1101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: These hacks from TwoJeffs appear to be empty archives on: 2006 January 06, 13:54:52
Just curious: Now, that Two Jeffs is here - why not download from here? Why from MTS2?

here is where she/he is having the problem...

Maybe someone with a decent connection who has all the hacks listed could put them in one zip for altered to try downloading  Undecided

edit well I don't have all of them but I zipped what I do have

I don't have

Age Transition Fixes.zip
Go Steady Critical Fix.zip
Photo Booth Try for Baby Fix.zip

didn't think the first two were needed anymore  Huh  and the last one conflicts with syberspunks risky woohoo (which I use) so I haven't downloaded it

[404'ed!]
1102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I Can Break Stuff Just By Looking At It ! (Help Please) on: 2006 January 05, 14:51:44
Maybe I misread it, but my understanding of the Censor Blur patch was that it should be left loose in downloads.

really?  I've always kept it in a subfolder and never had a problem  Shocked
1103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why. won't. he. just. die? on: 2006 January 05, 14:25:48
I think kids can't die in The Sims - so killing one with a cheat isn't sticking because it's not allowed.

well I've had children die and get tombstones and become ghosts *laughs*  (using InSIM to kill them)

only a couple times did the game not aknowledge the death and not give me a urn/tombstone. Once the child was on a deck or the stairs when he died and another was on the driveway... there was another time that I can't quite remember the details but I'm pretty sure it was also an odd location.

In all 3 cases I did not get urns/tombstones so I wondered if the location had anything to do with it.
1104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why. won't. he. just. die? on: 2006 January 05, 14:10:21
I've had that happen too when a child died.  the only thing I found to get the death aknowledged  by the game (get the kid out of the loading screen pic) was to teleport the child to a different Lot, a message should then pop up that the child had "died on another lot"

For a tombstone/urn, I never bothered but I think it will be possible once the game aknowledges the childs death to link it to tombstone that has been produced some other way. I'm sorry I'm not up on buyable or linkable tombstones for cases such as this but I'm pretty sure they exist  Undecided

Is it the inteen that did that?

yes
1105  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn glitchy fridge! on: 2006 January 05, 12:00:34
Sleepycat, I would also say it is better to have either sprinklers or fire alarm in one room, not both.  But you can put fire alarm next to the fire place and sprinklers in the kitchen if they are in seperate rooms.  I place the sprinklers right in front of the stove and make it point the stove.  I don't know if it would really change the odds for fire but I would put a more expensive stove to see if it would start a fire espacially if the Sim have low cooking skills.

ahhh... that makes sense (don't think my sims would want to get fined)  it's odd I always forget about fireplaces! I must add some to some of my houses!

edit - I have hardly ever had burglaries
1106  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I Can Break Stuff Just By Looking At It ! (Help Please) on: 2006 January 05, 11:24:12
Sleepycat, I'm interested in your method.  I'm having some problems with mods not appearing in my game, and I'm pretty sure it's a question of load order.  However, I have NO clue how to starting debugging which can overwrite which.  I have too many mods I'm afraid.

well I can list mine the way I have them to give you an idea

1 misc (empty at the moment, mostly used for testing hacks by someone new to see if I want them/it or not)
2 carrigon (childs pizza oven)
3 cathair2005 (toddlers mirror)
7 syberspunk
8 crammyboy
9 inge jones
10 JM Pescado
11 twojeffs
13 lizzie love
15 jase439
16 eric
17 Quaxi censor blur patch

JMs and TwoJeffs are very important in my game and would normally be a higher number but I felt LizzieLoves waterbed should load after everything else except for jases InTEEN (which I would have load last if I didn't also have InSIM) and Erics InSIM (InSIM in my opinion should always load last)

I did set the no censor blur patch by Quaxi last to load but it could probably go first since nothing else affects the censor blur (as far as I know anyway)

The "missing" numbers get used when I add hacks by someone new, like crammyboy and syberspunk  (I just recently started using hacks by them)

I did have "default replacement" files in my hacks folder but shifted them to a separate folder recently named "zzz Default Replacements" so that they load absolutely last  of all custom content, they don't affect the hacks.

*laughs* my hacks folder -currently- contains "113 files, 12 folders"  Wink

side note - I like to shift some hacks out to see if I can stand playing without them and yesterday I played almost all day without JMs "noroadpillows" and OMG what a pain, I put it back in first thing this morning!! Oddly enough InTEEN and the waterbed haven't made it back in yet...I really like them but...  Undecided
as far as I'm concerned you don't start having a pillow fight while on a romantic date  Roll Eyes
1107  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Damn glitchy fridge! on: 2006 January 04, 16:14:53
ZZ, my sims haven't had any trouble cooking, even the ones with only 4 cooking skill points...

and it bugs me abit cause I took out Carrigons "safe cooking" hack and added sprinkers and fire alarms to most of my Lots!

Haven't seen a fire in ages  Cry
1108  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Continually changing chemistry on: 2006 January 04, 03:15:01
This is the only couple I've seen where the chemistry actually fluctuates depending on where they are.

guess this is a case of the heart Not growing fonder in absence *laughs*

I always laugh when I set a "turn on" for underwear and they lose a bolt when their partner gets dressed  Grin
1109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I Can Break Stuff Just By Looking At It ! (Help Please) on: 2006 January 04, 03:09:26
well I did folders for

custom hair
custom clothes
custom makeup
custom recolors
Maxis objects
zz hacks
zzz default replacements

with subfolders in each by creator/site and a few of those have subfolders in them.

my subfolders in "zz hacks" are numbered (so that certain hacks load after others) with the creators name so I can easily keep all my hacks up to date (also helps if i need to check for a conflict)

When I make new clothes in Bodyshop I shift the files afterwards from Saved Sims to "my custom clothes" in "Download/custom clothes" and use SavedSims for any sims I want in the simbin.

