526  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: I fixed the clipping on one of Rose's pay meshes... would anyone like it? on: 2007 January 09, 20:04:27
Now can you fix the one that gives girls beards that stick through their face? It is one of roses' ponytail meshes.

Sure, I'm not doing much today.  Which one is it?
527  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots crashing on: 2007 January 09, 02:55:32
I see no one has mentioned moving families into the housing bin, putting sims into new neighborhoods when they've already met people in their old neighborhood, or deleting families without being extremely carefully about cleaning up memories of them in SimPE, all of which can corrupt your neighborhoods.  Have you done any of those things?
528  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Two moons, stars and werewolves on: 2007 January 08, 17:58:41
I suspect it's more of a Little Red Riding Hood thing.  Plus, children are probably tastier.
529  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So what exactly triggers a reporter visit? on: 2007 January 04, 18:21:28
I once used the customer selector to disallow every type of sim except playables.  The reporter showed up with them (all 5 of them -- it was a new neighborhood) and promptly gave me a terrible review.  Try closing and reopening your business with a very limited range of allowed sims and see if that does it.

With bonus points for NPC ghosts, there's plenty of incentive to kill each one right after woohoo.  Hell, there's plenty of incentive to do that anyway.   Tongue
531  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: I fixed the clipping on one of Rose's pay meshes... would anyone like it? on: 2006 December 15, 19:01:18
I was dreaming someone would that to some of rose's and peggy's hair. Do you plan on doing some others ? Thanks a lot.
Pioupiou

Nah, probably not.  If I was a sim I'd have only 2 active points -- I can't be bothered to do much unless I feel motivated for some reason.  I only edit stuff that I want in my personal game.

Uploaded fixed version. Now the pirate version is better than the real Rose version! F'naa!
Cheesy  Hahahahaa!!
532  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / I fixed the clipping on one of Rose's pay meshes... would anyone like it? on: 2006 December 15, 03:31:20
It's Rose's pay hair #50: pretty, but it suffers from horrible clipping issues because Rose evidently couldn't take the time to see how it actually works in the game.  I like it enough that I pulled out all the MilkShape tutorials I had stashed away and added in the the newest plug-ins to get it working properly.  The hair is (still) not animated, but it bends pretty smoothly in the back at least; the hair bits in the front still don't work as nicely as I think a pay mesh should, but at least they don't clip into the chest as much.   Tongue  This package replaces Rose's, so copy her original file somewhere before installing this in case you hate my version.  You'll still need Rose's original files for the textures, which aren't included -- I'm sure everyone here knows where to find them.   Grin

Edit:  This will still clip through hoodies and thick jackets because the hair is very close to the back.
533  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Body Shop Previews? on: 2006 December 10, 19:35:03
Why not put in a new "test items" folder and move your Downloads and Saved Sims folders to the desktop until you're done?  Keep your meshes in a separate folder to be left in if you need them.  It's what I do.
534  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for good custom pets on: 2006 December 06, 20:40:27
Yeesh -- it looks more like a toy than a real animal... both the Sim pet and the actual dog.  It's hard to believe that's the same species as a doberman.  How the heck did anyone ever manage to breed that?
535  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Car woohooing and date wants questions on: 2006 November 29, 03:46:36
Hey, I agree with JM -- I'ma woman and I NEVER uses the term "make love" - I think it's icky and puritanical and if I'm on a date and have been day dreaming about him he were to ask me, "wanna make love?", I'd be totally turned off because chances are my daydream would have a whole helluva lot more to do with fucking than with "making love".

Yeah, my example could have been better phrased.  It's not what's said, so much as not knowing you well enough (having a high enough LTR) to know what you'd like to hear.  Here's the same set up from the other angle:
You're on a date with a guy who is totally smokin' hot.  You're looking around for a good place to have sex, wondering if you want to take him home or just get right to the good stuff and do him up against the nearest wall... and then he turns to you and says, "Oh snuggy-wuggums!  Let's make sweet, sweet luuuuuv together!"   Tongue

And here's one just for JMP:
You're on a date with woman who has a scowl like a thunderstorm on a cloudy day.  You've taken her to the local firing range to compare hand weapons, and you've been talking for hours about military hardware and explosives.  You really want to have sex with her, so you start your flirting with a playful little push that slams her into the nearest wall.  As she glares at you with the cracked plaster flaking off behind her head, you put yourself into a battle stance, certain that she's about to make that romantic lunge for your throat... but then she flutters her eyelashes and whimpers, "Oh yes, hurt me!  Make me your helpless little ragdoll!"
Grin

But as to why sims want to flirt or slow dance and then reject it, I interpret it as a wish to get to know you well enough to slow dance, flirt or whatever, rather than you know, let's get to it right now, right here under the bar...
You say it more eloquently than I do, using fewer words.   Kiss
536  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Car woohooing and date wants questions on: 2006 November 28, 01:20:55
I just think it's pretty retarded that if a sim expressly wants to be flirted by or slow dance with another sim and this sim offers, she gets dissed.  I think it's VERY retarded that the game allows for sims to want things they don't really want.

