I'm assuming you mean the computer monitor goes black or shuts off even though the computer is still running and then you have to manually shut off the computer? If so, I had the exact same problem with BV but I've been playing just fine with FT installed *crosses fingers* so far.

I installed moar RAM this weekend but I still don't know if I will even attempt to run BV again. FT has a lot of the things from BV that I wanted, mainly the new turn ons/offs and "walk to lot" feature. My sims can live without vacations, after all, I don't take vacations either.  Cheesy

52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Patch #2: Now on thesims2.ea on: 2008 February 20, 03:59:30
All I want to know is where is my fucking patch/drivers that will stop making my computer crash and BV actually playable. Fuckers.

That is all.

Hello Sapphire Scratches,
Are you sexy, would you look good with a corset Piercing?
my Ex had one and i think they look well good.

Truthfully I think that's the funniest post I have read on MATY, ever.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trailer trash/ Chav names on: 2008 February 05, 03:54:33

I just spent hours reading this site, because I couldn't stop. I think my brain just broke.

Seriously, and I will never understand this- who in their right mind would give their little girl a name like MacKenzie, or Madison? I realize they are trendy, but it makes me want to KILL. Heck, even Maude or Bertha or "Flo" would be better, even though people think those names are dumb now.

Srsly? Why not just beat up your kid at home and save the kids at school the trouble. Cheesy

Any chance of or does anyone know if the clothes from CS could be pillaged?

I'll convert the castaway/native clothes, the masks (Face painting) and the (hair-)hats !

Yay!

That is all. Grin

It's possible, but there's a pretty large variety to tackle.

I know but I really could envision a whole "theme" for my regular game while I was playing CS last night and it was a really fun idea.

I wish BV worked for me; I really want those "modular homes." Cry

I would so click that.

They'll attempt to increase the chance of alien abduction with some new perk what'll result in certain abduction every time a sim gawks through the 'scope. Sims will get random crushes from watching others play violin or basketball.

I too watched a trailer; a new creature is going to be the Clown.

Do you have a link to this trailer? I didn't spot a clown when I watched the EA video.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Neighbourhood screen flashing to black on: 2008 January 12, 03:19:42
Halouha - Interesting that you got it first with the seasons patch same as me and the simmer one of the other posts I found.....  I'll have to move a tree and see if that helps.  I'm sure Eleanora will say it fits her tree theory!

Jlkeal - I don't think we know for sure that this particular problem does happen with Nvidia.  You, I and Halouja all have ATI cards.  Eleanor didn't say.  Checking back on those links, I think the other sufferers either had old ATI cards or didn't say.

I've had the same problem for a while but I don't recall if it started before or after the Seasons' patch.

I have a Nvidia card.

Dear god, it's worse than I thought! *flails* Word!?

Anyway! Just saw the new Artist thing. The artists? They will have every problem you ever had with the Secret Societies, only worse.

The clay will hopefully be able to fly off the pottery wheel if you have low skill. I'd love that. However, it will break, and you will lose the clay every time, as it will never land.

Jeleandra, I love you. Ragdoll sims a la Sally would rock. I'd like anything that actually looks hand-made, too, really. However, the Ragdoll sims "skin" will also have the wrong footstep noises.

ETA: Just noticed the secondary aspiration thing. That WILL break any mod relating with aspiration wants. It will also break the mod that makes romance Sims have no jealousy.

I'll take that one step further: the flying clay will never land AND will fill your lots with invisible lumps of clay that will cause tremendous lag and game crashage. Pes will have to add "Nuke Clay Lumps" to the FFS Lot Debugger.

Ragdoll Sims would totally rock. That, of course, is why we won't get them Cry. Instead we'll get a "life size teddy bear sim" because I'm starting to think EA is a bunch of furries.

Also I agree with someone else who said that while toddlers will be able to so called group activities, they won't build any relationships with the other toddles. Much how twins in the game now can have zero social scores with each other.

More to the Nvidia theme: Nvidia users won't be able to see birds because they have to play with useshadersoff to avoid the game crashing e.g. fish from Seasons.

Possibly the game will not be playable without BSODs or other random crashes for thousands of players, e.g. Bon Voyage.

EA will not issue a patch because it's the last EP and they have moved on to TS3 (also fuck you, you're just betatesters customers).

No, I'm not bitter. Why do you ask?
64  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Baby Bottle Only Fridge on: 2008 January 08, 23:14:37
Yay! I'll be happy to try this out. No more schlepping up and down the stairs for my sims that have two-story houses with the nursery on the second floor! Or stupid sims storing leftovers in the second story 'fridge that is just suppose to be there for babies.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Frequently Freezing Lot on: 2008 January 04, 04:47:22
I was certainly patient with the game. These lock ups weren't on the first load up, either. They seem to be occuring at random times without rhyme or reason.

This has been happening to several of my lots for a while now. I have yet to figure out the reason why either since there aren't any error logs or messages.

(Not a very helpful post, I know.)
66  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Continous Community Lot Errors-I Know How Interesting That Sounds on: 2007 December 28, 23:30:39
I should have put that in my first post because that was my first thought too, the Visitor Controller by TJ.

Only thing is, I don't have it. I deleted it just the other day because I never use it.

Edited to add: Okay, I ran Clean Installer and didn't find TJ's Visitor Controller anywhere.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Help Wanted: BSODs and CPU Overheating on: 2007 December 28, 20:34:00
Well I don't have any expert advice because I'm far from it  Cheesy but I use AVG for free anti-virus software and it has caught things that Norton didn't even pick up on, so I'm pretty well sold on it. I also turn it off when I'm playing TS2 so I don't know if it updating while you're playing would cause a problem. I know it would for mine because my computer just wouldn't be able to handle that much going on at once if I left it on, which is why I don't.

