TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: TS3 Collectors Edition Car

Is there going to be a single thread here in Pudding Land for player Uploads (made by the Board Mods) or do wi simply Zip or RAR the files together and upload them in a player made thread?
I don't have a Host to Upload them with, so I am wondering what the standard is.
Pudding Factory is MATY's TS3 version of the Peasantry forum. Create one new thread for each item or set you want to share; attach files if they are less than 640kb, or acquire a host like 4shared. Use Photobucket or Imageshack to host your pictures. If you can't manage that, stick with sites like MTS and put a link to your uploads in your signature instead.

This would be far more useful with some hard data. I'll move it to the Facts forum if you update it with facts: exact mood boost given, differences you have observed personally with a reasonably large sample over a reasonably long time, and other things that aren't taken from L&P like the Prima guide or Snooty Sims (if there is even a difference between those two).

So I got a modern video card, and now I can actually see what I'm doing. The old BastDawn sim is surprisingly accurate; I've changed the face so little that the base game version is still okay, although I seem to have made the formal outfit out of old knitted sweaters or something. (It looked like linen with my old card.) But the base game version still sucks, because it doesn't have a pirate hat! Get a pirate hat at MTS2 and you can have a much more awesome version of my sim to torture. I took the screenshots below with the default texture replacers removed from my game, so the sim should look even better if you are using those. Screenshots:sim without glasses (Yes, I'm smarter than I look, and yes, that's not saying much. Heh.) wardrobethe crappy base game version (still attached to this post) I used the Steampunk Savvy swashbuckler outfit from the EA store MiskyK's sharing files for the main outfit, and an outfit and a texture from WA for the workout clothes and swimsuit. I also used jonha's CAS Sliders, but the sim will still work without them. Get the WA BastDawn pirate sim here: http://moreawesomethanyou.com/bastdawn/gamestuff/Dawn_Bast-pirateversion.rarTraits:Artistic Bookworm Frugal Green Thumb No Sense of Humor If you have the hacks to add in the hidden and extra traits, give me the Pizza Appreciator trait. Absent minded is also okay if you can stand it. The Lifetime Wish is Visionary, but Master of the Arts, Illustrious Author, Swimming in Cash, Living in the Lap of Luxury, or Renaissance Sim would all be equally plausible. Favorites:Indie music (really just a little of everything, so any category is fine) cookies Irish green This sim is YA, but Adult is probably more accurate for my actual age. (I look more like the YA version.) Strip off the makeup if you want; I don't usually wear it, and I added lipstick only to get the lip color right.

I really have to give TSR credit. An impressive number of people seem to read the following sentence and come away with "EA is helping us". Development of the tool started as soon as we returned from our week at EA in January for the Creator Camp. It's not bad, I guess, assuming the reader has no ability whatsoever to see through textual bullshit. I keep checking that link every time someone posts a "Why is EA helping TSR!?" message trying to figure what they're seeing that I'm not. If it's not this sentence, WTF is it? Genuinely curious. No one at TSR has a reputation for making hacks or complex tools. They were not involved with development of SimPE, and people go to TSR for meshes and recolors, not hacks. It's not surprising that some people think they would be incapable of developing a Sim3 tool without a lot of hand holding.

The SecuROM in Pets is the benign version that no one cares about. You shouldn't have to worry about any expansions you purchased before Bon Voyage came out in September 2007.

I'd like to know what is a good recommendation for someone with a low end PC.
I run the game on two computers; one is pretty low end. For that computer I stopped at OFB (and later added Glamour Life), and it works pretty well if I limit the extra meshes I download and keep everything low-poly. You can install everything up to Pets on a crap computer and still have it run reasonably well, although I would skip Pets as it's much buggier than the OFB engine. If it's REALLY low end, just get OFB for the engine upgrade and leave it at that.

TSR hosts all my lots for me free of charge and people can find them to download. From a very narrow perspective, that works well for me; it's much less effort than running my own website and dealing with downloaders &/or hackers. They aren't charging me or anyone who downloads my lots.
They aren't charging, but they profit from it nonetheless whenever someone who downloads your stuff sees advertisements on the page -- something that wouldn't bug me much if they just stuck with advertisers to make money. When I got sick of their greed, I moved to MTS2. Continuing to upload stuff to TSR would have easily been seen as an endorsement.

I think Sony will probably change SecuROM's name to something no one has heard of yet. That way, EA can say, "No SecuROM!" and be sort of telling the truth, for a given value of honesty.

By the way, how many of these "wut EPs are teh bestest?" threads are there now? The OP might just read through a few of those, rather than us rehashing all this yet again.
Good point. We only have four (other) sticky threads in the Podium at the moment; this can be #5. Hopefully that will prevent additional threads with this topic.

I was thinking this was still the thread that I remember from some time back, and apparently cannot find anywhere now, as being a suitable place to bring up mods which had RTFMs (and thus didn't really belong in either the DC thread or the descriptions thread) but did not merit their own thread.
No. It's never been good for that, and now that I know Pescado will purge the thread when it gets too big, all such questions will be moved unless they are too stupid to matter. Congratulations, you have started a new thread!
