, I've never actually used one since I've only had two children, born of a playable household, in my game...or maybe I'll grab that Nanny mod. Smiley In any event, use control-shift-click would probably mean I have to use the "enable all EA debug options" in Awesomemod?
Thanks for the advice.

I actually wonder something else....after reading through the first page of commands and after seeing this option for myself, I wonder if someone can explain what, exactly, "trigger age transition" does? I can take a guess, of course, but I am not positive that I'm right in thinking it is a fast way to get your sim to the next age....
What I'm really wondering is if there's a way through Awesomemod to add family ties to sims that I forgot to mark as siblings while in CAS.  I saw some reference to doing something similar here but saw no real instructions on how to go about it.  There is no mention of it in the "readme".

EDIT: Here is a link to some "awesome" mod info that has been gleaned from people in this thread (big thanks to Chaos for a ton of tips and getting the ball rolling, Simius too) and other awesome-type people, at the suggestion of Kyna (who suggested the already present Wiki page as a good place to start).  Anyone (non-retardos only please) can add info to this.  Thanks to Witch, for no reason at all.

Original Post:
Probably we've all wished there was one at one point or another and, although there's a really great little section in the "tips" thread, the only real comprehensive "manual" is found by digging through hundreds of pages.  Lots of times, these questions are redundant due to 1. The answers not being covered in the .rtfm 2. The answers being covered somewhere deep within the recesses of one of the many threads for Awesomemod 3. Lazy-ass people
Though we don't care about number 3, it may be nice to avoid so many number 2-heads that are number 3's...e-hem...by having a more comprehensive guide to the many functions that are frequently asked about.  I know many things are obvious but, some are definitely not and must be sought out outside of the rtfm.

I don't have the knowledge to do this.... I wish I did, but perhaps there are those who'd be willing to pool together and put in one tip or another into it's own thread where it could be filtered and stuck into a single area (even text file or html) to be referred to.  Something a little more comprehensive than the rtfm which is helpful for basics but usually becomes elaborated on later via a question on said subject.

Anyone 1. Know of something like this that I'm missing?
            2. Think it would be possible and like to to it on in some way?

What's the best way to begin something like this?

47  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 23, 22:11:08
I've read conflicting statements on this so, just to clarify....
To add traits and other sim related Awesomemod commands, must you be in direct control of a Sim or is there a way to do these "long distance" as well? As far as my experience goes, I've only been able to do things while in control of said Sim but it'd be cool not to cheat to control certain Sims to be able to zap them with one thing or another via Awesomemod commands.

My guess is that most things like "addtraits" are only possible while in direct control, though I'd be really happy if someone said I was wrong.  Roll Eyes

After installing both awsomemod and indie one of my elders have decided going back to school. I have tried both mods seperatly before that and as far as my knowledge goes she did it after i installed both.  If this has been adressed before just ignore my post and i will read trough all the other ones as soon as my headace goes away.

Do you mean your elder is going to "school" where children go?  That's a new one for me...

@everybodyhatesclifton,
Must you quote that entire post with images?  It would have been as simple as deleting the image links.....

You're right.  My bad.   Sad

Is it just me or are the n00bs getting nicer? I actually feel genuinely guilty when they reply with a polite apology after getting berated by us  Sad

I actually didn't mean it to sound rude and didn't consider it berating.  Sorry if it came across that way but, in fact, I was just being honest/blunt. No problems here at all. Smiley
50  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 22, 23:23:00
I just went into the game to try it.  It does not seem to work from Edit Town, however, it does work when you are in the game.  One of your Sims will be selected, you then press "M" to enter Map View and from that vantage point, you can control click on the household tag of the house you want to "bless".  The option "Make Sacred" appears in the pie menu at that point.

Ah, awesomeness.  Good to know it's not a problem on my end.  I kept reading "ctrl click on lot" but figured that meant in the "edit town" view.  Thanks, coconnor.
