1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: Sooo, Does Anyone Play This Game? on: 2017 May 04, 18:12:57
For me it's a toss-up between 2 and 3.  Tried the free trial for 4, and I agree, it's a Facebook/mobile game, just for PC.  I didn't mind CAS but actual game play...well, if the base game comes down in price to, say, $10, then MAYBE....

Now for TS3...1.69 has the expansion and stuff pack manager, doesn't it?  I've personally never had an issue with it (running Windows 10, don't know if that's relevant).  I actually like that feature, since IMO most of the TS3 expansions don't integrate as well as TS2's do unless you make custom worlds.  And one of these days I may take another stab at figuring out CAW.
2  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: Can I say it? on: 2016 April 04, 18:33:31
I like TS2 and TS3.  If there was a game that had the animation, memory system, and genetics of TS2, along with the open neighborhood, story progression, and Create-a-Style of TS3, it'd be perfect.  I'd gladly pony up $80 or so.

TS4...better off playing Sims on Facebook.
3  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: Sims 4 Problem and Annoyance Thread--Take 2! on: 2016 April 04, 18:31:02
I'm sure people will come up with fixes, you have to give it time.  I'm sure there are people over 12 who wouldn't mind.

Me, I don't plan on buying it any time soon.  $60 for the base game?  As my dad would say to anyone buying it at that price, "You got took."

I noticed the massive queue-dropping too.  I expect it from an absent-minded TS3 sim.  But I was finding myself thinking, "Look, bud, you do what I tell you!"  I am someone who micro-manages her sims big-time, and when they defy orders, get up, and do something stupid...well, where's the cowplant when you need it?  Grin
4  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Sims 4 Problem and Annoyance Thread--Take 2! on: 2016 March 27, 01:04:48
So I got bored and decided to go for the 2-day free trial for TS4.  If I'm going to bash (or praise) something, I'd like to be able to say, hey, I tried it.  So I wouldn't mind rattling off some annoyances.

The sims were a bit cartoony but eh, I could get used to that.  But when it came to detail, like with furniture and everything...TS2 and TS3 have better detail.  I got a notice that my video card might not be able to handle it, but it handled it just fine (my computer is 6 years old, running Windows 7, 3 GB, and it handles TS2 and all EPs just fine, as well as TS3).

Building a house was fun.  Roll Eyes  Why couldn't they just make it so you could click-and-drag for roofs?  Then I did shift+click to do all the outside walls of a house at once...and the inside walls got it too, and no I didn't have any missing wall segments.  Huh  And don't get me started on the blasted camera!

I didn't mind the sims sitting in front of the TV while eating.  Thing is the little buggers don't stay in one place for long--you have to watch them or they're off doing who-knows-what.

Granted, the UI takes some getting used to after having played TS2 since 2009, then TS3 since 2013.

I guess it's kinda fun if you're bored out of your mind, and you don't mind plunking down $60 for Sims 1.5.  If I do get it at all--and that is a BIG "if"--I'll wait until it comes down in price.  $10 and I might consider it.

I didn't care much for the "no toddlers" deal, and that teens look just like YA/adults.  (They pare it down, then claim your video card might not be able to handle it?   Roll Eyes )

That's just my list, and that's after two days.  I'm sure that if I had it longer I could come up with more.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Roommate suddenly added to household on: 2014 November 23, 19:54:27
I haven't been on the forums awhile and just happened on this thread.

At any rate...I had a similar thing happen.  I had a family with a teen, and the father's brother as a roommate (the Hamming family in Bridgeport).

All the adults--including the roommate--went on the free vacation.  Which was fine, teen got to party.  But when they came back, the roommate was playable.

I shrugged and figured, eh, might as well play the uncle too.

I hear the free vacation thing is rather borked to begin with.

If you have NRAAS (I know, I know, kinda late to the game here), you could probably use MasterController or StoryProgression to fix it.

I have to wonder if the roommate system isn't borked as well.
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / A house I used to live in on: 2013 October 24, 15:25:59
Spent the last couple of evenings creating a house based on one I grew up in, in the Detroit suburb of Oak Park, Michigan.

It has a few store items (washer and dryer), and I created it in Barnacle Bay, so it has the nautical-themed mailbox.

Oak Park.Sims3Pack

It has four bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.  The house I lived in didn't have a bathroom on the main floor (rather, a closet), but I took a few liberties and added one.  I was also going by memory, as I hadn't lived in the house since 1983.

