And yes Zazazu, I agree the portraits are not the snapshots of the TS2 days. Could someone mod in a 'not suck' option for the 'stylized still life'? Okay, I've been delving into the code this morning after a search last night for anyone doing work on this gave me nothing. Adding an option on for a "Clear" style, or something of the sort is a VBT. If an option-adding mod is done on an object, it can't be removed without ruining the game code. If anyone else wants to look at this and try fixing it, go for it. So far, I've been stabbing around but can't seem to get rid of the wavyness. Wouldn't it be easier to make a default replacement, rather than a new option?

I wonder about the laptop at level 6 of the Law Enforcement career (Forensic branch). I had a sim get all the way to the top of that career branch, and she never received a laptop. I was specifically waiting for it to happen because I'd read about it. I assume it's something that's supposed to appear in their inventory.
It appears in the family inventory. When my cop sim got it, I moved it to a desk, and then decided to put it in her husband's inventory instead. Then it broke; any time I attempted to do anything with it, a message popped up saying that it could not be used on the lot.

I'm still figuring out who to hook her up with. Her BFF has a fair personality (they share the never nude trait), but his favorite color is hot pink. I've just been dealing with Trevor's hot pink and black house. I'm not sure about hot pink and seafoam.
Try using the hot pink as a accent color, and decorate everything else in seafoam, dark teal (like seafoam on the dark end of the scale), and white wood or steel.

Why not use keyboard substitutes z and x like TS2 does?
Actually, I think TS3 still does that. I just glanced in the game manual that someone uploaded, and under "Key Commands" it says: Zoom in/out Z/X or =/- or Num Pad + / Num Pad - EDIT: And testing in the game, all three do work.

I would like new children, but there should be a cap. For instance, there don't need to be more than five or so babies at once, and there should be a breeding freeze if the number of children goes up to ten. That will prevent overcrowding at the school.
I agree with Gus Smedstad and phyllis_p's posts.
In my opinion, AddSim is desirable only for new babies with two parents (pregnancy is preferable), ChangeRelationship is useful for making new marriages (and maybe a few enemies), GetJob seems fine, MergeHouseholds is good only for sims who marry (using SplitHousehold if they initially belong to larger households), and ThrowHouseParty is fine at any time. Everything else needs to be killed with fire.

Is this going to be TS2 redux when it comes to expansions, what kind of scam is that? :/
Well, yes. Half of the TS2 expansions were remakes of the TS1 expansions, and they sold well. Why wouldn't they do it again?

Deleting from the Launcher removes it from your game, but it won't give you your disk space back. Take the Sims3Packs you downloaded and put the ones you don't want aside. Then delete your DCCache folder. Then reinstall the downloads you want to keep. Because it is such a hassle, it's best to avoid installing anything with the Launcher unless you are completely certain you want it. To test something new in-game, back up your DCCache folder before installation to make the process less painful.

Baila, maybe installing 3.5Net from Microsoft can help. That is needed to get Delphy's monkey installer working, so probibly Framework needs it too?
The framework doesn't need 3.5 NET. I refused to install that shit (even though I won't be able to make custom patterns without it), and I have installed both the framework and Awesomemod, which works in my game.

Yeah, if you try to put a 20x30 lot in a 30x20 space, the front door will never face the right way. As a compromise, I've tried building on the smallest lot I could find in the game. In Sunset Valley, the bistro (I think) is on a 16x18 lot. Move it or bulldoze it, change the zoning, and build your house there. The result will fit on just about any other lot in the game, although it will end up centered and you will have to extend paths and terrain paint to make it look right.

The Prima guide might have been accurate months ago when it was written (long before going to the printer and appearing in stores), but now it is full of lies -- many things were changed before the game was released.

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: List of Empty and Cleaned-up Templates.
|

Thanks for this synopsis. Considering the differant definitions I've read for clean/fixed/vanilla hoods - and that not all the templates you list go to a downloadable, I'll be getting 3 from 1one link, and 12 from the 4-share link in this thread. Would prefer hoods with the playable families (with clean DNA) but happy to take whatever I can get. But {ducking in preparation for blows with stupid stick} Jorid's directions are not specific for this process of replaceing default hoods. I would guess removing (backing up) folders (just individual hoods?). And can I (do I need to) run patches after installing the defaults?
All of the files are hosted on MATY, using links the in the first post that immediately follow the link to Emma's 4shaded account (although you can certainly use the 4shared if you prefer). Patches should be irrelevant to these defaults, and you should always back up game files before replacing them with mods -- but if you don't, the replacements are in the last link in the original post.

You can read this stuff I tested out in the game, but the text file pbox attached to her post below is the best guide possible, because it uses the actual game data.My learnings, let me show them to you: Genre | av. pages | § | actual royalties earned | Fiction | 90 | $ | 66, 81 (hit), 123 (best seller) | Non-Fiction | 90 | $ | 58, 56, 95 (best seller), 59 | Science Fiction | 150 | $ | 158 | Trashy Novel | 190 | $ | 146, 265 (best seller), 169 | Drama | 305 | $$ | 398 | Children's (req. 4 painting) | 105 | $ | 265 & 339 (best sellers), 66 (flop) | Humor | 345 | $$ | 450 | Historical (must be Elder) | 345 | $$ | 919 (best seller), 782 (hit) | Mystery | 510 | $$$ | 904 (hit) | Romance | 675 | $$$$ | 1603 | Fantasy | 440 | $$$ | 1059, 1028 (best seller) | Satire | 350 | $$$ | 1216 (best seller), 1044 (hit) | Vaudeville | 1250 | $$$$ | 1155 (flop) | Biography | 400 | $$ | 308 | Masterpiece | 2000 | $$$$$ | 5788 |
"Average pages" and the § numbers are taken from the Skill Journal; the "actual royalties earned" numbers reflect the weekly royalty my sim received, not the total. I did not notice that skill level made any difference in royalties; it only seemed to unlock genres. Most of this data was gained with a YA sim with the Clumsy, Good, Loves the Outdoors, Workaholic, and Vegetarian traits. Some traits are alleged to give bonuses to related genres, and the traits I chose for this sim were not represented on that list. Three novels were written by an elder sim with the Bookworm, Genius, Good, Hot-headed, and Workaholic traits: one non-fiction book with a §59 per week royalty, and the historical novels. The elder sim had a skill level of 6, while the main test sim had maxed the writing skill before I started collecting royalty numbers. In keeping with the spirit of this thread, I will note that the royalty information could use more data to allow us to make a reasonable average for flops, average sellers, hits, and best sellers. Additionally, I have no information for the Autobiography. Please feel free to post additional data, preferably noting the sim's traits and the performance level of the novel. EDIT: It would also be good to know if the sim has any lifetime rewards related to writing books. (Neither of my sims had any.) With more data, we can figure out how much those perks are really worth.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Young Adult or almost Elder?

Elder males are still fertile. Anyways, I find it easy to spot the forehead wrinkles that adults sport (and am still offended that this is supposed to be the equivalent of a 30-year-old as I have no wrinkles, thank you).
I've been assuming that YA is 18, Adult is 42, and Elder is somewhere between 60 and 66. But I'm only a few years away from that Adult mark, and I don't have wrinkles either.
