101  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 December 11, 07:39:51
You're surprised?

nope, wasn't surprised at all. I wouldn't have bothered to check if I had actually trusted them to do it right.

Oh, there was also another registry key under Local Machine that got left behind.
102  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just how the hell many pictures do you have to acquire on vacay... on: 2007 December 11, 07:32:42
 Cheesy

I guess I should have mentioned I use YAFSScreen, it saves the screenshots I take to the folder I set it to, in the file type I want and stuff.  I later crop them because I usually don't need the whole picture and I'd rather not resize them if I don't have to. When I save them, I name-number them according to their place in the story/chapter.

Then, I open the folder I put that chapters pictures in - in Window Explorer (thumbnail view, switch to flimstrip if i need to) - so I can see the pictures while I'm typing up that chapter in Notepad.
103  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2007 December 10, 23:15:12
I tried the new suckRot removal tools (for BV, H&M, TS), they didn't remove the registry keys (the don't delete one and the userdata one). maybe because I didn't uninstall BV or the others...

anyway, I put in the no-cd exe, game works but I still get those annoying random 5 second freezes.

104  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just how the hell many pictures do you have to acquire on vacay... on: 2007 December 10, 20:15:55
heh, for stories, I just crop&resize screenshots, number them in the order I want them and then write/type the story up in Notepad.  ...my game dosen't save half the pictures I take with the c key so I don't have much choice. I don't mind too much since I get better pictures from the screenshots.

105  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Smaller Beach lots! on: 2007 December 08, 23:34:33
I made those on your haven3 terain--it is mostly flat, right? I know there was one lot mad eon one side of the terrain that I couldn't use because the terrain was 'rough' and the side seam wouldn't 'heal'. So i tossed that out in favor of the flatter side lot which is what you have.

I'm not sure what you mean by your 'flat beach lot'. Can you upload one or is it uploaded someplace? IF I can get it, I'll try making it into 2xs for you. Maybe they'll place a bit better.

very strange, yes the haven3 terrain is mostly flat.

I haven't packaged up my flat beach lots so they aren't available anywhere.  I tested two that I had in my bin that were made on one of my flat beach terrains - they work on all of my flat beach terrains except that one sleepytown terrain(and another sleepytown terrain that has a higher slope that I didn't test).

It's no big deal for me cause the only beach lot I have been using lately is my public beach community lot. I've found having sims living on the beach annoying with them constantly going off to watch waves and build sandcastles etc...  the smaller beach lots would have been nice but... *shrugs*  most of the testing I've done was just to help.

All beach lots, even shrunken ones, have to be able to reach the water or they won't place.

yes, I think we all know that here. I just wanted to point out that those couldn't reach the water because the land had already been altered by the maxis Xx5 beach templates.

/supper time, won't be back till later or tomorrow
106  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Smaller Beach lots! on: 2007 December 08, 22:59:56
I'm back, with some good news and some bad news.

I tried the 2x3, 2x4, 2x5 on 4 more of my terrains. (sorry but I have no interest in any of the other sizes so I never installed them, I only installed the 2x5 for testing).

in:

SleepySmallHood2 - they wouldn't place (totally flat beaches)

Sleepy4Bridges - they wouldn't place (totally flat beaches)

(in the above 2 terrains, 2x3 couldn't reach the water - was already altered by maxis Xx5s beach lot. I don't think the 2x4 was able to reach the water either)

SleepyTown2 (not officially released by me) - they all placed (2x3 were limited to were to the spots they could reach the water) - Slope NOT flat, maybe a 3 or 4 tile slope (depending on how to want the slope) (if I remember right, my flat beach lots wouldn't place an that terrain)

SleepyTown3 (also not officially released by me) - None of them would place - Slope Not flat (although all my flat beach lots work on that terrain), has maybe 1or 2 tile slope.

as I said before, nothing was in the way to prevent them from being placed.

---

if I remember right, I think my Sleepyhaven terrain has a few areas on the beach that had a small slope/weren't level - where the beach lots level in the spots you placed them?

---

I have a feeling it may be a slope issue after all.  I think you will need to make different slope versions. Personally I would like flat versions since I won't use terrains with non-flat beaches (which is why my SleepyTown terrains weren't officially released).

edit - to bold
107  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Smaller Beach lots! on: 2007 December 08, 21:39:42
Mutantbunny, I've tried them on 2 of my terrains (SleepyMountain1 and SleepyValley6) and they (2x3, 2x4, 2x5) won't place. I made a new hood with the bluewater terrain to see if they worked there and they did.

nothing was in the way that would stop them from being placed in any of the terrains I tried.

I thought maybe it was a slope issue since my beaches are all flat but you say it did work on one of mine (which one, could you check?). If it had been a 'distance to water' issue then the 2x5 should have placed but it didn't. They were all able to 'reach the water'

Now I'm perfectly willing to make some terrains where the road is even closer to the water, *really liked the 2x3 & 2x4 sized beach lots*  thats easy enough to do...but if it's a slope issue... hmmm maybe I'll pop in my two terrains that have a small 2/3 tile slope and check them... *runs off to do just that*

ok, thanks for the quick reply  Smiley
109  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Inge's age duration hack: how to modify? on: 2007 December 08, 00:59:57

The only way to change the current age duration of a sim is to actually edit the sims character file using SimPE.

or by using InSIM  Wink

110  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Smaller Beach lots! on: 2007 December 08, 00:41:42
now I wouldn't mind giving the 2x3 and 2x4 sizes a try but are those 3 hack files included in the sims2packs needed?

ijBuyableBeachwavesPatch
ijBuyableCarPortalsPatch
ijBuyablePedestrianPortalPatch

*needs more info*

I'm pretty clueless about these shrunk lots. I've never used any of them before but I find the 3x5 beach lots to be too big (I prefer 2x2/3x2 lots).

