On a side thought, isn't a bit retarded that having a good relationship with the evil lord will have you promoted to evil lord as well (regardless the awesomemod restrictions on the total # of evil lords)?

EA has a very weird opinion about evil lords' behavior.
52  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Code Fix for inactive slacker sims on: 2009 July 28, 07:16:30
I already had the lifetimehappiness code not working, without this modification, so I think it's due to something else too.

I've seen the dragon in Childish sims' bubbles, and the Yeti in Cowards, when they have their panic attacks.
Maybe the dragon is a reference to faery tales?
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch released. on: 2009 July 26, 13:54:43
I have another version of sims 3 1.0.615.00107, and says wrong region when I click the patch. What can i use to patch?

I'm afraid it's the "wrong" version: that can't be patched. You need the Razor (aka retail) version.

If all his efforts to become non-homeless fail, and he runs out of money, his chances of starving to death on the streets start climbing rapidly.

That is awesome  Cheesy (you already know, but still).
You know also what would be funny? Linking their survival chances (and their money) to the charity donations/charity underrmining amounts. In this way, those tasks would do something actually useful, apart of a moodlet.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: BREAKING NEWS: TSR INSTALLS SPYWARE! on: 2009 July 21, 19:19:46
The word does come from Latin, but does not have a recorded plural form. If it had one, it would be *vira, as virus is a neuter word. It would never be viri, that's the plural second declension of the masc. noun 'vir', man.

And *virii is complete nonsense.

Correct, and I'll add more: virus (poison, in Latin) is a noun of the second declension (like vir), but it's a special case, as it retains the -us ending in subject, accusative and vocative case. It also doesn't have an own form for the other three cases, and it uses the synonym venenum instead. So there's no "viri", nor "viro", but the full (singular) correct declension is: virus, veneni, veneno, virus, virus, veneno.
Also (again), a plural form doesn't exist at all - virus is a singularia tantum (single only) noun.
In short, in Latin (and Italian) is indeclinable; in Italian we use the singular form (virus) with the plural article (i), but I assume that in English it's different, also because there's no different singular or plural article.
57  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How to install "awesome" mod on a mac (lots of images, yay!... slow loading. on: 2009 July 21, 17:09:03
"a free 7z, rar, etc. general (de)compression tool"

Ahh, ok, fine then.
In short, 7z and rar are two widely used general compression types, i.e. not sims-related. They're like zip, gz, sit... only better.
Quite often, stuff online is archived in these formats, so having a decompression tool at hand will not hurt anyway.

Other question: does the link in the OP go to the most current version of Awesomemod? I only ask because there are now two links on the Awesomemod page (Mirror 1 and Mirror 2)--any reason I might need to dl one of these specifically?

If in doubt, just download from the main Awesomemod thread; mirrors are identical copies, they exist just because if for any reason one of them results wonky/slow/busy/broken/down, the other will work.
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Medics predicting gender of larvae? on: 2009 July 21, 08:41:41
Hah the answer just dawned on me like a ton of bricks.

This works with Sims who have the "Family Orientated: trait in the medical career. For some reason not with predicting grandkids but certainly their own kids

Duh. Me stupid.

I don't think so; I had my sim (top of Medical) predict the gender for her sister-in-law and for a random townie too, and she didn't have the Family Oriented trait. (she was Hates the Outdoors, Inappropriate, Handy, Bookworm, Flirty).

Ditto. Double-clic never worked for me either. Or, it requires an insane amount of time to load the installer. I have to install stuff from the launcher, only running the launcher first, then install from within.

Oh, for the record, I've found a way to launch the game alone, without the launcher, but it loads with all the graphic massively screwed up (just imagine the loading screen behind a curtain of fireworks, flashes of black and white, and so on). No idea why.

Erm. Define "this".

