1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 April 01, 03:39:22
I'm having cursor issues with the latest version. I'm patched up to 1.33. The cursor (...) shows as grayed out pointer, or as feet, or even the forbidden symbol.

Varmint, with Awesomemod installed, could you please try clicking and dragging an interactive object in a community lot (or anywhere other than current Sim's lot) and confirm if your game crashes? I have been testing and besides the previous CTD, the game also crashes to desktop when haphazardly dragging an object from the inventory of a Sim. It is also likely to CTD when issuing orders to playable Sims if the cursor moves a pixel in any direction while the left-button is pulsed.

There is a very long list of missing STBLs for the Latin American Spanish language, and some Castillian missing strings too. I have either pulled the 0x13 (Spain) text and re-instanced it as 0x14 (Mexico) or directly translated and filled a 0x14 STBL. The resulting .package is then placed in the Mods folder as usual.

Game is patched to 1.32, all expansions added, with Awesomemod dated March 9 local time. Game allows portable instruments on a community lot stage to be dragged in live mode, causing immediate "TS3 has stopped working" crash and subsequent shutdown. Removing Awesomemod allows normal game interactions, where the mouse cursor is an arrow with a sprocket and these same portable instruments cannot be dragged.

Edit to add further observations. The game crashes whenever I drag an object while the cursor bears an arrow and a forbidden symbol. Sometimes the cursor remains as "go here", the arrow plus feet soles, but game will still crash if any mouse motion is applied while left-clicking.

Edit to share more information and a question. Whatever object is left-clicked and then dragged while playing in live mode on a community lot causes immediate game shutdown. It can be a decorative object, furniture or even drinks. Now using patch 1.33 with Awesomemod dated March 17 local time. Removing every custom content file except for Awesomemod (with and without aweconf) still causes the issue, while removing it restores expected behaviour. Am I the only one experiencing this?
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 March 01, 21:19:23
New post to publish another possible solution, depending on the state of the troubled user's system. In my case, crashing due to "TS3 has stopped working" errors ceased after applying an update to .NET 4.0 which was listed as "optional" instead of "important" inside Windows Update, so it did not get automatically installed.

However, freezing did continue, but now it began displaying a definitive pattern instead of the previous randomness. My playing habits were to use Edit Town without saving from Live Mode, and without saving back to Live after editing (choosing "Continue only" instead of "Save") and it's this procedure which causes the freezing within a few sim-minutes to a couple of sim-hours. The same will happen if I try to Buy/Build directly on another lot as allowed by Awesomemod.

As of now I can use the game without DEP exemptions or tweaks, so I hope this experience can help others troubleshoot their own gaming systems.

Edited for the purpose of reporting no further crashes or freezing after one last change: Following the hint contained within this post (see http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,21254.msg588307.html#msg588307), the game no longer malfunctions.

Editing after week-end gaming session. Game crashed once with a "TS3 has stopped working" error which was detected as likely caused by DEP with the CLA utility. Adding DEP exemption solved the issue.

Incognito, are you playing in windowed mode? I run TS3 on a W7 64b system with low-level nVidia video cards and 8GB of RAM, always windowed on a second monitor. The game began crashing randomly after latest patch. An apparently stable solution is to set compatibility properties of TS3W.exe to "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" in the configuration area, plus "Run as administrator" in privilege level area.

I did run CLA, Dashboard, RigFixer just in case, manually tested most recent .package additions and updated mods, all to no avail until I tried the compatibility settings yesterday evening. So far, the settings above seem to have solved the random crashing and freezing, with only one stall that lasted half a minute or less in the most problematic town I have.

Edited to update:

Apparent stability lasted for three days (roughly eight or nine hours of game playing) and problems began anew. There was an announced graphic card driver update which is installed now, however the game still crashes randomly. I am sorry for offering a misleading solution. I will test for much longer before ever attempting to do so again.

If by the sentence "I changed the font" you mean to have substituted the power supply unit of your computer for a new one, I can tell from personal experience these power supply units can apparently fail to deliver correct voltages to the motherboard. According to my local computer integrator company, I had a bad p.s.u. which freezed TS3 and also began crashing the computer in the middle of ordinary operations.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any way to salvage Sims from a corrupted town? on: 2012 February 12, 05:00:28
The player might be unable to pack the desired sims with Porter if the game itself is unable to perform a save-to-library operation. I had the unfortunate experience where editing the world and trying to save a copy of personalized houses/families failed repeatedly; Porter published a failure warning.

A solution is to perform the manual procedure of saving empty houses from World Editor and individual sims from any armoire (wardrobe?) as indicated in previous answers, resulting in fresh but ignorant and inexperienced characters.

On a tangential theme, why do worlds accumulate so many errors over time? Is it a lack of "clean-up & verify" software code or is this corruption simply impossible to prevent? As a builder, it is quite frustrating to see a personalized neighbourhood begin to fail after a couple of generations, and while I try to keep clean lot/family copies in the game's library, there will always be missing or outdated sims and lots.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to destroy all sim-written books in world? on: 2011 December 06, 13:18:11
Console command worked flawlessly, burning every sim-authored book in the world and removing all printed editions from both household and public library. It also seems to have stopped all pending cheques from the sim's publishing company.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / How to destroy all sim-written books in world? on: 2011 November 30, 22:07:59
What is the procedure for destroying, removing, deleting, erradicating every book ever written by a player-controlled sim? Or at the very least keeping the hundred and something copies from showing up in the world library bookcases?