There's also a decent-sized utility area in the basement, as well as a couple more rooms and a bathroom.  If you have Party Animal Sims, I'm sure they'd appreciate having more rooms for fun stuff.  Smiley

There's a kitchen with a kitchenette, as well as a dining room, in which I put a professional bar.

Bear with me here, Photobucket's giving me crap and I'm new to Flickr.  I'll be getting pictures of the interior up ASAP.

EDIT:  I updated the download link.  I found a small issue with the house, fixed it, and re-uploaded.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Mainly from Spain on: 2013 October 24, 00:05:29
That is nice.  I like what you did with the interior.  You can tell you put a lot of time into it.  Smiley
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.63 on: 2013 October 23, 14:25:36
Yeah, I've been hearing some negative things about Origin and the launcher, so that's what I'm going to have to do.  No biggie.

I had installed the super patcher up to 1.57, but I should still be able to do incremental patching from that point, shouldn't I?
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.57 on: 2013 October 23, 10:36:32
I'm actually going to do that now, that did occur to me.

I just got Internet service again at my home.  So no more trotting up to the library with a flash drive in hand.  That was a bit of a pain.

EDIT:  Just downloaded it, from the EA Store.

Now the blasted thing informs me that I need to uninstall it and install the latest version.  Um...what?  I did uninstall what I had and download the new version!  Roll Eyes  At least I THOUGHT I downloaded the latest version!
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.63 on: 2013 October 23, 10:34:06
And as usual if I do get TS4 I'll wait for the price to come down first.

Instead of paying $50 for TS3 when it first came out, I decided to give it a try when I found the base game at GameStop for $20.

My launcher teases me with 1.63 (I now have teh intarwebs, yay) but I go to update my game and the stupid thing tells me it can't connect to Origin.

Last year I moved and just didn't bother to reestablish Internet service right away.  I have Origin, but I wound up with it because I purchased SC4 as a download, so I could make neighborhoods for TS2.

I guess I'll have to simply download it instead of using the launcher.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.57 on: 2013 October 15, 15:02:05
Does it affect Create a World?

I was patched up to 1.50.  I had an issue with downloading 1.55 and 1.57 and getting them to actually work, so I got the Super Patcher, and am now up to 1.57.

Now CAW won't work.  And here I was wanting to take a stab at it again.  When I launch it (or try to), it gives me the message that there's a startup failure and it tells me to use my Windows Task Manager to close it.

That never happened before I installed the super patch.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Showtime issues on: 2013 September 25, 14:40:34
I'm patched up to, I believe, 1.50.

And you think running several patches behind is a good thing WHY? Update your damn game thou reeky toad-spotted nut-hook!

Well, once I find my flash drive (or buy another one) and head to the Wadsworth library (this dinky little town of Rittman's library has SLOOWWW computers), I'll be able to download them!

BTW I did do moar searching after I posted.  Which, admittedly, I should have done, instead of hastily posting.  I just got Showtime not too long ago, since I only started playing Sims 3 back in April...and I found out, you need to make sure your singer is in their career outfit before trying to set up anything.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Showtime issues on: 2013 September 23, 16:26:51
All right, I searched for this issue here, didn't find it, so I'll go ahead and post:

My singer is at Level 6.  When she goes to perform at a venue or at a SimFest, she's suddenly off the platform or stage and the props disappear.  I try to set up the stage again, repeat.  When I try to have her audition for a gig or do a Sing-a-Gram (wish I could kill THOSE with fire but I digress) the actions drop right out of the queue.

I'm patched up to, I believe, 1.50.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: UI acts up when adopting a pet on: 2013 September 06, 20:58:30
You know what...if I can just pause it and switch it to another household and come back...that's a LOT better than quitting the game and restarting.  I'll see if that works next time my Sims adopt a pet.

(EDIT)

I noticed that it happens in Appaloosa Plains.  I had Sims adopt pets in Starlight Shores and it didn't happen.

Hm.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.55 on: 2013 September 06, 16:38:22
It says Update Error: File not found.  Posting from my phone.  I'm going to wait until my 12 gets home from school, then we can go to the library and I can redownload.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / UI acts up when adopting a pet on: 2013 September 06, 15:10:52
As far as I can tell this started after I installed University Life.

If it's important--I have all EPs except World Adventures, Ambitions, and Island Paradise.  Only SP is 70s 80s 90s.  Patched to 1.50.

At any rate, every single time my Sims adopt a pet from a shelter, when the pet arrives, the UI only wants to show the portrait of the newly-added pet.  It shows the proper motives, wishes, and moodlets for the Sim that's selected, but the pet's portrait is displayed.