Based on my observations, sims in committed relationships are VERY unlike to accept flirts, unless they have the flirty trait; you should consider this, too: maybe Nancy Landgraab rejects your flirts just because she's married.
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Socially Deprived Larvae Suck! on: 2009 July 15, 08:26:40
Not in the crib; the teddy bear should be put in the toddler's inventory. When the toddler sleeps in crib, the teddy bear appears in the crib as well, but it's materially in its inventory.
It doesn't work for babies/maggots, apparently (or simply I suck at putting stuff in babies' inventory).
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Socially Deprived Larvae Suck! on: 2009 July 14, 21:44:04
I find stupid they lower their social bar when they're asleep; it's not like they were aware of what's going on around them. Therefore, I always cheat keeping the social bar to the same level of when they fell asleep. It's technically cheating, but it has a logical vibe in it. Or not?

As a side note, I need my daily dose of grammar bitchiness: it's either larva (singular) or larvae (plural), but I guess it's ok, in English, larvas for the plural form.

Kekekek...whats the super secret post count you are required to ascertain before the great glorious Pescado will allow you to post your (hideous or otherwise) Pudding-fied self?

It's not super secret, it's a simple trick.
It should discourage unknown people to fill the thread with their selfsims which nobody cares of.

In a nutshell, if you can't answer positively to the basic Pescadoish questions: "WHO BE YOU? DO WE KNOW YOU? DO WE LIKE YOU?", then probably your pudding doesn't belongs here.

More seriously, you might try moving her out in a lot on her own (or merge her with a non played household) and see if the fact the game hasn't to play all the show will eventually get her baby out. Check the newspaper the next days.
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: All of my gems, rocks, bugs, etc are gone..... on: 2009 July 13, 10:52:08
Did a Sim in the active household die, and did that Sim have a collector? I bet when another Sim died his/her inventory was emptied into another Sim's. When this happens, the living Sim can't use the collector helper, because they didn't buy the ability. Check if your Sim even has the ability or not. If not sell it. I think its worth over 4,000.

Hmnm I have a family with 4 collector helpers, none of them belonging to the bearer, all inherited, and they work normally.

I don't have the Razor version, only the Reloaded (I went from Reloaded to retail directly), and yes I have the old rld one - that's the one I'm trying to compare.
Anyway, to clarify better, putting the rld cider (which worked) in place of the retail cider will launch the goddamned Launcher anyway :/. So yes, it works, but not exactly how we would.

That's what it says in the log while launching reloaded cider:

72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Mac patch (not "the patch" - the earlier one); halp? on: 2009 July 12, 12:27:42
Based on my limited understanding of Mac-ness, Cider is just a wrapper-launcher, and does not contain the actual executable...so what happens if you just use the old one?

Indeed, it is, I guess. Actually, the substitution works - I'm trying the disassembling thingy to look how exactly the two ciders are different each other; if the only difference I'll spot regards the path of the application to launch, I'll know that using the Reloaded cider is ok (heh, maybe I'm just too complicated and nitpicker, but still).
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Mac patch (not "the patch" - the earlier one); halp? on: 2009 July 12, 11:55:22
I tried to find some log of the earlier patch install, but I did a major cleanup recently, and can't find the direct link, sorry :/.

Anyway, there appear to be no problems installing the launcher patch even if you have a "non retail" version. What sigmund said.

The problem I'm having now, however, is that I cannot run the game without bringing up the goddamn launcher.  Before updating I was able to run straight from The Sims 3.app -> Contents -> MacOS -> cider, but now clicking this brings up the launcher too.  Anybody know if the patch causes this, or something else I futzed?

I know for sure that the Reloaded version had a cider and a Sims3-Launcher executables separated (hence the possibility to launch the game without the launcher), while the retail version has only the cider, which launches the Launcher first, no matter what.
I'm trying to disassemble the retail cider and see if I can do something about, but given that it's the first time in my life I ever try to crack something, heh, result is unpredictable and definitely not guranteed.

I even received a reprimand for top-posting. Usually, top-posting is required on other lists because people just wanna read the latest info, not the most recent history.

Ah, yes, I see why it would work. This forum software, however, resets the "new" icon whenever you edit your post, so it's handy and doesn't need to double post. In fact, it's even better: the edited post will not be bumped up in the list, but it wil show the new icon anyway, so it's easier to understand what's going on at first sight.