I would respectfully disagree with Kissing Toast's statement that at least some sims3pack files would have installed. When using the following process: 1.- CompressorizerRedux with Pescado's decrapify.exe, s3rc.exe, 2.- using the EA Launcher to install from /Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads, without mods, not a single sims3pack appeared in-game, despite the Launcher announcing success for each item (except those that were duplicated). I should point out this happened at the time of Ambitions and later Generations, prior to the latest Recompressor update and the entire install lasted roughly an hour.

Will try another complete reinstall once Pets arrives in my region and use the batch file, decrapify.exe and s3rc.exe system instead, although resulting sims3pack files should be the same?
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2011 August 29, 04:06:45
...downloaded all of the Sims 3 Store content from this website, and I have decrapified all of it also. But after that step, I click the SimPacks for them to install. It will say "Success!" but if I start my game or re-load the Sims Launcher, the items DID NOT install at all.

I have experienced this behavior when attempting to intall every decrappified sims3pack at once. In my experience, limiting the total number of sims3pack files inside the /Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Downloads folder to roughly 20 items or a maximum of 100MB total size results in successful installation via the Launcher application.

Bumping my last question up, any indication on why Store items continue to miss STBL strings for the Latin American (0x14) region? Both the latest world, the wind chime and the bonus pack were once again corrupted, although Hidden Springs was only partially faulty.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2011 August 09, 19:19:47
I need help regarding STBL entries in decrapped content. Ever since the "Haunted Gothic Library" set, decrapped store content has consistently failed to include the STBL strings for my localized game. Fortunately it's the only missing entry, because the 0x13 Spanish is available for the most part, and the user can copy this resource in order to create a new 0x14 STBL list, save as .package and add this "fix" to the Mods folder. Unfortunately, the process is tedious and prone to user error.

Is this missing STBL a decrappifying process problem or is this failure already present in the original, untouched files? Is there a batch STBL copy/replace program available somewhere?

Creating a .package file from a non-decrappified but compressorized .sims3pack puts a clone of the original in the catalog, and both work. However, the animation is incongruent with the phone device itself because the sim presses buttons on the receiver as if it were a regular cordless phone, when it should dial them on the base of the device instead. Does anyone have the correct animation working?

Is the not working GEN registration phone a similar issue and would work with a similar fix?

EA Fixed that. Just need the latest sims3pack for it.
Where to grab the latest sims3pack then? Checking the download topic we have immortelleMuse's post (stating hers doesn't work), then panamacrew (who only post packages). That's the only two files containing the phone that you can find in the downloads section.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ci4q2flxly9i1b9
Updated Generations rewards Unmodified.
Finally, that damn phone! Baa Anach. Apparently it's like the spell book and must not be decrapped to work correctly, otherwise you'll have a big square saying 'Missing Resource' when sims use it.

I have no such issue and I decrap everything. Although there might be a difference between installing as package and sims3pack, as I do the latter.

I'm deeply sorry for bringing this issue back, however Anach's posted Generations rewards file is either the old glitched one, or I simply cannot get the rotary phone to work due to something wrong on my end.

This is a fresh, patched, complete install with all EPs and SPs. Store content purposedly includes only Barnacle Bay, Riverview and the Generations rewards set. Method used is decrappifying, then using launcher to install from downloads folder.

I also tried the uninstall, reinstall method recommended, yet the results are the same, insofar as a white cube denouncing a missing resource (the phone receiver) envelops the sim as it makes or answers a call.

Would it be possible to add a _Female definition to the Sacred trait? I've noticed other traits have a key that allows for the differentiation, and it would be something like this:

<KEY>Gameplay/Excel/Traits/TraitList:ChosenSacred_Female</KEY>

In the same venue, can I add _Female keys to the descriptions and tooltips when necessary? Or should I post a more detailed request, indicating their exact placement within the canonical awestring.xml?

Quote from: Claeric
The new process for gentle sloping roofs is to use the freaking roof slope tool.

The tool only lowers the incline to a minimum 15°, which is still too steep for many roofing configurations. It does provide a similar control to what RoofSlopeAngle does but without the input of exact numerical values. The tool does improves on the previous method by allowing the user to pick any roof section at any time and modify it.

Quote from: J. M. Pescado
roofslopeangle will parse any angle greater than zero, but it is possible the game is not able to generate a roof with a lesser slope.

Indeed, my game is unable to generate the desired roof slope. I tried in different neighbourhoods with the same negative results. I haven't yet reinstalled TS3 in order to verify whether this is particular problem of my current install or not.
17  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 15, 04:24:29
Is there a new or alternative process for creating a roof with very gentle slopes? I built some houses with 5° or 7° of roof incline about a year ago, but now RoofSlopeAngle appears to accept values between 15° and 60° only. Perhaps even higher but I haven't tested further. Using the AwesomeMod syntax "rsa [angle] new" doesn't reflect values lower than 15° either, and creates a roof with that apparently mandatory minimum angle.
18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Flagrant System Error on: 2010 July 09, 22:24:20
Using "fixall" console command causes the flagrant system error below:

It only happens in one neighbourhood out of four, the largest and oldest I have in constant play. Mods and custom content installed include body sliders, skin tones, a couple of vehicles, two dozen decorative and build items, and no-longer/never-for-my-region available EA items of all kinds. Error happens constantly after attempting to use "fixall" and it used to work perfectly in this very same neighbourhood. It began after a few "error 12 on save" occurrences, after which I tried using the mentioned command to clean up the town.

Any help or advice on how to recover the command's functionality would be appreciated.
19  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 19, 03:22:02
I have the same behaviour as reported by Mr Anach. Latest test version of AM dowloaded from the alpha location and installed in a fully functional Awesomemod enabled game.
