1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / premature birthday happening automatically on: 2010 April 10, 16:15:44
I've searched for this every way I can think of and cannot find anything relating to the problem I'm having.

I have a Sim, Jackie, who recently aged from teen to young adult. Her boyfriend Lawrence aged to YA himself a few days later. When this happened, I moved Lawrence in with my active family (Jackie's family) and had them get engaged. I confirmed on his age bar that Lawrence is indeed at the beginning of his YA stage with 21 days left until adult. However, that same night, he spontaneously ages to adult. I cannot cancel the birthday action.

Why is he seemingly skipping the YA stage entirely? Is it normal for a YA to automatically become an Adult upon moving out of his parents' home? (I don't think it is, but I can't say for sure whether I've ever moved a YA out or in before.) Is there any way I can prevent him from suddenly becoming 24 days older than his fiancee? Or can I stop his progression through the adult stage until Jackie catches up?
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2009 December 05, 00:58:24
I'm getting the food spoilage bug - anything my sims cook and store for leftovers spoils within 24 hours.

I was getting that with the low-end refrigerator.  Once I replaced it with a better model, the bug stopped.

I'm getting this even with the most expensive refrigerator. Replacing it works for as long as I play, until I save, quit, and come back. At that time if I don't replace the refrigerator again, all of my leftovers spoil within 12 hours. And this is with the base game and latest patch, no WA.

Replacing the refrigerator first thing when I load my game is an easy workaround, but it's costing my Sims money.

Since AM will most likely have to be updated for WA, and AM expires once a week forcing an update, is continued use of AM going to require WA, or will there be a base game version of AM maintained for those of us who have to wait until Christmas for WA?

This house at ModTheSims is a 3 bedroom starter furnished for under 20k. Nice layout too. I've played it some. In general those sorts of homes are hard to come by unless you just build your own.

Fixed link.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: pets but no kids: nanny won't house sit for vacation on: 2008 July 02, 01:17:50
You know, I thought I was up to date on all patches (I definitely did install the FT patch re-release that just came out), but since I had taken a couple of long breaks, maybe I missed the BV patch. Checking that now.

Inge, I hadn't even thought of using a townie friend as a housesitter... and you'd think I would because I use them as roommates for struggling single Sims all the time! I will definitely try that next time. Thanks!
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / pets but no kids: nanny won't house sit for vacation on: 2008 June 29, 01:31:38
Yes, make fun of me... due to long breaks from playing TS2, Bon Voyage is still fairly new to me and I'm still figuring it out.

When a family with pets but no kids tries to go on vacation, the game makes me hire a nanny to house sit. But when the nanny shows up the day of the vacation, she says, "Hey, there's no kids here! I'm sorry but I'm leaving." And then I get a message that says no one in the family can lead the vacation and it is canceled.

Is there some trick to making the nanny stay to pet-sit? Or can families with pets but no kids simply not go on vacation because EA is stupid? (The nanny requirement is stupid anyway, since the family are not actually gone from the home lot for any amount of time.) Has someone made a hack that simply eliminates the requirement for a house/pet sitter for vacations?

Everything related to the sim would be queued up and applied when the sim exits the taxi.

Right... and if the sim ages up several days after they were supposed to, then the rest of his age transitions and even his death will be delayed as well. I can work around this with Merola's Multi-Painting, if I am paying attention. But if the Community Time hack could fix this itself, that would be even better.

The other things like bills piling up, fires, kicked trash can... those are the facts of life and I'm prepared to deal with them. Wink

This would be an extremely bad idea. In fact, as a rule, it's a bad plan to make a sim go missing for longer than 24h. Like Uni-time, BV Vacation Time functions on what is fundamentally a totally different scale.

Yes, hence why I was so conflicted...

Does anyone feel that the time taken for the holiday should run when returning to the home lot?

I was actually debating this myself yesterday. On one hand, if it doesn't, it makes the accumulation of work vacation days kind of pointless. But on the other hand, what happens when there are events like age transitions scheduled to take place during that period of time? If the age transition waits until the Sim returns, does he then have extra days until his next transition? Or will the hack make the appropriate adjustments to keep the Sims' ages in sync? If that's possible, that would be great. But if not, it may be better to leave this alone.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Platinum pets on: 2007 November 09, 20:39:48
Honestly, it doesn't really make much of a difference. Pet motives are not things you're actually empowered to control yourself under standard rules

Funny... I feed and bathe my pets.

Does anyone know who made this hack or where to check for updates? I Googled but all I got was a defunct MTS2 thread.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / can someone interpret an error log for me? on: 2007 November 04, 22:17:21
This error popped up out of the blue today; I'm assuming there was a pet walkby in progress. I have all EPs, no SPs. Many awesome hacks and yes, a few non-awesome as well. Just wondering where to start looking for the cause of this error.

Hi there, HelloKit! You've raised at least seven threads from the dead to ask a question that is essentially the same in each thread.