On my old computer when I was getting continual BSODs and the horrible, dreadful IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL error, it turned out that my computer was overheating due to a not very large amount of cat hair and dust in between the card and the fan. Once it was removed, the BSODs stopped.

And that's really all I know. Grin
68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Continous Community Lot Errors-I Know How Interesting That Sounds on: 2007 December 28, 20:23:52
I have to admit I hardly ever play Community Lots so this problem may have existed in my game for a while and I hadn't seen it until just recently.

I tried to get Dina Caliente to drive to a Community Lot the other night. She would seem to get in the car just fine but then she would "jump" out and end up by the mailbox. I tried replacing the car and the driveway, got the same results. I finally had her call a taxi but once at the Community Lot, my game threw so many errors it was almost impossible (and HIGHLY annoying) to play. She calls a taxi but when the taxi comes, the icon for leaving never shows up in her queue and I can't click on the taxi to get her to get in. I finally had to exit the game without saving, load her lot and the taxi shows up to drop her off.

Then last night, I was playing the Jaquet household and sent Gilbert to J'adore Bakery or whatever it's called, since he's the owner. Same deal, so many repeated error msgs that the game is almost unplayable. I have him close the business and call for a taxi. Same thing, he doesn't get in, can't click on the taxi, etc., etc., Leave the game without saving, load the Jaquet lot, Gilbert comes home from J'adore.

Interesting thing about the error msgs is that they 90% of them on the community lots say something like "Vistor #96, cannot be traced back". I deleted any visitor type of hacks I have and I still get the same unknown, nontracable error.

I have all EPs except for BV and Pets and all stuffit packs except Holidays.

Attached error files.

I keep having problems with the Pleasants' house. Every time I play it my computer freezes up or the game crashes (losing all progress).  It's quite frustrating. I have moved them out and back in but the lot remains a constant problem. Every other house plays just fine.

Edited to add: Okay, I was wrong. I am starting to have this problem with other households as well.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: BV freezes forever on: 2007 December 14, 15:38:12
Alright, I just installed Bon Voyage.  Unfortunately, it randomly freezes after a few minutes of play.  The sound continues playing, but everything is locked up.  The curser will still move for a few minutes, then it will freeze.  There seems to be no pattern.  This will happen during play, buy, and build modes.  I cannot minimize the program or bring up the task manager.  The computer will not shut down after pressing the power button or restart with ctrl+alt+delete.  I have to cut the power manually by holding the power button in.  I reduced the sound acceleration in DirectX, as EA recommends, and then turned it off entirely.  I set the affinity to CPU1.  I have turned off all back ground processes.  Of course I tried it with no CC.  Nothing solves it.

My system more than  meets the requirements, but to be sure:
XP Media SP2
PentiumD 3.2 GHz
1 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 256MB

So far I have only found references to this problem on macs.  Has anyone heard of this problem on P.C.'s, and a way to fix it?

I have had the same exact problem ever since BV came out. We have similar specs although you have a faster processor then I do and my card is the Nvidia 7600 GT.

I played the update, roll back, try different drivers, game for a few months before I finally just gave up. I haven't found any solution or pattern to the computer freeze up. I finally just uninstalled BV and hope that EA figures out a patch to solve the Nvidia conflict.
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Opps... It broke its damn self..... Blue Freeze on: 2007 December 12, 05:15:25
I read specs as having an ATI video card.  Might your card be having difficulties with your selected resolution?  Whatever the native dimension of your monitor, have you tried running the game with an unmodified graphics file at one of the standard resolutions (most ATI cards allow a range of options)?

Oh, duh. I don't know how I overlooked that. Embarrassed

73  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Opps... It broke its damn self..... Blue Freeze on: 2007 December 11, 16:56:17
Is this with BV? Do you by chance have a Nvidia card?

I can run all EPs up to BV but because of whatever conflict there is between that EP and Nvidia, I get the blue screen you describe, a black screen or it shuts off my monitor completely (even though the computer is still running, the monitor goes to "sleep".)

I have been unable to find any kind of fix for it and don't think I will at this point. I'm just crossing my fingers that EA figures out a patch for this problem. Please note that I'm not holding my breath. Angry
74  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: 'tis the season! on: 2007 December 07, 16:47:35

I've always had a good impression of the site. I still do. Parsimonious gets tons of traffic, they have to pay for that bandwidth somehow. The ads on the site aren't too irritating, as ads go.

I'd be pretty annoyed in Kate's position as well.

I have to agree with that. Parsimonious was one of the first sites I found after I got TS2. It was a while before I discovered that some sites were *gasp* pay!

I guess what I'm trying to understand is what is the proper method of using a picture from someone else's site that doesn't eat up their bandwidth. I've always downloaded the image to my computer and then uploaded it using photobucket. Is that wrong?
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: An Asylum Challenge Conundrum on: 2007 December 05, 16:50:24
Well I don't have BV installed since it only succeeds in crashing my computer regardless of whether or not I am running a vanilla game or one with mods/downloads. I'm running all EPs except Pets (and BV obviously) and all stuff packs except Holidays.

I did have Jordi's mod but I apparently deleted it at some point in preparation for BV or something. I had looked at the LargerHouseholds mod on MST2 but I am leary of using a mod by someone who I had never heard of.

Anyhow, after playing the Asylum Lot last night I see that eevilcat was correct; JM is not showing any signs of being pregnant, he was merely probed for "practice" as Jelenedra said. Cheesy