I find that exiting the game and clearing the cache files solves the problem--until another pet is adopted, then I have to do it again.  Rather annoying.

Ideas...?
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.55 on: 2013 August 27, 22:46:44
I hope I don't sound like a tard....

I downloaded the patch from MTS (I don't have any mods) to my flash drive (since currently I don't have Internet access at home), copied it to my computer...and the stupid thing told me "file missing" or some BS like that.

Really irks me.  Especially since I walk to the library whenever possible since my power steering system has a leak.  (Cue the violin.)

For the record I have all EPs *except* Ambitions, World Adventures, and Island Paradise, and the only SP I have is 70s, 80s, and 90s.

That's my whine for today, I'd like some cheese with it, please....

Purple's my favorite color.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Deleting the buggers on: 2013 August 02, 18:50:15
I deleted an individual sim or two a few years ago and will not do it again. I had problems with stuck sims, sims dropped partially down into the floor, and invisible sims. My advice is not to do it, per my experience. I did it in 2 but will not in 3. I evict sims and let them die on the clipboard all the time with no issues.

Did you have the stuck/partially in the floor/invisible Sims in TS2 or TS3?

As another poster pointed out, they're more interconnected in TS2.  In TS3 the memory system is a bit different (and crappy IMO so I shut it off).
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Deleting the buggers on: 2013 July 08, 21:08:54
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, Skadi--no interconnectedness, and the fact that the game itself moves them out.

(Of course I'm still a bit wary, given EA's penchant for offering options that will break the game...such as deleting Sims from the Sim Bin in TS2.  Can you really blame me here?   Wink )

Thanks!

21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Deleting the buggers on: 2013 July 08, 21:01:49
First off, I did search the forums for an answer, since I assumed the question may have come up before.

Now then:  I am wondering if it's safe to delete Sims in TS3, whether it's by turning on testing cheats, shift-clicking on the Sim, and selecting Delete; or by evicting the household and deleting from there.

By "safe" I mean "no BFBVFS is going to ensue."
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: T$R subscriber files for free on: 2013 June 01, 14:24:08
Jezzer, that is why, for TS2, I wait for someone to retexture Peggy hair.  I like a lot of the meshes just fine...but the texturing...!  GAH!!!

Whoever's running that blog would do well, I'd think, to get hold of the people over at PMBD if they want to share.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Moar Riverview whine on: 2013 June 01, 14:22:11
Well...I now have the decrapifier on my desktop, just dragged and dropped the downloaded Riverview file over it...now it works!

So easy, even a caveman could do it!  Grin

I wonder about EAxoids at times.  They remind me of comic book publishers who don't bother to go through back issues of comics and wind up "retconning" a bunch of stuff.  (I'm a former fangirl.)

"Will this EP make a neighborhood not function?"

"Who knows...who cares!"
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / No talking to daycare "graduates" on: 2013 May 30, 22:29:20
Here's a bug I've noticed (Generations) and it irritates the snot out of me.

I like having a Sim with the Daycare profession.  So the toddlers grow up, and eventually they're coming home from school with my child and teen Sims.

Now here's where there's a problem...the Sims in my active household can't interact with them.  The only interaction available is "Stop Doing That."  Other than that, nada.

It seems to be only the daycare "graduates" with that problem.

Anyone else have this problem?  (Anyone else masochistic enough to deal with half a dozen toddlers?  LOL)

EDIT:  I do not have this issue with premade children, such as Sandi French and Sam Sekemoto (the ones my Sim gets to watch if I start her out right away).  These are kids from families that have just suddenly moved into the neighborhood.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Moar Riverview whine on: 2013 May 30, 22:06:49
I'd like some cheese with this whine too (preferably the raw-milk variety).

I downloaded Riverview and spent half the night with a bottle of Mountain Dew Throwback trying to figure out how to make the blasted world show up.

This morning I got the brilliant idea to reinstall everything.

Immediately after reinstalling the base game I put in Riverview...and it worked fine.

Until.

I started adding the EPs I have (Generations, Pets, Seasons, 70s 80s 90s).

So I remembered something I'd read on MTS...put a copy of the world in the Sims 3 folder that's in Program Files (x86).

Then I got the crap described in this thread (not wanting to commit necromancy and take up residence in Tardo Land)  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,18326.0.html

So my question is...what in the world is borked here?  Works fine with just base game, add a few EPs and forget it.

(Yes, I just downloaded some Awesomeware and hope to give the decrapifier a run.)