Just organize yours in whatever way suits to best  Smiley
1110  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy tester? on: 2006 January 04, 02:37:12
Eric has put in alot of hours to fix InSIM so it dosen't conflict with alot of hacks (currently I have about 120 hacks in, mostly Inges, Crammyboys, JMs,TwoJeffs and Syberspunks)

I think what it comes down to is I perfer InSIM because I can do things in game (why would I want to close the game to change something in SimPE when I can do it in-game in less then a minute?) and I hate typing in cheats!

InSIM may do alot but you only need to spawn the sectionals "as and when" needed and delete them (without having to go into buy mode) when you no longer need them and you can ignore any parts of it you don't need or want to use. (I suggest the DEST or SIM editions, I recently switched back to the DEST edition)

InSIM is not perfect (nothing is) and I have a few hacks that do the same thing as a sectional in InSIM but they do it in a different way and I find that way to be easier for me (ie; TwoJeff's collegeadjuster and Inge's TeleporterShrubPlus) but they all play nice together so I get two ways of doing something instead of one *laughs*

O and say you've taken a sim to a community Lot and their needs are low or they need to be friends with someone fast, just spawn the needed sectional and bink all taken care of Grin
1111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy tester? on: 2006 January 04, 00:27:11
I use InSIM for checking the stats and sometimes I use it to speed up the pregnancy  Grin

that "agesimscheat on" cheat sounds really messed up, I'm glad I use InSIM instead  Grin

Jordi, interesting but there are some children in the neighborhood she dosen't know yet and the game has also spawned a few townie children that she also hasn't met yet either
1116  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 03:45:44
there is a teddy bear on the lot... None of the kids have even touched it (or adults, thanks to twojeffs "no talk through" fix)

*was to tired to play tonight after all*
1117  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 02:33:39
well in my case the sim affected is a child
1118  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 01:37:04
Mine are getting the want to talk to themselves too!  And my neighbourhood is very new.  1st gen.

We feline types are drawn to the cooooooooool places.  I'm here at MATY all the time, I jus' don't talk much!  Me? Not talk much? Can you imagine?!!

Well I put in twojeffs handheld fix so maybe that will help  Undecided  Since I'm just getting this n'hood going I hope I don't have to scrap it and start all over again but if I have to I will, better now then when I'm much farther along  Tongue

I think I'm gonna go play for awhile, I really just want to go to bed but can't (gotta get my daughter to bed first) of course if I play I will end up being up alot longer...

us feline types are pretty cool ourselves so I guess we can't help finding places that are as cool as we are *laughs* You need to post more tho, your too quiet and it's not normal for you  Wink
1119  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 00:56:13
this is happening in a fairly new neighborhood, the child is only 2nd gen and I'm really careful so I have no idea why she suddenly started wanting to talk to herself (she has friends her own age she can talk to since she lives at a "home for unwanted kids")

I didn't have the handheld fix in, didn't think I needed to worry about it since no one in the n'hood has any (its in now so we'll see)

Hey Toni, great seeing you here too! Cool  Best wishes for a great year!  I think MATY has become my new home. I spend to much time here but I learn so much...and it dosen't matter if we go off-topic *laughs*
1120  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Befriending yourself? on: 2006 January 03, 00:26:28
I've got a female child who just started spinning wants of being friends with herself and wanting to talk to herself...

no handhelds are owned by anyone in my n'hood
1121  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building Tutorials and/or Advice? on: 2006 January 02, 01:55:18
I think the CONTROL vs DELETE has to do with the type of stairs, theres two types with different stairs under those two types. To remove any stairs I have to first select the exact stairs (not just which type)

The stairs I had the most trouble deleting were the nasty green ones in the pre-built lots in the pleasantview n'hood (when I first started playing TS2) because I could not figure out what stairs they were  Roll Eyes  I couldn't delete those stairs even using "moveobjects on"  Once I figured out which stairs they were (by selecting each kind) I was able to get rid of them without having to demolish the lot *laughs*

edit - ZZ beat me, takes me forever to get my thoughts together  Tongue
1122  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building Tutorials and/or Advice? on: 2006 January 02, 01:17:24
Some of us read the instructions! LOL!

I think alot of us do, that dosen't mean the directions give you all the information you need...

/from the TS2 directions booklet

To delete most architectural elements press "CONTROL" in combination with the selected tool. Architectural elements return their purchase price to your Sim's coffers no matter how long they have been in use.

and it says for staircases

To remove staircases, pick them using the Hand Tool and press DELETE

Have you thought of using FBA?

I don't recall ever hearing about a FBA cheat  Huh
1124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Yet another few questions, on: 2006 January 01, 15:42:59
Thanks for other replies, damn I hoped I could take the gravestones of the goths with them because they need a bigger house they have too much money to not spend Tongue.

*laughs* I forgot about the inventories... You can take the gravestones (and other stuff) with your sims if they move (with NL) or you can also send the gravestones to the cemetary(sp? can't spell this morning) if you want

edit - simmiecal beat me *laughs*
1125  Awesomeware / The Scrapyard / Re: Anti-Gypsy Walkby on: 2006 January 01, 15:35:27
Is this supposed to stop the gypsy from showing up on community lots also?

I'm sick of her ringing the doorbells on community lots downtown and she did it again when I played last night (with this hack in) so I wondered...
