TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What's the best way to handle memories?

Yeah, but I prefer crazy-eyed ventriloquist dummies to pudding. To each their own. At least in TS2 the birthday cake didn't undergo spontaneous combustion and nearly take a few Sims with it. I've had that blasted cake set a kitchen on fire TWICE now in TS3. Kill it with fire? Kill 'em with a birthday cake!

I went ahead and disabled it as well. I don't look at that stupid scrapbook.
I've really come to like TS3...I like how you can get your rooms to coordinate without having to download recolors (I am fussy about that), it looks like they addressed some of the issues TS2 players have (such as being able to make a basement without having to mess with terrain levels, and kids aren't perfect little angels). So far I have the base game (duh), Generations, Seasons, Pets, and 70s 80s 90s stuff.
But while they improved in some areas...other areas are just examples of epic fail. Memories is a prime example.
If the graphics were like Sims 2, and if the genetics followed the same rules, and if the memories worked like in TS2...I'd like TS3 a LOT better. I don't even mind story progression, since my inclination is to play one household (and here I'd thought I'd hate it).

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Question about alien abduction
|
on: 2013 April 15, 15:45:08
|
Well, I'm new to Sims 3, got it a couple of weeks ago, went ahead and got Generations and Seasons.
At any rate...is there anything a Sim does that makes him more likely to be abducted...and more likely to get knocked up?
I've had two adult male Sims abducted. One got pregnant, the other didn't...so it seems abduction doesn't necessarily mean alien baby. Thing is...aliens aren't my thing. If it happens again I'll just send the bundle of joy off to the "homeworld."
What honks me off is that you can't cancel the "Investigate Anomaly" interaction.
I'd ask about hacks...but it seems I can't download anything onto a flash drive (I have no Internet access at home and have to trek to the library).
Just wondering if there's anything my Sims can do to not catch aliens' attention.

I've had something similar happen when I downloaded a custom Sim. When she was in the shower, she had no body, just a head above the stream of water. I'm guessing that's a separate mesh...? I know that whenever your Sim changes clothes, they're not really changing clothes as such, but they put on a different mesh.

It just happens when I play Life Stories (which was the first Sims game I've ever played--and then I found out Sims 2 has MOAR STUFF). Like I said I may dump the Free Play 'hood into Sims 2 and see if I still have that issue.
I'm just wondering if someone at EAxis was on something....

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Life Stories and boys' underwear
|

I don't understand it.
Whenever I actually bother to play Life Stories, the game has an issue with boys' underwear.
If a Sim attempts to purchase it at a community lot, the game crashes.
If a male child tries to change into underwear, it crashes.
If I have a male child choose underwear, same thing.
The only time it doesn't crash is in CAS.
Anyone else have this issue?

I didn't know that about the RAM sticks, thanks Zazazu!
Basically what I have is the 2-GB stick my computer came with, and the one I salvaged from my old one. I've been wanting to get another 2-GB.

Be careful with possible mismatched RAM, it can cause system issues.
My new computer is a Presario, so was the old one (but different models) and they use the same type of memory stick. In fact if I remember right the stick I got out of the old computer was one I'd bought at Best Buy. Thanks for the head's-up, though. I do plan on getting a 2-GB stick as soon as I can afford it.

I have Sims 2 and all EPs and SPs...from what I've seen of Sims 3 (I've watched gameplay videos on YouTube and asked around), I think I will stick with 2, being the fascist that I am. As far as boring families in Sims 2...well, that's why I have Theo's plug-in. Not only that, but the Sims 3 base game is $50 in my area. I got Sims 2 Double Deluxe and the other combo packs (and the remaining EPs) for $20 apiece. Maybe by the time Sims 4 or 5 comes out Sims 3 might be cheap enough for me to give it a shot. What are the requirements for Sims 3 anyway? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, 3 GB of RAM (it was 2 GB until I swiped a memory stick out of my old computer).

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Life Stories 'hood into Sims 2--FAIL
|
on: 2011 September 04, 11:31:58
|
All right, so I completed both stories and copied the 'hoods into Sims 2, after having read the instructions here from several years back (I'm a latecomer, so bear with me).
I put Vincent and Naomi Moore onto an empty lot. Since I have FreeTime (as well as all the other EPs) I gave Naomi her aspiration benefits, no problem, same with Vincent.
But there's something about Vincent's inventory. I try to access it, and it crashes. I'd made sure to dump everything out of it before copying it over to Sims 2 in case there were objects not found in 2.
*update* Okay, I'm not that awesome. I'd left Vincent's cellphone in his inventory, since I figured, eh, it's in Sims 2 as well.
Turns out that was the problem. I made sure his and Naomi's invetories were completely empty. Now it's working...and I even used that clothing hack (can't think of the name of it right now) to give Naomi a nice makeover!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Identical twin townies!
|
on: 2011 September 03, 15:18:31
|
I downloaded some nice new face templates and used the mailbox to create new townies and downtownies.
Now here's what has me scratching my head: I opened up SimPE to see what my new townies looked like...and sometimes there will be a townie with identical twins/triplets! They have different names, different personalities, and different aspirations...but their physical characteristics and clothing are identical!
Has anyone else had this issue? I just delete the duplicates (the safe way, of course), but I'm still thinking...what the fudge....

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff Collections
|

I do have a question concerning the Sims 2 store.
Since it's apparently closed, is it okay to share stuff from it? I wouldn't mind having a few baby items, but the store closed before I could buy points or anything like that.
See, unlike SOME people/entities **cough**T$R**cough** I actually care about whether my actions are legal or not.

Strangetown is no longer an issue for me, but Belladonna Cove...*sigh* might as well hang it up.
I also have issues with deleting the playables I don't want from Bluewater Village, no matter what 'hood I associate it with.
Oh well. I just delete when I can, and if I can't...pretend they're townies who happen to live in the 'hood!