Excuse me. I'm not new here. And it is never considered necromancy to post in a hack's official thread.

And Syberspunk has a thread in The Podium about his hacks and Seasons.  So everyone here is covered...

I don't read The Podium. I don't have enough hours in my day. As it is I spent all of the spare time I had Wednesday night updating the hacks I could find, and have yet to even play Seasons for the first time. Peasantry is the place for hacks created by those other than Pescado, TwoJeffs and Crammyboy, and thus, is where I would expect to find updates and compatibility information on those hacks.

Quote
TwoJeffs and Pescado both have forums with constantly updated hacks and mods now that Seasons is out, and that is where you should look for the mods you want. Crammyby also popped up to share updated Seasons files. Try those forums.

I am perfectly aware of that, and I had already downloaded those hacks in the Seasons directories. The questions I asked in the appropriate threads for some of Pescado's hacks were because of one hack being in the updated folder and a hack that goes with it not being there. This, to me, seemed like it could possibly have been an oversight... and since I had seen that Pescado had indeed forgotten a few others, I thought it would be helpful to all of us including him to ask whether that was the case. And, in at least one of those cases, I was right. Pescado fixed the mistake, stated so, and moved on. And if he of all people didn't feel the need to get snarky about it, well, then...

The baby controller is in the Seasons directory but lobonanny isn't... just an oversight or is it broken?

17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: 2006 holiday mini-pack problem on: 2006 December 02, 21:24:37
Hmm... I installed his from the very same DVD I used on mine, though, way back when. And I wonder why my PC doesn't have the patched one. Should I copy the one from his PC over to mine, or does it even matter now that I have the EPs?
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: 2006 holiday mini-pack problem on: 2006 December 02, 15:58:13
Well, I finally fixed it, but it wasn't easy. EA support was no help at all. After going around in circles with them for 3 days because they didn't seem to be capable of actually reading my messages, they finally told me that there is no way to uninstall or reinstall the Holiday Mini-Pack without completely uninstalling the entire game and starting over again. IMNSHO, when you're dealing with a game with multiple expansion packs that all have to be installed again, that's completely unacceptable. What on earth were they thinking, not including a way to reset the Mini-Pack installation in case of installation failure?

So, what I ended up doing is this. I installed the base game, '05 HPP, and '06 Mini-Pack on my fiance's PC, using a program called Total Uninstall to monitor the Mini-Pack installation and log all file changes. Then, I copied all of the changed files back to my own PC. And now, finally, as far as I can tell, all of the new holiday content is showing up in my game.

One unrelated oddity I noticed while doing this, is that even with nothing but the base game (unpatched) installed, the objects.package on my fiance's PC had a more recent modified date (10/25/2005) than the one on mine (1/22/2005). How is this even possible, when the base game was released long before Oct. 2005? I didn't copy the file over, just left it alone for now... I don't even know if the base objects.package matters since I have all the EPs.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: 2006 holiday mini-pack problem on: 2006 November 27, 16:29:45
Okay, well there's my problem. The H06 package is not there. So for whatever reason, it thinks it installed, but never wrote the package file. Anyone know how to make it stop thinking it's installed so I can install it again?
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / 2006 holiday mini-pack problem on: 2006 November 26, 23:23:52
Since I had already purchased the 2005 holiday stuff pack, a couple of weeks ago I purchased the 2006 mini-pack which only adds the items that are new this year. I purchased the downloadable version (I'm not sure if there is a physical CD version of the mini-pack?). I downloaded and installed it via the EA Link downloader, and it appeared to install just fine. But I can't find the new objects in my game, EA Link still shows it as "ready to install" rather than "ready to play", and when I try to install it again it says it's already installed.

What files should I look for to know if it really installed or not, and if the files are there, is there any other reason the objects would not be showing up in my game? Does anyone know where the registry entry or flag is that tells it the mini-pack is installed, so that I might be able to "unflag" it and try installing it again?
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets custom painting feature on: 2006 November 09, 16:02:30
The perfect pixle size is 348x546

That's what I was looking for, thanks!
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pets custom painting feature on: 2006 November 09, 14:41:28
Because I'm anal about such things...

Does anyone know what the ideal pixel-size is for images for the new custom painting feature in Pets, in order for it not to look stretched or smooshed in the game?
23  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: A question... on: 2006 November 09, 14:25:38
For some bewildering reason this isn't computing Huh I did read through the entire post, but can't seem to wrap my brain around what tradtional marriage vs a default version has to do with an adults go steady mod Undecided

Quote from: syberspunk
This hack will conflict with Pescado's marriage-traditional hack. I have uploaded a version that included the marriage-traditional changes where female sims always take the last name of the male sim and same sex sims retain their own last name.

In other words, since this hack conflicts with Pescado's traditional marriage, syberspunk rolled the two together so people wouldn't have to choose between the two.