I think that's realistic enough.  Imagine having romantic daydreams about someone... sure, you'd love to make love to him under the moonlight, or whatever, but it's still pretty disillusioning when he turns to you and says, "So... wanna fuck?"
537  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pissing on the porch on: 2006 November 09, 23:23:51
Well I started a home business and if there is an accident or on porch I just sell the pee now.  Tongue

Undecided  How much does that tend to go for?

This was better in TS1 Unleashed -- there was a decorative fire hydrant object for housebroken dogs to piss on, and no puddle would be created from it.  Why the hell didn't they add something like that?
538  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does anyone have this dress? on: 2006 October 25, 03:44:45
Don't those sleeves drive you insane? I ended up deleting anything I had with sleeves like that because they were constantly all messed up looking. I can put up with a bit for collars and the like, but for some reason those bothered me more and I was going nutsier than normal. They look very pretty when they're just standing there though.

Try Parsimonious, on this page:  http://www.parsimonious.org/fashion2/themes/theme_1131639693.shtml
Scroll down and you'll find dresses in the same general shape, only with far more sensible sleeves.  You can then rip out the textures on the LOTR dresses with Body Shop or SimPE and apply them to the Parsimonious mesh -- they work pretty well.  I wound up doing that with a lot of dresses when I got sick of the stiff "shovel sleeve" look.
539  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: 2006 Holiday Pack on: 2006 October 24, 21:05:44
Thanks for the link, Havelock.  Some of the outfits aren't too bad, "holiday" themed or not.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the textures could be stripped off and applied to an existing mesh very well... I did that with the Glamour Life Egyptian-style dress, but that wouldn't work with the kimono or the sari as the meshes are too unique.  The Chinese dress would look good in short sleeves on the dragon dress from the base game, so maybe I'll do that after it's released and I can get someone to export the texture for me.
540  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sounds like the kind of bonus I get at work! on: 2006 October 23, 17:46:26
Ugh.  I hope someone more awesome than me makes a hack with more sensible text on all the pet career chance cards before I get this expansion.   Tongue
541  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sounds like the kind of bonus I get at work! on: 2006 October 22, 23:10:19
The DOG allegedly used a machine??  WTF?  That surprises me far more than the lousy "bonus".
542  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Playable sims asking for employment? on: 2006 October 15, 20:58:46
You don't need the money orders to get playable sims on your lot if you also have the customer selector.  Set the selector to allow playable sims... and if you also set it to disallow all other sims, you can quickly get several playables and the reviewer all on your lot at once.  You can do this while nothing is marked for sale, hire who you want, and then close business long enough to get rid of the playables and set prices and the selector again.  You can also invite a friend over while your business is open and hire from there.
543  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bodyshop and CAS Blank Screens and Missing Content on: 2006 September 17, 18:20:13
Recently I went through my downloads, stripped out all the files with codes instead of names, and then went back into my game to see the impact.  I took out over 150 files, but I was missing only 4 recolors I actually wanted.  Because I put all the files I removed into a folder on my desktop, I was able to browse through it with SimPE and find the 4 I actually wanted, leaving me free to delete the rest.  I'm planning to rip the textures out of the 4 and use them to make new recolors with real file names.   Tongue  I love this game, but it requires way too much maintenance sometimes.
544  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Pinstar's new Apocalypse challenge on: 2006 September 16, 19:15:28
I would have to agree that snapdragons make it too easy.  I'm not too far along yet, but my sims are in the green all the time from the snapdragons -- even if I make them exercise until they reach hygeine failure, it's not enough to put them in the red.  My founder got her gold badge in college and as soon as she unlocked the Natural Science career, she bought a flower bench and put three snapdragons on every floor.

Keep in mind, Sketch Elder, that if snapdragons also require Business to unlock, that doesn't make NS useless.  You need NS if you want to unlock Alien Technology.  NS also unlocks the hydroponic planter, which gives another way to increase creativity.

I'll keep going with my current family for now, but the new rule sounds interesting enough that I might start a new one.
545  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Triple-jointed backrub on: 2006 September 13, 16:21:04
My favorite was the time the honeymoon limo drove off without the groom.

I had that happen to one of my very pregnant brides once.  She said she was too far along to leave the lot, so she waved as her husband left on the honeymoon without her.   Cheesy
546  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: The Plague: A Detailed Study on: 2006 September 12, 07:12:36
What's the point of sims getting sick if they're so unlikely to die from it?   Tongue  Maxis might as well have left it out entirely -- starving a sim sounds easier.
547  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Pinstar's new Apocalypse challenge on: 2006 September 10, 01:06:40
Yes, I Songsmith am a custom hair addict and have been a custom hair addict for 2 years. Have some coffee!

I don't care if it just randomizes Maxis-made hair. That would be in keeping with the spirit of the challenge. I just can't stand the same haircut through all life stages! *G* At least, that's what seems to happen with the fuzzy and pixie cuts.

So make your CAS starter sim with hair from the custom bin instead of "normal" hair.  That's why I've always preferred the less awesome unbinned hair -- my toddlers are less funny looking, as they always inherit their parents' hairstyles.  In this case you will only get decent-looking toddlers half the time -- only from the gender of your created sim -- but it's still an improvement.

...but if you don't like having the same style all the time, I guess Show Biz is going to have to be a priority for you.   Undecided  I'll probably do that one last, personally.