111  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Crashing problem... on: 2007 December 01, 00:08:10
Lucky for me, because the first time I ever had a crashing problem, that was exactly what I narrowed it down to and three other people on LJ had the same file and the crashing.

This makes me so happy.  Not that you were having problems, but the fact that all that fuss we kicked up actually got attention to the problem and you were able to fix it.  Thank you!

Smiley
Ivy

then you'll probably be very pleased to know that I was able to help others who had the same problem with that file, all because of 'the fuss you kicked up'. That 'fuss' made me remember it even though I never used that file Smiley   That file still pops up every so often causing trouble for people.

I'm just trying to give people more terrain choices  Cheesy  they are fun to make *laughs*
113  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The SC4 Terrain I did so I could have more beach lots on: 2007 November 13, 14:01:01
I've uploaded 4 more terrains over at Crazy Town. they are smaller ones  Grin
114  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The SC4 Terrain I did so I could have more beach lots on: 2007 November 10, 01:02:28
SC, may I just take a moment to say that you are awesome? I don't have BV yet, but as soon as I get it, I'll be downloading your terrains.

Thank you  Cheesy  *laughs*  The nice thing about terrains is they don't care what expansions you have. You could download whatever ones you like and just avoid placing lots on the beaches until you have BV  Grin

115  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The SC4 Terrain I did so I could have more beach lots on: 2007 November 09, 12:18:12

I just uploaded 10 new terrains (at Crazy Town) a few minutes ago *laughs*  The ten are a mix - medium + small, land & islands  Cheesy

116  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sinking BV General Store on: 2007 November 01, 14:21:11
ditto what JM said *laughs*  On my flat beach lot terrains, the ground can't get any lower without being under water.

I have been keeping the low terrain issues in mind when making new terrains lately and I think my newest terrain is my best yet --> http://www.the-isz.com/theisz/index.php?showforum=75

It still has flat beach lots but the upper areas should be ok for lots that have ponds or basements or sunken living rooms and stuff.

117  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The SC4 Terrain I did so I could have more beach lots on: 2007 November 01, 03:25:12

@ sleepycat: there may be an issue with placing non-beach lots on the terrains immediately across the street from the beach lots (does that make sense).  Apparently, in some cases the U-shaped general store (maxis lot bin BV comm lot) starts sinking into the terrain and being surrounded by water.  There's a thread on this here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,10147.0.html

Not sure if you were aware of this.  I'm going to try to test, for whatever good that will do.  (Checking to see if it's a consistent thing?)

thats odd, I haven't seen that happen in my hoods.  I'll have to read about it tomorrow, no time tonight *must get to bed soon*  Tongue

FYI: I posted some more terrains over at Crazy Town.
118  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: 2 more Terrains, flat beach lots on: 2007 October 30, 17:55:40
just to let anyone interested know, I uploaded a new medium sized terrain over at Crazy Town (follow link in sig to get to CT, it's in my misc section).

Guests can now download at Crazy Town so I'll probably only upload my terrains there now.

I can see in the sandbar decorating picture that I need to adjust atleast two of my bridges *laughs*  It was a pain getting the water narrow enough in SC4 for the TS2 bridge to be placed right. I actually ended up guessing and was amazed I did so well *laughs*

your welcome Emma  Grin

look I managed to get it right for bridges! well except for the bottom left bridge/road (if it bugs you, don't place a bridge there)

there are no pictures in the zips... If you want the basic and lush .pngs then download these at InSIM, Crazy Town or The Laden Swallow. I'll even give you the link for The Laden Swallow since I think it's the only one you can download from without being a member.

123  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Did EAxis bork sharing beach front lots too? on: 2007 October 24, 15:47:02
good! saves me from the headaches I would have gotten trying to do different levels for beach lots *laughs*
124  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Did EAxis bork sharing beach front lots too? on: 2007 October 23, 13:31:27
I haven't had any trouble placing beach lots I have built on my flat terrains, usually I place multiple copies of them to save time. Some have been placed in different hoods (using one of my flat terrains) with no trouble either.

I don't usually download other peoples lots so I have no experience with trying other peoples beach lots. I wouldn't even try placing a downloaded beach lot that has any kind of slope on one of my flat terrains, it'd probably break/mangle them.

But... I do understand other peoples frustrations over this problem. I am planning on trying to make a couple terrains (or atleast one) soon that have different sections of beach, with different levels of terrain. maybe that will help?  not sure how well I'll do but I can atleast try  Grin

125  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The SC4 Terrain I did so I could have more beach lots on: 2007 October 23, 11:13:54
Ah, I did not know that. I don't move or package lots very often and I have previously only been concerned about how flat a terrain is, not its altitude.

I recently discovered it because I build all my own lots and I re-use some of them when I make new hoods.  I always re-use copies of my existing community lots (saves time and I already like them) and one of those community lots was a fishing park  Tongue
