51  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Create a Family is fucked on: 2011 July 30, 02:47:26
Vista, according to my husband, is a HUGE memory hog.  I ran Sims 2 and all EPs/SPs on 2 GB with that and it lagged big time, upped it to 4 GB and it was a lot better.

Then I got Win 7.  2 GB does fine, I now have 3 GB (salvaged a memory card from my old computer).

I hate Vista.  Was glad to say "hasta la Vista."  Grin

I am SO unawesome....  Embarrassed

You didn't save after inviting the headmaster, did you?

Yeah, I did, actually....  Lips sealed

I think next time I'll have a hot tub or bar or something.
54  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Disappearing headmaster on: 2011 July 10, 19:40:29
Oh, without the "cup into dishwasher" hack the headmaster is fine.

But the old sod disappears and scoring stops...as if he never came.

I might just have to remove that hack right before a headmaster visit...or just use the college adjuster and say "screw it."
55  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Disappearing headmaster on: 2011 July 10, 18:00:48
I have the hack where Sims put the coffee cups into the dishwasher when they're done drinking espresso, and I love it.

But here's the problem:

Whenever the headmaster has coffee, he heads for the sink to wash the cup.  And then he disappears!

WTF?

(I just use the college adjuster after that to get the kid(s) into private school, I know they earned the points.)

Six days of toddlerhood?  I think three is stretching it!

Two words:  Smart Milk.
57  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2011 July 06, 19:36:39
I actually got it to work, somehow...just used the batbox, followed by Theo's deleter tool.  It was Strangetown and Belladonna Cove that had the issues, for whatever reason.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting Lyla Grunt extracted via SimPE--or not on: 2011 June 22, 10:50:08
Awesome!   Grin

BTW if you want to know what the original Lyla's personality was (at least you get THAT much info from SimPE), it's 0 6 4 7 8.  A lot like Ripp, go figure, and her aspiration was Romance.

59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Education Bookshelf - Book's aren't gold anymore. on: 2011 June 21, 19:47:42
I don't recall the books ever having been gold...but then again, Seasons was one of the last EPs I got (I only started playing not 2 years ago).

Gold or not, that's still my favorite career reward.
60  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2011 June 20, 13:21:50
I just said "screw it," extracted the Sims I wanted from the various 'hoods via SimPE, took note of their personalities, installed the empty templates...and went from there.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: installing mods sims 2 DD plus expansions on: 2011 June 17, 13:03:17
Yeah, I kinda figured that out.  I liked getting my college students married to each other (I'm very old-fashioned).  I've since given up on Inteen.
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting Lyla Grunt extracted via SimPE--or not on: 2011 June 17, 13:01:22
I went ahead and made one of my own...but I'll go check out that link, thanks!  Smiley

Sometimes I wonder what the heck they were drinking over at EAxis...they should have had people like Pescado, TwoJeffs, etc. working for them!
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Getting Lyla Grunt extracted via SimPE--or not on: 2011 June 17, 02:25:22
This is driving me nuts.

Any time I extract a dead Sim via SimPE I can "recreate" them in CAS or Body Shop.

Lyla Grunt is another story.  Every time I try to click on that Sim in Body Shop, BS crashes.

I wondered if the fact that she had a tombstone in Strangetown had anything to do with it (though you're only extracting the physical traits...right?) so I resurrected her.  Didn't make any difference.

Note:  I didn't care if Strangetown got corrupted, I was deleting it anyway.  I was extracting premade Sims to put in my new empty neighborhoods.

BTW if it'll help:  I have all EPs and SPs (I have all the combo packs), running on Windows 7, using the latest version of SimPE.

*sigh*  I guess I'll just try to create a Sim that looks as much like Lyla as possible, as in my new Strangetown she's going to still be married to General Buzz.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unsetting "Read Only" Files in Win 7 on: 2011 June 17, 01:49:45
I like 7 better than Vista myself.

"Of COURSE I have administrator approval!  I AM the admin!"  Grin

Get that all the time when deleting/moving files for clean templates.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Careers Hack? on: 2011 June 17, 01:48:12
I use SimBlender lots of times myself...lists all the careers (taking into account your Sims' skills and whatnot).  And if you really want to cheat, you can select what level career.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: installing mods sims 2 DD plus expansions on: 2011 June 17, 01:42:52
What mods were you installing?

For example, Inteen seems to be iffy with combo packs (like University Life, Fun with Pets, Double Deluxe, etc.).

I have all the combo packs plus all the ones that come alone and Inteen is the only one that gets a bit screwy with me (like my Sims called for a gardener and ALL THREE of the NPCs showed up!).
67  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: List of Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. on: 2011 June 16, 21:59:19
Thanks for the templates and stuff, you guys.

I don't mind the townies being regenerated.  I just like to be able to play certain neighborhoods minus certain playables, and since I have yet to figure out how to delete Sims safely (I did RTFM but my computer is not cooperative), this is ideal.

I go into SimPE and copy the Sims I want from each 'hood.  Then I can plop them down in empty 'hoods and use SimPE or SimBlender to set relationships.  For example, I only want the Grunts and the Beakers for Strangetown.  I extract them, then "recreate" them in CAS, then plunk them down in an empty Strangetown.
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dreamcatcher and Cheesecake Question on: 2011 June 16, 04:18:44
As far as the cheesecake goes, here's what I did once:

I have SimBlender, which tells me how many hours a Sim has been pregnant.  I had a pregnant Knowledge Sim (not Family--with the Super Fertility aspiration benefit you don't know for sure until day 2).  She had been pregnant for four hours with one baby and I had her eat cheesecake.

When she was done I immediately consulted the SimBlender...and voila!  She was expecting twins!
69  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Correcting the DNA of Strangetown premade characters on: 2011 June 16, 04:12:41
A lot of genetics don't seem to match up.

Take Riverblossom Hills.  Gabe O'Mackey has both genes for brown hair, his daughter Jules has red, wtf?  I gave him a recessive for red.  I also found out that Jules' mother Alexandra's parents had, for father, red hair and green eyes, and for mother, blond hair and blue eyes, which would explain the recessive gene for green in Jules' DNA.

I gave Alexandra recessives for blond/green, and it's interesting.  Now they have a set of twins, a red-haired boy and a brown-haired girl in addition to Jules.  (Yes, I get them back together.  I can't stand Patricia.  LOL  And once I get this safely deleting Sims thing figured out, Rose Greenman's going down the memory hole.  I get Jason married off to another Sim and I gave him a recessive for red too, why not?)

I have never had a problem with General Buzz having children in Strangetown.  I match him up with a Sim I created, and their kids turn out fine.  I just give him a recessive gene for blond hair, since Buck is a blond, and it's all good.  If you notice Tank's and Ripp's DNA, they have brown from their father and blond from Lyla.
70  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2011 June 16, 04:05:58
I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I'm having issues.

I have the batbox, I went into Belladonna Cove and prepped several Sims for deletion.

I tried to exit the game (with saving), and the dumb thing hung up...as in I had to start Task Manager to end the program.

I tried it again...tried saving before exiting.  After five minutes the thing was STILL "saving lot."  Again, task manager.

BTW I'm running the game, all EPs and SPs, on Windows 7, if that's of any help.

I even tried running in windowed mode and opening up SimPE...but as I figured, I can't access the hood in SimPE while it's running.
